The two both appeared at ComplexCon in Las Vegas for a live taping of an interview on Drink Champs over the weekend. When the topic of Death Row came up, Dre explained how “proud” he was of Snoop for the move.

“Let me tell you something, man. I was so upset when I heard that Snoop was doing the Death Row sh*t at the beginning,” he said. “Like, ‘N****, that sh*t has so much bullsh*t following it.’ But now, I’m so happy about it and so impressed at what my brother’s doing because he’s taken the thing that we created and brought it back to life. I see his vision now. I appreciate it, and I’m proud of it.” The praise left Snoop emotional, responding: “That made me feel good. Thank y’all. Y’all tryna make a n**** cry.”

Snoop Dogg & Dr. Dre Reveal How Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us” Unified The West Coast

Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre discussed the impact of Kendrick Lamar’s viral diss track, “Not Like Us,” while taping a live episode of Drink Champs at ComplexCon over the weekend. In doing so, they argued that the song unified the West Coast and it’s much more important to focus on that than the feud between Lamar and Drake.

“It unified the West,” Snoop began. “So, it may have been disrespectful, but it’s hip-hop, so it’s part of hip-hop. I chose no sides because I have no individual cause with that. That’s a grown man going against a grown man, but what it did do is unite the West and make everybody out here start looking at each other like how much love we got for each other. It was a Blood war where the Bloods had a peace treaty. You had certain Crip gangs that came together and became real friends as opposed to being enemies. So, that record did a lot for us on the West as far as unite so we should speak on that.”

As for Dr. Dre, his stance on the song is unsurprising considering he joined Kendrick Lamar on stage at The Pop Out in Los Angeles, earlier this year. Lamar dropped the song amid a fiery feud with Drake, which saw both artists share several diss tracks aimed at one another.

Lil Yachty Goes Off On Critics Of His Air Force 1 Collaboration During Fiery ComplexCon Rant

Lil Yachty fired back at critics of his Nike Air Force 1 collaboration while speaking at the Sneaker of the Year panel at ComplexCon 2024 over the weekend. Bimma Williams, who was in the crowd for the event, had recently shared a video online calling out Yachty with several insults. He had brought up Yachty’s recent admission about having only just heard JAY-Z’s Reasonable Doubt and The Black Album, while downplaying his credentials as a sneakerhead.

“Everyone has their own take on a sneaker,” Yachty began, as noted by Complex. “So if I want to make an Air Force and I want it to be white and blue—if you don’t like it, that’s cool, but the way he tried to make it seem as if like ‘this n***a can’t make a shoe because he doesn’t respect the culture.’ What the f*ck are you talking about n***a? I’ve been into this sneaker sh*t for 15 years, when I had five cents to my name. I can tell you about any kind of shoe. What are you talking about? You clearly don’t know my history on sneakers and how involved I am in this sh*t.”

Fans on social media have been having mixed reactions to Yachty’s remarks. “Yachty crashing out over someone’s opinion since he knows them sh*ts wack. Who cares if someone don’t like em just like how he don’t like certain shoes. Next time try to make em better so you won’t be criticized and cry about it,” one user responded to the comments on Instagram. Another wrote: “I’m a fan of bimma, Yachty, and the shoe…but as a man Yachty was doing too much here.”

Snoop Dogg Defends JAY-Z For Picking Kendrick Lamar As The Super Bowl Headliner

Snoop Dogg has come to the defense of JAY-Z and his selection of Kendrick Lamar as the headliner for the Super Bowl LIX Halftime Show. Discussing the upcoming event during a live episode of Drink Champs at ComplexCon 2024, Snoop explained that JAY is giving a platform to hip-hop artists that they never had access to before.

“What we need to think about is that before JAY-Z got control of the Super Bowl wasn’t no n**gas performing. So let’s go back to the essence of the beginning of bridge,” Snoop said. “He’s creating a wave of artists to have an opportunity to perform. If you are a good artist and you are a great artist, your time will come. I was never crying about it or mad about it when Dr. Dre called me and asked me to get his back. I was there for him, but I didn’t feel like I was supposed to be there, I was in demand to be there. This is a big event. People looking at everything when they picked the person to perform, you should just be honored that hip-hop is being able to be seen on that platform for all of us and not hate on the next.”

Snoop’s defense of JAY-Z comes after Lil Wayne and many of his supporters voiced their disappointment that he wasn’t given the opportunity. Wayne has complained about the NFL’s selection of Kendrick Lamar on several occasions in recent months. Performing at his Lil Weezyana Fest, earlier this month, Wayne described headling the event as something that was “ripped away” from him.

Travis Scott Announced As ComplexCon’s Artistic Director

Complex recently announced that Travis Scott will have a much larger role for their ComplexCon in Las Vegas on November 16 and 17 than we originally thought. They already announced him and his Cactus Jack collective as headliners for Sunday (November 17), preceded by his good friends Playboi Carti, Opium, and Metro Boomin on Saturday (November 16). However, it turns out that La Flame is now the Artistic Director for the event as a whole, per a press release that details the moves below. He will curate the music, art, and streetwear extravaganza with his Cactus Jack brand, which will also bring exclusive merch designs and, more likely than not, sneaker drops and other collabs.

Not only that, but Travis Scott will bring “CactusCon” to life for Complex‘s event even when folks visiting the festival are chilling in their hotel. The Resort World will transform into “Cactus Jack Hotel,” and ComplexCon will also seemingly immerse itself into his universe. What’s more is that the Houston superstar has more accolades and achievements on the way. BET will honor him with the “I Am Hip-Hop” award at the 2024 BET Hip-Hop Awards, which will air very soon this month.

We look forward to celebrating him at BET Hip-Hop Awards 2024.” With all this in mind, it seems like Travis will close out another great year with a festival following his and Complex‘s vision, which is a fitting celebration.

Meanwhile, Travis Scott is also expanding his already huge resumé thanks to a modeling gig at a VETEMENTS fashion show for Paris Fashion Week. We wonder whether or not we will see him on the runway again in the future. Either way, there’s a lot coming up for Cactus Jack fans to celebrate and enjoy.

Travis Scott And Playboi Carti Tease “OOCactus” Concert With New Snippet

Travis Scott and Playboi Carti have devoted fanbases. Seriously, fans love these two artists. They are among the most revered names in the genre, mainly due to the ways in which they experiment with it. And pretty soon, fans will get a chance to witness their shared experimentation in a concert setting. On August 7, Travis Scott and Playboi Carti announced that they will be putting on concerts at the upcoming ComplexCon. Branded “OOCactus,” the concerts will take place on November 16-17, 2024.

Travis Scott and Playboi Carti have appeared on the same bill multiple times in the past. Both of them were at Rolling Loud Europe in July, and Carti joined Scott for a L.A. performance as recently as 2023. The two artists have a kinship, which is what makes their joint announcement all the more exciting. The fun didn’t stop there, though. Scott and Carti decided to tease a snippet of a brand new song minutes after the joint concerts were revealed. The snippet doesn’t have a title, but the snippet is everything fans could want. Lush synths carry the first portion of the snippet, before thundering drums kick in and Travis Scott can be heard vocally riffing.

Travis Scott And Playboi Carti Previewed A New Collab

Travis Scott and Playboi Carti have a storied track record together. The former appeared on “Love Hurts” from Carti’s breakthrough tape, Die Lit, as well as “Green and Purple” and “BACKR00MS. ” Playboi Carti has returned the favor by dropping memorable bars on Scott’s “FE!N.” The “00Cactus” concerts are also an encouraging sign for those who have spent years waiting on Carti’s third studio album. The rapper has been teasing the release of the tentatively titled MUSIC since 2021. There have been dozens of snippets and teaser singles, including the aforementioned “BACKR00MS” with Scott.

Cardo, a frequent Carti collaborator, confirmed that the album is coming soon. The producer claimed that he was putting the finishing touches on it after nearly four years of work. “Me and him have been working on this album for a good four years,” he said in July. “[I’m] gaining some kind of different kind of energy and inspiration from what he’s doing. Jim Jones Gives Drake His Flowers While Choosing The “Best Album Of The Year”

Jim Jones has declared For All The Dogs Scary Hours Edition his best album of the year. Jones gave his answer at last month’s ComplexCon. “That extendo clip that Drake just dropped got real spooky on n-ggas,” Jones explained. However, he also gave props to Too Good To Be True and Utopia. The six-song deluxe EP recently helped push the Drake product back to the top of the Billboard album charts. Despite the success of the album, last week only marked its second week at No. 1. It displaced Stray Kids’ ROCK-STAR, which tumbled to No. 7.

Furthermore, For All The Dogs has also reached platinum certification in recent weeks. However, the RIAA has yet to confirm this. For All The Dogs was able to hold off another resurgence from 1989 (Taylor’s Version), which spent another week at No. 2. Ironically, the first track of Drake’s EP shouts out Taylor Swift. “Taylor Swift the only n-gga that I ever rated. Only one could make me drop the album just a little later. Rest of y’all, I treat you like you never made it,” Drake raps on “Red Button”.

Jim Jones Goes After Dee-1

However, Jones doesn’t have love for everyone. In early November, Jones appeared to go after New Orleans rapper Dee-1. “I don’t care about what [Dee-1] said. That boy don’t know me. I know his trick. He using my name for fame. It’s all good … I do more in one month for people than he’ll ever do in his whole life. I really give back to the people, I don’t care about none of the rhetoric he talking about,” Jones said. His comments came after Dee had called him out.

Despite this, Dee-1 appeared unfazed. “Jim Jones, I love you; Meek Mill, I love you; Rick Ross, I love you. The world wants it to become something negative and unhealthy, but let’s make sure we use this as an opportunity to educate and to communicate… And if that means we can be friends at the end of this — cool. If we can’t ever be friends — cool, all good. Just go be a better man of God and I’ma try to be the best man of God I can be, and it’s gucci,” Dee-1 said in response.

Offset Was Reportedly Named In A Battery Lawsuit For A 2021 Incident With Security During ComplexCon

So far, 2023 belongs to “Say My Grace” rapper Offset. Throughout the year, he’s made a surprise appearance on Amazon Music Live, secured a McDonald’s signature meal collaboration alongside his wife, Cardi B, and dropped his highly anticipated sophomore album Set It Off. Unfortunately, he’s also endured some hardships: the ultimately passing of his former group mate, Takeoff, an intense legal battle with his former record label, and now there could be another court showdown.

According to Rolling Stone, Offset has reportedly been named in a lawsuit stemming from an incident with security during ComplexCon 2021. Paperwork obtained by the platform alleges that Offset (real name Kiari Kendrell Cephus), his musical associate YRN Murk (real name Demetrius Deandre Carter), and one unnamed individual assaulted an attendee during the event (held on November 7, 2021).

The plaintiff, Daveon Clark, alleged that Carter initiated the melee after event staff purportedly deterred Carter from entering a roped-off space due to capacity limitation. Clark went on to say that he was forced to engage in a physical exchange out of self-defense, which Cephus allegedly joined in. Attendees captured video of the alleged incident.

In the filing, it notes, “During this altercation, CSC security guards failed to prevent the attack and instead exacerbated plaintiff’s position by restraining him, allowing defendants Offset and YRN Murk to continue their physical attacks while plaintiff was prevented from protecting himself,”

Clark is seeking real and punitive damages due to the physical and emotional damages the alleged incident caused.
