DJ Khaled has proven himself to be a jack of trades at this point in his life. Overall, he started off as a DJ who then built enough contacts to be friends with everyone. For years, he has been releasing anthems and dropping albums with some of the biggest artists in hip-hop. Later this year, he will be coming out with a new project, and fans are excited to hear what he has in store. After all, this new body of work is supposed to come with two tracks that have Drake on them. We also imagine artists like Lil Baby, Quavo, Travis Scott, and perhaps even Lil Wayne will make appearances.

Recently, we reported on how DJ Khaled teamed up with Gatorade for a new capsule. Well, in addition to Gatorade, he has also teamed up with Tommy Hilfiger. They have new golf apparel which contains the iconic Hilfiger aesthetic and colors but with We The Best branding. Khaled is very excited about this collaboration, as he should be. In fact, he was so excited, that he went and found Travis Scott so that he could show him.

Jay-Z Unveils New Moncler x Roc Nation Collab Line

Jay-Z is once again reaching into the world of fashion. He’s spent decades being tangentially involved in fashion alongside his imprints in music, sports, and entertainment at large. But one of the most direct moves he’s ever made was just announced today. They revealed a team-up between Roc Nation and Moncler called Moncler Genius. The website clarifies that the collaboration “symbolizes creativity without limits, pooling experience and ambition from shared yet vastly varied points of interest, for a collection that epitomizes the sentiment that genius is everywhere.”

The new line is available on Moncler’s website. It features a number of shirts, vests, hoodies, and jackets. Additionally, there’s a trio of hats included in the new drop. Moncler Genius is available now though fans who want to get their hands on one of the pieces better hurry. Subsequently particular sizes and even entire pieces are already selling out. For fans who want to check out one of the pieces from Moncler Genius in action, Big Sean has you covered. One time Jay-Z collaborator Big Sean was sporting one of the puffy jackets from the collection. He was courtside at the Clippers and Lakers game earlier this week donning the piece before it was even made publicly available. Once the announcement of Moncler Genius was made, eagle-eyed fans took notice of Sean’s jacket in pictures from the night.

Ja Rule & Hitmaka Join Forces For Studio Session

Ja Rule and Hitmaka recently linked up for a studio session, which means there could be some new heat coming from them in the near future. Unfortunately, the clip doesn’t have any sound, so we don’t really know for sure what style or approach they vibed to in the booth. However, we do know that the producer is very versatile and amassed a lot of hits (it’s in the name, folks…), so we’re sure that there could be some great chemistry with the New York rapper. In fact, considering that Ja has another album on the way, hopefully this ends up being one of many beatsmith links that he partook in for its creation.

Furthermore, Hitmaka’s still keeping busy with his career, even if some potential beef with King Harris, T.I., and Tiny might get in the way of a possible collab. Regardless, we can only guess as to what this new work with Ja Rule could sound like, especially considering their storied artistry. Will they tackle flashy, old-school 2000s beats to evoke the previous era or will we see the MC ride more contemporary production? Either way, these career revitalizations are always a treat to see in hip-hop, even if the results can sometimes make this hype vanish. Fingers crossed for this one!

Of course, we know that Ja Rule is very confident in his skills and success, as he thinks no top 50 rappers list is complete without him. “I’m not a hater,” he said of Billboard and VIBE‘s top 50 MCs list, which left him off, during a recent appearance on The Tamron Hall Show. “Congrats to everyone on the list. [But] these lists, they’re meaningless because music is subjective. You like who you want to like, you know everybody has their favorite artist… But my thing was: this is a list comprised by Billboard. They do numbers and statistics, if I’m not mistaken. Okay so, that list is impossible to make without Ja Rule being on it -–statistically impossible.

“There are artists that don’t have number one records, don’t have number one albums,” the “Always On Time” spitter continued. “I’m not knocking anybody on the list because, like I said, music is subjective… And when it comes to some of the older artists, you kind of got to go by different metrics because they didn’t have the sales. Madlib & Karriem Riggins Form Jahari Massamba Unit For New Single “Massamba Afundance”: Stream

Two legendary producers in the fields of hip-hop and jazz are about to bring us another album’s worth of their electric chemistry. Moreover, legendary multi-instrumentalist and hip-hop icon Madlib and astonishing drummer Karriem Riggins just dropped the single “Massamba Afundance” under their hip-hop/future jazz duo name, Jahari Massamba Unit. This is a three-minute instrumental show-stopper with relentless percussion, gorgeous key embellishments, and an intoxicating live atmosphere thanks to distant crowd noise additions. They previously released “Stomping Gamay,” another promotional single for their upcoming album, YHWH Is Love, scheduled to land on March 1.

Furthermore, this is by no means Karriem Riggins’ first experience with forming hip-hop-inclusive supergroups. For example, all the way back in 2018, he teamed up with Common, Robert Glasper, and Brandy for “Optimistic,” and worked with plenty of rap artists before and after that. Fans might remember his contributions to Denzel Curry’s excellent 2022 studio album, Melt My Eyez See Your Future, as one of his most recent and high-profile offerings. As for Madlib… well, you know his name is synonymous with both the best beats you’ll ever hear and exciting jazz experimentation. Seeing him fully embrace this for a full project’s never been dull in the past, and through Jahari Massamba Unit, he’s poised to excel once again.

However, what excites us the most about “Massamba Afundance” in particular is its strong live feel. Whether it’s the deep and echoing percussion hits, the added chimes, or the key-playing’s improvisational nature, this is an entrancing rhythm to fall into for its short runtime. It’s also very curious because Madlib usually occupies a pretty liminal space between crisp production and lo-fi soundscapes, so hearing a rougher but more lively mix is never a bad thing. He’s also keeping rap fans excited and on edge by teasing new collaborations with the likes of Freddie Gibbs and Mac Miller. All we can ask for is that we see how these two worlds fuse even more in 2024, because it’s all been amazing.

Of course, the two previously worked together about 15 years ago, but Cudi had tweeted last year how he wanted to do a full album with the legendary producer. Uncle Al responded with enthusiasm, and it looks like those wishes are coming to fruition. Moreover, fans can’t wait to hear what the two could craft together, even if they don’t make a full project. What’s more is that this excitement ramped up thanks to the Cleveland creative walking back his retirement announcement from last year.

Furthermore, Kid Cudi expressed as such during an interview with Zane Lowe discussing his new album INSANO, his creative path, and so much more. “I was kind of out of it,” he remarked concerning his commitment to hanging it up. “I was just in this place where I was thinking about my future. It had been a little over five years since the 41-year-old phenom’s last project Queen. It is safe to say that Nicki is making up for lost time by bringing extra material, but we are not complaining. Today marks the release of the Pink Friday 2 (Gag City PLUTO Edition).

It follows the Gag City Deluxe which added a 50 Cent version of “Beep Beep” and “Love Me Enough” featuring Monica and Keyshia Cole. PLUTO is a reference to Future’s nickname and he marks his second appearance with “Press Play.” It is the lone addition to this latest expanded edition and it is a straight banger. Wyclef Jean, Pusha T And More Partner With The TIAA On “Paper Right” Single

Pusha T, Lola Brooke, Capella Grey, Flau’jae, and Wyclef Jean have all come togehter for an interesting single. The TIAA (Teachers Insurance and Annuity Association of America) is looking to spread the word about preparing for a financially safe future. According to a piece from HipHopDX, they want to spread information about their “Retire Inequality” initiative. Information from their website is quite staggering.

“54% of Black Americans don’t have enough savings to retire.” The way the TIAA plans on doing this is by helping the younger generation learn how to start building wealth sooner rather than later. The reason for this methodology is that “41% of young adults between 24-35 aren’t taking full advantage of employer-sponsored plans.” So, to help pass this message along, the TIAA reached out Wyclef Jean to make song.

Jazmine Sullivan & Anderson Paak Crafted Magic On “Price Tags” Three Years Ago: Stream

Three years ago today (January 8), Jazmine Sullivan released her acclaimed and enduringly compelling album Heaux Tales. Moreover, it has a lot of smooth, emotive, soulful, and musically proficient highlights, plus some notable collaborations with the likes of H.E.R. and Ari Lennox. However, perhaps none rank greater than her link-up with the one and only Anderson .Paak on “Price Tags,” which is one of the more thematically consistent cuts on the record. On it, the 36-year-old talks about wealth, material success, sexual empowerment, and relationship dynamics. It’s a pretty versatile song when looking at these themes, but most importantly, it’s an infectiously groovy jam with a lot of lush instrumentation and catchy melodies.

Furthermore, Jairus “J-Mo” Mozee put together a pretty impressive production from behind the board, highlighting both featured artists’ talents. The crisp and simple drum beat is consistently nasty, and offers some funky and stark contrast from the traditionally lavish backing elements. These include an ear-worm, high-pitch key sample, vocal harmonies, light guitar strums, and cavernous bass. Jazmine Sullivan shines with a dynamic performance, and the “Stand Up” singer shows off her range from soaring cries to sultry temptations. NLE Choppa has had a more than promising start to his young rap career. Overall, he has already put out some great projects and he continues to release consistently. Although some may have been taken aback by his various changes in sound, he has found himself again. There have been some dope freestyles from the rapper as of late, and he continues to push himself. Sure, he may get into some beef with people like Blueface from time to time, but sometimes, that just comes with the territory.

Moving forward, it would appear as though NLE is interested in working with a different crop of artists than he is normally used to. We know this because he recently took to his Instagram story where he showed off some of the names he is currently working with. You may actually be surprised, although the title of this article did give it away. Yes, Destroy Lonely, Quavo, and NLE Choppa were all in the studio together recently. These are three artists with different styles, so we can only imagine what a collaboration would sound like.

In 2023, Quavo dropped Rocket Power which was a tribute album to Takeoff. Meanwhile, Destroy Lonely came out with the album If Looks Could Kill. Whether or not a collaboration from these two ends up coming out, still remains to be seen. Regardless, it is cool to see artists with various different styles getting together like this.
