President Biden Addresses NFL Safety Concerns After Talking To Damar Hamlin’s Parents

President Joe Biden addressed Damar Hamlin’s frightening medical emergency on Wednesday after speaking with the Pennsylvania native’s parents. He also addressed safety concerns in the NFL.

Speaking with reporters, Biden was asked if “the NFL is getting too dangerous.”

The head of state responded, “No, look. The idea that you’re gonna have…you’ve got guys that are 6’8″, 340 pounds running a 4.8 40. If you hit somebody with that kinda force, now that’s not what happened here, but I just think it’s, I don’t know how you avoid it.”

“I think working like hell on the helmets, the concussion protocols, that all makes a lot of sense. But it is dangerous. We gotta just acknowledge it,” he added.

The Bills confirmed via their Twitter after that the 24-year-old safety had suffered a heart attack, saying, “Damar Hamlin suffered a cardiac arrest following a hit in our game versus the Bengals. His heartbeat was restored on the field and he was transferred to the UC Medical Center for further testing and treatment. He is currently sedated and listed in critical condition.”

Sports reporter Matt Parrino tweeted Tuesday that he spoke with Hamlin’s uncle, revealing, “Damar has a little lung damage but he’s now breathing using only 50% of ventilator. He needed 100% yesterday.”

Per CNN, Hamlin now remains at the hospital in critical condition. Check back with us at HNHH for additional updates on the NFL star’s recovery.

Skip Bayless Apologizes To Viewers For Bills-Bengals Game Tweet On ‘Undisputed’

Skip Bayless Catches Heat For Saying He Has 'No Sympathy' for Dak Prescott's Fight With Depression

Undisputed co-host Skip Bayless apologized to viewers on Tuesday’s (Jan. 3) episode, with an absent co-host Shannon Sharpe, for his tweet following the horrific injury of Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin during the Monday Night Football game on January 2nd between the Buffalo Bills and Cincinnati Bengals. The 71-year-old famed journalist/correspondent was met with huge backlash on Monday night after tweeting to his 3.2 million followers on Twitter: “No doubt the NFL is considering postponing the rest of this game – but how? This last in the season, a game of this magnitude is crucial to the regular-season outcome … which suddenly seems so irrelevant.”

Bayless began Tuesday’s episode with an apologetic opening monologue, in which he said, “I apologize for what we’re going to do today. I’m not sure I’m capable of doing this show today but, after barely sleeping on it, I decided to give it a try. Maybe I’ll fail, maybe we will fail, but we’re going to try. We wrestled through most of the night whether to even do a show today because we felt like, in our minds, we almost can’t win with this because the last thing we want to do is come off as insensitive to what this young man is going through in a life or death situation.”

An outraged social media called for Skip Bayless’s firing by Fox Sports 1 on Monday evening, with several retired NFL football stars like 6-time Pro Bowl wide-receiver Terrell Owens calling him “dead wrong” and hoping he loses his job. The network made no comment on Skip Bayless or the Damar Hamlin situation at press time.

In the midst of the backlash on Monday, Bayless followed up his original tweet with a concerning tweet about Hamlin’s health and the ultimate importance of health for the players over the game.

“Nothing is more important than that young man’s health,” he wrote. “That was the point of my last tweet. I’m sorry if that was misunderstood but his health is all that matters. Again, everything else is irrelevant. I prayed for him & will continue to.”

Although absent from Undisputed on Tuesday, Shannon Sharpe shared his prayers with fans, Hamlin and his family on Monday evening. “Please keep Demar Hamlin and his family in your thoughts and prayers,” wrote The three-time Super Bowl champion. “NFL doesn’t have a manual on how to proceed after an incident like this.”

Amid Damar Hamlin’s injury, the NFL has announced that the game between the Buffalo Bills and Cincinnati Bengals will not resume this week.

One day following Damar Hamlin’s shocking collapse during Monday’s Buffalo Bills V. Cincinnati Bengals game, his uncle revealed that the 24-year-old had to be resuscitated both on the field and after he was taken to a hospital.

According to ESPN reporter Coley Harvey, Dorian Glenn said that he watched his nephew’s collapse on television while in Pittsburgh. The family then drove to Cincinnati immediately after.

“Glenn said his nephew had to be resuscitated twice,” Harvey also reported. “Once on the field at Paycor Stadium, once after he arrived at the hospital. There is a concern of lung damage, Glenn said.”

Following up, he added, “Glenn also was very complementary of doctors here at University of Cincinnati Medical Center, and the outpouring of support his family has received from the city of Cincinnati.”

According to Buffalo Bills reporter Matt Parrino, who also spoke to Glenn, “Damar has a little lung damage but he’s now breathing using only 50% of ventilator. He needed 100% yesterday.”

As HotNewHipHop previously reported, Hamlin collapsed after taking a hard hit during the game’s first quarter. After being aided on the field, he was taken to a local hospital and placed on a ventilator.

Skip Bayless’ Damar Hamlin Tweet Causes Reactions From Stephen Jackson & Kyle Kuzma

Last night, Buffalo Bills Safety Damar Hamlin suffered one of the worst injuries the sports world has ever seen.

During the first quarter of the Bills game against the Cincinnati Bengals on Monday (December 2), Hamlin collapsed on the field after making a tackle.

The world was immediately sent into shock when the 24-year-old had to receive CPR for nearly 10 minutes following the incident. Reports indicate that he went into cardiac arrest.

Both Bengals and Bills players began surrounding Hamlin as this was going on. He subsequently left the stadium in an ambulance to take him to the University of Cincinnati Medial Center. He remains there, reportedly in critical condition.

As the world was awaiting an update on the 24-year-old’s status, Skip Bayless took to his Twitter account to share his thoughts on the league’s looming decision on the rest of the game. Evidently, everyone was seemingly in agreement that the game should be postponed.

“No doubt the NFL is considering postponing the rest of this game – but how? This late in the season, a game of this magnitude is crucial to the regular-season outcome … which suddenly seems so irrelevant,” the sports columnist writes in his controversial tweet.

Stephen Jackson subsequently took to his Instagram Stories to share his thoughts on the 71-year-old’s tweet. “You know what’s crazy? If it was Tom Brady, I guarantee you would’ve chose your words wisely. Somebody that’s been in journalism for over 40 years knows exactly what to say and how to say it,” says the former NBA player.

“We ain’t talking about an athlete that went into journalism, we talking about somebody that’s been in journalism their whole life. He never was an athlete. Not once was he an athlete. So journalism is his thing, just like basketball is my thing. He knows what he’s saying and when he’s saying it. He not getting no pass for this. But now everybody on his ass, now he wanna come with a lame ass apology. And don’t come on TV and say, ‘we can’t be insensitive to this situation.’ You wrote that tweet, nobody else,” he continues afterwards.

Additionally, Kyle Kuzma also has some choice words for the Undisputed co-host. “How come there is no repercussions for any of Skip Bayless’s insensitive things that he has said over the years?? Hmmmm….” says the Wizards Power Forward.

In 2020, Bayless publicly criticized Dak Prescott and implied that he was a bad leader for the Cowboys. This came after the Quarterback revealed that he had been dealing with depression due to the pandemic and his brother’s suicide. “I don’t have sympathy for him going public with, ‘I got depressed. I suffered depression early in Covid, to the point that I couldn’t even go work out.’ Look, he’s the Quarterback of America’s team,” he says in the clip.

Regardless, the 71-year-old has since apologized for his seemingly insensitive tweet. “Nothing is more important than that young man’s health. That was the point of my last tweet. I’m sorry if that was misunderstood but his health is all that matters. Again, everything else is irrelevant. I prayed for him & will continue to,” he clarifies.

Our thoughts and prayers continue to be with Damar Hamlin and his family. Stay tuned to HNHH for any further updates.

Von Miller Sends A Message After ACL Surgery

Von Miller has been a great player for the Buffalo Bills this season. Miller has won two Super Bowls at this point, and with the Bills in a position to win this year, Miller’s experience has been extremely valuable to the team and its goals.

Unfortunately for Miller, he suffered a knee injury during a Thanksgiving Day game against the Lions. Initially, it was thought that Miller would be good to go after a few weeks. However, it was revealed this week that Miller would actually need surgery to repair his ACL.

Von Miller Speaks After Surgery

Yesterday, Miller officially had successful surgery on his knee. Now, Miller is out for the season and will have to watch his team from the sidelines. Overall, it is a bad situation for Miller. However, in a video posted to his Instagram story, he made it clear that he’s doing just fine.

“Mentally, I couldn’t be in a better spot and I think that is the majority of it. Don’t feel sorry for me, don’t say I hate it for you — none of that stuff ’cause I am good!” Miller said. “I’m excited for the opportunity to show my teammates how tough I am, how hard I work, and how important that this means to me. I love you guys, and I appreciate you guys. All love and respect. Don’t blink, baby!”

The Bills have five games to go this season. For now, they are gunning for the top spot in the AFC which would give them a bye to the Division Round. Without Miller, however, it is going to be just a bit tougher to make it through.

Buffalo Bills Release Newly Drafted Punter Matt Araiza Following Gang Rape Accusation

The Buffalo Bills have announced the release of their punter Matt Araiza. The roster adjustment comes two days after a civil lawsuit was filed stating Araiza and two of his former teammates at San Diego State gang raped a minor.

According to ESPN, Araiza and the other two men are accused of rape, gender violence, and false imprisonment. Araiza’s two former teammates have been removed from the San Diego State football team.

“This is bigger than football,” Bills’ general manager Brandon Beane said. “Let’s just step back and [let Araiza] go handle this. That’s what we thought was most important.”

Araiza was not present for the team’s most recent appearances but did release a statement on Friday: “The facts of the incident are not what they are portrayed in the lawsuit or in the press. I look forward to quickly setting the record straight.”

Beane added, “With the serious nature and allegations, and we just can’t, we don’t have the means to put all the facts together.”

Araiza was 21 at the time of the alleged crime, and Jane Doe was 17 and a high school senior. The incident occurred at an off-campus party in the early morning of October 17, 2021. The woman stated she was taken inside of a homie and was raped for over an hour and a half by Araiza, Zavier Leonard, a redshirt freshman, and Nowlin Ewaliko. Piercings in the nose, belly button, and ear were pulled out during the act, and she was bleeding from the vagina.

Araiza’s criminal attorney Kerry Armstrong released a statement:

“I am sure he is very upset and disappointed that his career with the Bills ended not because he played poorly, but because of false allegations leveled against him by a young lady and her attorney. I hope he is back in the NFL soon.”
