J Cole Leaves Ari Lennox Shocked At London Concert

Ari Lennox is taking over Europe for the age/sex/location tour but her concert in London was something else, thanks to a surprise guest. Lennox hosted two concerts at the Eventim Apollo in London this week. As she closed out the second night, she was joined by the Dreamville head honcho, J. Cole. The K.O.D rapper creeped out from backstage and apparently, didn’t give Ari much of a notice. As Ari Lennox dove into “Shea Butter Baby,” J Cole jumped on stage to help her perform the song.

As you could imagine, the fans loved the moment. The surprise cameo from Cole clearly caught her off-guard, in the best way possible. In a video shared on her Instagram page, Ari Lennox covers her mouth in shock as J Cole, with a grin from ear-to-ear, comes through to perform his verse on the song. “I can’t believe @realcoleworld and @dreamville surprised me at my London show like this,” she captioned the post which included a video of the special moment. “I love y’all so much.”

J. Cole’s On A Roll

J. Cole’s surprise appearance at Ari Lennox’s concert comes just after he announced a deluxe edition of Born Sinner for the 10-year anniversary. The rapper announced that a gold vinyl of the project will be available to celebrate the milestone. “Born Sinner turns 10 next month!,” the caption reads. “@realcoleworld [Purple devil emoji] in celebration we’re releasing a gold deluxe vinyl edition available for preorder now!” Although many fans were undoubtedly excited about the new drop, many also reflected on how it’s been 10 years since the project dropped.

Additionally, J Cole also recently came through with a stunning verse on Lil Durk’s latest single, “All My Life.” Serving as the lead song off of Almost Healed, J. Cole earned massive praise for his verse, especially as he tackles the concept of retirement and the rising number of deaths in the hip-hop community. Hopefully, we’ll get some news on It’s A Boy in the near future. For now, check out his appearance at Ari Lennox’s concert above and share your thoughts in the comments.

Snoop Dogg Among Stars Honoring Willie Nelson

Willie Nelson is a country music icon. Born in 1933, Nelson’s music career began with a failed record in 1956 while he was working as a radio announcer. However, just two years later, he would get a job as a club singer in Houston. By 1961, Nelson was making a name for himself with music that went against the traditional sound of his new home, Nashville. Nashville would become the place that Nelson was best associated with as his stardom grew.

Nelson has since gone on to record 99 albums, 73 of them solo. His most recent album, I Don’t Know A Thing About Love, was released in March 2023. He has also appeared in over 30 films, as well as writing and co-authoring numerous books. His last film role was in the 2018 musical film, Paradox. Willie Nelson also loves weed and thus, is one of the most vocal advocates for marijuana legalization. At the time of writing, 31 US states have either decriminalized or legalized weed. Sadly, this does not include Nelson’s home state of Texas.

Stars Show Out For Willie Nelson’s 90th

To celebrate Willie Nelson turning 90 years old on April 29, the music world showed out for a special concert at The Hollywood Bowl. The concert was called Long Story Short: Willie Nelson 90, A Star-Studded Concert Celebrating Willie’s 90th Birthday and featured a host of big-name musical stars. Speaking to PEOPLE about the event, Nelson said “I have been so fortunate this far that I just hope for things to continue the way they are. I think it would be too much to ask for anything more than what I already have experienced.”

While everyone from Beck to Dave Matthews performed, perhaps the most special guest was Snoop Dogg himself. Snoop and Nelson share a special bond thanks to their mutual love of marijuana. “I love Snoop. He and I are great friends — have been forever. It was a lot of fun just hanging out and getting to do some things — Snoop and I,” Nelson told PEOPLE. The pair performed Nelson’s 2012 hit Roll Me Up And Smoke Me When I Die together at the concert.

6ix9ine Honors XXXTentacion At Concert In Romania

6ix9ine paid tribute to the late XXXTentacion on stage during a performance in Romania over the weekend. The late rapper was shot and killed near a motorcycle dealership in Deerfield Beach, Florida back in 2018. He was just 20 years old.

“One of my friends died back in 2018. And at all my shows, I wanna keep his name alive,” 6ix9ine told the audience. “Do you guys know XXXTentacion?” He added: “Before he died, he messaged me and said, ‘don’t let your guard down and be safe and I love you.’” He went on to refer to X as his “best” competitor in the music industry.

The performance comes after the release of 6ix9ine’s newest song, “Y Ahora,” which he dropped earlier this week. It isn’t the first time that 6ix9ine has taken an uncharacteristically serious tone while discussing the death of X. Back in 2018, he paused another show to praise the late artist. “Sometimes I feel like I do too much trolling. Sometimes I feel like I do too much,” 6ix9ine said at the time. “And tomorrow’s not promised, you know what I mean? I feel like someone might get the wrong image of me. You could be here today and be gone tomorrow. X spread nothing but positivity. Always called me on the phone, ‘Danny, are you okay?’ ‘Danny, you’re doing this the right way just try to do more of this. You could call me, talk to me like what’s going on.’… Knowing that he was nothing but positive and nobody wanted to harm him.”

Prior to his death, XXXTentacion had become one of the biggest rising hip-hop artists in the world. His breakout single, “Look at Me,” peaked at number 34 on the US Billboard Hot 100 launching him into mainstream success. His debut album 17 is certified triple-platinum in the US and reached number two on the Billboard 200. Further, his second album ? debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 and is certified quadruple-platinum in the US. Check out 6ix9ine’s comments on XXXTentacion below.

Curren$y Gets Paid In Weed To Perform Specific Song

Curren$y has been making headlines lately. Wiz Khalifa claimed that Curren$y got him into Air Jordans. Meanwhile, he dropped his new album, a collaboration with Jermaine Dupri called For Motivation Use Only Vol. 1. The artist, also known as Spitta, is also a major advocate for the use and legalization of marijuana.

Currently, 22 states have legalized weed, while a further nine have decriminalized it. This includes Curren$y’s home state of Louisiana, where it was decriminalized in 2021. However, Louisiana does not allow the home growth of weed for personal use. Furthermore, Curren$y’s love of that sticky green has led to a hilarious moment at a local show.

Curren$y Claims Fan Gave Him A Pound Of Weed

Curren$y shared a the reel of an attendee at a recent concert. The man can be shown throwing bags of weed onto the stage, which Curren$y accepts gratefully. In the caption of the post, the rapper reveals that “The homie threw a zip errrtime a dropped one of the records he really wanted to hear haha almost left with a pound haha”. More recently, he has posted an image of him enjoying a joint backstage. It’s unknown that photo features him lighting up his concert gift.

Apparently, it quickly became a trend among the audience, with a number of audience members also showering the performer in that good good. As Curren$y notes, he left the concert with almost a pound of weed to his name. For a man who had fought for marijuana as long and hard as he has, that’s a big payday. Curren$y is due to begin a small tour in early May. According to a post on his Instagram, he will hit up Sacramento, San Francisco, Seattle, Los Angeles, and Chicago. Maybe leaving Curren$y a leafy gift will become a custom at his concerts going forwards. The clip also comes days after 4/20, the annual celebration of all things weed. What do you think about Curren$y’s concert gift? Would you give up your weed for your favorite rapper? Be sure to check back at HotNewHipHop for all things hip hop related.

Tyler released the original version of CALL ME IF YOU GET LOST back in June 2021. The album featured collaborations with DJ Drama, 42 Dugg, YoungBoy Never Broke Again, Lil WayneLil Uzi VertPharrell Williams, and many more across its 16-song tracklist. It debuted atop the Billboard 200 while moving 169,000 album-equivalent units and has since gone platinum.

Last month, Tyler appeared on the Hulu series RapCaviar Presents. During the show, he reflected on his feeling about being a rapper. “We’re good with words. We’re good with rhythm. We know pockets. We hear a collection of sounds and one thing and say, ‘Ahh, I know what could go over this,’ that takes a skill,” he said. “You could be multiple choice. You could be into this and you could be into this, and you could be into that. It’s A,B,C.” Tyler continued: “I’m a rapper. I’m also a producer. I’m also a fucking hot dog. You got some young kid like 13 thinking, ‘Oh I got to make bravado rap, [or] damn I gotta talk about what you think you would have to talk about in a rap song,’ [but] no, you don’t. When I’m flexing on these songs, it’s just about the shit that I really like.”
