Earlier this week, Angela Simmons took to social media to share some fun and flirty photos from a recent trip to St. Lucia. Needless to say, nobody is complaining. In the photos, the shoe designer poses in a strappy black swimsuit, and her tropical vacation destination is certainly breathtaking. The view that’s captivated fans the most, however, is Simmons and her natural curves.
Her comments section is flooded with fans praising her for her look, and for keeping it real. “I love that she promotes having a natural body & doesn’t always feel the need to filter herself!” one Instagram commenter writes. “She gave me so much confidence with my body because we’re built similar! I will forever love this Queen!” another says alongside a series of fire emojis.
Clearly, Simmons has managed to land herself on nearly everyone’s summer vision board. She didn’t secure her bikini-ready bod without a lot of hard work, however. Late last year, she showed off the results of a month-long fitness challenge, twerking on the beach in a shimmering white two piece. “Celebrating the finish line !!! 30 days completed #HeSaidICouldPostThis,” she captioned the clip, referencing her partner Yo Gotti. On top of working out, eating clean, and abstaining from alcohol, Simmons revealed that she was focused on self-love and self-care throughout her journey.
Aside from wowing followers with the results of her wellness challenge, Simmons also turned heads at a handful of Yo Gotti’s shows towards the end of 2023. She even popped out onstage while he performed his iconic 2016 The Art Of Hustle cut “Down In the DM.” Fittingly, the track was inspired by their own love story. Earlier this month, Yo Gotti and Angela Simmons, alongside E-40 and his wife Tracey Stevens, were honored guests at The White House’s holiday party. The exclusive event included President Joe Biden addressing attendees, providing an opportunity for the guests to engage with members of the Biden administration, including White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre.
On Thursday (December 14), the White House hosted their annual holiday party, and it was a hip-hop affair thanks to Yo Gotti, E-40, and their partners Angela Simmons and Tracey Stevens, respectively. Moreover, the couples pulled up in with a lot of style and grace to the event. As always, Gotti and Simmons stunned in matching black fits, and he even shared a cute recap of some of the festivities and fun details they found. On the other hand, the West Coast legend pulled up with Stevens in a fit that some on social media compared to Coming In America. Alas, the reference doesn’t make his fit any less lavish.
Furthermore, Yo Gotti and E-40 took to Instagram to share their gratitude for attending. “Welcome To The White House Happy Holidays … #AnythingPossible … #KeepHustling,” the former wrote. “Achieved many accomplishments this year but I remain humble & grateful,” the Rule Of Thumb: Rule 1 MC expressed. “I give God all the praise.” Overall, it seemed like a very nice gathering of a lot of different industries and initiatives. In other news, Yo Gotti is also making moves in other areas, even if they are simply expanding on his already established success. For example, TMZ recently reported that he enrolled in a business course at UCLA, which is a weekly in-person offering titled “Corporate Valuation.” Of course, the CMG boss is already an established and acclaimed label CEO, but it seems like he wants to take these skills and accomplishments to the next level. If that will translate into CMG’s output and growth as a business and collective, then that only means good things moving forward.
Meanwhile, the ambassador of the Bay Area is also getting his due flowers in ways that are much bigger than hip-hop. The city of Vallejo in the Bay recently named a street in his honor, pointing to his indelible influence in putting the region on the map. We can only expect greater things to come from these figures in the future. For more news and updates on Yo Gotti, Angela Simmons, and E-40, stick around on HNHH.

As 2023 dawned, the hip-hop world was taken by surprise as Yo Gotti and his new girlfriend, Angela Simmons, declared their relationship on Instagram. This announcement was a revelation of a new celebrity couple and the culmination of a love story that had been years in the making. According to XXL, the pair “made their relationship official on Instagram,” a significant step for two public figures in the limelight for so long. Here, we’re exploring their journey from a lyrical crush to a public romance, all while navigating personal challenges and media speculation. It paints a picture of a love story full of surprises, set against the backdrop of the hip-hop world.
October 2015: The Lyric That Sparked A Flame
It all began in 2015 when Yo Gotti released his track “Down in the DM,” where he publicly expressed his admiration for Angela Simmons, the daughter of Reverend Run of the legendary rap group Run DMC. This wasn’t just a typical shout-out in a rap song but a candid confession of a crush. Gotti’s words, “And I just followed Angela (Simmons)/Boy, I got a crush on Angela Simmons,” as reported by XXL, were bold and unfiltered, setting the stage for what was to come.
Yo Gotti and Angela Simmons’ relationship is a notable example of how public declarations of affection can evolve into a real connection. By him first expressing affection towards Simmons through his music, this showed early signs of a spark that could form between the two, even if nothing would transpire and Simmons wouldn’t become Yo Gotti’s girlfriend until years later.
Amid this unfolding love story, Angela faced personal tragedy when her ex-fiancé, Sutton Tennyson, was fatally shot. This played an important part in Angela’s life, as she struggled with loss and the responsibilities of being a single mother. The tragic shooting of her ex-fiancé in November 2018 deeply impacted her. Tennyson was shot and killed in his driveway in Atlanta, and the suspect, Michael Williams, was charged with murder, among other charges.
Tennyson and Simmons shared a son named Sutton Joseph. Following Tennyson’s death, Simmons expressed her grief and shock on social media, vowing to support their son. She described her son as her “greatest gift” and shared tributes to Tennyson, emphasizing her commitment to raising their son with strength and love. The tragedy hit Simmons hard, but she admits in an interview on Tamron Hall’s show that going through therapy helped her cope with the situation and move on.
In another track, “Save It For Me,” released when Simmons got engaged to Tennyson, Gotti rapped about his feelings for her. Although some time passed, Yo Gotti would eventually get to shoot his shot with Angela. Fast forward to 2023, and the once one-sided affection turned romantic. The couple chose the dawn of the new year to announce their relationship, a moment that XXL described as a transition from Gotti’s crush to his ladylove. Their Instagram posts were not just mere photos; they were a declaration of love and mutual admiration, marking the beginning of a new chapter. It was official now. Angela Simmons was Yo Gotti’s girlfriend!
Since the two have become official, he has made several romantic gestures to express his affection for Angela Simmons. One of the most notable was for her 36th birthday, where he arranged an extravagant display of pink rose bouquets, black Chanel boxes, white candles, and a saxophone player serenading Simmons against a backdrop of clear blue water and palm trees.
This grand gesture also included tribal dancers and a beautifully decorated dinner table on the beach. Gotti’s surprise visibly moved Simmons, as she shared her emotional response on her Instagram Stories, noting that the saxophone player played SWV’s hit “Weak” in the background and expressing how touched she was by the romantic setup.
August 2023: Love Affair In Music
In a romantic gesture, Yo Gotti released “The One,” accompanied by a music video starring Angela Simmons. PEOPLEMagazine exclusively premiered this video, showcasing the couple’s intimate moments in luxurious locales like Greece and Dubai. The video was a visual diary of their love, with Gotti rapping heartfelt lyrics about his feelings for Simmons.
The music video included scenes of them riding in a Rolls-Royce, going on shopping sprees, swimming, and sharing intimate moments. Simmons also appeared in Gotti’s “No Fake Love” music video, further emphasizing their romantic connection and her support for his career. Additionally, Simmons has shown her affection by gifting Gotti a Tesla for his birthday, highlighting the reciprocal nature of their relationship.
Despite the fairy-tale romance, the couple faced their share of challenges. Rumors of a breakup and Gotti’s alleged infidelity surfaced, but these remained unaddressed by the couple. In its coverage, Distractify delved into these swirling rumors, introducing further intrigue into their relationship. The publication cited an October 20 report from a gossip site, Gossip of the City, which claimed on a platform known as X (previously Twitter), that Yo Gotti might be involved with another woman, referred to as his “nurse boo.”
The report alleged that Gotti had spent time with this woman in Las Vegas at the Aria Hotel, conspicuously without Angela’s presence. The source speculated that this could indicate either a breakup between Gotti and Angela or potential infidelity, given Gotti’s time spent with someone else. Despite such rumors, the couple appeared unfazed, showcasing their bond through public appearances and social media.
February 2023 – Present: Solidifying Their Bond In The Public Eye
The couple’s relationship was further solidified through their public appearances. They made their attendance at a Memphis Grizzlies game and at the Grammys, where they made their red carpet debut as a couple. These appearances were not just about showing up; they were affirmations of their commitment to each other, observed and celebrated by their fans.
The relationship between Yo Gotti and Angela Simmons is more than a celebrity romance. It shows the power of persistence, resilience in the face of personal tragedy, and the unexpected twists that life can bring. As they navigate the ups and downs of their public and private lives, their story continues to evolve, reminding us that sometimes, the most unlikely pairings can lead to the most beautiful stories.
Angela Simmons has been ordered to pay her former landlord $48,000 in back rent, bills, and other housing costs. The massive fee stems from an apartment in New Jersey that Simmons rented in October 2019. About a year later, her landlord began submitting complaints about insufficient payments from the reality star and fashion designer. Simmons did not respond to the charges, leading to a judge handing down a default ruling of $48,000.
Furthermore, TMZ noted that following the ruling, there has been a significant increase in the amount of promotional for her cake business on her social media. Simmons’ representatives are yet to release a statement about the ruling and it’s unclear what will happen if Simmons fails to pay up.
However, Angela Simmons is not the only person facing some money troubles as of late. Boosie Badazz recently went after his former record signee, Yung Bleu. “CAN U DO THE RIGHT THING N GET ME MY MILLIONS THAT WAS TAKEN FROM ME? U KNOW I FUCKED OVER BIG TIME!! WHY YOU DONT WANNA PAY ME” Boosie wrote on X, formerly Twitter. Also included in the post was a now-deleted Instagram post in which Bleu bragged about dropping $2M on building a facility for himself. Bleu was once signed to Boosie’s label. However, Boosie maintains that he lost out on millions when Bleu signed with EMPIRE. Furthermore, Boosie claims that the document releasing Bleu from his Bad Azz contract included a forgery of Boosie’s signature.
Bleu was arrested this week on battery charges after allegedly assaulting a woman in Georgia. However, the rapper has denied the charges. “I’m off this internet thing but I will take time to tell all my ladies that may be a fan of Bleu: I cherish women and I’m completely innocent. Just [know] this about to be one of [the] toughest times to be a fan of mines because I’ma about to go into another bracket as an OWNER and entrepreneur and people hate,” the rapper wrote on Instagram.
It’s no secret that Angela Simmons has long been the object of Yo Gotti’s affection. Now that he’s finally lucky enough to call the black-haired beauty his girlfriend, there’s no way he’ll risk losing her. The pair have spent much of their summer travelling around the globe and posing for photos in beautiful locations like Greece and Dubai. Even when they’re not in each other’s company due to their busy schedules, Angela and her rapper beau manage to stay connected throughout the day.
During a recent interview with Power 106‘s Justin Credible, Gotti was answering questions when he noticed an incoming call that he couldn’t help but pick up. “Do you wanna take that?” the host asked as the Southern star paused mid-sentence. “Yeah,” he replied before letting Simmons know that he’s in the midst of a work obligation. Though the lovers’ interaction was short and not particularly loving, the smile on Gotti’s face afterward proves that even just hearing from his girl brightens his day.
“That was shorty,” he told Justin. “I wanted to say hi,” the radio personality admitted nervously. “You should’ve,” the 42-year-old teased his friend before they agreed to call Simmons back. “Yo, my boy Justin Credible interviewing me and wanted to speak to you,” Yo tells his girl. “I just wanted to say hi and introduce myself, definitely a fan,” the Power 106 icon gushed to Gotti’s other half.
Gotti first professed his adorating for Angela Simmons on “Down in the DM” nearly a decade ago. On his most recent project, a Gangsta Grillz sequel, the CMG head once again showed love to the shoe designer – now his girlfriend – in both a song and music video.
