Eminem References Viral Gen Z Cancellation Meme On “The Death Of Slim Shady”

Today, Eminem finally unleashed The Death Of Slim Shady, and fans are already hard at work dissecting the new 20-track project. So far, it’s earned mixed reactions from listeners. While some are calling him out for being “corny,” others appreciate some of the more emotional moments of the album. Many are also taking note of some topical references to the “PC police,” “woke BS,” and more.

On his track “Trouble,” for example, he seemingly references the viral “Gen Z is trying to cancel Eminem” meme. “You gonna cancel me, yeah? Gen-Z me, bruh?” he spits. Of course, this has prompted a bit of a debate in Pop Base‘s comments section. Users are now arguing that the rapper can’t be canceled, insisting that nobody is trying to cancel him, or suggesting that this was merely an attempt to get Gen Z to interact with the project and prove a point.

Eminem Raps About Cancel Culture On “Trouble”

This is far from the only provocative line from The Death Of Slim Shady, however. Eminem also takes shots at Kanye West, Ja Rule, and more on his latest release. He even goes after Diddy and his countless allegations on “Antichrist,” referencing security footage of him assaulting his ex Cassie that surfaced online earlier this year. “Next idiot ask me is getting his a** beat worse than Diddy did [muted] / But on the real, though / She prolly ran out the room with his f***ing dildo / He try to field goal punt her, she said to chill / Now put it back in my a** and get the steel toe,” he raps.

Cardi B’s Fear Of Getting Canceled Prevents Her From Speaking Her Mind

It goes without saying that being a major star like Cardi B comes with a great deal of pressure. According to her, the fear of being criticized often holds her back from sharing how she feels. During a recent appearance on Big Boy’s Neighborhood, the hitmaker opened up about being afraid to say much of anything about polarizing topics. The femcee claims that this is because she doesn’t want to get “canceled.” She explained that while critics frequently accuse her of being scared to release new music, the truth of the matter is that she’s scared to do “everything.”

“That’s why I just disappear for a long time because I feel like fame stripped me from myself. And now I’m like being back to myself,” she described. “There’s a lot of music critics that just be like, ‘Cardi is scared to drop an album. She’s scared to drop music.’ No, I’m scared to do everything. I’m scared to talk about politics, I’m scared to talk about my life, I’m scared to talk about anything.”

Cardi B Stops By Big Boy’s Neighborhood

Fortunately, however, Cardi hasn’t let her fears stop her from sharing her music completely. Today, for example, she unveiled her highly-anticipated new single, “Enough (Miami).” She also teamed up with SZA to hop on a remix of Flo Milli’s viral hit “Never Lose Me” which dropped today. This all appears to be a part of Cardi’s return to her old self, which she teased in a heartfelt apology to fans last week.

“I want to apologize to my fans. To my fans, to myself, and to the people that love me for losing myself,” she told viewers during a livestream. “This has been a really hard journey to be back myself again.” What do you think of Cardi B admitting that she’s afraid of getting canceled? Diddy Claims To Be A Victim Of “Cancel Culture” In Response To Gang Rape Lawsuit

In recent months, Diddy has been hit by a plethora of lawsuits for alleged sexual assault, abuse, and more. His ex Cassie was the first to come forward in November, though they settled shortly after she filed. The following month, an anonymous woman accused him, Harve Pierre, and another unnamed man of sexually assaulting her in 2003.

The Bad Boy Records founder fired back in a motion to dismiss last week, alleging that his constitutional rights are being violated. “(Combs) never participated in, witnessed, or was or is presently aware of any misconduct, sexual or otherwise, relating to plaintiff in any circumstance whatsoever,” the filing reads. “Plaintiff’s decision to wait more than two decades to file her complaint has prejudiced defendant, as he has lost the ability to defend himself fully and fairly in this action.”

Days later, on February 23, a supplemental memorandum of law was filed on Diddy’s behalf. Similarly, the filing denies any wrongdoing on his part. “The lawsuit… Has resulted in them becoming victims of the ‘cancel culture’ frenzy in the courts,” it reads. “Well before any evidence has been presented, and on the basis of rank, uncorroborated allegations.” Diddy and his team want the complaint dismissed with prejudice, arguing that the statute of limitations expired in 2010.

Harve Pierre also denies the allegations. He told the court he “never participated in the sexual assault of the plaintiff nor did he ever witness anyone else sexually assaulting the plaintiff” earlier this month. What do you think of Diddy claiming to be a victim of cancel culture? What about his attempt at getting his gang rape lawsuit tossed out? Freddie Gibbs Says Cancel Culture Has Double Standard When It Comes To Black Men

Freddie Gibbs, the outspoken MC, didn’t mince words as he used the platform of Twitter/X during the Christmas Day NBA game at Madison Square Garden to shed light on what he perceives as a double standard in cancel culture. Particularly when it comes to Black men. At 41, Gibbs took a moment to deliver a pointed message, emphasizing the contrasting treatment between individuals of his race and those from other walks of life.

“We gotta cancel all our n-ggaz but Woody Allen f*cked his daughter and just be chillin at the Knick’s games,” Gibbs boldly declared in a tweet. The tweet echoed the sentiment shared by many who feel that cancel culture disproportionately impacts Black individuals. The reference to Woody Allen, the controversial Hollywood director involved in a highly publicized scandal with his adoptive stepdaughter, Soon-Yi Previn, served as a stark example of the perceived inconsistency in cancel culture.

Freddie Gibbs Shares A Piece Of His Mind

Moreover, social media shared their opinions. “…so do you want Black men to get away with the same crimes white men do? That’s what it seems like you’re insinuating,” one person commented. “Woody Allen happens to be one of the most canceled celebrities who is not going to prison, actually,” another person said. “He does know Woody Allen is cancelled as hell, right?” one more person said. Gibbs’ unfiltered post resonates with the frustration felt by many who observe a disparity in the consequences faced by public figures from different backgrounds. By calling attention to Woody Allen’s continued presence at Knick’s games despite the serious allegations against him, Gibbs challenges the norms and expectations that seem to govern the cancel culture landscape.

The tweet serves as a powerful commentary on the complexities and inequities within cancel culture. In highlighting the contrast between the treatment of Black individuals and others, Gibbs sparks a conversation about the need for a more equitable and consistent approach in holding individuals accountable for their actions, regardless of their race or status. In essence, Gibbs’ Christmas Day message is not just a critique of cancel culture but a call for a more just and unbiased system of accountability. One that applies the same standards to everyone, irrespective of their racial or societal standing. Thoughts? Let us know on HNHH!

Grimes Praises Doja Cat And Defends Lizzo

Grimes has weighed in on two of the biggest points of “discourse” currently circulating on the internet. Doja Cat recently released her new single “Paint the Town Red” to widespread praise. However, the somewhat controversial singer has also come under fire for the way she responds to fans on social media. Last month, Doja posted and then deleted comments disparaging her fanbase. “Just delete the entire account and rethink everything,” she tweeted at a fan account. “I don’t though because I don’t even know y’all,” she tweeted at another person. The person in question had asked her to say she loved her fans.

Meanwhile, Lizzo has been sued by three of her former dancers on claims of creating a toxic work environment. Lizzo herself has been accused of forcing dancers into sexually uncomfortable situations, including pressuring dancers into touching a nude dancer in Amsterdam. Furthermore, Lizzo has been accused of firing a dancer after the dancer stood up to her after the singer accused her dance team of drinking on the job. Meanwhile, the captain of Lizzo’s dance team has been accused of forcing their religious beliefs onto people and weight-shaming dancers.

Grimes Wades Into The Discourse

Grimes praised Doja for “Paint the Town Red” while also pushing back on her online behavior. “This is simply a masterpiece. I don’t think it’s cool to lash out at fans but I don’t think anyone can truly understand the psychic perils of fame unless they’ve been thru it. And I’ve never seen genius without dragon energy. Doja has always been a friend and deeply kind person to me. She’s one of my favorite artists ever I hate when an artist gets cancelled and we’re all quiet cuz we don’t want guilt by association. Doja will be one of greatest artists of all time and we all know it and idc if I get in trouble for fucking adoring this. Damn,” Grimes said, retweeting a clip from the song.

“I love Lizzo. Not saying I don’t believe ppl when bad things happen, but I had dancers mistreated on my watch. Mebe shit is bad. But loyalty matters to me. Lizzo was kind to me and others for a decade before she was “cool”, and she checked in in me when no one cared. I’ve only ever seen exemplary behavior from her, especially when everyone was hating on me and she was on top of the world. There was no reason for her to check in, besides to be a good person. Just my two cents. I recall when she first blew up being so happy because I’d never known such an admirable person to find fame in the music industry. I struggle to believe she would have so radically changed 💜 tired of a culture that seeks to destroy it’s greatest virtues. Lizzo is amazing,” she said of Lizzo.

Grimes Invokves Fascism While Defending Lizzo

Later, Grimes also tweeted about “democracy” in a post that felt very much inspired by her earlier comments about Lizzo. “modern democracy is built on the principal of “innocent until proven guilty” Curious how so many speak loudly against fascism, yet demand a dismantling of the precarious luxury of freedom so few besides them – the very most privileged in all of history – have ever lived. How did this rhetorical trap overtake our civilization?” the singer tweeted.

Chris Brown Declares That He Can’t Be Canceled, Makes Fun Of “Weirdos” Trying To Do So

Chris Brown might be the “canceled” celebrity that brings that up the most often, even if it’s mostly in a gloating manner. Moreover, the R&B singer has often addressed people criticizing his current and past behavior, either asking them to hush up or flexing his continued success on them. No matter what his attitude is, it’s clear that, for some reason, Brown wants to make that part of his career history a part of his brand and identity. Many criticisms levied against him range from the vague and occasional to the serious and systemic. Of course, a big example is his attacking of Rihanna, but other examples of alleged mistreatment, colorism, and controversial statements also came up.

Furthermore, the “Summer Too Hot” star is intent on proving the haters “wrong” by boasting the fact that he’s still an industry titan. Recently, Chris Brown took to Instagram to share a slightly cringe-inducing Instagram Story on this topic for no reason other than he simply can. “WEIRDOS: didn’t we cancel Chris Brown?” he wrote on a black background. “Me: IM STILL ALIVE.”

Chris Brown Declares Himself Un-Cancelable

After some outlets covered the post on social media, the comments split themselves into camps of defense and scolding. “Can we normalize people making mistakes and LEARNING from them?!” one user posited. “People grow and change. Is it hard to subscribe to the notion that Chris has CHANGED?! Some of you probably still hold on to being teased in Kindergarten. Seek therapy and do not project your nonsense.” However, some would argue that Chris Brown hasn’t showed that growth, in large part because of his dismissal of everything after so long. “Um does cancel mean murder now?” one commenter wrote. “I stopped listening to him years ago but I don’t care if other people want to continue to listen to his music. I’m tired of people crying about being canceled. You’re clearly not so stfu.”

Meanwhile, he continues to sell wildly expensive tickets for his shows to considerable success and acclaim. Whether this narrative will ever fade will probably be a continuous question. However, a more important one is whether the artist himself will ever move past that. Until he does, how can he expect others to do so? Still, check back in with HNHH for the latest news and updates on Chris Brown.

DaBaby Claims That He Beat Cancel Culture In New Interview

In case you missed it, DaBaby has recently re-emerged following somewhat of an absence from the public light. Though he released two albums last year neither of them got a whole lot of attention. BETTER THAN YOU was a collaboration with NBA Youngboy that took a pretty harsh critical beating. Later that year he released his next solo album Baby On Baby 2 though it didn’t fare much better. Recently he’s begun popping up more and more though. His new song “SHAKE SUMN” has been a viral hit that’s hung around the back end of the Hot 100 in the month since it was released. He’s also been appearing in more and more shows, interviews, and news stories.

In a new interview recorded at the BET Awards the “ROCKSTAR” rapper claims to have beaten cancel culture. The “cancel culture” he’s referring to is the backlash to homophobic comments he made during a performance. He went on a rant during a set at Rolling Loud 2021 that critics picked apart as homophobic and in bad taste. In the following days he made comments about the rant that many saw as doubling down. Now, DaBaby is framing his return to the limelight as beating cancel culture.

DaBaby’s Thoughts On His Return

Back in May, DaBaby reflected on the homophobic outburst and his response to it. While many expected him to ultimately apologize he seemed to think he could have fought the controversy even harder. He isn’t even the first person to describe his actions as overcoming cancel culture. Just last week Fat Joe praised the rapper for reportedly coming back after being “cancelled.”

Elsewhere in this interview he discusses other subjects like Boosie BadAzz’ recent arrest on federal gun charges. He also touches on J. Cole who is now a part owner of the Charlotte Hornets. Cole was part of a group that purchased DaBaby’s hometown team from previous owner Michael Jordan. The interview is brief but manages to squeeze in a variety of DaBaby’s thoughts on numerous subjects. What do you think of DaBaby’s comments on cancel culture? Let us know in the comment section below.

Cam’ron Says He Can’t Be Canceled After “Creed III” Controversy

Creed III earned praise across the board but Cam’ron explained that he didn’t have any intention to watch the film. The Dipset rapper shared a photo of Michael B. Jordan and Jonathan Majors, writing, “The reason I didn’t go see creed.” Some fans pushed back against Cam while others agreed with his sentiment. Isaac Hayes III pointed out the film’s success, writing, “Made $262 million at the box office. They good.”

Ultimately, Cam’s issues with the movie turned into a larger debacle surrounding homophobia in hip-hop. Skillz called out Cam before Masta Ace, and A Tribe Called Quest’s Jabori White slid into the comment sections. Three 6 Mafia’s DJ Paul commented under Skillz post and implored Cam to look past his own hesitancies and check out Creed III. “My brother missing out cause it’s an Amazing movie! I’ve watched it five times and I’m not just saying that because we had the theme song in the trailer,” he wrote. Still, it doesn’t look like Cam’ron will end up catching the latest installment in the Creed series anytime soon.

Cam’ron Is Unapologetic

Beyond the rap community, it appears that a few people on the Internet have attempted to “cancel” Cam’ron but the rapper rejected these attempts. He hopped on Instagram this week to address anyone who wants to put his career on hold due to his comments. “How the fuck you gon’ cancel n***as who canceled they self, n***a?… Since 2007, I said, ‘Fuck the whole music shit,” he said. He added that he’s still moving projects, including Killa Season, which is now “quadruple platinum.”

“You can’t cancel n***as who canceled themselves and don’t give a f*ck,” he continued. “We left when we wanted to leave. Fuck cancel culture. We started it with ourselves. You sound stupid.” Cam’ron evidently isn’t folding to the public pressure or any scrutiny that comes his way. The rapper is currently producing and hosting his own sports talk show titled It Is What It Is alongside Ma$e, who also appeared in Cam’s video. Check out what they had to say above and sound off with your thoughts in the comments.

Summer Walker Is Scared Of Being Canceled

Summer Walker has come out to say why she suffers from shyness, especially when it comes to interviews. Since her rise in popularity in 2018, Summer Walker remains relatively reserved. However, she has now come out to state the reason for her hesitancy to speak out in interviews. In an Instagram story, Summer states that she has spent 27 years trying to understand her own shyness. “It’s cause I’m trying real hard not to say something crazy. I’m literally walking around over thinking how not to hurt anyone’s feelings.”

Summer Walker’s anxiety around interviews is understandable, given the high stakes of public scrutiny. In recent years, several high-profile musicians have faced backlash for controversial statements and behavior. This can result in lost fans and brand deals. As a relatively new artist, Summer may feel particularly vulnerable to criticism. In fact, Summer has already garnered some heat for seemingly innocent comments she has made on Instagram before. But fans are acutely aware of her absence from interviews in comparison to her R&B peers.

Summer Walker Is Too “Ghetto” For Interviews

At the same time, Summer Walker’s reluctance to engage with the media could also limit her career opportunities. Interviews and press appearances are important tools for building a fanbase and promoting new music. By avoiding these opportunities, Summer may miss out on potential fans and industry connections. However, she has not always kept to herself. Summer has opened up a bit about her pregnancy and children, and how they impact her life. She happily talks about how her twins, and how proud she is of herself for bringing them into the world.

However, Summer Walker has felt the need to address why she does not frequently attend interviews. In her own words, Summer feels that she is too ghetto to get away with an interview gracefully. “Deep down I’m ghetto af n I be scared ima get canceled.” Born on April 11th, Summer is an Aries, who are known for their fiery passion. In the hopes of not offending anyone, she chooses to hold her tongue. While cancel culture is a real concern, it’s important for artists to stay true to themselves. But at the same time, it’s important to weigh the pros and cons of speaking your mind freely.
