Ariana Grande & Mac Miller’s “The Way” Celebrates 10 Years, Singer Pays Tribute To Late Rapper

2023 will mark the five-year anniversary of Mac Miller’s untimely passing, and much of the music community still hasn’t fully processed the rapper’s death. Among those chiefly upset by his fatal overdose include ex-girlfriend Ariana Grande, who was on track to marry comedian Pete Davidson at the time. Prior to that relationship, she and the late star were together romantically from 2016 to 2018 after bonding throughout years of friendship.

After Miller’s passing, the sweetener songstress and her Staten Island-born beau went their separate ways. He’s presently spending time with Bodies Bodies Bodies co-star Chase Sui Wonders, while Grande has moved on to marry Dalton Gomez, a real estate agent whose life is mostly out of the spotlight. Even though she’s now with another, the former Nickelodeon star continues to make it obvious that there will always be room in her heart for her fallen former lover.

Revisit Ariana Grande and Mac Miller’s Undeniable Chemistry in “The Way” Visual

On Saturday (March 25), the duo’s 2013 collaboration, “The Way” celebrated its 10th birthday. Though Miller isn’t here to commemorate the special moment himself, Grande did her part to uphold his legacy by posting about their joint effort on her Instagram Story. “I love you,” she wrote at the bottom of the screen in tiny white font when sharing the song’s accompanying visual this past weekend.

As DailyMail notes, the vocalist did her part to make sure that her strong feelings for Miller were clearly felt online. In the comment section of the same video, she once again wrote, “I love you.” Throughout the years, the ponytail princess has often shared subtle but heartfelt tributes to her ex, who has gone on to inspire some of her most popular releases, such as “Thank U, Next.” While she continues to remember their love in a positive light, others, such as Kanye West, have tried to ruin that narrative by insisting Pete was sending photos of him and Ariana Grande in bed together to her ex following their split, seemingly resulting in his overdose. Read what the pop star’s brother had to say about that here, and check back later for more pop culture news updates.

Diddy Honors Biggie Smalls On Anniversary Of His Passing

It’s been 26 years to the day since hip-hop lost one of its most impactful, resonant, and powerful voices. While the tragedy of his passing isn’t lost on anyone, millions around the world continue to keep The Notorious B.I.G. alive. For example, Diddy made an Instagram post on Thursday (March 9) honoring Biggie on the anniversary of his tragic death in Los Angeles. “There will NEVER be another,” Puff wrote as a caption to a video of a B.I.G. interview. “The GREATEST RAPPER OF ALL TIME. Today we celebrate and honor you king. Love and miss you!!”

In that clip, the legendary MC spoke on maintaining his originality, freshness, and unique voice as an artist. “Don’t be the fool to just sit back and do it because somebody else is doing it,” the Brooklyn native expressed. “Because those of you who do just gon’ follow in somebody else’s footsteps, and you just gon’ be a shadow. Who wanna be a shadow for the rest of their life, you know what I’m saying? If you got a lil’ something’ that you know how to do, progress that and keep trying. I mean, God knows what could happen. That’s what I did. Just kept on walking, just happened to get to the right ends.”

Diddy’s Tribute To Biggie Smalls On Anniversary Of His Tragic Loss

Most recently, Nas spoke on how Biggie influenced his classic album It Was Written, shortly before the anniversary of his death arrived. “Biggie made it different, where you can’t just be the hot dude that they liked from New York to Connecticut to Virginia,” he expressed. “You got to hit the mainstream. You got to touch the world.” Elsewhere in the interview, he said that they inspired each other in many different ways. For example, Nas working with Dr. Dre possibly opened up the doors for Biggie to work with Bone Thugs-N-Harmony.

Meanwhile, this year will also mark what would’ve been Big’s 51st birthday in May. Last year, Lil’ Kim penned an inspiring message for his 50th. “He was more than just a rapper more than an artist; he was an educator, he was a poet, obviously a writer. He was a prophet, he was here to do more than just make some songs or record a couple of albums, which is at the end of the day, that’s what he did. And he did way more than that in his spare time.” Join us in honoring Biggie Smalls with your favorite tracks, albums, or moments in the comments, and if you don’t know, now you know.

Dr. Dre’s Debut Album “The Chronic” Is Back On Streaming Services

30 years after the release of Dr. Dre’s debut album, fans can enjoy it in its entirety, once again.

Dr. Dre’s The Chronic became an enigmatic piece of work throughout the streaming era. At one point, fans could only find the album on Apple Music. In 2020, it finally hit all streaming services in time for 4/20. However, it vanished from streamers later on.

Today, Dre and Interscope, the album’s original distributor, teamed up to re-release the project on DSPs on Feb. 1st to commemorate the 30th anniversary. Additionally, Interscope and Dre dropped a new merch collection to celebrate the milestone.

“I am thrilled to bring the Chronic home to its original distribution partner, Interscope Records. Working alongside my longtime colleagues, Steve Berman and John Janick, to re-release the album and make it available to fans all over the world is a full circle moment for me,” said the iconic producer.

The album initially disappeared from streaming services following Snoop Dogg’s acquisition of Death Row Records. He claimed that the album was officially under Death Row, which Dre’s lawyer later clarified wasn’t exactly true.

Nonetheless, The Chronic became an integral part of hip-hop’s history since its release. It marked Dre’s official beginning as a solo artist following the success of N.W.A. Additionally, it also helped catapult Snoop Dogg’s career.

“Dr. Dre is without a doubt one of the most iconic and groundbreaking artists in the modern era,” said Steve Berman, Vice Chairman of Interscope Geffen A&M. “Dre’s solo career all started with the The Chronic, one of the most celebrated recordings of all time. To have this album at Interscope once again where we work with Dre and his amazing team at Aftermath day in and day out is incredibly gratifying for me personally and all of us at Interscope.”

A$AP Rocky Marks 10 Years Of “LONG.LIVE.A$AP” With “Angels” Alternate Video

It’s been nearly five years since A$AP Rocky delivered his Testing album, and while fans are undeniably eager for new music from the father of one, the hiatus has given us plenty of time to celebrate the rest of his discography.

Today (January 15), the New Yorker’s debut project, LONG.LIVE.A$AP marks its 10-year anniversary. Complete with hit songs like “F**kin’ Problems” with Drake, 2 Chainz, and Kendrick Lamar and “Hell” featuring Santigold, the effort has been in streaming rotation since its initial debut.

Another fan favourite from the tracklist is “Angels,” which arrived later on the deluxe cut. At the time it came with a music video, but to celebrate a decade of success, Rocky dropped off an alternate visual for audiences on Sunday afternoon.

As HipHopNMore reports, the clip finds the 33-year-old linking up with friends in NYC. The late A$AP Yams is prominently featured in some never-before-seen footage.

Of course, the new release takes inspiration from the original, though this version is shorter. In his usual fashion, Rakim Mayers made a few noteworthy changes to keep things fresh to help his audience celebrate.

Throughout “Angels,” Rocky chiefly raps about his violent and drug-filled childhood before his inevitable rise to fame. He gets vulnerable about selling marijuana and crack cocaine at a young age and recruiting other children to aid him in his illegal endeavours.

His new visual has been sitting well with fans, with many of them singing its praises in the comment section. “10 years later and still fresh,” one person wrote. “Rocky a real trendsetter.”

Others added, “This song is so timeless,” and “Give this man a Lifetime Achievement Award for visuals while he’s alive please!”

Check out the alternate “Angels” video on YouTube above, and check back later for more hip-hop news updates.
