It looks like Aminé is ready for a proper return. The Portland rapper just shared a pair of new songs: the self-titled “Adam” (which is his real first name) and the Smino collaboration “Passenger Princess.” You can listen to both below.
On “Adam,” Aminé utilizes a slower beat to address a cooling romance. “Put your pride aside, come walk with me,” he croons. “I cater to you, please, tell me what you need.”
Meanwhile, “Passenger Princess” samples Total’s “Tell Me,” for a groovy, more boastful angle on relationships. Smino flexes his usual intricate, half-sung style, quipping, “Sometimes, she mad ’cause I’m so aloof and she want me in involved / Sometimes, she hungry, sometimes, she jealous, sometimes, she wrong / Say life is a bitch, I guess I know more ’bout that bitch than I thought.”
From the way the two tracks are presented, it does look a lot like Aminé is preparing to drop a new album, his first since 2020’s Limbo (although he did drop a mixtape, TwoPointFive, in 2021, and the Kaytranada collaboration, Kaytraminé, in 2023). The two tracks follow his remix of Charli XCX’s “360,” “360.5,” which he released in July.
You can listen to Aminé’s new singles “Adam” and “Passenger Princess” with Smino above.
It’s always a joy when Amine has a new song or project out. The Portland, Oregon native always seems to be able to evoke loose and chill vibes. It’s a quality that his fans are definitely appreciative of and it’s what they come to expect. They have been in Amine’s IG comments section under his announcement post for “Passenger Princess / Adam.” “Gonna paint and sip while I float to these new tracks” one user says. “Gonna be in my dorm doing homework, ts gonna get me on that academic grind ” another adds.
This is a new two pack that was just released hours ago and it’s also got a feature from the ever so talented Smino. Shockingly, this is the first time we have heard these expressive and idiosyncratic talents together. But unsurprisingly, they mesh perfectly as they both also have a knack for penning some hilarious one liners no matter the tone of the song. “Passenger Princess” and “Adam” are both relationship songs but share drastically different approaches to the subject. The former is much more casual, as Amine and Smino detail the carefree and sexually active connection they share with their ladies. “Adam,” though, is more serious, with Adam Amine Daniel giving everything he has to his partner despite her shortcomings. He’s extremely insecure and anxious on it and the lyrics really cut deep. Check out the two pack below and let us know what you think.
We f*** to the SZA, she love when it’s in her, she not gonna snooze (Not gonna snooze) I’m c**min’ too fast, I’m on a half tab, that’s not an excuse (Not an excuse) Don’t care ’bout your feelings, get bust like I’m Lillard then blow it on you (Blow it on you) She throwin’ a fit and throwin’ it back You f*** with me once, you comin’ right back Dealin’ my shows, you gеttin’ a pass
Since October of last year, Palm Bay, Florida rapper Cochise has been dropping single after single. 10 songs have been released in this span, with “NASTY” featuring Amine being the latest addition. With this pretty extensive stretch, it’s making us wonder how many songs are going to be on this next album. Will they all make the cut, or will some be left alone? However, this question is nearly not as important as the one fans are asking which is, “When is it coming?” According to Cochise’s Instagram post hyping up the release of him and Amine’s “NASTY”. “ALBUM SOON. BILLS ARE DUE”, he wrote.
For now, we are just going to have wait patiently and keep his recent material in our minds as fresh as possible. When it comes to “NASTY”, Cochise is giving us what we are well accustomed to at this point. That is of course really animated and zany rapping with a nice dose of humor added into the mix. The beat (as usual) is also well put together and energetic. Lex Luger and CHASETHEMONEY can be credited in this case. Overall, there are few people out there who are surprised by the Amine feature. To be honest, we aren’t. He shares a lot of similar qualities that Cochise does, especially on the delivery side. It’s a solid collab for sure and we think you should give it a spin.
Give her nan’, I’m like, “Don’t forget the nuts” I’m like, “Don’t forget the nuts” She like, “Damn, I didn’t know” I’m like, “Don’t forget the nuts” Now she tellin’ me her problems I’m like, “Shut up, show your butt” (Shut up)
In the hip-hop world, we usually dub the sweltering months of the year “hot girl summer” thanks to Megan Thee Stallion. However, in the pop realm, they are dubbing this time as “brat summer”. You can attribute that to English superstar Charli xcx. Her recent album BRAT is one of the strongest records of the year in any genre, as she continues to dominate her field. So many songs off the project are popping off right now such as “Apple”, “Von dutch”, and “365”. But by a wide margin, “360” is leading the way as it has over 110.4 million streams on Spotify. Apparently, Amine is a huge fan of hers, because he is embracing being a brat on his new single “360.5”.
This is essentially a rap remix to it, as the original beat, which is produced by A. G. Cook and Cirkut, is reused here. Additionally, Amine keeps the runtime pretty identical to the 2:11 that Charli utilizes. In typical fashion, he brings a lot of charisma and comedic qualities to the track both through the lyrics and visuals. Speaking of the latter, the Portland, Oregon multi-hyphenate appears to have filmed the music video on his phone from the comfort of his pad he’s staying at in Ischia, Italy. Overall, he shreds the beat, and it makes sense why he hopped a quirky beat like this one.
Look, it’s a brat summer Grab a drink or a cig or the marijuana I like petite girls and I like the big bumpers Turn around, throw it back, I love a thotiana Look, if A. G. made it, Aminé persuaded I’m off a lotta s***, yes, I’m faded
Brat Summer continues. Charli XCX’s new album Brat has been the moment and the movement for summer 2024, and it’s so popular that seemingly everyone is hopping on the wave.
That includes Portland rapper Aminé, who cheekily remixed Charli’s Brat single “360” as “360.5,” winking toward his own mixtape history. You may remember that between albums, he released a pair of tapes, ONEPOINTFIVE and TWOPOINTFIVE to work out new directions for his music between Good For You, Limbo, and Kaytraminé.
Contrary to what the “.5” in the title may suggest, though, Aminé doesn’t half-ass this release, pairing it with a simple but smooth video shot during a recent trip to Italian island, Ischia. Hanging out on a balcony overlooking the water, Aminé raps directly into the camera, while Y2K-style Photoshop edits and emojis illustrate his punchlines.
Next up for Aminé is his inaugural The Best Day Ever festival, which BADBADNOTGOOD, Karrahbooo, Kaytrandada, Rayvyn Lenae, Toro Y Moi, and more. Meanwhile, Charli has seen her new album and its accompanying slang adopted by none other than presumptive Democratic Presidential candidate Kamala Harris, even as Charli herself has expressed an interest in “flex[ing] my creative muscles on other areas.” We can’t wait to find out what those might be, but for the foreseeable future, the Brat era is in full effect.
Over the years, more and more artists have jumped into the music festival game. This week, Aminé joins the likes of Chance The Rapper, Tyler The Creator and J. Cole with The Best Day Ever Festival, coming to his hometown, Portland, Oregon’s Edgefield Lawn on August 10 and 11. Aminé made the announcement in his usual, quirky way, employing a helicopter to announce the lineup in a colorful trailer, which you can watch below.
Naturally, Aminé himself will headline alongside his Kaytraminé collaborator Kaytranada, with a lineup rounded out by avant-garde jazz band BADBADNOTGOOD, breakout Atlanta rap star Karrahbooo, Aminé’s tour DJ MadisonLST, R&B singer Ravyn Lenae, chillwave pioneer Toro y Moi, and Portland rapper 3WayHeff.
Tickets for the festival go on sale beginning on Friday, May 17, at 10 AM PT, at thebestdayeverfest.com.
Although Aminé hasn’t put out a new album since 2020’s Limbo, Aminé fans haven’t gone too long without something exciting from the “Caroline” rapper. In 2021, he dropped TwoPointFive, the follow-up to his 2018 mixtape OnePointFive, holding fans over until last year, when he teamed up with Kaytranada to release Kaytraminé. Although Aminé hasn’t announced a new album for 2024, it wouldn’t be too surprising to see him do so before his performance at The Best Day Ever Festival.
Nathaniel Ritchie’s part of a lot of the most exciting rap music to come out in the past ten years. Following the passing of group member Groggs in 2020, the Arizona rapper and producer Parker Corey chose to release one more album as the trio Injury Reserve in 2021: By The Time I Get To Phoenix, the best album of the decade so far. Then, they retired the moniker to make music as the By Storm duo in 2023. In addition, he now chose the name RiTchie after previously going by Ritchie With a T to release his debut solo album Triple Digits [112] on April 5. Along with this announcement, the “Double Trio” spitter released the single and music video “Dizzy” with frequent collaborator Aminé, following his debut solo single “RiTchie Valens” a few weeks ago.
Just like that song, RiTchie crafts a really creative, unsurprisingly dizzying, and engaging sample flip with catchy refrains, charismatic delivery, and entrancing percussion. Almost the whole music video is filmed from a first-person perspective as he hits the gym, goes out to a bar, and meets Aminé in the bathroom. Speaking of which, the KAYTRAMINÉ creative is similarly impressive on the mic here, and both MCs provide a nuanced, clever, and critical look at the hip-hop world caring more about image and lifestyle rather than the actual work and craft.
RiTchie’s “Dizzy” With Amine: Watch The Music Video
Overall, it’s amazing to see RiTchie express himself in yet another artistic project, and to have it be as unique and compelling as he’s always been. “What started as a personal outlet to release these mental barriers, ended up with me having some fun music I felt comfortable, then confident, and now excited to put out there in the world while me and Parker continue to work on the first By Storm record,” he shared of this new journey. What did you think of “Dizzy” with Amine? However you may feel, drop your thoughts in the comments section down below and peep some standout bars there, too. If you haven’t heard the single yet, find it on your preferred streaming service and check out the music video above. As always, stay up to date on HNHH for the best new music drops around the clock. Rest In Power Stepa J. Groggs.
Quotable Lyrics But it’s simplistic, ‘His parents all rich’ n***a How many times do we got to sing this song? That ‘We don’t want to hear that weak s**t no more’? And this ain’t just a case of ‘To each his own’
A few months after Kaytranada and Aminé joined forces to release their first self-titled album together as Kaytraminé, the duo now have some other fun plans in store for their fans. They will be hitting the road across North America this fall to play a handful of shows in major cities and showcase their latest tunes.
While Kaytranada brought Aminé out during his weekend one Coachella set, the two haven’t played together since. And, considering the record boasts a ton of features, including Big Sean, Freddie Gibbs, Pharrell Williams, and Snoop Dogg, we can only hope that they might have some special surprise guests in store for the tour.
“It has some of the best Kay beats that he’s ever made, and some of the best singing and rapping I’ve ever done,” Aminé told W Magazine upon the release. “It really leveled up my artistic capabilities.”
“‘4EVA’ is one of the dance songs on the album, and people expect it’s going to go in that direction, but it’s completely the opposite,” Kaytranada added. “They are really going to experience my versatility as a producer.”
Tickets for the tour are available starting this Friday at 10 a.m. local time for each city. Find additional information here, and a complete list of dates below.

Oregon rapper Amine has a new collaboration with New Balance. The athletic brand announced the shoe with the “Caroline” rapper via a billboard in Portland. Located on Martin Luther King Blvd., the billboard reads, “A Kid From Portland Has His Own Sneaker.” New Balance and Amine have combined their two brands together as an inspiration to the line.
Amine’s clothing label, Club Banana, is infused into the Billboard. Fans are awaiting a release date as it has not been set yet. The rapper let his fans know about his new collaboration with New Balance through an Instagram post.
Last week, Amine released a joint album with Canadian producer Kaytranada titled, Kaytramine. The album features Freddie Gibbs, Snoop Dogg, Pharrell, and Big Sean. The “Reel It In” rapper spoke highly about the Detroit rapper for his feature on “Master P”. He told Zane Lowe of Apple Music that he contacted Big Sean for over a year for the verse.
”I always knew he was going to kill this beat. So I hit him up for a year straight just trying to get him on this verse. And he was hitting me back and he had a family. He’s a dad. He gave us literally one of the best verses of the year.”
The RX is Uproxx Music’s stamp of approval for the best albums, songs, and music stories throughout the year. Inclusion in this category is the highest distinction we can bestow and signals the most important music being released throughout the year. The RX is the music you need, right now.
The other day, a DJ friend of mine posted a thread on Twitter pointing out how modern hip-hop isn’t really made for dancing. Somewhere along the way, the prevalent vibe for hip-hop songs became either the murky, muddy, drugged-out sound first popularized by Future or the boisterous, triumphant, standing-on-couches style best exemplified by Rick Ross. You can flex, you can jump up and down, or you can zone out to it, but mostly, folks in the club just stand around looking at their phones or filming other people standing around looking at their phones. Sometimes, there’s twerking.
Fortunately, Aminé and Kaytranada are here to save the day. I immediately forwarded my DJ friend the cover of their new album Kaytraminé (which doubles as the duo’s collective soubriquet), which by the group’s own estimation on Twitter is not just the album of the summer, but the literal soundtrack of it. I’m inclined to agree.
As soon as you press play on “Who He Iz,” the album’s opener, the first voice you hear demands that listeners leave their “cool” at the door. As Kaytranada provides a slinky beat reminiscent of Busta Rhymes’ masterful 1997 solo debut “Put Your Hands Where My Eyes Could See,” Aminé spits rapid-fire, boastful verses in the same vein. It’s hard to resist the urge to shoulder shimmy — again, see the video for the above-mentioned Busta Rhymes classic — and they’re just getting started.
Across the album’s 11 tracks, Kaytraminé gets straight to the point: this is music that they want you to dance to. The star of the show in that regard is, of course, Kaytranada’s effervescent, up-tempo beats. The producer has earned a reputation over the past few years as the bridge between dance music, hip-hop, and R&B, adopting a production style equally influenced by house music pioneers as it is by RZA and The Neptunes.
Speaking of The Neptunes, Pharrell Williams makes an appearance here on the bouncy single “4Eva,” lending Kaytraminé the legitimacy of his legacy as the 2000s’ premier dance floor filler. Kaytranada’s impression of his production idol is beyond adroit; that he transforms the beat-making style of the maestro into a distinctive concoction recognizable as a Kaytra original with Pharrell on the song is an impressive feat, marking Kaytranada as a worthwhile successor. “Eye” is another successful effort in this vein, accented by sound effects from Sonic The Hedgehog and featuring frequent Pharrell Phriend Snoop Dogg.
What’s even more impressive: it’s not all champagne fizz and tropical vibes, yet Kaytraminé never loses the vibe of a consummate summertime album. “Westside,” despite channeling the ambiance of one of Ross’s lumbering, barrel-chested anthems, retains a thread of focus on moving the lower anatomy as much as mean-mugging the haters. “Rebuke,” a mellow, top-down cruiser, is as sure to provoke a two-step when listeners reach their destination.
And look, just because Kaytranada’s beats are the highlight doesn’t mean Aminé is out here slouching on the rhymes. If anything, it’s probably harder to write a good party song — let alone eleven of them — that suits the hip-swinging tempos offered here. Think about what kinds of songs have always gotten toes tapping at day parties and nightclubs throughout the warm months. They’re not often specifically about partying. Take, for instance, Snoop and Pharrell’s slew of collabs. They run the gamut from slick-talking gangsta funk to sensual flirtations with the sort of woman you’d meet at a summertime social gathering, directly addressed to enemies or admirers.
In this, Aminé is also a worthy successor. Whether putting down would-be rivals on “Master P,” preaching self-validation on “K&A,” or lamenting lost love on “Rebuke,” he’s good for winking punchlines and adept vibe-setting. The tightrope act between relatable and aspirational is one he’s long mastered, and he puts it to effective use here. By turns, Kaytraminé evokes the atmosphere of a warm night on the coast with a cloudless sky, a packed, small-room venue with free-flowing drinks and vibrant energy, and a pool party where people actually get in the pool. If that ain’t summer, I don’t know what is.
