Lil Zay Osama has gone through a lot of big changes this year, and it looks like they have him feeling nostalgic. Back in May, the Chicago-born rapper pleaded guilty to possessing a machine gun in his federal case. The case had been in limbo since 2022 and stemmed from a firearm forgotten in an Uber. At the time, it was reported that he could be spending some serious time behind bars, though he appears to be at home for the time being.

Now, he’s preparing to unleash a new project, Streets Calling My Name. Last week, he teamed up with fellow artist Polo G, looking back on his upbringing on “How I Grew Up.” It showcases a more vulnerable side of the rapper, who goes over both the good and bad of his childhood, and revels in just how far he’s come. It serves as a solid preview of what else is on the way with the full album. Streets Calling My Name does not yet have an official release date at the time of writing, though it’s expected to arrive sometime this year.

As talk of what Drake will do next continues, it looks like he’s dropping hints, his latest arriving via his Instagram Story. Last night, he shared a photo of someone’s silhouette, though their identity has not yet been revealed. The next post shows someone wearing a Pokémon t-shirt and rocking two OVO owl chains. This seems to suggest that the Toronto rapper has a new collaboration on the way. This is unconfirmed, but Instagram users in Akademiks’ comments section are out in full force with theories.

“I’m going with sauce walka,” one fan writes. “Is that camo,” another wonders. Of course, it remains to be seen exactly what Drizzy has coming up. The fact that he posted this on his main Instagram account instead of his burner has commenters convinced that it must mean something.

With all of that being said, fans already know that Drake is gearing up to release his collaborative album with PartyNextDoor. It’s expected to arrive this fall, though an official release date has not yet been announced. During an appearance on The Breakfast Club earlier this month, Sauce Walka also called Drake out for not collaborating with more artists from Houston. It’s possible that he heard that and decided to team up with him, though again, this is unconfirmed.

For now, it looks like fans will just have to wait and see what Drake has planned. Fans commended him peeling back his layers a bit as they responded positively to the single. So much so, that the track is currently his most popular on his Spotify with over 6.1 million streams. Additionally, it’s seen a lot of success on other platforms such as TikTok. It’s been used over 500,000 posts. Furthermore, it’s done well on YouTube, amassing over 13.8 million views between the music video and audio uploads. Because of this, it’s sitting at number 74 on the Billboard Hot 100. Excuse us for gushing, but we have to give the Freebandz signee his flowers. However, let’s focus in on Real Boston Richey’s latest effort “Get In There”.

It appears he’s on his way to having another viral record with this one. That’s thanks to his blunt and aggressive bars, the memorable claps on the instrumental, and a vulgar GloRilla feature. Speaking of the Memphis star, you could view this as her returning the favor. Real Boston Richey lent his talents to a track off her recent Ehhthang Ehhthang mixtape. This weekend Kanye West and Ty Dolla Sign unleashed their new album Vultures 2, which has since managed to spark some controversy. While many are enjoying the project so far, others are unimpressed. Many raised issues with the mixing in particular. Luckily, Ye promised updated versions of the tracks, which he delivered several of this week.

Now, the duo has unveiled a new visual for their track “Fried.” As expected, it’s also earned mixed reactions from viewers. It features a pack of masked individuals running through seemingly endless hallways, with no clear goal in sight. While some think it’s interesting and pairs well with the song, others think it left a lot to be desired.

“Ye what am I watching,” one YouTube commenter wonders. “The visuals got my brain fried,” another jokes. Of course, it’s still up for debate whether or not this is a worthy visual, and the same can be said for the rest of the project. Despite some ongoing criticism, however, the duo are expected to have a successful first week in terms of first-week sales. According to Chart Data, Vultures 2 is on track to move 68K units in its first week. While this is certainly no small feat, it would be only the third time in Ye’s career he hasn’t topped the Billboard 200 chart the week of a release.

The other two times this has happened were in 2008 when he dropped his debut The College Dropout, and in 2018 when he unveiled Kids See Ghosts with Kid Cudi. Kendrick Lamar has been making plenty of headlines in recent months for his viral lyrical battle with Drake. He went viral for a far more surprising reason today, however, as one of his scrapped verses recently surfaced. The verse in question was for Frank Ocean’s “Nights,” and is now making its rounds online.

As expected, the verse is pretty raw and seems to showcase Kendrick experimenting to find a direction before recording a final cut. It’s earned mixed reactions from social media users so far, who are sounding off on X. While some think Kendrick really cooked with this one, and are disappointed that it was left off the record, others are relieved it was.

Kendrick Lamar’s “Nights” Verse Surfaces Online

“I fw Kendrick but sometimes this n***a does bullsh*t on instrumentals and make weird a** voices and people swear it’s experimental,” one user writes, “Sh*t sounds horrible.” Another simply says, “No way people are calling this bad.” Obviously, whether or not Kendrick’s verse would have been a good addition to the iconic track is still up for debate.

It remains unclear exactly why the version of “Nights” featuring Kendrick was never formally released. Of course, it’s possible that Ocean simply felt like he had a hit without it, or that the verse didn’t fit in with the rest of Blonde. Either way, supporters are glad to finally get to hear it, if only to know what could have been.

Earlier this week, Mike WiLL Made-It unleashed his new track alongside Lil Wayne and Lil Yachty, “High3r.” Already, the song has received a ton of praise from fans, who have taken a liking to Wayne’s verse in particular. In it, he namedrops both Kanye West and Kim Kardashian to make an apparent drug reference. “My plug contact is Kim K/ I call him when I need Ye,” he rhymes.

Social media users are commending Weezy for his creativity here, and looking back on his and Ye’s history. Lil Wayne has always had good things to say about the Yeezy founder, even after he sparked controversy with antisemitic remarks. During an appearance on the All the Smoke podcast last year, for example, he claimed that Ye’s musical talent means that he’ll find success no matter what.

Fans Praise Lil Wayne For New Verse

“He’s a genius… What I mean by that is he can stop being Kanye West at any time and start being Kanye East and be the best at that as well,” he explained at the time. “He’s a genius when it comes to music. Gwen Stefani and Anderson .Paak received a high honor from the International Olympic Committee and Coca-Cola. Both major corporations tasked these two musical superstars with creating a theme song for this year’s Games and the one’s to come after them. Also in the mix is singer, songwriter, and producer, Ryan Tedder. He has been behind his fair share of mega radio hits throughout his career, so his selection was a no-brainer. Together, Gwen Stefani, .Paak, and Tedder have come up with “Hello World – Song of The Olympics”. According to Billboard, Josh Burke, the global head of music and culture marketing at the Coca-Cola Company, explained why Tedder is a part of this record and the idea that came to be.

“We wanted a song with broad appeal that would resonate worldwide, an uplifting and bright song that would inspire everyday greatness among athletes and music fans. It was also important to us that we wouldn’t try to create a ‘brand’ song or ‘jingle’, and we’d have to give up some control, which is very difficult to do!”. Tedder was totally game for the collaboration, saying “The Games are an important way for all of us to come together and celebrate each other globally, and we wrote this song with that in mind. I grew up watching every Olympics since childhood, so this is a lifelong dream. I hope this song inspires and uplifts”.

Drake Demands Gordo To Give Him His Proper Credit

Over the weekend, Drake and producer Gordo (formerly Carnage), teamed up on multiple occasions for the latter’s debut album under his new name, DIAMANTE. You can hear them together on the closer, “Healing”, as well as track two, “Sideways”. Both see Drizzy crossover into the dance genre, something that he has done a few times throughout his career. Each of them are very groovy and danceable cuts for the late summer nights. Fairly predictably, their collaborations are amongst the most streamed on the record so far. Yes, despite Drake being the jester of the rap world at the moment, he is still drawing plenty of ears to anything he’s attached to.

“Healing” and “Sideways” are the first collaborations between the two, and we can only imagine that him and Gordo would team up again down the road. Or, will they? Just a few hours ago, Drake took to his Instagram Story to share something pretty shocking. According to the rapper, he had a third “collaboration” with the American-Nicaraguan beat maker. “Cafecito”, currently the most played song on DIAMANTE, should have Drake’s name under the production credits.

Drake Claims “It’s All Good” With Gordo

If you check out the Genius page for the record, his name is in fact nowhere to be found. So, Drake decided to call out Gordo saying, “I made this beat with you but it’s all good… @gordoszn”. This is classic passive-aggressive behavior from the Canadian superstar, something that he displays on social media whenever he’s feeling some type of way. If this is true, that is pretty surprising, considering the aforementioned songs they have together on the record. Gordo has yet to respond, and it will be interesting to see what comes of this.

The duo appeared to be deep in conversation in one of the clips, though it remains unclear exactly what they were chatting about.

In the fun video, the two of them are seen spitting bars while New York City is consumed by flames. Ice Spice even paid homage to her hometown by dressing up as the Statue of Liberty. It looks like she might have something else in the works too, as during a recent interview with Capital XTRA Breakfast, she shared that she has some risky post-Y2K plans.

“I kind of want to do something that is kind of crazy, but I don’t want to say what it is yet. I feel like people are going to have so many things to say, but if I do it, you guys will not miss it,” she said. “That’s all I can really say. But let’s see, let’s see, though.
