Kaytranada Nearly Produced For Drake’s ‘Honestly, Nevermind’ Album, But According To Him A Short Chat Ended Things

Kaytranada is one of the most highly sought out artists in electronic music. The Grammy Award history marker has worked with acts such as Beyoncé, Tinashe, HER, Victoria Monét, and to name a few. But the “Lover/Friend” musician’s resume could’ve included Drake.

During an interview with Vulture, Kaytranada revealed that he was seemingly approached to work on Drake’s album, Honestly, Nevermind.

While attending a Coachella after-party, Kaytranada said he was fielded to see if he would open to produce on the body of work or “make beats.” At the moment, he replied to Drake’s supposed representative saying it would be “an honor.” However, that didn’t go over well with Drake.

After time had passed, Kaytranada alleged that word got back to him to that his “Sure, hit me up” response wasn’t warm enough. “Was I supposed to be like, ‘Oh my God, for real? Drake?’ I’m not like that,” he said.

The 2022 project, which featured singles “Sticky,” “Massive,” and “Jimmy Cooks,” was Drake’s head dive into dance music. Alight the album went to debut atop the charts, a collaboration from Kaytranada could’ve helped it remain in the top spot for much longer.

Drake wasn’t the only superstar to fumble a collaboration with Kaytranada. Later in the conversation, he confessed why his beloved remix of Beyoncé’s “Cuff It” track isn’t available to streaming platforms. Ultimately, Kaytranada nixed the upload due to financial reasons.

“Sometimes people don’t see your worth and how important you are,” he said. “I know what I mean to people.” His response was after he claimed Beyoncé’s team offered to pay him next to nothing or “less money than what much smaller artists have paid” while “retaining all the rights to the song.”

It appears Kaytranada has no problem walking away from what doesn’t serve him.

Beyonce’s “CUFF IT” Was Written For Raphael Saadiq’s Group, He Claims

Beyoncé’s “CUFF IT” is easily one of the standout tracks on her latest and dominant album, RENAISSANCE. It’s only been a little over a year since it dropped, and yet with her world tour, the project and its highlights seem more relevant than ever. As such, it’s interesting to hear about the origins of these songs, especially considering the wealth of legendary collaborators on board. For example, Raphael Saadiq of recently back-together group Tony! Toni! Toné! said that he wrote “CUFF IT” for the group, but then passed it on when he realized how big it could be. While speaking to Vulture in an interview published Friday (September 22), the songwriter shared that Queen Bey rarely passes up on something she loves.

“I haven’t been to the RENAISSANCE tour, but I have seen the [viral dance] challenges online,” Raphael Saadiq expressed. “That record was going to be a Tonyies record, the part that just sounds like [mimicking the song’s guitar riff]. But I gave it to a friend of mine and said, ‘I got this record. I was going to do it, but what about Beyonce?’

The Raphael Saadiq-Written Hit “CUFF IT”

“She’s one of those people where if she’s feeling it, she’s going 100 percent in,” Raphael Saadiq continued. “I said, ‘It’s going to move people. It’s going to work, I’m telling you.’ I think she just put it away. From what I heard, The-Dream eventually found it. And he was like, ‘What is that?!’ I already knew it was one of them joints. I always said, if you drop the right music on an artist, it could go. But I’m glad she has so many eyeballs on her, you know what I mean? You can’t really trick people; it’s got to be good.”

Meanwhile, the RENAISSANCE tour is still ongoing, and will likely keep up its bombast and spectacle. Conversely, the album itself is still getting spun like wildfire, with “CUFF IT” being one of its biggest hits. Next time you hear the song, be grateful for Raphael Saadiq’s generosity. Beyoncé’s “CUFF IT” Surpasses “Halo” As Her Longest-Charting Solo Song Of All Time

In less than two months, Beyoncé and her crew will head out to amaze audiences with her long-awaited RENAISSANCE tour. While jokes about the mother of three practicing vocal runs while sprinting on the treadmill in heels, and exclusively consuming almonds and water to keep her figure right have been circulating on social media, her album continues to speak for itself by breaking more records. Most recently, one of her newer songs beat out an old fan favourite as her longest-charting solo song of all time.

Twitter account @PopBase shared the news on Monday (March 27) evening, that Beyoncé’s 2008 hit, “Halo,” has officially been surpassed by “CUFF IT” on the Billboard Hot 100 in terms of total weeks charting. The former song arrived on the Houston native’s I Am… Sasha Fierce album, and has an undeniably ethereal, feel-good vibe to it. The latter, of course, is on the RENAISSANCE project and has since seen incredible remixes from Blxst and Bey herself.

“CUFF IT” Continues to Break Records

While “CUFF IT” is undeniably a fan favourite, other popular titles from the 16-song tracklist include “BREAK MY SOUL,” “ALIEN SUPERSTAR,” and “ENERGY” featuring Beam. Shortly after unveiling RENAISSANCE to the world last summer, Beyoncé hinted that the project was part of a trilogy, though it remains unclear when the next two albums will be arriving. As for her tour, it’s due to begin on May 10 in Stockholm, before the vocalist takes over stages in various other cities around the world. Ahead of the big premiere, fans got a preview of what’s to come when Beyoncé made a grand return in Dubai earlier this year.

At the time, she was helping to celebrate the opening of a new hotel in the luxurious country, and celebrity friends like Kendall Jenner, Chloe and Halle Bailey, and her husband, Jay-Z were all in attendance. A strict no-phones policy was enforced ahead of the performance, though some attendees still managed to capture clips and leak them online. While what we saw of that show was undeniably impressive, it’s likely that the upcoming RENAISSANCE shows will only be better thanks to the Virgo superstar’s incredible work ethic. Beyoncé’s ‘Renaissance’ Track ‘Cuff It’ Is Still Breaking Records, Several Months After Its Release

Beyoncé‘s Renaissance was undoubtedly one of the biggest, if not the biggest, release of 2022. The album was full of hits; the lead single “Break My Soul” is a timeless banger, and “Alien Superstar” kept fans entertained and making memes.

Months later, the album is still kicking it, especially “Cuff It.” The song has exceeded her beloved classic hit “Halo” as her longest-charting solo song of all time on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, according to Pop Base on Twitter. The feat has fans celebrating.

Renaissance was also recently the inspiration for a collection with Balmain’s Olivier Rousteing. About it, Rousteing said, “I was sketching and sketching as I listened, and sometimes you can’t control the emotion of your sketch… it wasn’t something I was supposed to be doing but I was just inspired by the music to do it.”

Beyoncé’ praised it, writing, “Thank you @olivier_rousteing and @balmain for bringing RENAISSANCE to life in couture,” she wrote. “Designing alongside you was freeing—thank you for allowing me to celebrate the human form, to take artistic risks, to push boundaries and to freely express myself. To the @voguefrance team, thank you for trusting in our vision and sharing it with the world.”

Beyoncé’s “CUFF IT – WETTER REMIX” Takes The Top Spot On Our “R&B Season” Playlist

Obviously, all most music lovers care about today (February 12) is the Rihanna concert, or should we say, the Super Bowl. Still, you obviously need music to stream while waiting for the big event to start, and for blasting as you celebrate your favourite team’s win after. Luckily for you, we’ve got plenty of new arrivals to talk about on our R&B Season playlist.

At the top of this weekend’s update is a two-time past Halftime show performer herself, Beyoncé. Since the arrival of RENAISSANCE last summer she’s been steadily delivering remixes or different versions of her disco-inspired song. After hearing several others take on the challenge, the mother of three finally released the “CUFF IT – WETTER REMIX.” It blends her own song with Twista’s vintage fan favourite.

Afterward, we hear from Maeta, who’s bringing “S(EX)” to our roster of R&B releases. “You know the vibes and we outside tonight / Just for old times I’II let you slide in my / Feelings,” her soft voice rings out. The sultry new single boasts production by OG Parker, G. Ry, and MesioMusic.

Holding things down for Canada today is Roy Woods. The “Snow White” singer had a strong 2022 thanks to releases like “Bad Bad,” “Insecure,” and “Speeding.” On his first solo track of the new year, “Don’t Love Me,” will potentially land on his forthcoming Mixed Emotions effort. Many details about that remain unknown, but he previously shared that Drake will be executive producing.

Our only collaboration on the latest R&B Season list comes from Lizzo and SZA. The powerhouse vocalists came together to remix the former’s “Special” single. It originally landed on her album of the same name last summer. It’s the first time we’ve heard the Detroit and Missouri natives work together musically, though it hopefully won’t be the last.

Next, we have Lucky Daye’s contribution to Magic Mike’s Last Dance soundtrack, “Careful,” which has already been streamed upwards of 75K times on Spotify since Friday’s debut. Additionally, from Kelela’s beautiful new Raven project, we’ve selected her single from earlier in the month – “Enough for Love.”

Twista Teased Plans To Update Beyoncé’s ‘Cuff It’ Remix With A Verse Of His Own

Beyoncé‘s Renaissance proves to be the gift that keeps on giving. Last weekend, the album won a Grammy for Best Dance/Electronic Album. And with several groovy, hypnotic tracks, who could deny that?

Ahead of the Grammys, Bey released a remix of her viral single, “Cuff It.” Set to the beat of Twista’s 2009 hit, “Wetter,” the “Cuff It (Wetter Remix)” features Bey delivering new harmonies, ad-libs, runs, and additional lyrics. Though Twista’s vocals aren’t sampled or replicated on the remix, he has revealed he wants to give the track an update of his own.

This week, Twista spoke with The Neighborhood Talk and teased a remix to the remix.

The blog asked him if he planned to add to the track. The rapper replied, “Working on it as we speak.”

Of course, as Beyoncé is known to work in secret, Twista didn’t reveal much else, but needless to say, we’re excited about this collab.

While tickets for the Renaissance World Tour may break the bank, and there are no signs of Bey dropping the album’s accompanying visuals anytime soon, she continues to keep fans fed with reimaginings of our favorite tracks.

In the meantime, you can stream “Cuff It (Wetter Remix)” on all digital music platforms here.

Twista Working On Remix To Beyoncé’s “Cuff It” After 2009’s “Wetter” Was Sampled

A remix you didn’t know was on the horizon will soon arrive from Twista. The fast-rapping music icon has reportedly worked on his version of Beyoncé’s acclaimed “Cuff It.” The Renaissance track’s original version was already enough for fans, but after DJ Esentrik chopped and screwed the song, it became a TikTok hit. Esentrik blended Twista’s 2009 single “Wetter” with “Cuff It,” slowing down the dance hit to make it a body-rolling R&B jam.

Earlier this week, Twista paid homage to “Wetter” on his Instagram page. Today (February 9), The Neighborhood Talk reported they spoke with the Chi-Town star, who confirmed that he’s working on his version of a “Cuff It” remix. “Working on it as we speak,” he was said to have exclaimed. This news was well-received by Hip Hop and R&B lovers who can’t wait to hear what he’s come up with.

Esentrik’s Twista-infused “Cuff It” remix wasn’t lost on Beyoncé, who decided to release it as an official single. “Soooo I’ve been hiding this for awhile and now I can finally say it!” Estrentik tweeted. “CUFF IT WETTER REMIX IS OFFICIAL! Thank you to @beyonce @parkwood and most importantly the DJs and fans that supported this from the start! Love to all!” Bey even added another verse to the track to spice things up.

Meanwhile, “Cuff It” was a big winner for Beyoncé at last weekend’s Grammy Awards. The track helped Bey become the most awarded artist in Grammy history, and in her speech, the singer thanked God, her family, and the queer community for their “love.” She said, “I’m trying not to be too emotional. I’m trying to just receive this night.” Despite her accomplishment, people still believed she deserved Album of the Year.

That title went to Harry Styles, who dominated the charts and social media spaces as well. Still, complaints poured in, and even Jay-Z recognized that The Recording Academy often misses important moments in music history. As news of the Renaissance Tour heats up—and rumors that it’s just the first of a trilogy take storm—the world is preparing for much more Beyoncé, sooner than later.

Beyoncé Surprises Fans With “CUFF IT (Wetter Remix)”

Before the arrival of RENAISSANCE last year, the Beyhive was starving for more content from Beyoncé. Following the project’s historic debut, the mother of three has been working harder than ever to keep her fans fed.

She began with an incredible return to the stage for the first time in years in Dubai. A roster of star-studded celebrities flew out to the UAE to witness the spectacle firsthand. At the same time, the rest of the world has been left to tirelessly rewatch the handful of sneakily captured videos circulating on Twitter from the show.

Beyoncé is still hearing adoring social media users sing her praise for the concert. In the time since her big resurgence, the announcement for her upcoming RENAISSANCE tour is now making headlines. Meanwhile, the world is desperately fighting to get their hands on coveted tickets.

Of course, only a select number of lucky shoppers will take home passes to the performances. To cheer up anyone who may have missed out, the “Baby Boy” hitmaker shared a remix of a RENAISSANCE fan favourite this weekend.

“CUFF IT (Wetter Remix)” landed on Beyoncé’s website on Friday (February 3), and is already receiving endless praise for its creativity. The song takes the vocalist’s singing from the album, then layers it over the instrumental of Twista’s “Wetter” from 2009.

The lyrics have been slightly altered as well. Now, the Houston native sings, “I can see the love in your eyes / Boy I know you wanna squeeze it, don’t lie / Double tap when I walk by, f*ck a reply,” on the bridge, obviously boosting the track’s already sultry energy.

At this time, Beyoncé’s “CUFF IT (Wetter Remix)” is available exclusively on the singer’s website. Purchase a digital download for yourself here, and revisit the song’s original cut above.

Beyoncé Updates A Twista Classic With Her Sexy New ‘Cuff It’ Remix

Beyoncé continues to keep the Beyhive fed. On top of finally announcing the tour dates for her upcoming Renaissance World Tour, she has shared an updated version of a fan-favorite from her Renaissance album.

Today (February 3), Bey dropped a sexy remix of “Cuff It,” which takes the vocals from the original album version, and mashes them up with the instrumental of a raunchy rap classic. On the “Cuff It (Wetter Remix),” Bey sings the song over the instrumental of Twista’s 2009 hit, “Wetter.”

Additionally, she updates the song, with a new opening verse.

As the song begins, Bey sings, “Baby make it rain / Don’t let go till it storms again / I pray this will never end.” Throughout the song, fans can hear new ad-libs and runs over the seductive, guitar-driven beat.

On the bridge, she sings, “I can see the love in your eyes / Boy I know you wanna squeeze it, don’t lie / Double tap when I walk by, f*ck a reply,” in addition to several NSFW ocean-inspired metaphors.

Bey has not said anything regarding the song’s release, however, Twista shared a message via Twitter with a link to the remix, saying, Happy Friday,” followed by three flame emojis.

As of now, “Cuff It (Wetter Remix)” is only available for purchase through Beyoncé’s official website.

Blxst Expertly Remixes Beyoncé’s Hit Song, “Cuff It”: Stream

Countless amazing albums arrived in 2022, though few of them had the same impact as Beyoncé’s RENAISSANCE. It’s been some time since the disco-inspired record landed last summer, but even still it remains in streaming rotation for many – including Blxst.

As you may recall, the R&B hitmaker had a big project of his own land last spring, Before You Go. On that, he worked with the likes of Arin Ray, Rick Ross, Zacari, and Grandmaster Vic.

Since then, we’ve also heard his vocals shine alongside Larry June on “Keep Calling” and with Babyface Ray and Nija on “Spend It.” Additionally, he appears on Kalan.FtFr’s “No Stoppin” as well as Chris Brown’s “Show It.”

It presently remains unclear what Blxst has planned for fans in 2023. However, his audience is undeniably eager to hear more music. Earlier this weekend, he delivered a treat in the form of a Beyoncé remix that fans are already loving.

Saturday (January 14) saw the arrival of the “Cuff It / Wetter” remix, available exclusively on the singer’s YouTube page. Spanning just a minute and a half, the short and sweet song markedly blends Queen B and the younger star for our enjoyment.

“I feel like fallin’ in love / I’m in the mood to f*ck something up / I need some drink in my cup, hey / I’m in the mood to f*ck something up,” they expertly sing the original lyrics together.
