Kodak Black To Be Released From Prison

Kodak Black is expecting to be released from prison as early as Wednesday night, his attorney, Bradford Cohen, announced on Instagram. While Kodak pleaded guilty to one count of failure to report police contact, Judge Jose Martinez dismissed all other counts. With time served, he’s already ready for release.

“Federal Probation terminated with time served,” Cohen wrote. “In the Southern District of Florida Judge Martinez dismissed all substantive counts and Kodak plead to sole violation of failure to report police contact. Time served and he should be released by tonight. With my co counsel @skywriter.esq @kodakblack.”

Police originally planned to charge Kodak with cocaine possession after an arrest in December 2023, wherein they found a “white chunky substance” in his vehicle. However, they ended up going with oxycodone possession, thus violating his probation. Cohen quickly came forward to argue Kodak had a prescription for the painkillers. “It’s oxycodone that Kodak had a prescription for and not an illegal substance,” Cohen wrote on social media at the time. “Knowing that the officer substantially misrepresented his observations, the Broward State Atty Office still filed the charge. Unbelievable and it will not be tolerated. This level of abuse of power by the arresting officer is disgusting.” Check out Cohen’s latest update on Kodak below.

Earlier this month, Judge Barbara Duffy admitted during a hearing that prosecutors failed to “refute or negate the material fact that the defendant had an oxycodone prescription filled by a pharmacy.” Kodak, himself, has yet to comment on the update but be on the lookout for further news on the rapper and his release on HotNewHipHop.

Kodak Black Update: Rapper’s Attorney Insists Lab Report Confirms Oxycodone, Not Cocaine, On His Person

No matter how discouraging Kodak Black’s situation looks from the outside, Bradford Cohen remains dedicated to bringing the Back For Everything artist home. As his client remains behind bars, the famous attorney is speaking out on his behalf. He claims that the substance on Yak’s person during his latest arrest wasn’t cocaine, as authorities claim. Rather, it was allegedly Oxycodone, which he has a prescription for after enduring beatdowns during past stints in prison.

Unfortunately for the Southern entertainer, Cohen’s request for a drug treatment program was denied. The presiding judge is calling him a “danger to the community.” Nevertheless, Black’s legal team continues in their fight for his freedom. They lit up social media with an update on Tuesday (January 9) morning. “As stated when this new case first was filed, this was not cocaine and the officer was lying about his observations,” the 26-year-old’s lawyer wrote in his latest Instagram caption.

“We finally got the lab report,” Cohen continued. “It’s Oxycodone that Kodak had a prescription for and not an illegal substance. Knowing that the officer substantially misrepresented his observations, the Broward State [Attorney] Office still filed the [charges]. Unbelievable and it will not be tolerated. This level of abuse of power by the arresting officers is disgusting.” For now, the plan of action is to “seek a new bond hearing and address these unethical practices by the police department.”

Unfortunately for Kodak Black, 2024 isn’t off to an optimistic start. After announcing on IG Live that he’s got another baby on the way, rumour has it that the Florida native might be behind bars even longer than expected. If all goes the prosecutor’s way, Yak will have to serve the sentence that was formerly pardoned by Donald Trump in 2020. Read more about that at the link below, and check back later for more hip-hop/pop culture news updates.

Kodak Black’s Attorney Denies Rapper Had Cocaine During Drug Bust, Says It Was Percocet

Kodak Black’s lawyer affirms that it wasn’t cocaine in his possession during his recent arrest but Percocet. Last week, Florida police arrested the rapper after they discovered him asleep at the wheel of his vehicle. After he was booked on drug charges, authorities said they found him with a mouth of white powder and a white pebble-like substance on the ground at the scene. The initial test of the substances returned positive for cocaine, though Kodak insisted that it was Percocet. His attorney, Bradford Cohen, echoed this statement to TMZ recently.

“In this latest case, my belief is that the ‘rock’ this officer found when tested will be a Percocet, not cocaine,” Cohen told the media outlet, despite the test. “The test they do is a presumptive test for illegal substances. It just turns blue.” The attorney added that the rapper developed a dependency on Percocet ever since he was behind bars. “There will be a couple of different phases of this treatment in order for him to get better. You have to treat the root problem of the dependency and that’s what is going to happen. We are going to alleviate dependency,” Cohen added.

News of Kodak Black’s arrest caused a stir online, especially after police claimed that he was in possession of cocaine. However, Yak appeared on Instagram Live shortly after bonding out where he explained that he was on lean and fell asleep in front of his family’s house. Although he admitted abusing Percocets, he made it clear that he doesn’t do cocaine. He added that he’s plenty over $350,000 to help get clean. “I’m working on myself,” he told his fans online.

While his latest arrest was another legal bump in the road, fans are undoubtedly revving up for the release of new music. Ye and Ty Dolla $ign recently debuted their joint project together, which brings an eclectic group of collaborators, from North West to Freddie Gibbs. However, the most anticipated song on the album includes appearances from Kodak Black and Bad Bunny who appear on the same song. With Vultures set to drop on Friday, we’re excited to hear the final result of Yak’s collaboration with Kanye West, Ty Dolla $ign, and Bad Bunny.

Kodak Black Files To Have Drug Possession Case Thrown Out

Kodak Black and his legal team want the rapper’s 2022 drug possession case thrown out, according to court documents obtained by TMZ. They argue that the pills Kodak possessed were completely legal and acquired over the counter as Tylenol, not oxycodone. Authorities had charged Kodak with one count of possession of a controlled substance and one count of trafficking oxycodone in July of that year.

Additionally, Kodak’s lawyer, Bradford Cohen, accuses the Broward Sheriff’s Office of a massive cover-up involving FBI Special Agent James Mitchell. He argues Mitchell is biased against his client. He writes in the motion that the pills were destroyed after test results found them to just be simple over-the-counter medication. Cohen describes it all as a “coordinated takedown” of Kodak.

It’s not the first time Cohen has accused authorities of having a vendetta against Kodak. After Hunter Biden pleaded guilty to felony gun charges, Cohen explained to Fox News that Kodak was treated much worse. “There’s no such thing as not getting jail time on a gun charge on any kind of gun charge,” Cohen explained, “I’ve never seen anyone where this offense was charged and they didn’t get some sort of prison sentence. And in fact, most of the time in federal court, you very rarely see people get anything but a prison sentence.” He added: “I think that this is like, you know, they figured the easiest way for them to save face [was] to charge him, not give him prison, and then hope that [Joe] Biden doesn’t give him a pardon until he’s on his way out two years.”

The latest motion arrives after Kodak sparked health concerns after appearing on Drink Champs, last month. Many fans found Kodak’s behavior confusing and much of what he said difficult to understand. He responded to the concern on Instagram Live afterward. “Believe nothing you hear and half of what you see too because looks could be deceiving,” Kodak said. Be on the lookout for further updates on Kodak Black on HotNewHipHop.

Kodak Black Booked at Florida Jail, Pretrial Restrictions Dropped Upon Release

FzlbBb7aYAEB6Z2

Kodak Black became a Florida jail on Monday and was released on a $250,000 bond.

Speaking with TMZ, Kodak’s lawyer, Bradford Cohen, revealed the booking was good for the rapper, citing he failed to take some mandatory urine tests and check in leading to court on Monday. Fans became familiar with the situation when Black complained about the scenario on Instagram Sunday.

The good part comes as Cohen petitioned the judge to drop the pretrial supervision, successfully getting it done. The bond increased from $75,000 to $250,000, and Kodak happily paid the $175,000 difference.

Kodak was in and out of processing within an hour. He can now travel and tour without the check-ins.

The conditions resulted from Kodak’s July 2022 arrest for allegedly trafficking oxycodone after 31 pills were found in his car.

Kodak Black’s Lawyer Breaks Down Differences In 6ix9ine & Gunna Cases

Bradford Cohen knows a thing or two about high-profile cases, especially with a steady client like Kodak Black. The Florida star has had his fair share of legal troubles, and with each turn, Cohen is there to ensure Kodak is taken care of. It seems that Cohen has received several requests to speak about the YSL case, more specifically, about Gunna.

Tekashi 6ix9ine made his voice heard on social media as he targeted the “Pushin P” rapper. Following Gunna agreeing to a plea deal, 6ix9ine questioned why the industry wasn’t attacking the YSL star with the same fervor that they did to him.

As we know, 6ix9ine can be unrelenting when someone is in his crosshairs. Cohen penned a lengthy statement on Instagram where he addressed the differences in 6ix9ine’s cooperation with the authorities and Gunna copping to a plea.

“I have been getting an enormous amount of DMs asking my opinion on Gunna vs 69 comparison. It’s interesting, but in my opinion different scenarios,” Cohen began. “First I don’t judge what a Def does in their own interest. That’s their business. You can decide if you FW them or not and that’s your decision.”

“Some people believe any snitching is snitching. In Gunna’s case his plea only effects the defense of Ythug if he was to blame Gunna for drugs in the car,” he also wrote. “Other than that the statement doesn’t come into a trial.”

Cohen further shared that 6ix9ine’s situation involved actual testimony against co-defendants.

“That was full on testifying against co def and against others in the industry,” he added. “Again, not saying what’s right or wrong, but there is a distinct difference in the 2 situations.”

Gunna was the first YSL co-defendant to agree to a plea. In recent weeks, the public has noticed that several of the rapper’s friends and Rap peers have unfollowed him on social media.

In his return to Instagram, Gunna advocated for YSL and Young Thug. Fourteen co-defendants are on trial and face several charges related to allegations that YSL is a criminal organization.
