DJ Envy and Cesar Pina have been named in a new lawsuit over their real estate business practices. In court documents obtained by AllHipHop, Envy, and Pina are being sued by Derik Deangelo, Chamblin Group Real Estate Ventures LLC, and Reispec Developments LLC.
The suit claims state the two men used their “Flipping New Jersey” seminars as “funnels to draw in victims” to their real estate scam. The lawsuit includes violations of the New Jersey Consumer Fraud Act, a breach of contract, a civil RICO violation, fraudulent transfer, and more. The plaintiffs are seeking a jury trial and request $2,000,000 in damages.
“During these private consultations and meet and greets, members of the Pina network attempted to ‘size up’ the financial resources of each attendee and solicited individuals with sufficiently high net worth to ‘partner’ with Pina, DJ Envy, and other members of the network in real estate ‘joint ventures,’” the docs read. “During these meetings, Pina also offered his personal ‘consulting services’ wherein he made himself available for one-on-one private meetings with guests at his office for flat rate fees ranging from $1,500 to $2,500 per meeting and more.”
Recently, DJ Envy’s cohost, Charlamagne Tha God, spoke with the Rap Radar podcast and revealed that he would keep the show going if Envy was no longer part of the crew.
“‘The Breakfast Club’ is bigger than any of us as individuals,” Charla said. “I’ve always felt like that.”
He added, “I’ve never felt like The Breakfast Club was just a show about three individuals. That’s always where my mind was.”

As the countdown to the event begins, anticipation builds for a day filled with impactful discussions, valuable insights, and the collective effort to drive positive change in the pursuit of justice and equality.
DJ Envy trended heavily throughout the fall due to his alleged role in a ponzi scheme. His cohost, Charlamagne Tha God, spoke with the Rap Radar podcast and revealed that if Envy was no longer part of the crew, he would keep the show going.
“‘The Breakfast Club’ is bigger than any of us as individuals,” Charla said. “I’ve always felt like that.”
He added, “I’ve never felt like The Breakfast Club was just a show about three individuals. That’s always where my mind was.”

Charlamagne Tha God says he’s wishing the best for Wendy Williams’ health, but that the two haven’t had a relationship for years. He spoke about his former radio partner with The U.S. Sun at the 5th Annual Pow(H)er Awards in New York City, earlier this month. The last time Williams was spotted in public was in N.Y.C. in February. At the time, she appeared frail amid ongoing health concerns.
Charlamagne told the outlet: “I just pray that she’s in good health, mentally, emotionally, spiritually, physically. I care about that more than I care about anything media-related. Even if we don’t have a relationship, you want to see people always going out with the plane landing with the wheels coming out. You don’t want to see people crash. At least I don’t.”
As for whether he’d ever want to interview her, he admitted he “never thought about it.” The Breakfast Club host added that they haven’t spoken for “years.” He said: “I’m not even thinking about stuff like that. You want to see a person like that, you know, you heard that she was having some type of health issues, and you want to see her get back on her feet. That’s what I care about.” Charlamagne worked on The Wendy Williams Experience from 2006 through 2008. He has said Wendy’s ex-husband, Kevin Hunter, fired him after a business deal gone wrong.
At the Pow(H)er Awards, Charlamagne was honored with the first-ever Power(H)im Award. The ceremony came as The Breakfast Club is searching for a new co-host to replace DJ Envy, who got roped up in Cesar Pina’s alleged real estate fraud scam. Be on the lookout for further updates on Charlamagne Tha God as well as Wendy Williams on HotNewHipHop.
Charlamagne tha God has spoken out on the future of The Breakfast Club as it continues without DJ Envy. The longtime co-host has been facing backlash after his former business partner Cesar Pina was arrested for allegedly using a ponzi real estate scheme to defraud investors. Charlamagne addressed the situation during an interview on Rap Radar podcast.
“I think The Breakfast Club is bigger than any of us as individuals. I’ve always felt like that. In my mind, what I’ve always wanted for The Breakfast Club was new talent constantly comes in and is a part of this, is under this umbrella of the club. So whether Angela Yee is there, or I’m there or Envy’s there, the platform can still continue,” he said. Yee had also hosted the show until December 2022, when she left to launch Way Up With Angela Yee.
The radio host added: “I’ve never felt like The Breakfast Club was just a show about three individuals. That’s always where my mind was, [and] you kind of see that. Like, if you plan to have the longevity you hope to have eventually things gotta change. I feel like regardless of what Envy’s situation is, I feel like, you know, I always felt like that was the plan. That should be the plan.” Check out his full comments on Rap Radar below.
Chalamagne Discusses How “The Breakfast Club” Will Evolve
Charlamagne’s contract to stay on The Breakfast Club runs through 2025. In 2022, he said he forsees himself staying in the role afterward, as noted by Revolt. Be on the lookout for further updates on the future of The Breakfast Club on HotNewHipHop.
Boosie Badazz says that Sexyy Redisn’t his “type” but had plenty of praise for the rapper regardless while speaking about her during a recent appearance on The Breakfast Club. Charlamagne introduced the topic by bringing up Sexyy Red’s recent comments on Boosie, in which she labeled herself the modern day version of him.
“Yeah, I saw that,” Boosie said. “I feel like she gave me my flowers, I feel like she really gave me my flowers because Sexyy Red from The Lou. I been there in The Lou since, I’m talking about 20 years. Like, the one people love and respect his ratchetness. They respect her ratchetness. I thought about it I was like, ‘she kinda right.’ Because people respect my ratchetness. You might not like it, but you respect it.”
From there, Boosie recalled meeting a girl at the mall who “looked just like Sexyy Red.” Boosie continued. ” That ain’t never been my type, bro. Them like my sisters. Girls like them who grew up with me in the projects. I never been turned on to them like that. They always been like my sisters. Now, late night when their ain’t nothing open but legs and the Waffle House, I’ll slide now. Yeah, I’ll slide.”
Boosie Badazz Discusses Sexyy Red
It’s not the first time Boosie has spoken about Sexyy Red. Appearing on VladTV back in September, he performed a “ratchet remix” of Sexyy’s hit song, “Pound Town.” He also previously discussed Sexyy Red labeling herself the “modern day Boosie” during a brief interview with TMZ at Los Angeles International Airport. “I feel like she giving me my flowers,” Boosie told the outlet, “I don’t get my flowers a lot and I’m a ratchet hood n***a who still getting money, who getting a bankroll. I ain’t take it no way but she showing me love. She on top of the game right now. We both from the trenches. People can relate to us.” Be on the lookout for further updates on Boosie on HotNewHipHop.
For more than a decade now, Drake and Charlamagne Tha God have made headlines with their long-standing beef. The pair’s volatile relationship became a part of pop culture as tensions rose. When things first went sour between the two in 2011, it’s unlikely that anybody expected it to last this long. However, their beef is now over 10 years strong, and they still don’t hesitate to throw verbal jabs at each other.
It should be mentioned though, that Charlamagne is often the one who kicks up dust. Following the release of Drake’s single with SZA “Slime You Out,” Charlamagne Tha God came at the rapper yet again. Soon after, Drake responded via Instagram stories. He accused Charlamagne of being obsessed, and calling the radio host an “off-brand Morris Chestnut.” So even if they were slowly getting back to being cordial, that’s definitely not the case anymore. With their feud dating all the way back to 2011, the question remains: what could make them squash the beef?
On an episode of The Breakfast Club in January 2011, Charlamagne Tha God called Drake some choice words. While discussing the rapper, Charlamagne called him “a pretty albino girl,” and a “princess boy.” The radio host also said Drake “displayed suspect behavior,” leading many to believe that he was taking shots at the rapper’s sexuality.
Subsequently, in an interview with Tim Westwood, Drizzy called out Charlamagne for his comments. “Why are you using your job to tear me down?” the rapper asked, “you’re just a real f***ing loser.” After the interview aired later that month, Charlamagne Tha God clapped back at Drake on another episode of The Breakfast Club. He said he never called Drake gay, but that “he does display suspect behavior.” Additionally, Charlamagne stated, “he acts like an emotional 12-year-old girl, and he proved it by going on Tim Westwood’s show talking like that.” Nothing was the same between the two after these indirect exchanges.
2013: Charlamagne Isn’t Feeling R&B Drake
Drake’s third album, Nothing Was The Same, was released on September 24, 2013. However, before it dropped, the rapper put out two singles, one of which was “Hold On, We’re Going Home.” Upon its release, the single became an instant hit. Charlamagne Tha God, however, was not very pleased with Drake’s pivot to R&B.
He had very strong opinions about the track that he shared in an interview with VladTV in September of that year. When asked what he thought of “Hold On, We’re Going Home,” Charlamagne said, “I hate that s*it.” He went on to speak extensively on why he thought Drake should stick to his rap lane, asking: “if you can be the next Jay-Z, why would you want to be the next Miguel?”
In November 2013, during another interview with VladTV, Charlamagne Tha God made a poor joke about Drake’s sexuality. The TV personality said “I always say it’s three sexual orientations out here, it’s gay, straight, and Drake. Drake is a whole different type of breed.”
By 2015, their relationship hadn’t gotten better. That is, until, the release of “Back To Back,” the diss song that earned Drake a Grammy nomination. On “Back To Back,” he mentioned the tension between him and Charlamagne, rapping, “You gon’ make me buy bottles for Charlamagne.” Surprisingly, he made good on his promise.
In a post shared on Instagram on July 29, 2015, the Breakfast Club host revealed that Drake really sent him a very expensive gift: six bottles of vintage 2004 Dom Perignon champagne. The bottles were also accompanied by a note written by Drake that read, “let’s be friends.” In the post’s caption, Charlamagne Tha God quoted the infamous line from “Back to Back” and further stated, “Drake living his raps.” This interaction marked the beginning of a short-lived truce between Drake and Charlamagne Tha God.
2018: Drake Stirs Up Trouble
In 2018, Charlamagne Tha God got yet another shoutout from Drake on Scorpion. However, this mention did not seem to be as friendly as the one on 2015’s “Back to Back.” On “Sandra’s Rose,” Drake references the bleaching rumor about Charlamagne that had been circulating online. The rapper wasn’t very subtle about it either, coolly rapping, “Like Charlamagne, I see the light and see the darkest patches.”
2018: Charlamagne Addresses His Relationship With Drake
A few days after Scorpion, Charlamagne appeared on Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen. During the appearance, Cohen asked Charlamagne what went wrong after the two squashed their beef. “I really don’t know, I think me and Drake will always have a love/hate relationship,” Charlamagne responded. “Even though he’s great, I’ll never have anything too good to say about him.”
2020: Charlamagne Takes Shots At “Toosie Slide”
In much the same way he disliked Drake singing, Charlamagne was not a fan of the rapper following trends. “Toosie Slide” was released to worldwide commercial success in 2020. However, while the world danced with Drake, Charlemagne Tha God was not impressed. In his usual fashion, he confidently aired his opinion about the song on an episode of his Brilliant Idiots podcast in April.
He stated, “I think it’s wack, and I think it’s beneath Drake. When you’re the biggest rapper in the world, I don’t like to see you chasing trends.” In December, Charlamagne Tha God boldly claimed the world had left the “Drake era” behind. “I don’t think we’ve been in the ‘Drake era’ for the last two or three years,” he said.
2021: Rigging The Charts
On The Breakfast Club in March 2021, the radio host joked about Drake’s influence on the Billboard charts. Drizzy had just become the first artist to debut three tracks in the top three spots on the Hot 100 chart with the release of Scary Hours 2. Charlamagne Tha God said he detected foul play, jokingly accusing Drake of cheating. “Don’t let the heart cut in the head fool you. Aubrey Graham is a demon who doesn’t play fair. He cheated. I can’t prove it. This might be pure hate,” Charlamagne said.” I’m not standing on nothing with this. I just think he cheated.”
2022-2023: Charlamagne Disses Honestly, Nevermind & “Slime You Out”
Drake’s house-inspired 2022 album Honestly, Nevermind, was also, unsurprisingly, not Charlamagne’s cup of tea. In yet another Breakfast Club episode, he called the album “elevator music.” Furthermore, Drizzy’s last single before his most recent album was “Slime You Out” featuring SZA. Yet again, Charlamagne slammed the track. He claimed that nobody cared about it since he hadn’t seen people talk about it days after it dropped.
It appears that Charlamagne’s latest commentary got under Drake’s skin. The rapper evidently had enough and unleashed a scathing response on his Instagram Story. “Are you ok Leonard?? You kinda weirding me out g. Like you really obsessed with me or something for years like you look in the mirror and wish you saw my reflection type shit. Whatever you gotta do to let it out I’m sure your 435 loyal fans will stand by you ya fucking goof,” Drake wrote on his IG Story. He also put up a picture of the Hell Of A Week host on his Instagram story, and captioned it “In deep thought about how you the off brand Morris Chestnut.”
2023: Charlamagne Says It’s All Staged
Addressing Drake’s stories, Charlamagne joked that he was a part of the rollout plan for Drake’s new album. “I’m part of the album rollout. He drops a record. I critique it. It brings more attention to the record, more attention to the project,” he said. He further stated, “I keep telling Drake he doesn’t need me to do that—he’s Drake. But for whatever reason, he wants me to do it so I oblige.”
Charlamagne Tha God wants y’all to lay off Drake a little bit. With The Boy’s For All the Dogs album currently the hottest thing in the streets and heavily criticized, Tha God offered some perspective.
“I do think the criticism is slightly unfair though because this is the same Drake music that he’s been putting out for at least the last five, six years,” Charlamagne said. “What’s the difference between this album and the album with 21 that he dropped last year.”
Previously, Charlamagne Tha God says we all fell for a trick that he and Drake conjure up every time The Boy is getting ready to release music. After being blasted by Drake on Instagram, Charlamagne states it was all a plan.
“I told y’all yesterday that Drake and I plan these things every time he drops certain records,” Drake said. “He wants me to hate on them because all noise is great noise nowadays.”
He added, “And I told y’all the play but nobody believes me ’cause I’m lying. But you should believe me even when I’m lying.”
Last month, The Boy fired off at The Breakfast Club host over his opinion on “Slime U Out,” Drake’s collaboration with SZA.
During his The Brilliant Idiots podcast with Andrew Schulz, Charlamagne stated no one cares that the single dropped. “Drake put out a song last Friday, and nobody cared.”
Charlamagne pushed back on others on the show who opposed his opinion, saying, “It came out last Friday, and people just started talking about the lyrics yesterday.”
He added, “He’s gone be fine but you look at the album cover and hear the title ‘For All the Dogs’ you expect something a little more hard. More aggressive.”
On Instagram, Drake had some words for Charlamagne: “You kinda weirding me out g. Like you really obsessed with me or something for years like you look in the morror and wish you say my reflection type shit…whatever you gotta do to let it out I’m sure your 435 loyal fans will stand by you ya fucking goof.”
In separate posts, Drake called Charlamagne an “off brand Morris Chestnut”
For the past few days, hip-hop bloggers and podcasters have been catching plenty of heat for sharing their opinions. In particular, we’ve seen Drake trading shots with both Charlamagne Tha God and Joe Budden regarding his new For All The Dogs album. Clearly being put on blast by the 6ix God didn’t phase the former. He had plenty to say about another rhymer – Kanye West – during a recent episode of his Brilliant Idiots podcast.
“I’ll tell you what Drake has that I don’t think Kanye has anymore,” The Breakfast Club host said in the clip below. “I think Drake has a devoted fanbase for his music. Kanye’s fanbase, people like Kanye, you know, whether it’s for the antics, for the sneakers, whatever else,” Charlamagne further speculated. “But you might not be checking for his music.” Co-host Andrew Schulz then chimed in with a story about being at a comic show and watching everyone in the vicinity rap along to Drizzy, which he compared to being at “a Taylor Swift concert.”
Of course, the Canadian artist has put out four noteworthy albums in the past few months. As for West, he’s focusing on fashion and his marriage to Bianca Censori. Schulz pointed out that older tracks from the latter’s discography would earn a similar reaction as what he saw with Drake, but when it comes to new music from the Chicago native, audiences don’t seem to get as hyped up to sing along.
While Charlamagne insists that Kanye West’s fans no longer care about his music, the father of four is reportedly planning an event in Italy that just may prove him wrong. It’s been some time since we’ve seen Ye perform live, but later this month he’s allegedly putting on a massive concert that’s sure to turn plenty of heads his way if the rumours are true. Read more about that at the link below, and check back later for more hip-hop/pop culture news updates.
Birdman is coming up for his boy Drake. The legendary producer took aim at two of the most prominent critics of For All The Dogs – Joe Budden and Charlamagne Tha God. “Calm down brother 4this real gangsta shit,” Birdman aimed at Budden. “I think you mean good and I respek you even thou we had our difference but I respek you @cthagod but respek @champagnepapi,” the producer told the radio host.
The defense comes after both men took shots at Drake’s new album. Budden said Drake was “rapping for children”. Meanwhile, Charlamagne had spent the weeks leading up to the album’s releasing beef with Drake and then trying to walk it back as stage as Drizzy’s fans turned on him. Birdman also stepped in after Druski trolled Drake and, more importantly, Cash Money. Birdman has never been one to take any sort of slander towards Drake or the legendary Young Money crew lying down.
The shot at Charlamagne comes a few days after The BreakfastClub host claimed that the two had put their long-standing beef behind them. Charlamagne told HipHopDX that all it took to end his beef with Birdman was a lengthy phone call. “He’s an OG that I look up to as far as what he’s built, as far as being a mogul. You can’t deny him,” Charlamagne told the outlet at the BET Hip Hop Awards. “[Big Bank] put us on the phone one time and I was able to tell him that [I look up to what he’s done]. It was just mutual respect. That was a fulfilling conversation for me.”
The beef between the two industry icons dates back to 2016. It stemmed from an interview that lasted just a few minutes. Birdman felt that Charlamagne and his radio co-hosts didn’t respect his name and status. Later he would drop a single, “Respek”, that called back to the whole debacle. While the beef went dormant over the years, it never truly went away until now.
