When they arrived at the scene, it was stated that they found “evidence of a shooting.” Not long after, police were also told that a shooting victim had just walked into a hospital to be treated for injuries.

Pop Smoke’s Mural Reportedly Vandalized

It’s been nearly three years now since Pop Smoke’s tragic murder from a fatal home invasion gone wrong. He was only 20 years old. Unfortunately, a mural put up in his memory was allegedly vandalized yesterday.

DJ Akademiks took to his Instagram to report the news. “Someone vandalized Pop Smoke’s mural in Brooklyn,” reads the caption from the streamer. “Word to my dead[,] yall n*ccas are mad childish like wtf,” says a screenshot of a Snapchat of the damage. Based on the photo, it appears as though somebody is responsible for writing “Woo K” over top of the mural.

The mural was finished shortly after his passing, in July of 2020. It honors the late rapper’s legacy in Canarsie, Brooklyn, where Pop grew up. According to Complex, Hattas Public Murals is responsible for undertaking and painting the tribute.

“Our hearts go out to the family, friends and fans of the late and beloved Pop Smoke. Much love to you all. And thank you to the community of #Canarsie for your overwhelming support as we painted this memorial mural,” the company wrote in an Instagram afterwards.

Four men have since been charged in Pop Smoke’s murder. They broke into the rented home while intending to rob the rapper of his jewelry. They took his watch during the invasion and subsequently sold it for $2,000. The alleged shooter is only 15 years old.

Ever since the “Dior” rapper’s untimely death, his estate has released two posthumous albums. The first of which is Shoot For The Stars Aim For The Moon. Releasing just five months after his passing, the project serves as a celebration of life and honors his legacy through songs like “Make It Rain” and “Got It On Me.”

The second one, Faith, saw a release in July of 2021. However, it isn’t as successful as its predecessor in continuing the Brooklyn native’s legacy. Fans and publications alike critique the album for containing too much filler content. Additionally, a common sentiment is that it has too many songs that are seemingly unfinished.

Long Live Pop Smoke. It’s certainly heartbreaking to see someone do this to a mural meant to honor him and his music.

Tory Lanez Apology Call Sealed His Fate, Suggests Meghann Cuniff

The verdict may have been handed down in the Tory Lanez case, but that doesn’t mean conversations have dissipated. The singer-rapper was found guilty on charges related to the 2020 shooting involving Megan Thee Stallion, real name Megan Pete. Lanez has adamantly denied responsibility, even after Megan named him as the person who shot her in her feet.

The two-week trial was filled with surprises, especially after Megan’s former best friend Kelsey Harris took the stand. Although she pleaded the fifth and denied remembering much, prosecutors played their interview with her for the court. The exchange took place in September 2022, and in it, Harris gave precise details that often mirrored Megan’s account.

However, Lanez’s supporters do not believe that justice was served. According to them, there wasn’t any evidence to secure a guilty verdict. Additionally, they believe there weren’t witnesses to place him as the shooter. However, both Harris and Megan stated they saw Lanez shoot the gun, as did the person who witnessed the incident from their bedroom.

During the trial, Law & Crime reporter Meghann Cuniff was in the courtroom and each day offered detailed updates via Twitter. She developed a reputation as “Meghann The Reporter” and was hailed for giving her straightforward updates about the ongoings of the prosecution and defense.

A clip of an interview with Cuniff has gone viral this week, and in it, she laid some rumors to rest. Although there was speculation regarding what could have sealed Lanez’s fate, Cuniff claims it was the rapper’s apology call to Harris that caused the jury to lean toward a guilty verdict.

“[The most significant piece of evidence] for me was the apology,” said Cuniff. “And we didn’t actually hear a whole lot about that during trial because, I think, prosecutors just kinda figured why bother. They played it in opening, they got it in evidence from somebody within the jail. And then, it kinda seemed like it was on the defense to try to explain that away.”

Cuniff admitted that although Lanez “didn’t mention a shooting or a gun in the call,” there wasn’t anything else anyone could say the call was about.

“They went through it line by line, focused on how he was asking about how Meg was in the hospital. This is his apology call to Kelsey. And we never really seemed to hear much about that from the defense at trial.”

Lanez is scheduled to face his sentencing in the coming weeks. He is looking at upwards of 22 years in prison.

YFN Lucci Reportedly Named As Witness In Young Thug Case

The tension between YFN Lucci and Young Thug was well documented on social media and in lyrics. The two Georgia rappers were, at a time, enjoying their freedom, but they both found themselves in trouble with the law. Lucci was arrested in connection to murder and racketeering charges, but while in jail, he was reportedly stabbed. Later, after Thugger was detained in the YSL RICO case, it was suggested that he was responsible.

As Young Thug continues denying culpability in the alleged crimes, others named in the RICO indictment are copping to plea deals. The seventh person to reportedly agree to a plea deal was named this week. After pleading guilty to a racketeering charge, Gunna enjoyed the holidays with his family.

Meanwhile, it has been stated that the District Attorney isn’t necessarily targeting the two dozen alleged YSL associates. According to reports, the authorities have named Thug as the leader of YSL as a criminal organization.

There have been conversations regarding using his lyrics against him during the trial. This would, of course, include Young Thug and Juice WRLD’s collaboration, “Bad Boy.”

During a Summer hearing, a prosecutor alleged that, on the track, Thug rapped about shooting at Lucci’s mother. This was an incident that did take place.

“[Thug] got into a beef, if you will, with another rapper by the name of Rayshawn Bennett, also known as YFN Lucci,” an attorney told the court back in June.

“At some point, Lucci’s mother was shot at and the song comes out, ‘Bad Boy,’ that says, uh, let’s see… ’You better watch the way you breathe around me ‘fore that breath be your last boy, Smith & Wesson .45 put a hole in his heart, better not play with me, killers stay with me, I shot at his mommy now he no longer mention me.’”

It is unclear if Lucci will testify against Young Thug, but he has reportedly been named as a witness. It is unclear what he will say if called to testify.

Gunna’s Lawyer Slams D.L. Hughley’s Take On Rapper’s Plea Deal

Gunna’s decision to cop an Alford plea in the YSL RICO case led to plenty of reactions. Some were initially excited for him to come home while others felt as if he turned on Young Thug.

D.L. Hughley discussed Gunna’s release in his latest interview with DJ Vlad. Hughley stated that Gunna’s career will be better off after cooperating than it would be if he was sitting in a jail cell. However, he feels prosecutors will still use Gunna’s plea against other defendants in the case. The government won’t “give nothing for nothing,” and thinks they’re ultimately trying to use each defendant to build their case against Young Thug.

Gunna’s attorney, Steve Sadow, stated on numerous occasions that although his client took a plea, his statement is inadmissible. If called to testify, Sadow said Gunna will invoke his fifth amendment right.

“In the statement that Gunna made in court, he acknowledged what he had to, but none of his statements are admissible against others in this case,” Sadow told Vlad. “The State is not permitted to use out-of-court statements as evidence in the RICO case. The State will not call him as a witness because he will use his 5th amendment. This neutralized Gunna to keep him out of the case. He is no longer part of this case.”

Still, Hughley wasn’t entirely convinced that Gunna’s statements won’t help prosecutors convict Young Thug.

Sadow fired back at Hughley in a series of DMs sent to Vlad while stating his client will not testify.

“I saw your interview of DL Hughley. To say it succinctly: he’s f…ing wrong,” Sadow wrote. Additionally, he’s willing to have a one-on-one conversation with Hughley on his show, “in which he restates his opinion and I take it apart.”

“See if he has the backbone to do it live where he doesn’t get to script what’s said,” he wrote. “Make sure he understands I ‘ain’t’ playing. Gloves off. He’s putting people’s lives in danger with his non-nothing opinions. He may be a comedian but this shit ain’t funny.”

Gervonta Davis 911 Call Shows Woman Begging For Help

He was just days away from entering the ring in a bout against Hector Luis Garcia, but now, Gervonta Davis is facing serious accusations. The champion boxer was reportedly arrested this week following an alleged domestic violence incident in South Florida. It was an unexpected report, especially considering most have been celebrating the family-friendly holiday.

However, several outlets reported that an unnamed woman told police that Davis struck her on the right side of her head with a “closed hand type slap.” The alleged victim reportedly does not cohabitate with Davis. ESPN stated she “suffered a small abrasion to the inside of her upper lip on the right side of her mouth.”

Davis is said to be out of jail after posting a $1,000 bond. He was detained on “a misdemeanor domestic violence charge of battery causing bodily harm.”

Following their initial reports of the incident, TMZ and ESPN returned with audio of the 911 call. In it, the woman tells the dispatcher, “Please help me. I need help, please! I’m trying to go home, I have a baby in the car and he attacked me in front of the kid … He’s going to kill me.”

That first call soon ended, but the woman reportedly dialed once again. This time, she was crying and said she needed to go.

“I’m in danger right now,” she added. Additionally, the woman pressed the emergency button inside her Mercedes Benz, alerting the call center, which contact the authorities.

The status of Davis’s Jan 7 fight against Garcia is unclear at this time. This is not the first time Davis has faced such accusations of abuse.

Takeoff’s Alleged Killer Denied Another Bond Reduction

It’s been nearly three months since the tragic and sudden death of Takeoff. In the early morning of November 1, the 28-year-old was shot and killed while at a private party in Houston.

The fatal shooting allegedly stemmed from an altercation over a dice game.

Authorities have since been successful in identifying the alleged shooter as Patrick Clark. He has subsequently been arrested and charged with murder in the case.

The upcoming trial is evidently causing some financial issues for the suspect. Shortly after his arrest, reports indicate that he requested money from the judge in order to hire a private investigator. The judge has since awarded him $5,000 in order to do so.

Earlier this month, the judge set Clark’s bond at $2 million. After his lawyer argued that the number was an excessive amount, the judge lowered it to $1 million. However, the alleged shooter’s attorneys still believe the seven-figure number is too high.

Nonetheless, a further request to lower the bond has reportedly been denied on Wednesday (December 28). Clark’s attorneys want the bond set at $330,000. They say his family members are preparing to cover his bond if the lowering takes place. However, it appears as though this won’t be happening.

The judge reportedly labels Clark as a flight risk if let out on bail. He was allegedly preparing to fly to Mexico after the murder. Upon his arrest, authorities discovered his passport and an itinerary for the country on his person.

Additionally, the judge has some evidence supporting the fact that Clark actually can afford the bond payment. This includes social media posts in which he’s posing with large sums of money, as well as alleged phone calls where he states that he could cover the original $2 million bond.

Long Live Takeoff.

University Professor Sues TikToker For Who Accused Her Of Idaho Murders

Rebecca Scofield, a professor at the University of Idaho, is suing a TikTok user for accusing her of the fatal stabbings of four students, last month. Scofield teaches history at the university while focusing on gender, sexuality, and the American West.

Scofield is accusing the TikToker, Ashley Guillard, of defamation and wants reimbursement for all applicable legal fees.

“Defendant Ashley Guillard—a purported internet sleuth—decided to use the community’s pain for her online self-promotion,” the lawsuit states.

It adds that Guillard “posted many videos on TikTok falsely stating that Plaintiff Rebecca Scofield (a professor at the University) participated in the murders because she was romantically involved with one of the victims.”

Wendy Olson, an attorney representing Scofield, addressed the lawsuit in a statement provided to CBS News on Tuesday.

“What’s even worse is that these untrue statements create safety issues for the Professor and her family,” Olson wrote. “They also further compound the trauma that the families of the victims are experiencing and undermine law enforcement efforts to find the people responsible in order to provide answers to the families and the public. Professor Scofield twice sent cease and desist letters to Ms. Guillard, but Ms. Guillard has continued to make false statements, knowing they are false. Thus, this lawsuit became necessary to protect Professor Scofield’s safety and her reputation.”

Guillard responded to the lawsuit in a TikTok video posted on Friday. In the clip, she further theorizes about Scofield’s involvement in the killings.

As for the crime itself, the four students were all killed at a rental home near campus on November 13. Police have yet to make any arrests no identify any suspects.

Ashley Guillard has previously posted videos about the death of Migos rapper Takeoff, as well as other killings.

A$AP Rocky & A$AP Relli Pause Civil Lawsuit Over 2021 Shooting

A$AP Rocky and A$AP Relli have agreed to put a pause on their trial. As we previously reports, Relli is suing Rocky after claiming that the “Fashion Killa” rapper shot him in 2021. According to reports, both parties have agreed to halt the civil trial due to Rocky’s criminal case.

The Harlem rapper is charged with two criminal counts of assault with a semiautomatic firearm for the incident. Rocky would reportedly have to invoke his 5th amendment in his trial with Relli to avoid statements that could incriminate him in the criminal prosecution.

Rocky was charged for the shooting last year after exiting an airplane with his pop star girlfriend, Rihanna. Relli went to the police just before Rocky’s detainment to name the star as the triggerman in the 2021 shooting. The A$AP Mob member claims Rocky fired four shots at him following a heated argument.

Back in September, Rocky responded to Relli’s criminal claims against him. “Relli’s injuries were caused solely, directly and proximately by the negligent or intentional acts or omissions” of someone else. The documents also state that that Relli “failed to exercise reasonable care to avoid the consequences of harm.” The “DMB” rapper’s lawyer Joe Tacopina called the lawsuit “an extortion” attempt.

“Rocky didn’t commit a crime,” Tacopina said. “It was an extortion attempted by a former associate, who threatened to make false criminal accusations if Rocky didn’t pay him. Rocky didn’t commit a crime.” The news comes weeks after Rihanna shared the first photos of her and Rocky’s seven month old son.
