DJ Vlad Calls Lil Durk “Stupid” After Rapper’s Murder-For-Hire Charge

DJ Vlad is a polarizing figure in the hip hop. Like Adam22, Vlad is widely criticized for exploiting the culture, and its accompanying violence, for online engagement. This has not stopped him, of course, from covering hip hop feuds and legal cases involving rappers. Lil Durk is a prime example of DJ Vlad subject matter. The rapper was arrested and charged with murder-for-hire in Florida. The rapper is alleged to have been involved in an attempt on Quando Rondo’s life. And DJ Vlad can’t believe it.

DJ Vlad took to Twitter following Durk’s arrest, and proceeded to blast the rapper for his alleged actions. He called the rapper “stupid” for going about the alleged hit in such an easily traceable manner. “Lil Durk was actually stupid enough to send 5 guys on a plane to kill Quando Rondo,” DJ Vlad wrote. “They ended up killing the wrong person. And now, all 6 of them are facing life in prison or even the death penalty.” DJ Vlad went on to note that he never envisioned a world in which people would travel to allegedly kill their target.

DJ Vlad Does Not Have Sympathy For Lil Durk

“In multiple interviews, I’ve said that nobody would get on a plane to kill you,” DJ Vlad noted. “I said this because there would be so much evidence that they’re guaranteeing prison. Today, I was proven wrong.” This is not the first time that DJ Vlad has run afoul of Lil Durk and his fans. Durk actually dissed Vlad on the song “Golden Cut.” It was unclear what the issue was between the two men, but DJ Akademiks set the record straight during a 2023 interview. Ak recounted a request that Lil Durk made after he gave an interview to DJ Vlad, but Vlad reportedly ignored it.

“[Durk] said the reason is: ‘I did an interview with Vlad and there was a part of the interview I mentioned the upcoming birth of my child,’” Akademiks stated. And that was with India and he apparently had asked you to take it out… Interview comes out and that part wasn’t taken out.” DJ Vlad clarified that there was a miscommunication between him and his editing team. He then took the opportunity to apologize to Durk and his partner regarding the mistake. It doesn’t sound like there will be any apologizes issued over this latest insult, though.

Lil Durk Allegedly Tried To Escape To Italy Before Arrest

News of federal authorities’ arrest of Lil Durk for alleged murder-for-hire shocked the hip-hop world today (Friday, October 25), as fans everywhere are reacting to this development and keeping their eyes out for more updates. One new alleged detail about this situation comes from an Associated Press (AP) report about FBI agent Sarah Corcoran’s affidavit and other additional federal court records. Moreover, they allege that the Chicago MC acted quickly after authorities arrested five alleged OTF members in the city. Allegedly, he booked two flights from South Florida to Switzerland and Dubai, and additionally booked a private flight to Italy to allegedly attempt to escape the country.

However, Lil Durk was arrested before he could reportedly board that last alleged flight, and it’s unclear what the motive behind the alleged Dubai and Switzerland flights are or were. U.S. Marshals apprehended him in Florida on federal conspiracy charges alleging that he paid for a hit on Quando Rondo as revenge for the murder of King Von. Federal agent Sarah Corcoran reportedly claimed in her affidavit that the group practices “violence, including murder and assault, at the direction of [Lil Durk] and to maintain their status in OTF.” This is what prosecutors allege led to the hit on Quando Rondo and the death of Lul Pab. On August 18, 2022, five alleged OTF affiliates allegedly flew from Chicago to San Diego, eventually making their way to Los Angeles via car.

“Don’t book no flights under no names involved wit me,” Durk allegedly texted a colleague, which prosecutors claim is because the five individuals allegedly purchased plane tickets and rental cars with funs he provided. In response to the debacle, Broadview Mayor Katrina Thompson took to social media today to announce that she’s cut ties with Durk’s foundation and revoked his key. “While the American system of justice grants everyone the presumption of innocence until proven guilty in a court of law, in the village of Broadview, the court of public opinion of residents has even higher moral and ethical standards of behavior,” her statement reads in part. “And our public partners must also reflect the same uncompromising standards demanded by our residents.”

Yesterday (October 24), Lil Durk was arrested in Broward County, FL for alleged murder-for-hire. According to his lawyers Brian Bieber and Alek Ubieta, he’s scheduled to appear in federal court in Fort Lauderdale at some point today. Now, however, DJ Akademiks reports that he’s been transferred out of Broward County Jail. In a Tweet, Ak explains that he’s most likely being moved to a California jail.

Durk’s arrest happened just a few hours after five alleged OTF affiliates were arrested for similar charges. Authorities believe they’re allegedly connected to the murder of Saviay’a “Lul Pab” Robinson, Quando Rondo’s cousin. Quando Rondo and Lul Pab were victims of a shooting at an LA gas station in 2022. Many fans looked forward to the release of his new album Deep Thoughts about halfway through the month, especially after confusion surrounding a fake Love Songs 4 The Streets 3 tracklist that surfaced online. Sadly, the album faced a delay, but the Chicago rapper had updated fans yesterday (Thursday, October 24) on its status. He announced on Instagram that the project will release on November 22… Mere hours before his arrest. And so, the bad luck continued.

If you weren’t already aware, U.S. Marshals arrested Lil Durk in Florida and charged him with alleged murder-for-hire. They transported him to the Broward County Correctional Facility according to XXL and DJ Akademiks, a development that surged after a California indictment referenced him. The prosecution’s story goes that Smurk allegedly hired five men with ties to his OTF crew to carry out a hit on Quando Rondo.
