Chloe Bailey Responds To Criticisms That She’s Too Dorky To Be A Pop Star

Chloe Bailey, on the other hand, has made a smooth transition. She earned critical acclaim for her first release post-Chloe x Halle. She has had to contend with criticism from fans who still see her as distractingly wholesome. Chloe Bailey addressed this criticism during a recent Instagram Live, and gave a perfect response.

Chloe Bailey refused to shy away from her detractors during her IG Live session. She read a comment that other pop stars might have preferred to avoid. “Her sexy act ain’t believable because she’s goofy and nerdy,” she read aloud. The singer’s rhetorical response to the comment effectively shut it down. “Why can’t I be both?,” she asked. She also dismissed the notion that her increased sex appeal is an “act” meant to entice more fans. “It’s not an act, honey,” she asserted. “But not everybody will have access to that. Women can be both. Women can be multi-faceted.” Chloe Bailey did make light of the criticism, towards the end, however, singing that she can be a “lady in the streets but a freak in the sheets.”

This is not the first time Chloe Bailey has been attacked on the basis of sex appeal. In 2023, she told People Magazine that the response to her song “Have Mercy” left her feeling self-conscious. “Deep inside it was killing me, to be honest,” she admitted. “I started to look down on myself even more than what I already was doing with my own insecurities.” The secret to Bailey’s confidence since? Simply ignoring what detractors have to say. “Once I ignored it,” she added. “I’ve been good.”

Bailey has also made a concerted effort to avoid easy categorization with her music. During a recent profile with Nylon, the singer claimed that she was categorized as “R&B” strictly on the basis of her skin color. Bailey also praised pop icons like Beyonce and Whitney Houston for defying these racially-based labels. “I was really proud of Beyonce doing Cowboy Carter,” she explained. “Because Black people originated country music. It’s just showing that possibilities are endless.”

Of course, this prompted quite the debate in the rapper’s comments section, with several followers criticizing him for seemingly supporting Trump. Amanda Seales even took to her own page to issue an apparent response. She slammed those who take “pictures with people who have actively harmed” the Black community.

Peter Rosenberg Slams Charlamagne Tha God For “Blindsiding” Tyla In Interview

It’s no secret that Peter Rosenberg has his fair share of issues with Charlamagne Tha God, and now, that lengthy list includes The Breakfast Club host’s recent interview with Tyla. Charlamagne sat down with the South African starlet earlier this week to discuss her career, viral moments, controversies, and more. Some felt as though he crossed the line when he asked about her identity as a South African “coloured” person. Her publicist hastily shut him down, so she refused to answer the question, which earned her some backlash in the end. Social media users began to accuse her of denying her Blackness, which she later had to address in a statement.

According to Rosenberg, however, he was well aware that she wouldn’t be willing to discuss the topic. In a new clip, he calls Charlamagne a bully for asking Tyla questions that were off-limits. He also accuses him of intentionally “blindsiding” the songstress and making her uncomfortable.

According to Rosenberg, Tyla’s team likely provided a list of topics that she’d prefer not to discuss in interviews. Instead of respecting this, Rosenberg claims that Charlamagne must have purposely gone down the list, hitting every single topic that wasn’t approved. “It’s a multitude of topics that he brought up that were on that list,” Rosenberg explained. “If you see the video, he took pride in sticking it to the label, and he did that not worrying about how it made Tyla feel… Who is a young artist, who is already apprehensive and uncomfortable, and made this experience miserable.”

As of late, fans have been looking back on Beanie Sigel’s 2004 attempted murder trial, and calling Jay-Z’s allegedly shady testimony into question. According to former Roc-A-Fella rapper Oschino, while he took the stand, it didn’t do much to help Sigel out. Earlier this month, he told Say Cheese that when asked whether or not he was willing to be held legally responsible for Sigel’s actions, Jay-Z told the judge no.

Of course, this prompted a debate about whether or not Jay-Z was in the wrong for this. It even prompted a discussion on The Joe Budden Podcast. For the most part, Budden and his co-hosts agreed that they would have done the same thing if they were in his position, and didn’t blame him for opting out of liability. They did wonder why Jay-Z decided to come to court in the first place if he wasn’t willing to vouch for Sigel fully, however.

Now, during another recent podcast episode, Budden revealed that he got a text from Jay-Z about the segment after it went live. According to him, upon reading it, he suspected that the mogul was under the influence. “He says cap, the story’s cap,” the personality explained. “He said, ‘Some sh*t so st*pid, you think it won’t grow legs but then you n***as…’” Budden went on to apologize for discussing it, jokingly dubbing himself a “rat” and noting how it’s none of his business.

While Jay-Z seemingly denies refusing to vouch for Sigel on the stand, Oschino insisted that he saw it first-hand, and said he was taken aback by it. “I was just thinking, ‘What did he come to court for then?’ If I got a homie and all I gotta say is, ‘I’m responsible for him for him to get out,’ I’m saying it every time,” he argued. Many listeners found it to be disrespectful, and 2Pac’s estate even threatened to sue him. Eventually, he pulled the track from streaming services to avoid any legal repercussions.

Jermaine Dupri has been a vocal critic of the use of AI in music for some time. Evidently, Drake is no exception. During a recent appearance at Atlanta’s United Masters’ SelectCon conference, he sat down with Steve Stoute to discuss the dangers of the rapidly developing technology. He used “Taylor Made Freestyle” as an example, describing how “dangerous” things could have gotten.

“If you’re going to use AI, you’ve got to use it in a smart way,” Dupri began. “Because the people that are touching it at this point, they don’t understand some of the things that it can damage, right? If you look at the Drake song where he used Snoop and 2Pac’s voice. I don’t think people listen to that and understand how serious people take 2Pac… I think Snoop understood why he shouldn’t answer to it because it could have gotten really dangerous.”

In the past, Dupri also criticized 23-year-old LA artist Sy The Rapper for using AI to replicate Kendrick Lamar’s voice on a track aimed at Drake.
