Recently, Sabrina Carpenter narrowly defeated Travis Scott in an intense first-week sales battle. Her sixth studio album Short n’ Sweet outsold his Days Before Rodeo re-release by a mere 1,000 units, leaving his fans outraged. Some of them even speculated that Billboard was behind the “robbery” in some way, though of course, this is unconfirmed.
Carpenter and Scott’s race to top the Billboard 200 chart mimics one fans saw all the way back in 2018. At the time, however, he was competing with Nicki Minaj. Ultimately, Astroworld beat her album Queen, which she promptly went off about on Queen Radio. She slammed Scott for using bundles to boost his sales, arguing that she deserved to be No. 1. “What we’re not gonna do is have that Auto-Tune man selling f*cking sweaters,” she explained at the time. “Telling you he sold half a million albums, because he f*cking didn’t.”
Sabrina Carpenter Thanks Nicki Minaj For Thoughtful Gift
This time around, Nicki made it clear who she was backing in this race. For obvious reasons, it was the “Espresso” singer. Carpenter even took to Twitter/X to show love to Nicki and her Barbz, writing, “This is for Nicki.” The rapper returned the favor, hopping on Instagram Live to urge her fans to support Carpenter’s new album. “Shout out Sabrina Carpenter, shout out all the Sabrina Carpenter fans,” she said.
It appears as though Nicki’s support has extended beyond the initial race, however. Earlier today, Carpenter hopped on her Instagram Story to flaunt a white bouquet sent to her by Nicki herself. “I adore u + the barbz :’) this is so thoughtful!!!! and these are so beautiful,” she captioned the photo. What do you think of Nicki Minaj sending Sabrina Carpenter flowers after her album Short n’ Sweet topped Travis Scott’s Days Before Rodeo? Do you see a collab in their future? After a highly successful Summer Olympic Games in Paris, they passed the flag over to Los Angeles. The City of Angels is hosting the event in 2028, and it will certainly be a star-studded affair. Long Beach native Snoop Dogg, who served as a correspondent during the last two Games, will be unlikely to miss such a homecoming opportunity. The same goes for his partner-in-crime, Dr. Dre. Dre and Snoop performed at a special event on Venice Beach to celebrate the handoff. Now, Dre confirms that he will be in Los Angeles in four years. It is reasonable to assume that he will perform at the opening ceremony. However, he surprised fans when he told Nischelle Turner of Entertainment Tonight that he plans to try out for Olympic competition.
In the interview, Dre announced that he plans to try out for the 2028 Olympics. When Turner asked what sport he was interested in, he gave a surprising answer. “Archery,” he said. “I’m deadass serious.” Dre admitted that he’s been an avid archer for much of his life. He revealed to Turner that he had been on his junior high school’s archery team. He took a break from the sport when his music career blossomed into what it is today, but picked it back up when his son bought him equipment for Father’s Day.
“I have it set up in my backyard and I heard qualifying for the Olympics is 77 feet. I practice at 90,” Dre added. If he qualifies for the 2028 Summer Olympics, he would be among the oldest athletes to ever compete. He would be 63 years old in Los Angeles. The oldest athlete to compete at the 2024 Paris Games was Juan Antonio Jiménez Cobo, a Spanish equestrian.
Aside from his Olympic dreams, Dre has enjoyed a strong year. He and Snoop Dogg are working on Missionary, the long-awaited sequel to Snoop’s legendary debut album Doggystyle. He made a cameo at Kendrick Lamar’s The Pop Out concert, playing “California Love” before introducing “Not Like Us,” which Lamar played five times. Dre is aiming high for the Los Angeles Olympic Games, and being able to compete in front of his hometown would be an unforgettable honor.
Royce Da 5’9″ says J. Cole is the “only competitive” artist in the current landscape of hip-hop. Appearing on Joe Budden’s podcast, Royce reflected on how the genre has changed over the years with his Slaughterhouse partner. They also discussed where Cole ranks in comparison to Drake and Kendrick Lamar.
“I haven’t taken a real deep look out into the landscape but from where I’m sitting it looks like J. Cole the only one being competitive,” he began “He’s the only one who’s rapping with the kind of conviction that says I still value the number one spot as a lyricist. I see a lot of the younger generations not really hanging their hat on just the lyrical part of creativity at all. They’re finding different ways to impact and resonate with people which is fine.”
J. Cole Performs With Drake During Dreamville Festival
“That’s when the elder statesmen like myself start learning,” he continued. “I wanna make myself understand why is this touching people like that. I can’t even understand what they’re saying. It’s definitely moving away from lyricism being the caveat, which I’m cool with ’cause there’s a lot more things I can do without being lyrical-lyrical.” Budden mostly agreed, listing Cole above Kendrick Lamar. “I got Cole as my one,” Budden said. “I’m hoping that Kendrick’s next album could try to fix that for me. Drake is doing his Chuck E. Cheese sh*t. Good for him. That’s it now. Yeah, that’s it.” Check out Royce’s full comments on the podcast below.
Royce Da 5’9″ Speaks With Joe Budden
The two also discussed their expectations for Cole’s upcoming album, The Fall Off. That project will be a follow-up to his 2018 effort, KOD. Be on the lookout for further updates on Royce Da 5’9″ on HotNewHipHop.
No one can stop talking about USHER right now. But it is for good reason. The legendary R&B superstar has had a lot of important and exciting things going on in his life. If you were one of the few people who were not watching the Super Bowl this past weekend, he was the Halftime Show performer. To help celebrate that, he dropped his new album COMING HOME. Because of everything going on with him, everyone is reaching out for interviews. People got a hold of him and they talked about all the events in his life and one other unique topic. USHER was asked about Justin Timberlake and his willingness to work with him on new music.
It kind of makes sense why this question came up. Timberlake is an icon in his own right and was step for step with USHER in the early 2000s. Both had massive hits and even though they were/are fairly close no music has come out of their friendship. But, many painted them as rivals and USHER was asked about that. He shut that down according to AllHipHop, saying, “I’m in competition with no one other than myself… I’ve been motivated by people like Justin. I think that he has a legacy that should be respected and not compared to anybody else.”
In fact, USHER doubled down by saying he has always wanted to work with JT. “I’ve always wanted to do a record with Justin and have reached out many times, but we’ve never managed to make it happen. I think that he’s an amazing performer.” Maybe that window of opportunity is open right now. Justin does have his new album, Everything I Thought It Was, on March 15, so maybe they can eek out a collab before it drops.
What are your thoughts on USHER revealing he always wanted to work with Justin Timberlake? Do you think they can make something happen in time for Justin’s upcoming album? Is this a good idea for them to collaborate? What are your opinions on USHER’s Super Bowl show? We would like to hear what you have to say, so be sure to leave your takes in the comments section. Additionally, always keep it locked in with HNHH for all of the latest news la surrounding USHER and Justin Timberlake. Finally, stay with us for everything else going on around the world of music.
Things may never be sorted out between NBA YoungBoy and Lil Durk. The reasons are valid, though, especially because of the tragedy of losing King Von. Their opposing fanbases are certainly not letting up on each other either. It seems every time Lil Durk and NBA YoungBoy drop new music, their material is always up for debate and comparison. More of that will be going doing this Friday, February 16, as both dropping new tracks. The Chicago native posted an Instagram Story announcing the heat he has coming.
DJ Akademiks reshared the Story on his account. Durk captioned the post, “I’m dropping some for the streets Friday F%CK it.” As we mentioned YB is doing the same thing, expanding his 2024 catalog to five. His single has a title and it is called “Closed Case.” The Louisiana rapper made this known nearly a week ago with the lyrics for it already being on Genius.
Durk does not have a title for his song yet at the moment of writing this post. Fans immediately went into DJ Akademiks’ comments section comparing GRAMMY Awards and the like. One person says, “Durk Grammys: 1 YB Grammys: 0 the debate is over.” A NBA fan flies into to support him and says, “this is the dumbest s*** ever since when does a grammy determine who’s better ” Another even goes as far as to say this, “Durk: ‘imma drop some for the streets’ The streets: ‘We don’t want that s***t’ ” Only time will tell who does better this coming weekend.
What are your thoughts on Lil Durk and NBA YoungBoy both dropping music on the same day? Who is going to get more streams and why? Who do you think is the better rapper is and why? Cole has also worked with Lil Yachty on the jazz and boom bap-inspired cut “The Secret Recipe.” The Atlanta rapper did his best to match his counterpart and succeeded.
Now, there is another rapper who feels he has the same chance to match him. Houston rapper, Sauce Walka, recently tweeted out that he wants to go bar for bar with the lyrical wizard. A lot of fans in the comments really feel he can and we do too. He has plenty of quality tracks in his seven-year-long discography. sauce tweeted, “I said what I said… ILL GO BAR 4 BAR WIT ANY GOAT @JColeNC let’s dance. I’m what the STREETS MISSING.” One person commented, “No cap he really can. Very interesting.” Another adds, “Sauce can rap, he ain’t saying he’s better he’s saying he can go bar 4 bar … I think he can ” It is always fun to see some friendly competition. Hopefully, this does happen.

G Herbo recently took part in a dating competition hosted by No Luv Mar, but unfortunately, it doesn’t look like he was able to find his special someone. The rapper chatted with various women in hopes of recruiting a partner, but ultimately decided that none of them were a match. It seems as though he learned the lesson that yelling at potential mates doesn’t typically pan out.
During the contest, one of the women approached him, asking the simple question of where he’s from. The Chicago native got pretty offended that she didn’t already know, popping off on her as a result. “You ain’t look up nothing?” he asked. “Bye! How the f*ck you don’t know where I’m from and you talking to me… Get the f*ck on, bye!”
It looks like the rapper met his match, but not quite the kind he was looking for. The woman didn’t take kindly to his rant, firing back with a handful of quips and making it clear that she wouldn’t be tolerating his disrespect. “You could get the f*ck on!” she responded. “How the hell am I supposed to know where the f*ck you from? Don’t nobody know about you. Ain’t nobody looking sh*t up. Fuck you, n***a. Light-skin a**. You look like Latto with your light-skin a**. Why your hairline so far back?”
Luckily for G Herbo, he may be closer than every to finding the one, as he’s recently undergone quite the makeover. The 28-year-old just secured his “million dollar smile,” stopping by the dentist to get some new veneers. Unfortunately, he’ll soon have to report to prison to serve his five-year sentence for wire fraud, which could make it tough to meet any ladies. What do you think of G Herbo’s flirting fail? Do you think he deserved the roast he got, or did the woman take things too far? Share your thoughts in the comments section down below, and keep an eye on HNHH for more news.
