XXXTENTACION Killer Seeks New Trial, Blasts Judge

One of the three men sentenced to life in prison for the murder of XXXTENTACION is seeking a new trial. According to AllHipHop, Trayvon Newsome claimed that the court committed various mistakes during his trial alongside codefendants Michael Boatwright and Dedrick Williams. Moreover, Newsome suggested that evidence did not support the verdict and conviction and its presumed weight was contrary to law. Also, he maintained that the judge acted erroneously by overruling defense objections and sustaining state objections. In addition, the 24-year-old blasted the discrepancy between denying defense motions and granting state motions.

To elaborate, Newsome believes the court was incorrect in denying his team’s motions for a mistrial. Not only that, but he claimed the court provided unsatisfactory curative directions to lessen the impact of improper prejudicial evidence give to the jury. His defense team added that the court’s decision to deny separating the defendants hurt his chances at a fair trial. This is due to differing strategies and arguments employed by Willams and Boatwright’s counsel. Said decision caused the other codefendants’ shortcomings in their case to negatively impact Newsome’s defense.

XXXTENTACION Murder Convict Calls For New Trial

For example, the former attempted to rope Drake into the trial by suggesting he called out a hit on X. Williams and his defense team cited lyrics from some of the Canadian rapper’s songs like “On BS” and “I’m Upset.” Furthermore, they alleged that beef started between Drizzy and the Florida rapper after the former used the latter’s flow on his 2017 track “KMT.” Despite these arguments, the court still found all three suspects guilty of the crime and sentenced them to life in prison.

“After 5 long years you may finally Rest In Peace,” X’s son’s mother wrote on Instagram after the verdict. “Gekyume will never get to meet you earthside but it is my job as a mother to ensure I share those special memories with him. Jah was robbed of his life and Geky was robbed of his father. For this, I will never truly have complete peace but justice being served today helps the healing process. Thank you for the love and support. I am eternally grateful for all of the supporters, your positivity, and prayers have carried these last 5 years.” Log back into HNHH for the latest news and updates on this case and on XXXTENTACION.

BTB Savage Shooting Suspect Wanted By Police

Houston’s police force announced that they have a suspect in the tragic and fatal shooting of rapper BTB Savage. Moreover, they said on Friday (April 7) that 40-year-old Montrel Lenard Burley is a wanted suspect in the case. Not only that, but they said that they’re also looking for at least one other individual suspected to be guilty for the crime. Savage, real name Darrell Gentry, was fatally shot in Houston on March 30 and pronounced deceased on the scene. Paramedics responded to the 26-year-old’s death and informed police on the case. According to witnesses, officials maintained, two suspects sped off in a black SUV following the shooting.

Furthermore, federal agents also formed part of the investigation, which might be part of something larger. To elaborate, the fallen MC’s family believes his passing was revenge for a San Antonio shooting. Earlier in the year, a man named Omar Richardson reportedly tried to rob BTB Savage. Allegedly, the rapper’s girlfriend shot and killed Richardson in self-defense, and he boasted about it on social media and in an interview with VladTV.

Police Name Suspect In BYB Savage Shooting

“I said ‘Take that off social media,’” BTB Savage’s mother Bernita Ward expressed to ABC 13. “Let this family mourn in peace. They were taunting my son, though, telling him they were going to kill the family, make his momma cry and kill his son. I told my son, ‘Don’t respond. Let it go.’ But their family member came to rob my son. The moral of this story is two mothers lost two amazing sons and that their children would be raised without fathers. That’s the sad thing.” In addition to their revelation of a suspect, police also said anyone with information should reach Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS or the HPD Homicide Division at 713-308-3600.

Unfortunately, said events in the rap world have become far too common. While many debated the case online, many lost sight of the tragic loss of life in the first place. No matter how much he apparently boasted, it’s a sad day when a promising life and career is cut short. For the latest on the BTB Savage case, check back in with HNHH.

Tory Lanez Retrial Request “Lacks Substance,” Prosecutors Say

The case of Tory Lanez and his shooting of Megan Thee Stallion isn’t over yet, but prosecutors seem determined to uphold the original verdict. Moreover, they expressed that the rapper’s motion for a new trial “lacks substance” according to court law. Los Angeles County prosecutors gave a Response to the Defendant’s Motion for a New Trial, and that motion surfaced on Thursday (April 6). In it, attorneys Kathy Ta and Alexander Bott point to a number of reasons as to why Tory’s request is unfounded. With this development, the court’s response to each side will prove crucial to his accountability

First, prosecutors pointed to the main reason why a defendant may request a new trial: if they can “demonstrate a reversible error or other defect.” Furthermore, the defense team argued for a retrial based on evidence that they didn’t fight back against in court. As such, the prosecution did not identify any significant “error” or “defect” that calls for a retrial. They maintained the defense had the chance to comment on said evidence. Another point they brought up was Lanez’s access to counsel under the Sixth Amendment, which the defense team denied.

Prosecution Blasts Tory Lanez’s Retrial Request

Also, no evidence (including DNA) was determined to be improper in the trial. Not only that, but said evidence wasn’t objected to at trial, making it “proper” in the legal sense. Said conclusions mean that the defense can’t retroactively dismiss the evidence or a faulty proceeding under rule of law. In addition, prosecutors disputed Tory Lanez’s claims that he couldn’t testify and that they violated his rights of due process.

“Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge David J. Herriford is scheduled to consider Lanez’s new trial request Monday (April 10) at 10:30 a.m.,” Law & Crime reporter Meghan Cuniff tweeted. “Lanez was to be sentenced that day if Herriford rejects the motion. But the sentencing is now expected to be delayed to late April or early May.” Tory Lanez faces up to 22 years in prison and deportation to Canada ahead of sentencing. Frenchie Sentenced To 12 Years In Prison For Botched Burglary

Strong Island MC Frenchie was sentenced to 12 years in prison on Thursday (April 6) after jury conviction on charges stemming from a botched burglary. Moreover, the specific charges include two violent felonies: three counts of first-degree burglary and one count of second-degree burglary. Not only that, but the 37-year-old, real name Gregg Hogan, will also serve five years of post-supervision after jail time according to Suffolk County District Attorney Ray Tierny. Furthermore, many might recognize his name for introducing Nicki Minaj to her former manager Debra Antney. As such, he has a unique connection to one of rap’s biggest stars.

However, Frenchie went through hard times, having survived multiple gunshot wounds including one to his neck. Unfortunately, it seems like that hard life didn’t elude him. According to Patch, Frenchie engaged in robbery with three other men. These are Miguel Ruiz, Hakim Muhammad, and Donte Thomas. From what reports indicate, they kicked in a house door to rob it. What’s more is that they carried guns, thinking it would be a money and weed stash property. Turns out there was a whole family inside.

Frenchie Facing Time For Failed Robbery

Moreover, the recording artist encountered a mother, father, and autistic teenage son, whom were all asleep at the time of the invasion. D.A. Tierny claimed that Frenchie and his cohorts told the victims to lie face down as they searched the home. When the teenage son did not respond, one of the men allegedly struck him with his pistol. As a result, he bore facial cuts and bruises when police arrived at the scene. “The pistol-whipping of an innocent autistic young man in a failed home invasion is among the most outrageous crimes we have prosecuted,” the D.A. stated. “Hopefully, this defendant’s conviction and significant prison sentence provides the victims with some sense of relief and security.”

Meanwhile, Frenchie’s defense team maintained that he did not participate in the robbery or serve as the getaway driver, as the prosecution claims. “He was sitting in the car,” his attorney Anthony Scheller expressed after the sentencing. “I argued to [Supreme Court Justice Timothy P. Mazzei] that he didn’t tie anyone up, he didn’t have a gun, [and] he didn’t pistol whip anybody.” Also, Scheller hinted that the 37-year-old will likely seek appeal. Cash App Founder’s 911 Call & Video Footage Of Him Seeking Help After Stabbing Surface

New footage and audio surfaced from the murder of Cash App founder Bob Lee. He passed away after being stabbed in San Francisco. Moreover, the 911 call that leaked online following his tragic passing detailed the moments right before he collapsed. “There’s a male screaming ‘help,’ saying ‘someone stabbed me,’” a dispatcher narrates in the clip. “Advised he is bleeding out. He’s outside on the street.” Moreover, video footage obtained by Daily Mail shows Lee approaching a vehicle, presumably asking for help. After the car sped off, he went to the Portside apartment building at 403 Main St.

CCTV footage showed the 43-year-old holding his phone in one hand and trying to dial the building intercom with his other. Furthermore, said attack occurred around 2:35 a.m. in the city’s Rincon Hill neighborhood according to local officials. No suspects were announced by police, so no arrests have been made, either. “[He] did comment on San Francisco deteriorating, which is why he actually had relocated to Miami,” friend Jake Shields revealed to NewsNation during an interview. “So I’m not sure why he’s going back there to get a little business back in San Francisco for a couple of days.”

New Details Emerge Surrounding Stabbing Of Cash App Founder Bob Lee

“We are not commenting on evidence nor will we speculate on the circumstances surrounding this horrific crime,” San Francisco Police spokesman Sgt. Adam Lobsinger stated via video on Thursday (April 6). “Although we will commit the necessary resources and personnel to this investigation, we want to assure everyone in San Francisco the Department is staffed and ready to respond to all calls for service.”

However, this crime caused invoked much criticism of the city’s perceived soft-on-crime policies. “This is a senseless tragedy that I know is made worse by the fact that no suspect is yet in custody,” San Francisco Supervisor Matt Dorsey tweeted. He represents the district in which the perpetrators attacked Lee. “I’ve also heard from many constituents in the area. Some of whom already voiced concerns to me about public safety challenges. I’m asking everyone to cooperate with police in their investigation, especially those with access to surveillance video that may help.” Come back to HNHH for more big updates on this story.

Chief Keef Fan Recites His Lyrics While Getting Arrested

Sosa fans go hard for the Chicago pioneer, even as they’re getting dragged into a police car. Moreover, a Chief Keef fan recently went viral on TikTok and Instagram for reciting some of his lyrics while getting arrested. More specifically, he cited his classic 2014 track “Earned It,” from which he could’ve gotten a slew of classic Sosa bars. However, the one he picked was just too fitting to pass up on, even adding on to the situation with a twist of irony. “‘But I’m bonding right out, I ain’t broke,’” he exclaimed. “‘N***as ain’t getting no money, it ain’t a joke.’ And I’m out on bond! F**k you talkin’ ’bout? And I’m out on bond and I just out yesterday!”

Furthermore, the Chief Keef fan in question apparently goes by Lil B (no, not the Based God). As bystanders and even the police laughed along, the two officers put him in handcuffs as he kept letting loose. I guess Lil B spent his money because he earned it. Regardless, it’s one of the more notable Chief Keef references in recent memory.

Chief Keef Fan Reps His Bars- Even While Getting Arrested

Of course, such callbacks are peppered prolifically throughout the rap world given the 27-year-old’s massive influence. During our interview with GloRilla, she named Chief Keef as her favorite rapper, and his high-energy rawness definitely shows up in her own work in a fresh new way. When talking to HopHopDX on a red carpet, she went into further detail concerning her Glo Boy fandom. “She say she love me, whatever that is,” she recited at the 2022 AMAs from Keef’s “Save That S**t.” “Do me a favor, save that s**t.”

“I never have one song when I say this, but Chief Keef — all of his music just made me want to rap,” she told Posted On The Corner. “You can hear it in the songs that I make; I be liking to make people [move]… and Chief Keef do that to me! He make me just wanna get turnt up. So yeah, Chief Keef, all his songs. I’m a big Chief Keef fan.” For the latest updates on the legendary Sosa and more fan moments, stay logged into HNHH.

YSL Codefendant Facing Mental Evaluation For Claiming Trump Gave Him Legal Advice

The RICO trial of YSL and Young Thug just encountered yet another roadblock after Fulton County Chief Judge Ural Glanville ordered a mental evaluation of a codefendant. Moreover, YSL affiliate Jayden Myrick claimed to receive legal advice from former President Donald Trump, President Joe Biden, and U.S. Senator Jon Ossoff. This followed various delays in the jury selection process, which is expected to take months to complete. Since January, the court has searched for jurors to evaluate the crimes and fates of Young Thug and 13 other codefendants. With this new development, the trial might take longer to get underway.

Furthermore, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported that Judge Glanville expressed concern for Myrick’s statements. Last month, his attorneys made a request for a hearing to establish the 22-year-old’s competency to represent himself in court. Said request came directly as a result of his wishes. “I’m not the regular inmate,” he reportedly stated during the hearing. “I be with Joe Biden and Donald Trump and they be talking to me. Donald Trump is going to get me out.” Afterwards, he struggled to make himself clear in the court’s eyes. “I have some serious concerns about his present competency,” the judge remarked after asking if he took medication.

Judge Orders Mental Evaluation Of Codefendant In YSL Case

However, the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that Myrick did receive medical prescriptions, which included an antipsychotic. Still, the codefendant maintained that he doesn’t need treatment via said medication. “I don’t need the medication,” he allegedly told the court. Not only that, but he expressed dissatisfaction with his legal team, alleging that his defense wasn’t on his side.

Given these statements, Judge Glanville ordered a mental evaluation of Myrick within 48 hours. Moreover, this evaluation would determine whether the alleged YSL coconspirator is competent to stand trial among his cohorts. If the evaluation rules otherwise, his case could face separate trial so as to not cause further delays for his 13 codefendants. As such, perhaps this won’t affect the case’s timeline as the situation suggests. Despite those hopes, given how many twists and turns this case underwent, it’s not out of the question. Pop Smoke Murder Suspect Pleads Guilty, Sentenced To 4 Years: Report

The death of Pop Smoke left a hole in the rap game, especially at a time when New York was reclaiming its sound. The rapper was shot and killed in the Hollywood Hills during a botched home invasion. Though there have been a number of conspiracy theories surrounding his death, police eventually apprehended three individuals they believe broke into the mansion on Feb. 19th, 2020, and murdered the rapper.

According to Associated Press, one of the individuals connected to the Brooklyn rapper’s death has pleaded guilty. The 20-year-old, who was 17 at the time of the murder, copped to one count of involuntary manslaughter on Thursday. Additionally, he pleaded guilty to another count of home invasion robbery. As part of the guilty plea, he received a sentence of four years and two months in a juvenile facility. Since he was a minor at the time of the shooting, the judge put a publication ban on his name.

Throughout the investigation, detectives and prosecutors said that the three individuals located Pop Smoke’s mansion after he posted a picture of a gift bag with the address a day prior. The three individuals broke into the mansion where they found Pop Smoke in the shower. A struggle between Pop and one of the individuals broke out, leading to one of the attackers, who was 15 at the time, shooting the rapper in the back three times. The men left with diamond-encrusted Rolex and $2000 in cash.

Since Pop Smoke’s passing, his estate and friends have kept his name alive. A few months after his passing, 50 Cent, and Steven Victory released Shoot For The Stars Aim For The Moon, which boasted a star-studded tracklist including Quavo, Lil Baby, Future, Roddy Ricch, Fivio Foreign, Karol G, and more. A year later, they released Faith, which also included a number of heavy-hitter features. However, there hasn’t been anything in recent times indicating that another posthumous album is in the pipeline. We’ll keep you posted on any more updates on the murder trial surrounding Pop Smoke’s death.

Tee Grizzley’s Twin Gets Four Years In Prison

Baby Grizzley, twin brother of Tee Grizzley, just got sentenced to four years and nine months in federal jail on convicted charges of illegal gun possession. Moreover, the case stems from a December 8, 2020 nighttime traffic stop for driving without his headlights on, according to the Justice Department. Not only that, but Royal Oaky police pulled the rapper over, real name Marcellus Wallace, along codefendant Nolan Dasgupta-Francis and another individual. Furthermore, police allegedly approached the vehicle from the driver’s side and saw two red solo cups in two cup holders near the driver’s seat.

Then, Wallace and Dasgupta-Francis said they were the ones drinking, but not driving. Allegedly, the latter pulled out a partially drunk bottle of Johnnie Walker Black. After police asked all three to exit the vehicle due to “open intoxicants,” they searched the car. During the inspection, they found “two fully loaded semiautomatic pistols on the floorboard where Wallace had been seated,” and found two more near where Dasgupta-Francis sat. According to court records, Grizzley tried to bribe the driver to take the blame while the two sat in the back of a police car following the arrest.

Tee Grizzley’s Twin Gets Nearly Five Years Behind Bars

What’s more is that he had just received $300,000 cash in advance for signing a record deal, and reportedly offered the driver $20,000 to take the hit. However, said efforts proved unsuccessful. Dasgupta-Francis faced a 45-month federal prison sentence, and both he and Grizzley also face parole violation charges. Officials arrested Wallace less than two months after he finished serving time for robbery in a state prison.

“This case demonstrates ATF’s core mission to stop violent criminals from illegally possessing firearms,” Assistant Special Agent in Charge Craig Kailimai stated. “We will continue to work side by side with our local law enforcement and U.S. Attorney partners to make our communities safer.” Shortly after Baby Grizzley’s arrest, his brother Tee Grizzley took to Instagram to express his heartbreak and support. “Free Bro this S**t just crushed me but ima hold this s**t down like I been doing my boy I got us @babyygrizzleytd,” he wrote. Check out that post below and come back to HNHH for the latest on Baby Grizzley’s case and Tee Grizzley.
