Diddy Withdraws Bail Appeal Amid Prison Stay

It’s no secret that Diddy is in for a long legal battle. The mogul was arrested back in September and hit with charges related to alleged sex trafficking and racketeering. If convicted, he could face a hefty prison sentence. His trial is expected to begin in May of next year. Since his arrest, he’s tried for release on bail multiple times, none of which have been successful. Now, it looks like he’s abandoned that mission altogether.

According to ABC News, a new court filing from yesterday (December 13) shows that he’s withdrawn his appeal of various decisions denying him bail. “Mr. Combs does not seek to appeal the district court’s denial of his renewed motion and hereby moves to voluntarily dismiss the appeal,” the filing reads in part. “Mr. Combs hereby states that (a) counsel has explained the effect of voluntary dismissal of the appeal; (b) he understands counsel’s explanation, and (c) he desires to withdraw and voluntarily dismiss the appeal.”

This latest development arrives shortly after an anonymous woman amended a lawsuit she filed against Diddy in October, adding new allegations against Jay-Z. She accuses both of them of sexually assaulting her at a party in 2000 when she was 13 years old. This week, she sat down with NBC News and acknowledged some inconsistencies in her story.

It also comes just days after Diddy was hit with three new lawsuits from individuals accusing him of sexual assault. His team has denied these allegations on his behalf. “These complaints are full of lies,” they told TMZ. “We will prove them false and seek sanctions against every unethical lawyer who filed fictional claims against him.”

Aubrey O’Day is one of many celebrities who held no silence when it came to the Diddy scandal, which we’ve been in full swing of for over a year now. Moreover, his federal case for alleged sex trafficking continues to develop alongside the mountains of civil lawsuits against him. O’Day is one of the most vocal famous figures when it comes to the aversion to Sean Combs and his alleged behavior, so it’s no surprise that she revels in his downfall from time to time. For example, she recently took to Twitter to share her brief thoughts on a key legal development.

“take that take that,” she tweeted in reference to both Diddy’s iconic ad-lib and to the court denying him bail yet again. He and his legal team fought incessantly to present their case to the judge, arguing that the prosecution meddled with the trial and argued faulty narratives to keep him behind bars. But at the end of the day, the court maintained its position, although we wouldn’t exactly express shock at the idea of yet another bond attempt before trial begins next May. As for other updates on Diddy, an attorney for the State recently announced his resignation, which could delay the trial or impact the case in other significant ways. Without more details in the future and a more set timeline, though, it’s impossible to tell what this will really imply. All we know is that Puff will stay behind bars for the time being, and Aubrey O’Day feels vindicated.

Diddy Blows Kisses To His Family At Bail Hearing Amid Prosecution & Defense’s Allegations

Diddy’s children – Quincy Jones, Justin, Christian “King,” Chance, and twins D’Lila and Jessie Combs – accompanied their grandmother Janice Combs to his bail hearing on Friday (November 22) in Manhattan federal court. He reportedly entered the courtroom at around 2PM local time, and blew kisses in the direction of his family in addition to smiles and waves. This is for Sean Combs’ third official attempt at securing bail in his federal case for alleged sex trafficking and racketeering. The proposed package totals $50 million, the same amount that the court already denied during the defense’s second attempt. However, this new bail package is reportedly more robust and also adds more regulations and requirements.

Still, the breadth of that bail package doesn’t take away from how Diddy’s prosecutors and his defense team have launched damning allegations at one another. Basically, both sides allege that the other seeks to derail the case, manipulate it for their own gain, and take advantage of public spectacle and pressure to do so. In the prosecution’s case, they claim that the Bad Boy mogul sought to tamper with witnesses and illegally exploit other resources at his disposal. In the defense’s case, they allege that prosecutors tampered with evidence and also provided misleading “proof” to build their case.

Both sides’ stories are all just allegations, though, and this bail hearing will probably result in a more direct and final answer for Diddy that hopefully errs on the side of caution and corrects or condemns any mistakes that both sides of the court might have made. Interestingly enough, though, his case continues to draw up more media attention from folks who hadn’t spoken on it already. Kendrick Lamar seemed to reference this scandal on his surprise new album, GNX.

Meanwhile, the lawyer representing many alleged Diddy victims recently faced some assault allegations of his own, so Tony Buzbee has a lot more on his plate now. Diddy’s Prosecutors Explain Why His Lawyers Are Wrong About His Bail Package

Diddy and his legal team have admitted to breaking some rules in their trial preparations and quest for bail, but they still stand by the latter as an absolute necessity. For those unaware, a hearing on his new bail motion (one of many) will take place today (Friday, November 22) in New York federal court. Ahead of this hearing, prosecutors issued a letter to Judge Arun Subramanian explaining why they think Sean Combs does not deserve bail and why the defense’s arguments in favor of bond are faulty. Specifically, they targeted defense attorneys’ claims that he should get bail because other powerful people with similar charges have gotten bail.

Diddy’s defense team’s arguments relate to the 2024 sex trafficking case of Michael Jeffries, who secured a $10 million bond with electronic home monitoring and other conditions. However, prosecutors argue that this case is different for a few different reasons. The first is that Jeffries only faced charges of violence and obstruction in relation to sex trafficking, whereas Combs faces similar charges in other areas plus an additional racketeering charge and the use of firearms.

The second reason that prosecutors offered as to why the defense’s arguments for Diddy’s bail are flawed is that Jeffries’ alleged conduct ended by 2015 at the very least. On the other hand, federal authorities allege that Combs’ alleged behavior persisted all the way through 2024, and that this allegedly present activity changes his circumstances. Finally, prosecutors argued that since the Bad Boy mogul is much younger with a criminal history, and since Jeffries is 80 years old with no criminal history, their cases can’t compare as closely as the defense team believes.

All in all, it will be interesting to see what the judge concludes concerning Diddy’s bail motion, and whether this latest attempt is any different from those prior. Defense lawyers also bashed the prosecution, though, so this isn’t just a one-sided allegation of bad behavior. Combs’ lawyers alleged that prosecutors altered the footage of him assaulting Cassie in a hotel and used misleading evidence to taint the narrative. A judge will have to find a balance between these dangerous and damning accusations from one side to another.

Diddy continues to face an uphill legal battle in his federal case for alleged sex trafficking, and the stakes are raising for both sides of the court. Moreover, this debacle concerns the defense’s attempts to secure bail, for which they recently filed their reply in support of said request according to journalist Meghann Cuniff, who provided a PDF of the legal filing. They allege that prosecutors altered the footage of the Bad Boy mogul assaulting Cassie in a hotel room for the first bail hearing, and that they used misleading evidence in support of their allegations. This relates to the prosecution’s claim that Sean Combs attempted to tamper with witnesses and manipulate the trial for himself.

As you can probably tell, the Diddy case now finds itself in a very dangerous situation. Basically, both sides of the court launched allegations at one another that could seriously jeopardize their credibility, legality, level of trust, and legitimacy. Still, the court has yet to make any significantly final judgements on any of these accusations, which will surely continue as the pre-trial and trial proceedings heat up in the near future.

For example, there has been a lot of recent debate around whether or not prosecutors and the court are doing everything in their power to ensure they don’t violate Diddy’s rights. One of these questions circles around some photos that folks allegedly took of trial notes that authorities seized during a raid on his jail cell. However, again, it’s very possible that the court will eventually place blame on either the prosecution or the defense, and that both entities can’t emerge unscathed at the same time. In other words, it seems to not be a question about whether the court will find someone at fault, but rather who.

In fact, a lot of folks wonder whether Diddy can even have a fair trial in the first place, given just how large the scale of this scandal ended up becoming. Maybe his celebrity will work out in his favor during trial, or maybe it will be his downfall. Diddy’s Lawyers Propose “Far More Robust” Bail Package In Latest Attempt At Getting Him Out Of Jail

Diddy’s legal team has put forth a “far more robust” offer in an attempt to get the disgraced Bad Boy mogul out on bail. According to the Associated Press, under the proposal, he would be subject to nonstop security monitoring and a complete restriction on his ability to communicate with anyone but his lawyers. The financial offering, however, remains unchanged at $50 million.

In the filing, they cite new evidence that allegedly “makes clear that the government’s case is thin.” It apparently refutes the state’s claim that the infamous 2016 video showing Combs physically assaulting Cassie at a hotel was part of one of his alleged “freak-offs.” The defense attorneys contextualize the video as “a minutes-long glimpse into a complex but decade-long consensual relationship” between the two of them.

Additionally, they continue to argue that the conditions Diddy is facing at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn are violating his constitutional rights. He’s been residing at the jail since his arrest in September for alleged trafficking and racketeering. He previously pleaded not guilty and has denied all of the allegations.

Azealia Banks has already made headlines for reacting to the bail proposal, theorizing an unfounded link between Diddy and Kamala Harris. “This n***a diddy is REALLY trying to get out on bail .. now that kamala has lost im f*cking scared that might actually happen,” she wrote on X (formerly Twitter). “Lol the lawyer said he got NEW EVIDENCE that the prosecutors case is thin…. mad vague and ominous. Diddy Gets Promising Bail Update After Court Allows Him To Seek A New Hearing

It looks like Diddy still has another chance to secure bail in his federal case alleging sex trafficking, racketeering, and transportation to engage in prostitution. According to journalist Meghann Cuniff, the 2nd Circuit Court of Appeals approved a motion for him from Thursday (October 24) to temporarily place his bail appeal on hold. This is so Sean Combs can look for a new bail hearing in United States District Court, and the judge-approved order reportedly supersedes the prosecution’s objections. As such, there is still another window through which he might find bond, although it’s been a very difficult process so far that doesn’t indicate it will get any easier.

Elsewhere, Diddy and his legal team sought to place a gag order in court, in order to remedy what they allege are leaks from the government to the press. “The defense believes that Exhibit A accomplishes the intended purposes of the requested relief,” their motion reportedly reads. “To ensure that leaks, as well as damaging and false information which are undermining Mr. Combs’ right to a fair trial stop, while including reciprocal restraints on the defense. […] Unfortunately, however, we are unable to submit Exhibit A as a joint proposal, because after extensive back and forth since the October 10 conference, the parties were unable to reach agreement on the order. We did narrow the disputes, however, and understand that most, but not all, of the language in Exhibit A is acceptable to the government.”

While the world continues to debate about – and react to – the Diddy case, his family publicly supported him through a new statement. His children expressed how “devastating” this process has been, pointing to the many accusations and assumptions against the Combs family that they characterize as “absurdity.” Overall, they want their father to come home and believe that he will be proven to be innocent when it comes to his alleged crimes.

Others, though, are not so quick to throw their support behind Diddy despite past links. For example, Jadakiss recently praised his parties, but also made it clear that said admiration is for the parties he went to, which he says didn’t reflect the alleged crimes at hand. Diddy Faces More Obstacles In His Bid For Bail Thanks To Scathing Filing From Prosecutors

While Diddy was denied bond three times so far in his federal case for alleged sex trafficking charges and more, he still has a shot. Specifically, it’s with a three-judge panel at the appeals court that will hear his arguments in his defense on November 4. Still, prosecutors want to make this as unlikely as possible. They recently filed an opposing motion on Wednesday (October 16) asking the appeals court to uphold Judge Andrew Carter’s decision to deny Sean Combs bail. In addition, they claimed that “clear and convincing evidence” proves why Combs is allegedly a danger to possible witnesses.

“In arguing that evidence of obstruction was ‘thin’ and that the Government ‘provided no basis to believe’ that Combs tampered with witnesses, Combs primarily quibbles with the strength of the Government’s evidence that Combs made inappropriate contact with Government witnesses,” prosecutors expressed concerning Diddy. “But Combs ignores altogether the serious and substantial allegations of obstruction, bribery and witness tampering charged in the Indictment as part Combs’ pattern of racketeering activity that amply supported Judge Carter’s determination. […] Combs’ longstanding and sophisticated methods of obstructing justice and silencing witnesses more than established his dangerousness.”

Also, prosecutors alleged that Diddy used “methodical and sophisticated means to silence and intimidate witnesses,” per the supposed results of their investigation and Judge Carter’s ruling. They claimed that he uses “loyal intermediaries” to see the intimidation through via violence, blackmail, and his financial power, pointing to this as the reason why they believe he should not secure bail. They also brought up a specific alleged example of the Bad Boy mogul texting an alleged victim. Other alleged instances of this came up in other motions and lawsuits.

Meanwhile, another legal dispute concerns whether or not Diddy laced baby oil with drugs, an unverified allegation that emerged in civil lawsuits but hasn’t been confirmed or proven by federal authorities or any other party. When federal officials raided his homes, they made no note of laced baby oil upon discovering 1,000 bottles of it. On November 4, it seems like we will know for sure whether the appeals court agrees with this latest filing from the prosecution.

50 Cent says that he expects Diddy to get out on bail after his next court hearing and advised his followers to keep their same energy when he’s not behind bars. He made the statement in a since-deleted post on Instagram caught by DJ Akademiks. “Diddy gonna make bail his next court date, so all this sh*t y’all been saying, keep the same energy,” 50 wrote. “Don’t you even try to take that post down!”

Authorities first arrested Diddy on charges of alleged sex trafficking and racketeering in New York, last month. A judge denied his initial request to get out on bail shortly afterward, and in turn, he resides at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn.

The trolling from 50 Cent isn’t limited to just social media. He recently announced that Netflix is producing his docuseries about the allegations surrounding Diddy. “This is a story with significant human impact. Diddy Puts Together A New Legal Team Following Third Bail Attempt

Diddy has been denied bail twice, but that’s not going to stop him from finding a solution. Previously, the embattled mogul had his attorney offer up $50,000,000 which included the sales of his and his mother’s homes in Miami. In that same bail package was limited travel between Florida and New York for essential matters. After shutting down that proposal, Diddy and his legal team appealed and did so with a second option. He was willing to sacrifice not having any female visitors besides his family members and other vital contacts such as property caretakers.

There would also be no contact with witnesses, co-conspirators, daily logs would be taken of visitors each day, and he would do daily drug tests. The court voted no on that, so what does Diddy have up his sleeve this time? Well, according to a report from TMZ, he is adding to new pieces to what he hopes will be the defense team to get him out of jail before trial. One of those fresh faces is Anthony Ricco, who we previously reported on after the Bad Boy Records boss filed another appeal for Judge Andrew Carter’s decision to deny their requests for a release under any circumstance.

On top of Ricco (who is a top-tier trial lawyer in the U.S.), Alexandra Shapiro is also onboard. TMZ hears that she is a real force as far as appellate lawyers go. Given how stingy the judge has been throughout the early stages of this case, this may not work out in Diddy’s favor.
