August Alsina Responds To Akbar V’s Homophobic Rant

August Alsina has been trending on the internet lately thanks to his conversation with Nick Cannon and his panel on Counsel Culture. One of the interviewers asked the R&B artist about his “love for another man” and how “opening [his] heart” has helped him with that. While answering the question, the New Orleans, Louisiana native said that God essentially aided him in seeing the light, so to speak. “I always say that the greatest gift that God could have ever given me was exposure. To expose me to so many different kinds of people, places, things”. This ruffled the feathers of reality TV star Akbar V who is a very firm believer and follower of what the Bible says.

She went on several rants about August Alsina yesterday and she essentially called him out for lying that God would help him discover his homosexuality. “He gives us a choice… How did God do this and he says it’s a sin? So does that mean God is a liar?”, she angrily asked. Later, she would go on to question who this God is for August because “it’s only one true living God”. She did also clarify at one point that she’s not against him nor judging his love for another male. V is more so irked by how he came to this realization. “This is not to down August Alsina. I’m not against my brother; I’m basically saying God hasn’t told him that because God doesn’t like sin… and if we are sinning, God is not a God who promotes sin then tells us not to sin… I am praying for my brother and hope one day he finds the truth about the true living God”.

After all of this he is now clapping back and in a slick way may we add. According to a repost from The Shade Room, Alsina was promoting his new fragrance called “Evolutionary”. While talking about his product he says it has some unique powers. To be exact it’s a “repellent to negative energy”. He even says its “really become an aromatherapy to me somehow”. Additionally, his caption surely had Akbar V’s name written all over it as well. “M E S S A G E 🗒 !! .. there’s a lot more that could be said, but I don’t want to interrupt the Grace of God over life that speaks the loudest. Stay well! ❤️‍🩹”. All of this back-and-forth has had a lot of people debating and we are sure it’s going to continue at least for another day or two.

What are your thoughts on August Alsina’s supposed response to Akbar V calling him out? Whose side are you in this back-and-forth, and why? Who crossed the line more? August Alsina Discusses His Refusal to Be Labeled: “Love is Much More Complex”

august

August Alsina, the R&B singer known for his soulful tracks and headline-making personal life, recently opened up about his sexuality and views on love during an appearance on Nick Cannon’s “Counsel Culture” podcast. This candid conversation comes after Alsina introduced the world to a man who he said taught him about “loving and healing” during the season finale of VH1’s The Surreal Life in 2022.

In his discussion with Cannon, Alsina, who has always been private about his personal life, took the opportunity to share his perspective on love, identity, and the power of exposure. When asked about his decision to open his heart to another man, the “No Love” singer emphasized that his journey of love is not something he actively controls, but rather something guided by a higher power.

“It’s not even me that’s opening my heart,” Alsina explained. “It’s that power that’s higher than myself. I always say that the greatest gift that God could have ever given me was exposure. To expose me to so many different kinds of people, places, things.” He expressed gratitude for the diversity of experiences and relationships that have shaped him, rejecting the need to label his sexuality in conventional terms.

Alsina further elaborated on his refusal to be confined by traditional labels, saying, “When people want you to define yourself as whether you’re gay, straight, bisexual, or whatever it is you was just talking about, love is much more complex than that and has much more depth. So for me, I’m just the kind of person that, because love is a language, I’m fluent in love when it speaks to me.”

This philosophy on love and relationships echoes Alsina’s past openness about his personal life, including his revelation in 2020 that he was in a relationship with Jada Pinkett Smith. In a now-famous interview with Complex, Alsina revealed that Will Smith had given him his “blessing” to pursue the relationship, as the Smiths were in an open marriage at the time. Jada later confirmed the relationship during a Red Table Talk episode, describing the period as a time of great emotional pain and healing for her.

Alsina also addressed the public fallout from his relationship with Jada in his 2022 song “Shake the World,” where he referenced the controversy with lyrics like, “I heard I was canceled / Well, let’s speak on that.” He also alluded to the infamous elevator incident involving Beyoncé and Jay-Z, using it as a metaphor for the turmoil that ensued after his involvement with one of Hollywood’s most famous couples.

August Alsina’s “Party” From His “Myself” Album Is The Perfect Weekend Anthem

Another weekend is quickly coming to a close, but that doesn’t mean you can’t still find time to “Party.” On Friday (March 10), August Alsina shared his 10-track Myself album, and the aforementioned title is quickly emerging as a fan favourite. Other popular songs include the previously released titular effort, as well as “Lied to You” and “Weekdays” featuring Zu and Deeno.

“I’ve gone from a young boy to a man… A man who’s wiser… smarter… stronger because of my experiences and adversities I’ve faced. And a man whose more resilient,” the 30-year-old said of his project. Though he’s obviously gone through immeasurable growth over the past few years, that doesn’t mean Alsina isn’t ready to “Party” every now and then.

August Alsina is Ready to “Party”

“Middle of the week, you f*ckin’ with me, all night / Love you ’til it hurt, now you late for work, it’s alright,” his voice sensually croons on the pre-chorus. “Thursday, even then, on the grind again, on it / I’ll be back to beat it in the mornin’.” To produce the groovy song, Alsina recruited Happie, Losaddos, and The Exclusives.

Other songs from his Myself album that seem to be getting plenty of love on streamers are “Never Fold,” “Same,” and “August.” Aside from the dual guest feature on his “Weekdays” single, the multi-talent also worked with 4ayem on “Friends” and Layton Freene for the closing track, “On Me.” The short and sweet project marks Alsina’s first since 2020’s The Product III: stateofEMERGEncy. On that, he worked with names like Darrel Walls, Tink, Yo Gotti, Lil Wayne, and Juicy J.

Stream August Alsina’s “Party” on Spotify or Apple Music below. Afterward, check out the singer’s Myself album here if you haven’t already. For those of you in search of new release recommendations, you can find them on our R&B Season playlist.

Quotable Lyrics:

Middle of the week, you f*ckin’ with me, all night
Love you ’til it hurt, now you late for work, it’s alright
Thursday, even then, on the grind again, on it
I’ll be back to beat it in the mornin’

August Alsina Self-Reflects On New Album “Myself”

It’s been nearly three years since August Alsina released a studio album, but the wait is finally over. On Friday, the “I Luv This Shit” singer dropped Myself, showcasing a more personal approach to his typically high-energy hits. Leading up to the release of Alsina’s long-due album, the 30-year-old teased fans with a few tracks earlier this year.

The first song of the project, also titled “Myself,” dropped in January and kicked off the tone for the intimate reflection revealed throughout the album. He added another preview in February with “Weekdays,” which features Zu and Deeno. As a more upbeat number to this 10-track project, this catchy and anthem-like song further self-reflects on the New Orlean rapper’s relentless hustling mentality.

August Alsina Showcases “Resilience” With “Myself”

The entirety of Myself unfolded on Friday (March 10), with tracks like “Lied to You, “August,” and “Party” adding on to the previously released teasers. Alsina joins forces with 4ayem for the soft number “Friends,” where he puts his own spin on the iconic nursery rhyme that Jibbs mashed up in 2006 on “Chain Hang Low.” In “On Me,” the singer collaborates with Layton Greene, resulting in a seductive track that beautifully fuses together both of their melodic voices.

All in all, this new album is an ode to independent hustlers who don’t need anyone else to flourish. From calling out fake friends to hinting at world domination, Alsina isn’t shy of sharing the self-sufficient nature that has allowed him to overcome hardships. When the Def Jams Recording artist revealed the release of Myself earlier this week, he added a promo video to the post explaining his inspiration for the project.

“I’ve gone from a young boy to a man… A man who’s wiser… smarter… stronger because of my experiences and adversities I’ve faced. And a man whose more resilient,” Alsina reflects. Stream Myself on DSPs below. For more news on hip-hop and pop culture, be sure to check out HNHH.

Tory Lanez On August Alsina Altercation: “I Don’t Have A Problem With Anybody”

The Breakfast Club tried to get to the bottom of Tory Lanez-August Alsina altercation that spread across the Internet earlier this month.

The Canadian rapper appeared on the radio show where DJ Envy and Angela Yee grilled him on the alleged assault against August Alsina.

“Now, recently, you got into an alleged altercation with an R&B singer, August Alsina,” Envy said, seemingly making Lanez uncomfortable.

“Look, man, like I said, I’m just here to answer about the album,” he said with an awkward chuckle. Envy pried even further by mentioning the video of Alsina completely ignoring Lanez’s attempt to shake hands.

Yee brought up the possible police investigation into the case, though Tory said he “couldn’t tell you.” “Don’t know what you know” he added.

“I’m just here for the album and positivity,” he continued. “I’m always here to answer all the questions and stuff,” he said, adding that he’s focused on preaching positivity. “Everything that’s been going on in my life and the things going on around me, I just try to keep positive. No disrespect, I’m just not here to talk about it.”

Still, Envy managed to squeeze in one final question about the video of Alsina dismissing Lanez’s handshake. Envy asked if Tory was aware if there was any friction between them prior to the incident. Interestingly enough, Tory revealed that he previously did songwriting for August Alsina in his collaboration with Meek Mill.

“Just generally speaking, regardless, I don’t have a problem with anybody. I wrote for him before this,” he said. “It’s not one of those.”

Tory Lanez Calls “Sorry 4 What” Project “A Real Body Of Work”

One artist who doesn’t hesitate to release a musical undertaking, in some form or another, is Tory Lanez. The multi-hyphenated artist is known for delivering EPs, mixtapes, albums, two-packs, and just about any other collection of tracks that show his versatility. The singer-rapper-producer has been grinding heavily, especially within these last few years as he’s faced pushback due to his legal woes.

Whether he was facing accusations of assaulting a Love & Hip Hop Miami star, captivating attention after Megan Thee Stallion named him as the person who shot her, or reportedly being removed from a tour due to an alleged attack on August Alsina, Lanez has claimed innocence and attempted to shift focus back to his music.

Tory Lanez Allegedly Punched August Alsina In The Face At A Show In Chicago

Over the weekend, R&B singer August Alsina shared bloodied photos of himself, accusing Tory Lanez of attacking him at a show in Chicago. He said that Tory punched him in the face after he declined to dap up the other singer, confronting him while backed up by eight “oversized” bodyguards. In August’s post, he accused Tory of a “broken ego” and stated his intentions to keep the news off the internet, but that he had to post about it because Tory was already spreading rumors to gossip blogs.

Now, according to Rolling Stone, Los Angeles prosecutors are looking into the alleged assault, saying, “We are aware of the allegations that the defendant attacked artist August Alsina and are investigating these claims. The allegations are serious and will be thoroughly examined.” Although the incident took place in Chicago, LA prosecutors are keen on finding any additional information that could help their assault case against Tory Lanez in the Megan Thee Stallion shooting. The trial was delayed last week as Tory’s lawyer is tied up with other cases.

The Chicago police department confirmed that its officers are investigating the incident at the concert, confirming an altercation between two 30-year-old men at the Arie Crown Theatre in which one was “punched in the face” by the other Saturday night (September 17).

August Alsina Says He Was Assaulted by Tory Lanez: ‘4’11 Sized Leprechaun Ran Down on Me'

Moments got heated between Tory Lanez and August Alsina backstage at a concert in Chicago. Alsina hit Instagram and revealed that he was on the receiving end of a beat down by Lanez and his bodyguards. The show is a part of the Fall Back in Love Comedy & Music Jam created by Rip Micheals. Speaking with TMZ, Micheals revealed that he removed Lanez from future dates.

According to Micheals, Alsina didn’t want to pretend to be friendly with Lanez after online trash-talking. Lanez would eventually follow Alsina outside with his security. Micheals would try to smooth the moment over, and when Alsina turned around, Lanez would punch him in the face.

Micheals revealed Alsina went to urgent care and would miss the following night of the tour in New York City.

In the early parts of Sunday, rumors floated that Lanez knocked out the singer. By the afternoon, it was officially confirmed as Alsina wrote a message to his fans.

“As I’m exiting the building after the show last night, A 4’11 sized leprechaun ran down on me w/ 8 oversized security nigxas, who I greeted each individually upon their walk up as they tried to press me,” Alsina wrote. “Whole time, I’m one deep, No security.”

He added, “Tory continues to ask w/ a broken ego why I didn’t dap him up, I go on to tell him.. I was a fan of him and didn’t understand him speaking on my business publicly In the past, because I don’t know him or ever met him until last night. So when he spoke it caught me off guard because of his past actions, i assumed he didn’t like me, that’s all.”

Alsina states he was sucker punched by Lanez. “There was never a ‘fight’! Simply an Assault. Dude has no real friends, an is on a crash out mission.”

During the Instagram post, Alsina also accused Lanez of smoking a cocaine-laced blunt.
