UMG Reposts Kendrick Lamar Tour Dates Amidst Drake Legal Battle

Drake has seemingly made enemies on all sides. He was dissed by countless other superstars, and now he’s taking legal action against his own label, Universal Music Group. The rapper alleges that the record label boosted streams of Kendrick Lamar’s diss “Not Like Us.” Lamar is also part of the UMG family, and he recently announced the Grand National Tour with SZA. Instead of staying out of the Drake and Lamar conflict, the label decided to show their support for the latter via social media.

Kendrick Lamar released the tour dates via Instagram on December 3. The dates span North America, and will be a co-headline tour with his former TDE label mate, SZA. Fans everywhere flocked to the IG comment section to voice their excitement. UMG decided to get in on the fun, and reposted the cover image and the tour dates for Grand National. It makes sense that UMG would want to promote artists who net them major profit, and Lamar has had a banner year thanks to “Not Like Us.” Still, it’s easy to look at what the label is doing as a subtle slight to Drake.

Kendrick Lamar’s pgLang Has A Deal With UMG

Universal Music Group issued a statement shortly after Drake made his lawsuit plans public. The label denied any wrongdoing in the promotion of Lamar’s single. Furthermore, they criticized the 6 God and implied that Lamar was simply more popular with listeners. “We employ the highest ethical practices in our marketing and promotional campaigns,” UMG stated. “No amount of contrived and absurd legal arguments in this pre-action submission can mask the fact that fans choose the music they want to hear.”

The Grand National Tour has also garnered intrigue from Drake haters for its Toronto date. Lamar and SZA are set to perform in the 6 God’s hometown on June 14, which is just a few days short of Father’s Day. Lamar repeatedly bashed Drake for his parenting skills throughout their battle. He went as far as to allege that Drizzy has a daughter that he’s hiding from the world. Fans theorize that Lamar has chosen his Toronto date as an additional dig. Regardless of the intention, UMG appears to be onboard with the Compton icon.

Ben Baller Claims Kendrick Lamar’s New Album “GNX” Is Full Of Skips

Ben Baller is one of the most famous jewelers in hip hop. He had made chains and various pieces for some of the biggest rappers in the game. He is not, however, here for the current biggest rapper in the game. Ben Baller discussed Kendrick Lamar’s new album GNX on his podcast Cold As Ice with Ben Baller and JimmyBoi. The jeweler is Los Angeles based, and Lamar’s album is steeped in L.A. culture, but he did not care for it. Not even a little bit. Baller went as far as to say that he skipped every single track.

“I’ma keep it all the way a buck,” Ben Baller told his co-host. “I skipped every song, dog. I just can’t.” The jeweler made it clear that his disdain for GNX had nothing to do with the Drake vs. Kendrick Lamar feud. Baller is not choosing sides in the battle, he simply couldn’t get with Lamar’s new song. “It’s got nothing to do with f*cking Drake,” he asserted. “Don’t care. I won’t even talk about the lawsuit, I don’t wanna get into that part.” Ben Baller’s take has been met with scorn across the internet. Many accused him of not being part of hip hop culture. Others posited that he should support a fellow California creator.

Ben Baller Previously Designed Dot’s “Pop Out” Chain

Ben Baller’s negative opinion of GNX is a bit surprising, given his recent history with Kendrick Lamar. He designed the $60K cross that Kendrick Lamar wore during his iconic “Pop Out” concert on Juneteenth. He even hyped up the rapper via social media. “LA went crazy tonight,” Baller tweeted. “And Dot had my ice around his neck all night. $600K cross shuts it down. Nobody better and he knew who to call.” In an Instagram post, Ben Baller praised Lamar for putting together the “biggest” show in L.A.

Kendrick Lamar’s “Pop Out” concert was dedicated to bashing Drake, as evidenced by the multiple performances of the diss song “Not Like Us.” Ben Baller’s promotion of the event supports his latest statement regarding a lack of favoritism. He clearly isn’t team Drizzy. He just wanted a better batch of songs from Kung Fu Kenny, it seems. The jeweler did keep it all the way a buck.

Ski Mask The Slump God Clowns DJ Scheme In Heated Twitter Exchange

Ski Mask the Slump God and DJ Scheme go way back. The two artists have been working together since the 2010s, and they even had plans to release a collab album at one point. Sadly, there was seemingly a falling out between the two artists. They have not worked on a song together for a while, and DJ Scheme broke his silence as to why on December 3. The producer hopped on Twitter and alluded to Ski Mask the Slump God being someone he no longer wants to hear from.

It seems as though DJ Scheme broke his silence as a means of frustration with Ski Mask the Slump God. He claimed that people will “blame” everybody for their personal problems but themselves, and stated that he never wants to hear Ski Mask’s name again. The most alarming message, however, pertained to Ski Mask allegedly “destroying” himself. “I refuse to watch someone I love destroy themselves,” DJ Scheme wrote. “That’s the last thing I’ma say.” Except, it wasn’t. Ski Mask the Slump God trolled the the producer for bringing their personal issues into the public eye.

“Going to social media like a girl about homeboy beef,” Ski Mask wrote in a quote tweet. “You hilarious, clout up misses.” DJ Scheme fired back in the replies, urging the rapper to “tell them the truth” about the situation. During a 2024 interview with XXL, Ski Mask the Slump God admitted to going through various personal struggles in the lead up to his latest album. “I was just going through a lot of real-life sh*t, my friend,” he explained. “Other than my friends passing away and sht like that, dealing with that. My living situation, figuring out where I wanted to live.”

DJ Scheme was similarly incensed over the handling of Juice WRLD’s new album. Juice was a friend of both Scheme and Ski Mask’s, but the producer felt Benny Blanco botched the rollout for Juice’s fifth and final album. “How the hell u help put the album together and don’t post it once,” Scheme wrote. “Benny Shouldn’t Have Touched it.” Hopefully Ski Mask and DJ Scheme are able to settle their differences behind closed doors.

Drake Trolls Kendrick Lamar’s “Mustard!” Scream In Live Stream Chat

Drake is online. If there’s one thing his supporters and haters can agree upon, it’s that he spends a lot of time on social media. He’s constantly posting cryptic photos on Instagram, or dropping by live streams to promote his brand. Drake has likely given Kendrick Lamar’s GNX album a listen, but even if he hasn’t, he has seen the “Mustard!” memes. The scream, which appears on the smash single “tv off,” is a reference to the producer who made the beat and the beat for the Drake diss “Not Like Us.” Drake decided to fire back at both artists as a result.

Los Pollos TV went on stream to rant about the new Lamar album. He’s not a fan of GNX, and compared it unfavorably to Drizzy’s 2021 album, Certified Lover Boy. He claimed that going from Drake’s album to the new K. Dot release did not do the latter any favors. Drake apparently agreed. He dropped a comment trolling Lamar and Mustard’s latest collab. He also, seemingly, poked fun at Mustard’s size. “We need a donut emoji in the chat,” he wrote. “Custarrerddddd!.” Los Pollos TV pinned the comment for the rest of his stream.

Drake Rebranded The Scream As “Custard!”

Los Pollos TV has been a vocal Drake supporter for years. He was on the 6 God’s side throughout the Kendrick Lamar feud. He even got a chance to FaceTime with the rapper during a live stream at the end of November. Los Pollos TV has also supported Drake in the midst of the lawsuit the rapper plans to file against his record label, UMG. The YouTuber went as far as to claim that the label took down his harsh review of GNX. “I reacted to Kendrick’s new album, which hundreds of people have also and they’re up right now on YouTube,” he claimed. “UMG/Kendrick team manually removed my video because I didn’t like the album…”

There’s certainly no love lost between Drake and Mustard, either. The latter told the Los Angeles Times that he has no desire to work with the 6 God after the Kendrick Lamar feud. “I don’t think I want to make a song with that dude,” Mustard asserted. “[He’s] a strange guy.” This, of course, is ignoring the fact that he already has two hit singles with Drake, but we digress. The 6 God’s mean-spirited comment makes a lot of sense given the bitterness on both ends of the feud.

Cardi B Trash Talks Fans After They Criticize Old Song Snippet

Cardi B and Lauryn Hill both hit pay dirt with their debut albums. Different as their styles may be, both earned critical acclaim and Grammy wins for their fusions of pop and rap. Cardi even sampled Hill on the smash single “Be Careful.” Lauryn Hill, of course, never blessed fans with an official second album. Cardi B, oddly enough, is following the same trajectory. It’s been six years since Invasion of Privacy made Cardi a household name, and fans are still waiting on new music. It doesn’t seem to be going well.

A song snippet from 2019 made the rounds online Tuesday. The general response to the song was, uh, not positive. Fans piled on Cardi’s flow and the beat, claiming it was beneath the standard that she set on her 2018 debut. Cardi B did not respond positively to the criticism. She called detractors “dumb, stupid and overly opinionated” during an Instagram Live session. The rapper was clear about the snippet being from 2019. “Sometimes I listened to scrapped songs, or old songs [because] there might be two or three lines and I can use it on a new song,” she explained.

Cardi B Called Her Haters “Dumb” And “Slow”

Cardi B’s frustration spilled over onto Twitter. She claimed that the “overly opinionated” fans were the reason why she hasn’t released a second album yet. “This y y’all don’t get sh*t,” she wrote. This is a far cry from the optimistic Cardi B who took to Instagram Live in November. She claimed that she will bless fans with new music in 2015, and make moves on the business end of things as well. “My album will be out, my secret businesses will be out,” she asserted. “I can’t tell y’all what I’m working on,” holding her index finger to her mouth, [and] hopefully next year I get me a lil’ boyfriend.”

Many industry analysts have chastised Cardi B for repeatedly delaying her album. Joe Budden is one of the most notable examples. The podcast host took to social media shortly after Cardi’s aforementioned Instagram Live. “Wonder if I’ll get an apology for saying [blank] wasn’t dropping an album this year lol,” he tweeted. He didn’t name names, but many fans assumed he was talking about the “Bodak Yellow” star based on the timing.

50 Cent Playfully Trolls Tony Yayo While Throwing Shade At Drake

50 Cent poked fun at Tony Yayo in a new video on Instagram, trolling him during a recent trip on a private jet. In a clip captioned, “My life behind the scenes,” 50 catches Yayo listening to music on his headphones. “You get a pass if you listening to Kendrick sh*t,” 50 said. After pulling off Yayo’s headphones, he joked: “N***a, that’s Drake. That’s Drake you got in there.”

Fans in the comments section have been loving 50’s post. “Yayo the only man allowed to shout back at 50 cent,” one user joked with laughing emojis. Another celebrated 50’s legacy. “I used to not like you just because I was naive and from The west coast and the game dissed you. As I got older I realize you were the true OG and have done way more than game as ever done in his career. You a definition of a true OG,” they wrote.

The Drake trolling is surprising from 50, considering he’s previously defended the Toronto rapper in his feud against Kendrick Lamar. “I was telling him, it’s not him,” 50 Cent recalled during an interview with Billboard. “I’m listening on the outskirts, it’s not you. Don’t let yourself think that for a second. On some real sh*t, I said, ‘They said you lost, okay. Well what did you lose?’ What exactly did he lose if he got $300 something million on his last tour? You didn’t lose a motherf**king thing, man.”

Cam Newton Argues Lil Wayne Will Have A Better Chance Against Kendrick Lamar Than Drake

Cam Newton says he wants to see Lil Wayne take on Kendrick Lamar after feeling that Drake failed to match up with the “Not Like Us” rapper. Discussing the feud on the 4th & 1 Podcast, the former NFL star argued that Wayne would have a better chance against Lamar and wants to see that battle for the “appreciation of the art.”

“I’m a fan of Drake,” he said. “But after Kendrick and this beef… I look at Drake differently. I don’t think Drake has it in him to go to the places that he needs to go to attack Kendrick properly.” From there, he theorized that Wayne would have a better chance against Lamar. “He won’t be able to do that with Dwayne Carter,” he added. “I wanna see Lil’ Wayne… just for the appreciation of the art… because Drake ain’t capable.”

From there, Newton used Lamar’s headlining set at Super Bowl LIX to convince Wayne to drop a diss track. “You’re going to let this muthaf*cka come into your muthaf*ckin’ city o muthaf*ckin’ February,” Newton teased. “And you ain’t gonna drop nothing?” Wayne has complained about the NFL selecting Lamar for the New Orleans halftime show on several occasions. Performing at Lil Weezyana Fest, earlier this year, he described the opportunity as being “ripped away” from him. “I told myself I wanna be on stage at the Super Bowl in front of my mom and I worked my a** off to get that position,” he told the crowd. “It was ripped away from me but this moment right here… they can’t take this away from me.”

Cam Newton Wants Lil Wayne To Diss Kendrick Lamar

Newton’s comments come after Lamar dropped his sixth studio album, GNX, last month. He’s preparing to go on tour with SZA to promote the project, next year. Check out Cam Newton’s full discussion of Lil Wayne and Kendrick Lamar below.

CNN Likens Drake To A “Karen” While Discussing UMG Legal Battle

Drake stock is at an all time low in terms of public opinion. The hip hop world has all but rejected him after he announced plans to sue UMG and Spotify. The rapper alleges that the two companies worked in tandem to boost the streams of Kendrick Lamar’s diss record, “Not Like Us.” Drake supporters have tried to rationalize this legal action, but the bulk of hip hop fans have effectively dubbed him a hypocrite and a whiner. It got worse on Monday, December 2. CNN aired coverage of the rapper’s legal battle, and their anchors proceeded to dig into him as well.

CNN played footage from the “Not Like Us” music video. As the video package transitioned to the lead anchor, the network’s take on the situation became clear. The anchor, like so many people online, feels that Drake is being overly sensitive about losing the Lamar battle. “This may be the hip hop equivalent of asking to speak with a manager.” The notion of speaking with a manager is a joke that’s tied to the Karen meme that has taken off in the last decade. The CNN anchor didn’t say the name “Karen,” but in posing Drake as someone who asks for a manager, he’s indirectly making the parallel.

CNN Panelist Mocked Drake’s Decision To Sue His Label

This is not the first time a TV analyst has mocked Drake’s legal situation. Last week, Kendrick Lamar’s smash single “TV Off” played during the commercial break for TNT’s Inside the NBA. When the show returned, guest panelist Jalen Rose commented on the song choice. He alluded to the fact that Drake plans to sue over a Kendrick Lamar song, and quipped that TNT should try to avoid further legal action. “I don’t know if y’all should be playing that Kendrick,” Rose noted. “Y’all gonna get a lawsuit up here.” The same day the CNN clip aired, Drake was made Donkey of the Day by Charlamagne Tha God on the radio show The Breakfast Club.

“Stop acting like you haven’t been the beneficiary of record label tricknology,” Charlamagne asserted. “You being a whole h*e simply because you lost. Simply because Kendrick Lamar kicked yo a* lyrically, spiritually, mentally, and emotionally. And anybody acting like this is anything more than Drake’s feelings being hurt, you a he, too. An OV-He to be exact.” Drake’s case against UMG has been yet to formally launched, but it’s clear he has been deemed the guilty party in the court of public opinion. Tough.

Nicki Minaj Throws Shots At Spotify Amidst Drake’s UMG Legal Drama

Nicki Minaj was not messing around on Monday. The rapper got on Twitter shortly after it was announced that Spotify would be releasing its Wrapped data later than usual. Fans were perplexed by the delay, and many theorized it may have to do with accusations that Drake recently leveled at the streaming platform. The 6 God alleged that Spotify and UMG were in cahoots to boost Kendrick Lamar’s streaming numbers using bots. Evidently, Nicki Minaj is supporting Drake’s cause. She questioned why Spotify was taking so long with its data. She also alluded to the platform lying.

“Show me the data,” she wrote on Monday afternoon. The rapper followed this ominous request up with a more damning comment. “Spotify ain’t gotta lie,” she explained. These critiques were intriguing, given that Nicki Minaj received two notable honors via Spotify the same exact day. She was the most streamed female rapper in November with 355 million streams. Minaj was also the most streamed female rapper of 2024 with 4.1 billion streams and counting. QC Worldwide claims the rapper is on pace to close out 2024 year with 4.5 billion streams.

Nicki Minaj Bashed Spotify For Prioritizing Drake In 2018

This is not the first time Nicki Minaj has gone after Spotify. The rapper has a history of clashing with streaming platforms, whether it be lack of promotion or perceived preferential treatment of her peers. The latter proved to be the case in 2018, when Minaj blasted Spotify for de-prioritizing her music so it could promote, of all people, Drake. “Spotify put Drake’s face on every playlist but told me they’d have to teach me a lesson for playing my music 10 mins early on #QueenRadio,” she tweeted. “Even tho they’ve been giving away my music for free for years & I am one of the top Spotify artists of all time.”

Nicki Minaj’s relationship with Drake has been hit-and-miss over the years. The two have collaborated multiple times, but there have also been rumors of tension at different points in their career. Drake said as much on 2013’s “Tuscan Leather.” It appears as though both rappers are on the same page in 2024, however. They are presenting a united front against their critics and their combative peers. Based on the numbers, it seems to be working.

Boi-1da Thinks JAY-Z Slighted Drake With Super Bowl Halftime Show Pick

Boi-1da has been a crucial part of Drake’s sound since day one. He produced “Best I Ever Had” back in 2009, and dominated the production on the rapper’s 2015 classic mixtape If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late. He has never been particularly outspoken on social media, but the producer made his allegiance to Drake known on Monday. Boi-1da liked an Instagram reel comparing Drake’s upcoming sports plans to that of Kendrick Lamar’s. The reel in question theorized that Drake’s global success is threatening to both Dot and Roc Nation head, JAY-Z.

This theory has been floating around for months. DJ Akademiks and other Drake supporters have put forth the idea that JAY-Z felt slighted by Drake’s plan to perform at the World Cup in 2026. The World Cup is among the most viewed events in the world. It tops the list when it comes to sporting events. The World Cup pulls in 5 billion views compared to the Super Bowl. The American sporting event only pulls in an estimated 127 million. Boi-1da liked the Instagram reel claiming that JAY-Z chose Drake’s enemy, K. Dot, as a means of combating this clear disadvantage in terms of popularity.

Boi-1da Implies Drake Is Playing The Long Time

Drake has been talking up his World Cup involvement since September. The rapper sat down with FIFA President Gianni Infantino to discuss the impact the 2026 event will have. He also praised Toronto, his and Boi-1da’s hometown. “Canada as a whole, we have an incredible melting pot,” Drizzy stated. “But in Toronto, there are just so many different cultural experiences. So when the world comes, it’s going to be beautiful.”

Boi-1da has worked with JAY-Z and Kendrick Lamar in the past. He produced a song on Hov’s 2013 album, “FuckWithMeYouKnowIGotIt,” and Lamar’s classic 2015 single, “The Blacker the Berry.” He’s found tremendous success with both artists, but his allegiance remains with the 6 God. Boi-1da had three production credits on Drake’s last album, For All the Dogs (2023). He produced, the hit single “First Person Shooter,” which kicked off the Kendrick Lamar “Big Three” battle. “First Person Shooter” also contained the phrase “big as the Super Bowl,” to put an ironic bow on the whole thing.
