Hit-Boy Is Over The Moon About Getting Praise From Timbaland

Even Hit-Boy gets starstruck sometimes. The celebrated producer recently received a compliment that held special significance for him. And it came from none other than his hero, Timbaland. The 36-year-old hitmaker shared the heartwarming moment on social media, underscoring the impact of recognition from someone he looked up to. On Monday (January 1), Hit-Boy posted a video featuring his father, Big Hit, working out while one of his latest music videos with The Game played on a television screen in front of him. Moreoever, the video showcased a proud father supporting his son’s achievements in the music industry.

Notable figures in the hip-hop community, including DJ Premier, Meek Mill, and Paul Wall, joined the comments section to express their admiration for the father-son duo. However, what seemed to touch Hit-Boy the most was a compliment from Timbaland, a figure he considers a hero. Furthermore, in the screenshot shared on Twitter, Timbaland’s comment read: “This boy producing his asss offf putting out his dad the hardest shit ever!!!!!!!!” Hit-Boy reshared the comment, capturing the moment with the caption, “Nah I used to practice making beats as a teenager by biting Timbaland and all my other heroes so this hit different. I’m whaaaa.”

Hit-Boy Is In Awe

The significance of Timbaland’s recognition lies in the fact that Hit-Boy acknowledges him as one of his early influences and mentors. Moreover, the admission that he used to practice making beats by studying Timbaland and other heroes adds a layer of nostalgia and authenticity to the moment. Furthermore, it highlights the impact that mentorship and inspiration can have on an artist’s journey.

This interaction not only showcases the supportive nature of the hip-hop community but also emphasizes the importance of acknowledgment from those who paved the way. In the dynamic world of music production, where influences play a crucial role, Timbaland’s praise becomes a powerful testament to the growth and success of Hit-Boy. However, it also serves as a reminder of the interconnectedness of the hip-hop landscape across generations. What are your thoughts on this story? Let us know on HNHH!

The Game, Hit-Boy & Big Hit Drop Surprise Drop ‘Paisley Dreams’ Album, Recorded In One Night

The Game, Hit-Boy & Big Hit Drop Surprise Drop 'Paisley Dreams' Album

This is proof that the game of Hip-Hop truly has no rules.

Los Angeles rapper The Game has teamed up with Hit-Boy and his father Big Hit to drop a surprise project called Paisley Dreams. Released on the first day of 2024 to kick off the year on a high note, the 9-track project came as a result of an epic studio session between the three Los Angeles natives.

The Game posted the album’s cover art to his 13.9 million followers on Instagram, with the caption: “I pulled on @hitboy & @bighit 3 days ago to do 1 song… stayed a few hours & ended up doing a 9 song tape that night. I’m not here to ask you to stream it or download it. I’m just a man, telling his fans a story about last night & the night before.”

The crazy part is, the project was recorded, mixed and mastered, and uploaded to streaming platforms within less than a week. This just goes to show the work ethic of all three artists, specifically Hit-Boy who continues to prove his case for why he should take home the award for Producer of the Year at this year’s Grammys.

Hit-Boy also shared more details of the making of the project: “The Game pulled up on me and Big Hit 4 days ago and i was thinking maybe we ask him to get on the “Bang Freestyle” remix or something at MOST but instead he locked in with us for the rest of the night and we made a 9 song album. Here it is “Paisley Dreams” by The Game and Big Hit executive produced by Hit-Boy.”

Paisley Dreams boasts guest appearances from fellow Los Angeles natives Dom Kennedy and TeeFlii. Listen here:

Here’s Why Hit-Boy Stands Out As Producer Of The Year At The 2024 Grammys

Here’s Why Hit-Boy Stands Out As Producer Of The Year At The 2024 Grammys

Hit-Boy is much more than a producer, he’s someone who lives, breathes, and sleeps music. Now, he’s celebrating a potential 4th Grammy win, being nominated for Producer of the Year (Non-Classical) at the upcoming Grammys.

His endless catalog of hit records include Jay Z and Kanye’s “N*ggas In Paris,” Travis Scott’s “SICKO MODE,” Kendrick Lamar’s “Backseat Freestyle,” Nipsey Hussle and Roddy Rich’s “Racks In The Middle,” and many more. But while the plaques and accolades are great, nothing means more to Hit-Boy than his newest endeavor: executive producing his father Big Hit’s debut album titled Truth Is In My Eyes.

The bond between Hit-Boy and his dad is undeniable, with the latter finally coming home from prison in May of this year. The crazy part is, Hit-Boy’s father was pretty much behind bars the entirety of Hit-Boy’s life. Prior to this 9-month stint, Big Hit was locked up for over 20 years.

In fact, Hit-Boy didn’t expect his father to be released this year, which makes the story even more compelling. Ever since then, Big Hit has been in studio recording, with Hit-Boy being one of the first producers to produce an entire project for his father.

On Saturday, December 16th, Hit-Boy and his father Big Hit celebrated their official album release with a pop-up store at Bottom Bunk on Melrose Ave. in Los Angeles. The entire city of Los Angeles was present to support, including fellow Los Angeles native Dom Kennedy and TeeFlii.

At one point, Hit-Boy even FaceTimes Snoop Dogg, who’s a standout feature on the 17-track project. Other guest appearances include The Alchemist, Musiq Soulchild, Benny The Butcher, Mozzy, and Dom Kennedy.

Downstairs, guests were able to shop exclusive merch such as limited-edition t-shirts and CDs. But it was the art exhibit upstairs that spoke volumes to the significance in this project.

One of the most inspiring pieces was the display of his actual jail cell that he spent 9 consecutive years in. With no light coming in, Big Hit was able to tap into his artistry by drawing on towels using sugar-free Kool-Aid — proving he’s an artist, not a criminal. There was also a small TV on the floor showing Big Hit doing push-ups, reminding folks to make the best out of their situation whatever that may be.

On the other side of this was a display showing Big Hit’s last meal before he was released, with a super basic sandwich inside. This was to show how inhumane the conditions were in prison, oftentimes being fed food that’s expired or old.

@themaskedmortal

The Grammy’s this year have some VERY interesting nominations, but one of my favorite categories is “producer of the year”👀🔥

♬ Surround Sound – JID

The beauty lies in the fact that the entire time Big Hit was locked up, his son was out here winning Grammys, making hits, and solidifying himself as a mainstay in the music industry. 2024’s Grammy nomination solidifies Hit-Boy as a game-changer, being the only nominee who produced all his albums by himself, as well as owns the rights to. This includes Nas’ King Disease III, which is nominated for Best Rap Album.

Hit-Boy’s work ethic speaks for itself. All his new releases are completely independent, putting his blood, sweat, and tears into each project and investing back into himself. In conjunction with his label Surf Club, Big Hit’s album is released on Jpay so those who are incarcerated can listen, with 15% of proceeds going to charity. The project was released exclusively on https://bighitnupid.com/ before hitting streaming services.

At the end of the day, Hit-Boy’s stance on owning his masters and giving music to his fans directly is one that does not go unnoticed. With the release of his father’s album, he shows audiences all around the world that they too can make their wildest dreams come true, without the need of a major label backing.

As always, Hit-Boy lets the music speak for itself. The Truth Is In My Eyes is told from the perspective of a father who was stripped of his freedom, and the chance to be present in his son’s life. It’s real storytelling and real lyricism, over production from one of the GOATs.

Big Hit Drops His Debut Album With Helps Of His Son Hit-Boy

Hit-Boy is one of the greatest hip-hop producers of our time. Someone who surely was a mentor to him during his come-up was his father, Big Hit. Unfortunately, he was not around his son as much as he would like. All in all, Big served nearly 30 years behind bars.

But, he is finally a free man now as of May 5th of this year. To celebrate his return to society, he had decided to come through with a special project. He and Hit-Boy have just released their album The Truth Is In My Eyes. It is exclusively available on Bandcamp for $10. Also, according to Surf Club, it will be accessible on Jpay tablets in a vast number of prisons.

Big Hit’s Debut Album Brings Forth Words Of Advice From Snoop Dogg

Usually, generational wealth comes in the form of parents working hard to create financial freedom for their children, bit on occasion, we also see grown people doing their part to help their mothers and fathers become more successful in creative industries and beyond. Multi-talent Hit-Boy and his father, Big Hit, are a prime example of this as the latter prepares to share his debut album. As HipHopDX reports, we saw Chauncey Hollis Sr. return from prison in the spring, and following that, he immediately took a trip to the studio with his son to get cracking on telling his story.

On Monday (December 4), the Magic producer shared a heartwarming video on Instagram that finds another hip-hop legend, Snoop Dogg, offering some wise words of advice to Big Hit. “As a father, your job is to mentor and give him information where one day, your son can teach you,” the “B**ch Please” artist said. “You in a position now to be taught. That ni**a can teach you how to stay out, how to get money, how to be the dope-a** rapper that you are,” the Doggfather further motivated his friend.

Big Hit’s Breakout Project Already Has Hip-Hop Excited

Hit-Boy’s excitement was obvious when he shared the sweet memory on Instagram, along with a touching caption. “This is the FIRST TIME ever in music you’ve seen a role reversal of this proportion. I’m helping my dad do something constructive with his time and giving him an outlet to express himself in a creative manner through music,” he declared before thanking the current Death Row leader.

For Snoop Dogg’s part, he pulled one of the most epic pranks of 2023 earlier this fall after announcing that he’s quitting weed. No one wanted to believe that the West Coast icon could give up kush so easily, and while he initially had us fooled, it all wound up being a marketing campaign for a smokeless grill company he’s collaborating with. Read more about that at the link below, and check back later for more hip-hop/pop culture news updates.
