Cardi B Speaks Up For Viral Black Performers Amid Backlash

Cardi B is no stranger to speaking her mind in support of others, despite not always having the popular opinion. The entertainer quickly jumped on Instagram Live last night (Feb. 21) to discuss the backlash two Black men are receiving online for their viral videos. In short, popular TikTokers “The Dancing Gorilla” and “Chicken Boy” are receiving widespread hate for their outlandish performances in mostly White spaces. A petition to ban “Dancing Gorilla” Big Groove has already made its rounds as he gyrates his way onto our Explore pages.

“I seen a lot of people compare their content to […] Blackface or how people used to act for White people’s entertainment,” says Cardi. Although she admits “their content is very cringy,” the megastar is upset petitioners are trying to block their main sources of income overall. “They’re not cursing in their content, they’re not promoting all this gang violence. They’re not being bums-they’re actually getting paid by these restaurants to do it,” she adds. Furthermore, she compares their virality to that of Jake Paul’s, as she wonders why he hasn’t received the same treatment as his cohorts.

Cardi B Questions “Crab In A Barrel” Mentality

Cardi B continues to badger critics, calling them “crabs in a barrel” at one point. ”If you think that it’s lame as fu*k to dance and crunk around in a restaurant… Guess what?” she questions. “There [are] White content creators that are drinking soda out of $10,000 pairs of shoes.” Big Groove—real name Clive Ibizugbe—has gained over 690k followers on his TikTok page since making waves for his stature and dance moves in popular eateries. “Chicken Boy,” known as YuddyGangTV on his socials, has surpassed him with over 6 million. YuddyGang’s claim to fame has been his over-the-top responses when eating unhealthy foods with mounds of sauce. Both men have been accused of performing minstrelsy, an act where those donning Blackface would act as people of African descent.

In conclusion, the diva wants the same energy reciprocated towards their White counterparts who’ve gone to make millions. This is just one of the many instances Cardi B has responded to in recent weeks. Prior to this, the rapper hopped on Twitter to defend herself and husband Offset. The former Migos member was mentioned in a J. Prince video where the Texas music exec spoke on Offset’s relationship with the late Takeoff.

Cardi B Has A Message For Fans Amid Community Service

Cardi B’s 2018 strip club fiasco continues to interrupt the Bronx superstar’s downtime well into the new year. Although Belcalis had major charges dropped—two of which were felonies—the misdemeanor charges she pled to last September put her in community service. Cardi has been documenting her 15-day sentence on Twitter, and by the looks of her latest post, it hasn’t been the easiest thing to endure. The judge gave her an extension to finish the time after she skipped it the first go around.

“Day whatever the f**k of community service…” the mother of two tweeted a few hours ago. The picture, a selfie, shows the rapper rocking a Chanel hat and form-fitting clothing. “Obey the law !!!!“ Cardi B shared this exact statement one month ago when she shared a photo in front of the same mirror. Donning designer, the platinum-selling artist gave us a look into her second day on the court-ordered job. There’s no word on how much longer she has to complete the service.

Cardi B: “Obey the law!!!!”

Aside from her seemingly strenuous court ordeal, Bardi still seems to be on a high from V-Day. Her and husband Offset collaborated with McDonald’s to put out their own meal, inspired by their usual orders of burgers and fries. The “Cardi B & Offset Meal” became the 7th most searched term on Google that, capping at over 100,000 searches. They followed up with a conjoining commercial, a cutesy ad aired during last Sunday’s Super Bowl. Moreover, they’ve released their own Mickey D’s merchandise, a slight nod to Travis Scott, the first to do so.

There are still a few hours left to cop some of the cozy knits at cardiboffset.com. In addition to hats, the site carries shorts, hoodies, and tees as the cursor follows you around with emojis. Cardi B also hinted there’s more to content coming from the couple’s McDonald’s deal on Twitter in a recent post, too. Since then, she’s shared more photos of the couple dressed up for their value meals on Instagram. The romanticized adult happy meal—including customized Cardi and Offset cups and bags—is available while supplies last.

Cardi B And Offset’s Cheeky McDonald’s Merch Keeps Things Simple And Romantic

The Cardi B and Offset McDonald’s meal is upon us and you know what that means: exclusive, co-branded merch. This time around, it looks like the Golden Arches has decided to keep things simple with easy-to-manufacture apparel like T-shirts, hoodies, hats, and shorts. It appears that lessons were learned from the supply chain debacle with J Balvin’s more out-there options, but you do kind of wish Cardi and Set got the chance to go as crazy as Travis Scott did — if only to see what they’d come up with.

As it is, the options continue the lovey-dovey vibe of the overall concept; the T-shirts say goofy things like “nice buns,” the hoodies bear profiles of Cardi and Set saluting each other with sandwiches and McD’s “I’m lovin’ it” catchphrase, and the shorts are suitably cheek-baring for lounging around the house, as the couple can often be seen doing on social media. All in all, a 7/10 for the collection. It’s solid but you really do miss oddball add-ons like throw rugs, ashtrays, and chicken McNugget body pillows (bring them back, Mickey Ds!)

By all reports, the Cardi B And Offset Meal is selling well, and Cardi’s spent the past few days reposting fans’ pics of the meal — although she did take a break to show off some of her own photos from the couple’s Valentine’s vacation.

Cardi B Reacts To Instagram’s New GIF Feature, Says “The Twitter Ghettos” Is Where It Belongs

In order to keep up with their competitors, social media platforms are constantly launching new updates in hopes of satisfying current users and attracting new ones. In particular, Instagram has released several over the years that have helped elevate their platform. Among them are borrowing Snapchat’s concept of Stories to keeping up with TikTok via Reels. Most recently, they’re attempting to introduce GIFs in an exciting way.

Users have already been able to send the animated images back and forth in their DMs. Now, IG will allow them to respond to both Stories and feed posts with them. This feature is already popular on Twitter, where many use GIFs to their comedic advantage. According to Cardi B, Elon Musk’s app may be where the antics should stay.

On Friday (February 16) evening, the New Yorker wrote, “I know them GIFs ain’t hitting like they hit in the Twitter ghettos.” Her tweet has since earned nearly 7K likes, as well as hundreds of replies agreeing with her. “They need to be original and stick to comments only,” one fan account said.

In response to that, another page chimed in, “Instagram is NEVER original. They don’t know if they want to be TikTok or Twitter [at this point].” Elsewhere, someone else pointed out that IG hasn’t hit the same since they began prioritizing video content. “It’s so ghetto, Instagram needs to go back to pictures!” they demanded.

She’s obviously not be loving Instagram’s newest feature. Still, her followers on the app certainly ate up Cardi’s Super Bowl weekend outfits. During her time on stage, the mother of two put on a tantalizing display in a revealing metallic mini-dress. She also stepped out in Chanel and a pair of Loubitons on game day, though that look wasn’t exactly practical for the event.

On her Story last weekend, the rap diva posted a comedic clip of her and Offset awkwardly running through an Arizona parking lot. At the time, they were attempting to catch Rihanna’s Halftime Show, though Bardi’s footwear proved to be something of a problem. Read more about that here, and check back later for more pop culture news updates.

Cardi B Reckons The ‘Twitter Ghettos’ Is A Better Place For Instagram’s New Feature

The social media world is cutthroat in terms of different platforms trying to compete with each other, to either stay relevant or increase their market share. One way to gain an edge is by introducing new features, which Instagram understands: they’re currently rolling out a new feature allowing users to comment on posts and Stories with animated GIF images.

As for how the feature is being received, it appears Cardi B isn’t quite sold yet. On Twitter last night (February 16), she wrote, “I don’t know them gifs ain’t hitting like they hit in the twitter ghettos.”

As for how to make use of GIFs on Instagram, 91mobiles explains, “To reply with a GIF, users have to type the keyword of the GIF they’re searching for in the ‘Send Message’ or comment box and then tap the GIF icon that appears. A series of GIFs from GIPHY’s library will be presented to users based on the search phrase. The feature is being rolled out in phases and should be available to all shortly.”

Speaking of Instagram Stories, Cardi took to hers recently to reveal that she nearly missed Rihanna’s Super Bowl halftime show.

Remy Ma Responds To Cardi B Trolling Nicki Minaj With Her Picture

Remy Ma somehow got dragged into Nicki Minaj and Cardi B’s Twitter spat last year. Though Nicki’s feud with both individuals is well-documented, it became clear that she and Cardi will likely never see eye-to-eye. In the midst of the Bronx rapper’s feud with City Girls rapper JT, Nicki switched her profile picture to the Miami rapper as a sign of solidarity. In response, Cardi B switched her profile picture to Remy Ma, who previously had issues with Nicki Minaj.

It was a petty move that found the “Up” rapper and the Young Money artist back at odds. However, things took another turn afterward when Nicki took a jab at Cardi’s pen game. Though it’s no secret that Cardi gets assistance with her raps, the “Do We Have A Problem?” rapper shared a photo of a neon “Nicki” sign with a pen held in front of her first “i.” However, Nicki has since changed her picture from JT’s image while Remy Ma remains Cardi B’s avi.

Remy Ma Responds

During her recent appearance on Jason Lee’s The Jason Lee Show, Remy Ma reflected on Cardi changing her profile picture in the midst of her feud with JT. Though Lee explained it was evident why Cardi chose her image, he stated that they’re all “so petty.” “I ain’t even do nothin’,” Remy replied before Lee suggested she caught a sub in the midst of the feud. “I ain’t catch a stray, hold up, be clear,” she replied. She added that she was at home, watching the whole thing unfold like the rest of us.

Remy Ma explained that she didn’t care about the whole incident, but apparently, there were some people in her fanbase that were aggravated by Cardi’s move. Remy explained that some people tried to reach out to Twitter with claims that Cardi was impersonating the “All The Way Up” rapper. Still, Remy said it’s all love since she and Cardi go back years. “I fuck with Cardi,” Remy said. “She from the Bronx.” Peep the clip above and sound off with your thoughts in the comment section below.

Cardi B Shows Off Her Booty In Black Thong In Offset’s Valentine’s Day Photo Dump

Offset’s known to spoil Cardi B on Valentine’s Day and other holidays. Last year, the rapper showed out with an elaborate floral arrangement and a rose sculpture. Each year, he levels up and Cardi never fails to show her gratitude for his efforts. Similarly, he ensures he goes all out for her birthdays and Christmas. It feels like he’s just as much of a fan of surprising Cardi B as she appreciates the effort he puts into his romantic gestures.

This year wasn’t entirely different, though they kicked off it off during Super Bowl weekend. The couple starred in McDonald’s new campaign that unveiled the Cardi B and Offset meal. The promotional dinner marked McDonald’s first campaign with a celebrity couple. The date-night meal is made up of Cardi and Offset’s go-to meals. For Cardi, there’s a cheeseburger, barbecue sauce, and large Coke while ‘Set orders a large Hi-C and a quarter pounder with cheese. Additionally, there’s a large fries and Apple pie to split.

Cardi B Shows Off Her Backside In Offset’s V-Day Photo Dump

Though the couple made some major business plays for Valentine’s Day, Offset didn’t disappoint when it came to gifting Cardi B. The rapper hit the ‘Gram with a photo dump of his Valentine’s Day, including the large floral arrangement he got for Cardi. The first photo shows the Bronx rapper surrounded by roses, including a teddy bear made of flowers, as she smells a bouquet of roses and shows off her backside in a black thong.

“She my little ghetto princess,” he captioned the post. the rest of the slide includes a glimpse of his gifts to Cardi, including a number of Birkin and Chanel bags, as well as a recent trip to New York during the launch of their McDonald’s meal. Though many fans praised Cardi B and Offset, Mega Meezy, 21 Savage’s manager, poked fun at ‘Set’s efforts. “Why u gotta make it hard for us regular N***as Bruh? Lol,” Meezy wrote. Check out Cardi B and Offset’ Valentine’s Day festivities above. Have you tried the Cardi B and Offset meal at Mcdonald’s? Let us know in the comment section below.
