Mo’Nique Insists Katt Williams Told The Truth On “Club Shay Shay”

Last month, Katt Williams took the internet by storm when he sat down with Shannon Sharpe for an interview on Club Shay Shay. Williams went in on several of his celebrity peers, throwing jabs at the likes of Kevin Hart, Cedric The Entertainer, Rickey Smiley, and more. The interview earned Williams quite a bit of backlash, but some argue that the comedian was simply being honest. Mo’Nique appears to agree with this, recently coming to Williams’ defense during her own appearance on Club Shay Shay.

Since they announced the interview on social media last week, fans have been anxiously waiting to hear what the performer has to say. Mo’Nique is known to be upfront with her beliefs, which many expected would make for a similarly explosive interview. She doesn’t seem to have disappointed, recently co-signing seemingly everything Williams said in his interview.

Mo’Nique On Katt Williams’ Interview

“Everything Katt Williams sat here and said,” she begins in a clip from the interview. “We all know it to be the truth. However, we get so caught up in, ‘Well, I ain’t gonna say nothing. Can you believe he said it?‘ […] It’s the messenger, baby. We get so caught up in the messenger that we’ll overlook the message. People have a hard time hearing a 5’5″ giant tell the truth, people have a hard time with a Black woman over 200 pounds tell the truth. People that look like us, we should just be grateful we got invited to the party.”

Mo’Nique continued, also explaining how she’s dealt with discrimination throughout her entire life, and encouraging others to not feel too intimidated to speak their truth. According to her, as long as one is honest with their story, it can help to prevent bad things from happening to others in the future. What do you think of Mo’Nique’s claims about Katt Williams’ infamous Club Shay Shay appearance? Do you agree with her? What about her own interview with Shannon Sharpe? Shannon Sharpe Shades Nicki Minaj On Twitter: “Who?”

Shannon Sharpe appeared to throw shade at Nicki Minaj on Twitter, earlier this week, when a user suggested he sit down with her for an interview on his Club Shay Shay podcast. In doing so, he pretended not to know the iconic rapper.

“@ShannonSharpe Nicki said a few days ago on Stationhead she wanted to be on your podcast!! I really want to hear you talk to her about everything going on in the media and especially after her snub tonight!” the social media user wrote. Sharpe replied: “Nicki who?”

His comments on Nicki Minaj come as the rapper has been feuding with Megan Thee Stallion. Drama kicked off between the two when Megan appeared to shade Minaj’s husband, Kenneth Petty, on the song, “Hiss.” She made a reference to him being a registered sex offender. In response, Minaj went on several rants on social media and dropped the track, “Big Foot.” With her song, Minaj referenced Megan’s late mother. Check out Sharpe’s diss toward Minaj below.

Shannon Sharpe Shades Nicki Minaj

It’s not the first time Sharpe has upset a major musician’s fanbase in recent weeks. He previously caught the ire of the Beyhive for his take on Taylor Swift generating $300 million in revenue for the Kansas City Chiefs. While speaking with Chad Ochocinco, he admitted that Swift would be a bigger get for the NFL’s Super Bowl Halftime Show than Beyonce. “Not like this. Beyoncé ain’t moving the needle like this chick,” he said. “The NFL can have anybody do halftime, I guarantee Taylor Swift is first.” Be on the lookout for further updates on Shannon Sharpe on HotNewHipHop.

She used to be in a group by the name of The Dolls. I don’t know if I could consider myself their babysitter, but I had a time where I had to watch The Dolls.” Though he didn’t elaborate on the story at the time it clearly stuck in fan’s heads.

21 Savage Discusses Whether He Would Ever Sell His Entire Catalog

One phenomenon that has become increasingly common in music is artists selling their entire catalog’s for massive paydays. For a while it was older artists who were largely done recording music that sold their catalogs to companies who could license their songs out. But recently even some very active artists have taken that route. Most notably, Future sold almost his entire commercial music catalog last year for tens of millions of dollars. It’s a move that many other artists had thoughts about, most recently 21 Savage.

During an appearance on Shannon Sharpe’s Club Shay Shay podcast, Savage was asked if he would ever consider selling his catalog. To the surprise of some fans, he said yes without much hesitation. While he was sure about being open to the idea, he wasn’t committing to it. He discusses how his discography is relatively scant compared to some other artists and concludes that his decision to sell his catalog would depend on how much was offered and when it came. Check out his full answer to the question below.

21 Savage Open To Selling His Catalog

The catalog comments are just one of many points in Savage’s new interview that is drawing interest from fans. He also sparked some debates online for comments about parents. He claimed that having broke parents was better than having rich parents. While many online understood where he was coming from, not everybody agreed with his sentiment.

He also told a detailed account of being shot on his 21st birthday. He took fans through his emotions throughout the entire saga and gave explicit details about the shooting itself and the medical treatment that followed. It was a surprisingly harrowing story that spread quickly online as fans unpacked the sheer detail and vulnerability of it all. Savage’s interview is a far cry from that of Katt Williams, who went viral earlier this year after delivering some truly wild stories on Club Shay Shay. What do you think of 21 Savage being open to potentially selling his music in the future? Let us know in the comment section below.

Metro Boomin Wasn’t About To Let 21 Savage Get Away With Stolen Spelling Bee Valor In A New Interview

Shannon Sharpe’s podcast Club Shay Shay is quickly becoming a go-to for hot takes and outrageous breakouts in the wake of its incendiary Katt Williams interview a few weeks ago. However, unlike Katt, Shay’s latest guest, 21 Savage, faced at least one challenge to one of his dubious claims from the peanut gallery. In fact, his own frequent collaborator, Metro Boomin, was the one to call him out, joking that “n****s sit on his couch and just feel like they can say anything. Look at this n**** just looking for a lie to tell.”

Fortunately for Savage and Metro’s continued working relationship, his “lie” appeared to be from the “little white” variety, as 21 boasted he won a spelling bee in fifth grade thanks to the word “supercalifragilisticexpialidocious.” Metro extended his roast with a caption reading, “You probably read 3000 books a year too huh @21savage.” 21 has admitted that his often violent lyrical narratives are exaggerations for literary effect, but it looks like Metro won’t let spelling be stolen valor fly.

Of course, lots of rappers might start changing their tunes to promote academic accomplishments over street crime drama soon enough, with various courts using rap lyrics as evidence to support prosecutions. Savage, who just wrapped up his own long battle with the law, is probably not too keen on starting anymore at this point. And with Jay-Z recently also bragging about his academic achievements, this could be one trend in hip-hop that we’d all like to see continue.

21 Savage Reveals How Drake Friendship Gets Him A Lot Of Flack

21 Savage is riding high after the release of his new album american dream. The project became an instant smash rising to the top of the Billboard 200 in its very first week. The album isn’t going anywhere either as it’s projected to spend a second week at the very top spot. It also debuted two songs in the top 10 of the Hot 100, “redrum” and “nee-nah” with Travis Scott and Metro Boomin. “redrum” landed in the top 5 and is expected to remain in the top 10 in its second week.

In a sort of victory lap for the new album, Savage appeared on Shannon Sharpe’s show Club Shay Shay. The show was already a point of controversy earlier this year when Katt Williams appeared. He used it as a platform to deliver some truly unhinged stories that quickly went viral. By comparison, 21 is much more focused but that doesn’t mean he didn’t make some viral waves of his own. Most recently fans are discussing his comments about being friends with Drake. When Sharpe tries to bring up the fact that people don’t like the For All The Dogs rapper for inexplicable reasons, Savage defends him. “I don’t know. I f*ck with Drake though. Drake’s my boy,” he responds. Check out the clip from the interview below.

21 Savage Sticks Up For Drake

Elsewhere in the interview Savage makes other attention grabbing comments. One in particular that had fans debating is a comment about parents. He claims that having broke parents is better than having rich ones. While it’s easy to understand what he’s saying fans online debated the claim for days following the release of the interview.

He also told a particularly harrowing version of his story of getting shot on his 21st birthday. He didn’t spare any details letting fans know how he acted and felt in the moment and during the aftermath of the shooting. What do you think of 21 Savage standing up for Drake against his haters? Let us know in the comment section below.

Metro Boomin Hilariously Compares 21 Savage To Katt Williams After Revealing His Academic Prowess

Metro Boomin and 21 Savage are the best of friends, and they have been for close to a decade now. It has been eight years since the release of their collaborative album Savage Mode. Overall, this is the tape that introduced a lot of us to 21’s music. Furthermore, over the years, they have been able to keep up their friendship with a plethora of big releases. 21 is coming off of the release of American Dream, an album in which Metro added some production to. In fact, the album is set to go number one for a second straight week.

Yesterday, 21 Savage appeared on Shannon Sharpe’s show Club Shay Shay. The platform has grown considerably as of late with massive celebrities showing up. For instance, Shannon recently had Katt Williams on the show. This turned out to be extremely viral, and the interview is still racking up views. As for 21, he had a big appearance that gave us some gems. At one point in the interview, the artist claimed that he was a spelling whizz and a math whizz as a kid. Subsequently, Metro decided to react with a bit of skepticism.

Metro Boomin Is Not Buying It

In the video above, Metro can be heard laughing as 21 explains his spelling prowess. The super producer claims that it is “cap” and that it cannot be true. Metro even got into his comedian bag with the caption which reads, “you probably read 3000 books a year too huh.” Of course, this is a callback to the infamous words of Katt Williams. Williams told Sharpe he read 3000 books per year as a child, which led to a whole lot of suspicion as that averages out to 9 books per day. Either way, Metro felt funny and it all came at his friend’s expense.

Let us know what you thought of 21 and his interview with Shannon Sharpe, in the comments section below. Do you want a Savage Mode 3? Dave Chappelle Slams Katt Williams For Only Dissing Black Comics

Earlier this month, Katt Williams made major waves with his viral appearance on Shannon Sharpe’s Club Shay Shay podcast. He took aim at several of his peers, including Kevin Hart, Rickey Smiley, Cedric the Entertainer, Steve Harvey, and many more. In the days after the interview dropped, social media users heard plenty of responses from those he dissed. Now, another comedian who was spared is coming to their defense, Dave Chappelle.

During a recent stand-up set, Chappelle weighed in on the explosive interview. He noted that Williams mainly went after Black comedians, seeming disappointed. According to him, he’s a fan of Williams, but doesn’t understand why he decided to put his peers on blast.

Dave Chappelle Weighs In On Katt Williams’ Club Shay Shay Interview

“What part of the game is this? He ethered n***as. He didn’t say anything about any of these white boys. None of these white boys function like that,” Chappelle said. “Katt is one of the best painters in the game. So why are you drawing ugly pictures of us? Stop. Hurt people hurt people, but I am a hurt person that never hurt people, and he does it all the time.”

“I didn’t hear anything that you did wrong. He didn’t do nothin’ wrong? Katt didn’t do nothin’ wrong?… Katt was talking about s**t that n***as did to other n***as but not about anything that n***as did to him,” Chappelle added. “If I told my story, it would break your heart… I lost everything and never, ever told on anybody, and this n***a’s the arbiter of truth. Katt, listen, I f**k with Katt hard, but… DeRay, tell me, what part of the game f**ks up another n***a’s paper? Katt Williams “Club Shay Shay” Interview Spoofed On “Saturday Night Live”

Saturday Night Live took aim at Katt Williams’ Club Shay Shay interview in its latest episode. Ego Nwodim played Williams while Devin Walker played Shannon Sharpe. The skit was billed as the “eight-hour extended version” of the interview. “Three things are true about me. I am 5’3, I have never told a lie, and I am 6’3,” Nwodim’s Williams says. Furthermore, the skit featured several jokes about Williams’ comments about Kevin Hart. “Look, Hollywood made Kevin Hart. Everyone knows Kevin Hart was made in the same factory where they make Teddy Grahams. Why the hell he smell like cinnamon?” ranted Williams. Other targets of Nwodim’s Williams included Barak Obama and included Williams claiming he invented fruit.

Furthermore, Williams has continued to fuel his post-interview beefs. He dropped a freestyle aimed at Ludacris while appearing on Suge Knight’s Collect Call podcast. “I’m coming for your number one spot, one of us a killer and the other one is not/ One of us the realest and the other one a fraud/ You heard the interview on ‘Club Shay Shay,’ I gave ’em all a payday/ I’m still going f-cking viral so who care what the haters say/ Ludacris, you must be out your rabid a– mind/ You made a rap song but, n-gga, you ain’t say I’m f-cking lying,” Williams rapped. Furthermore, Williams implied that Ludacris had engaged in a sexual relationship with Quincy Jones.

Renee Rapp & Megan Thee Stallion Perform On Saturday Night Live

Meanwhile, Renee Rapp brought out Megan Thee Stallion as part of her Saturday Night Live musical spot. The pair performed their collab “Not My Fault”, which they recorded for the newly released Mean Girls remake. The film is not directly a remake of the 2004 film, but a blend of the original film and the wildly popular Broadway musical. Furthermore, Rapp also performed her track “Snow Angel”, from her album of the same name released last year.

Rapp also performed in a sketch during the episode, which aired January 20. The main host was Jakob Elodi, who is widely expected to earn an Oscar nod for his role as Elvis Presley in Priscilla. Rachel McAdams also appeared in the episode, announcing one of Rapp’s performances.
