Young Dro Gets Heated When His Friend Laughs At His Addiction Struggles On “The Breakfast Club”

Young Dro and T.I., plus a couple of their friends, recently stopped by The Breakfast Club for a compelling and almost confrontational interview. Why did things almost become heated? Well, it started when one of Dro and Tip’s friends started to laugh when the former discussed his struggles with addiction. The duo and the radio show crew laughed this off at first, but by the third time it happened, Dro turned around and threatened to slap his friend if he kept going. This led T.I. to intervene and cool things down before celebrating that Dro is almost four years sober.

You can see the whole thing go down in the Instagram post below, and you might be as surprised as we were when things started to get intense. Despite Young Dro’s past struggles with addiction, it’s clear that he’s in a much better place now and is grateful for the journey that led him to this healed state. Elsewhere, he’s dropping freestyles like his treatment of GloRilla’s “Yeah Glo!” and enjoying himself as both a figure in hip-hop culture and as a regular human being like the rest of us. In the comments of the post down below, you can see folks react to this tense moment.

Young Dro’s Tense Moment On The Breakfast Club

As for Young Dro’s co-interviewee, T.I. recently retired from performing in order to focus on his film and comedy careers. “I appreciate y’all for offering me my last working gig because I do not need the money anymore and I will not be performing,” he remarked on 96.1 The Beat. “I don’t want to do it anymore…I don’t want people to pay me to hop around and sweat for their entertainment anymore.”

Meanwhile, Young Dro and T.I. go way back, so it’s no surprise that the latter defended the former when their friend laughed about his addiction struggles. Whether it’s their 2000s work or recent link-ups like on Dro’s I Am Legend 2 project, they always have each other’s backs. Overall, this situation opened up conversations around how friends should support each other through tough times and whether or not making light of them is appropriate under certain contexts.

Post Malone Reveals Drinking Helped Him Cope With Culture Vulture & One-Hit Wonder Labels

Post Malone is an artist who is always adapting his style. He’s not afraid to explore what he can do, and that mindset is allowing him to dip his toes into the country space. In just a few days, August 16 to be exact, the Texas singer and songwriter will be delivering his sixth studio project, F-1 Trillion. The 18-song set will consist of numerous collaborations and duets with some of the most widely recognized stars in the genre. Luke Combs, Blake Shelton, Dolly Parton, Jelly Roll, and Lainey Wilson are just a few to rattle off.

However, Post Malone doing this throughout his nearly decade-long run in the industry has been met with some backlash. That was seemingly the case, especially when broke into the hip-hop scene in middle 2010s with “White Iverson”. According to XXL, Malone spoke with CBS Sunday Morning during the recent filming for the music video for “Guy For That”. During his conversation with Anthony Mason, they reflected on what it was like for him to explode into what can be an unforgiving genre.

Post Malone Has Fought Through The Adversity

Posty says that he was dealing with a lot of “culture vulture” and “one-hit wonder” accusations. He revealed that it took a hefty mental toll, and it didn’t help that he was so young (early 20s). “It sucked. I was a kid”. He leaned on drinking heavily to numb the pain he was dealing with, but even then, “It’s hard not to [take it personal]”, Malone admitted. However, him continuing to create music helped him push through and become the chameleon-like superstar we know him for being today.

What are your thoughts on Post Malone revealing that drinking was his way of dealing with being called a “culture vulture” and more? Were you of this mindset back when he first appeared in the hip-hop scene? Is this next album, F-1 Trillion, going to be his most successful crossover record yet? Is Post genuinely one of the most easy-to-like people in music? We would like to hear what you have to say, so leave your thoughts in the comments. Additionally, always keep it locked in with HNHH for all of the latest news surrounding Post Malone. Finally, stay with us for everything else going on in the music world.

Consequence Blasts Kanye West’s Dentist Amid Nitrous Addiction Allegations

Earlier this week, Kanye West’s former Chief of Staff Milo Yiannopoulos made some shocking claims about the rapper’s dentist in an affidavit. He accused the dentist, Thomas P. Connelly, of providing Ye with “enormous quantities of nitrous gas” for “explicitly recreational use.” Yiannopoulos expressed concern for the artist’s well-being, citing his alleged dependence on the substance.

For obvious reasons, fans quickly became worried. This morning, #SaveYe was even trending on X, suggesting that supporters think there could be a real problem. This is still unconfirmed, but now, his peers are even beginning to chime in. Today, for example, Consequence took to Instagram to share an old clip of his studio session with Ye and Timbaland.

Consequence Reacts To Milo Yiannopoulos’ Claims About Kanye West’s Alleged Nitrous Addiction

“G.O.O.D. things come To those who wait,” he captioned the post. “Me and YE in @Timbaland studio cooking up what would be my next single ‘Overdose’ featuring @YNWMelly THIS FRIDAY 08.09.24. By The Way F*ck Thomas Connelly If That Sh*t Is True!!!” Ye himself has yet to address the speculation, though another one of his affiliates did earlier today. In a since-deleted post, YesJulz slammed Yiannopoulos for his claims, alleging that he was the one to connect Ye with Connelly in the first place.

Who suggested for him to get the grill in the first place? When [they told me] to book the appointment I expressed my concerns & pushed back twice asking if he [for] sure wanted to do it. I was told that the decision was made,” she wrote. “As your b***h a** & the rest of the world knows, I was let go shortly after bc you couldn’t stand to see genuine people with innovative ideas & real work ethic around.” Connelly has denied the allegations. What do you think of Milo Yiannopoulos accusing Kanye West’s dentist of supplying him with nitrous gas? What about Consequence’s reaction to the allegations? Kodak Black’s Questionable Advice For Youth Football Team Sparks Uproar

It goes without saying that Kodak Black has seen a lot in his life. For this reason, it seems like he’d be an excellent candidate to pass on some of the lessons he’s learned to the youth. Aside from his career and dealing with legal issues, the rapper has also been open about battling addiction. Lately, he’s been taking steps toward sobriety, and fans are glad to see him on a better path. Recently, however, he was recruited to give a motivational speech to a youth football team in Florida. A few of his comments have raised eyebrows, as social media users don’t think he delivered his message in a kid-friendly way.

“Say no to drugs,” he told the group of children. “They too good, y’all gone like em and go cr*zy.” While the advice itself is solid enough, many are pointing out that he appeared to address the group while holding both alcohol and a blunt. Others argue that telling young and impressionable individuals that drugs are “good” on any level is irresponsible.

Kodak Black Tells Kids To Avoid Drugs Because They’re “Too Good”

“Bro smoking and drinking telling them not to do drugs?” one commenter asks. “Why is he speaking to the kids with a beer in his hands,” someone else wonders. Fortunately, while most viewers think he shouldn’t address children again in the future, others are coming to his defense. “Can’t say he wrong for being straightforward,” one fan says. “Hey you have to be real with them because them kids ain’t foolish these days,” another claims.

What do you think of Kodak Black’s recent speech to a Florida youth football team? What about the backlash he’s receiving for it? Do you think he should have rephrased his advice about saying no to drugs or are social media users overreacting? Kanye West Is Allegedly Addicted To Nitrous Gas

Kanye West has a “dependence” on nitrous gas, according to the rapper’s former chief of staff, Milo Yiannopoulos, who made the claims in an affidavit for a complaint against dentist Thomas P. Connelly. Citing concerns about West’s “health and safety,” Yiannopoulos complained about “the unlawful supply of enormous quantities of nitrous gas to a wealthy, famous patient for explicitly recreational use.” Connelly installed West’s permanent titanium grill.

As noted by AllHipHop, Yiannopoulos further claims West’s staff “were worrying about” his “dependence on the gas and speaking openly about it.” He describes employees witnessing “four large surgical tanks of nitrous oxide” at Bianca Censori’s apartment. Apparently by one point, West was talking “about it non-stop in meetings” and “seemed to be in an out of the inhaler mask on a near-constant basis,” and “communications ‘were becoming incomprehensible and contradictory.” Additionally, Yiannopoulos says Connelly “supplied West with advisors … who demanded gigantic sums for their services” and suggested “widespread and disruptive changes,” to his business. Altogether, Yiannopoulos claims Connelly “sought to exploit” Kanye West’s “psychological vulnerabilities.”

Kanye West Attends Berlin Fashion Week

It’s not the first time Yiannopoulos has linked West to the use of nitrous gas. Back in July, while calling out YesJulz on X (formerly Twitter), he described the rapper as a person with mental illness who is “hooked on nitrous thanks to the Doctor Death of Dentistry.” “I did everything I could to get Thomas Connelly, the Doctor Death of Dentistry, away from Ye,” he wrote in another post. “@YesJulz and others sat back and watched the greatest living artist permanently destroy his brain with a neurotoxin. As long as the checks kept clearing, they all stayed quiet. Foul.”

Yiannopoulos ended up resigning from his position in West’s staff in May of this year. After spending two years with the controversial rapper, he complained about the company getting into sex work. Be on the lookout for further updates on Kanye West and Milo Yiannopoulos on HotNewHipHop.

Kodak Black Announces That He’s Mostly Sober

Kodak Black has been open about his substance abuse issues in the past, and recently, he gave fans yet another hopeful update on his journey to sobriety. During an Instagram Live earlier this week, the rapper revealed that going a few days without substances is “nothing” for him now, which is a far cry from how he felt previously. “I’m sober for the most part,” he declared.

He went on to say that “if the Gremlin can do it, y’all can do it,” expressing a desire to motivate others battling substance abuse with his own progress. Kodak Black Opens Up About His Sobriety Journey

“Love that for him,” one Instagram user says. “A win is a win,” someone else writes. Others are commending him for being so transparent with his supporters about the pitfalls of addiction and trying to encourage others not to go down the same road he did. Kodak Black’s latest remarks on sobriety arrive only days after he revealed that he regrets some of his most popular lyrics about drug use during a show in LA.

The lyrics in question are from his 2022 track “Super Gremlin,” in which he raps about taking fake Percs. He clarified that had he actually been taking fake drugs, he’d be “dead” by now, and that it can be incredibly dangerous. The performer explained that he didn’t want listeners to hear the line and get the wrong idea. What do you think of Kodak Black revealing that he’s mostly sober these days? Whoopi Goldberg Admits To Battling Cocaine Addiction In The 80s

Today, Whoopi Goldberg released her new memoir, Bits and Pieces: My Mother, My Brother, and Me. The book encompasses her early life, growing up in New York City with her family, and the obstacles she faced as a young adult. At one point in her memoir, Goldberg details her battle with cocaine addiction in the 80s. She recalled realizing that she needed to clean up her act when a housekeeper found her lying on a closet floor.

“I had stayed pretty far away from drugs, except for pot, after getting cleaned up in the early ‘70s,” she explains. ”But Los Angeles and New York started to redefine what ‘recreational drug use’ meant in the ‘80s.” She continues, “It was a really good time for about a year. Then I fell into the deep well of cocaine and sank to a new low. Nobody around me caught on to where I was at with it. At least, that’s what I wanted to believe. I would have called myself ‘a very high-functioning addict.’

Whoopi Goldberg Recalls Telling Herself, “Fix Your Life”

That didn’t last for long, however, as Goldberg soon found herself at a new low after a two-day binge at a hotel. “Cocaine started to kick my a**,” she recalls. “I’d go to work and realize I was getting sloppy. I was sitting on the closet floor, just putting it up my nose,” she says. “All by myself. I didn’t hear the housekeeper knock or let herself in the room to clean it up.”

“I looked at myself in the mirror near the door and saw cocaine all over my face,” she admits. “Get up, get out, and fix your life,” she recalls telling herself. “’You’ve been sitting in a closet for two days. It’s not good.’ I had already decided that I was willing and ready to stop, so I was going to do whatever I needed to stop putting drugs up my nose.” What do you think of Whoopi Goldberg opening up about battling drug addiction in the 80s? Rappers Who Admitted To Having Addictions To Lean

In the world of Hip Hop where success and excess often intertwine, there lies a sobering truth beneath the surface. It’s no surprise that many artists have dealt with drug abuse and addiction throughout their careers. However, the prevalence of lean addiction among some of the industry’s most prominent rappers has alarmed many fans. Lean’s seductive allure, coupled with its dangerous effects, has sadly ensnared many within the rap community. Consequently, this has led to a cascade of candid confessions from those grappling with addiction. The most recent statement came from Bow Wow, who admitted to formerly being addicted to sizzurp. Here are five rappers who have openly admitted to having addiction to the purple mixture.

Lil Wayne

Without a doubt, Lil Wayne is one of the most popular rappers who have admitted to having an addiction to lean. As a matter of fact, throughout his career, Wayne has never shied away from mentioning his use of the drug. In many of his songs like “Lock And Load” and “Codeine Dreaming,” he addresses the topic. Additionally, for years, the rapper was seen on many different occasions taking the purple drink. Weezy never needed to make a special public announcement because he never hid it from the world in the first place. However, he did publicly speak about an addiction to sizzurp. One such time was when he spoke to Vlad TV in a 2010 PSA.

Mac Miller

Mac Miller’s battle with addiction was a poignant and deeply personal journey that resonated with fans worldwide. Admittedly, his struggles extended beyond lean addiction. However, his candid acknowledgment of his dependency on the concoction provided a stark reminder of the perils of substance abuse within the music industry. Miller was one of a few rappers to openly acknowledge his lean addiction, doing so through his music, interviews, and public statements. For example, Miller told Complex in 2013 that he loved lean and thought the drug was great. Sadly, the rapper passed away in September 2018 due to an accidental drug overdose of cocaine, fentanyl, and alcohol.

Bow Wow

When Mac Miller passed, it affected rappers around the world, and it shook Bow Wow so much that he came out to open up about his own addiction to lean. In a series of tweets, the rapper shared that he had taken the drug so much that he had become addicted to it. “When me and Omarion worked on FACE OFF album. I was high off lean every day! When y’all saw me on BET going off on torae, I was high off lean,” he wrote. During a recent interview with The Art Of Dialogue, he spoke about his former addiction once again. He spoke extensively about his excessive use of the drug when he used to take it, and withdrawal symptoms when he tried stopping.

Juelz Santana

In 2019, Juelz Santana spoke about his lean addiction in interviews with Drink Champs and Vlad TV. On Drink Champs, the Love & Hip Hop: New York star shared, “I was drinking lean, and did I have an addiction? For sure.” He continued, “I was addicted to the point where I was drinking it every day, and if I stopped, yeah, I would have got sick.” After also talking about his addiction on Vlad TV, he advised, “It’s gotta come out [of your body], and it’s gotta come out the worst type of way. And the worst type of way is through every part of your body. Aching, hurting, pains, throwing up. It’s not a good feeling, and I definitely don’t recommend it.”

Gucci Mane

One of the first rappers to admit a dependency on lean, Gucci Mane publicly addressed his addiction back in 2013. Before heading to rehab, the rapper took to Twitter to apologize for erratic behavior caused by lean that had gotten him apprehended by the police. “I’ve been drinking lean for 10 plus years & I must admit it has destroyed me. I wanna be the first rapper to admit I’m addicted to lean and that sh*t ain’t no joke,” he wrote. “I’m currently incarcerated but I will be going to rehab because I need help. I wanna thank everyone that has stood by me during this difficult time. Please keep me in your prayers,” he concluded. The rapper has since kicked his addiction and remains sober to this day.

Lil Mo Speaks On Battles With Opioid Addiction

Lil Mo, the R&B songstress, recently bared her soul on the Don’t Call Me White Girl podcast. She offered a raw and unfiltered account of her harrowing struggle with opioid addiction. A battle that was intricately woven into the fabric of an abusive relationship. In a candid conversation from early December, she delved into the depths of her addiction and the transformative journey that led her to break free in late 2019. “Addiction is real because people don’t know you’re addicted,” Lil Mo began. Peeling back the layers of a hidden struggle that often goes unnoticed. Despite her public persona, she disclosed the financial toll of her addiction, admitting to spending a staggering amount— at least a grand a week. All while ensuring everyone around her was taken care of. It was a paradoxical existence where her outward generosity masked an internal battle.

Moreover, Mo painted a vivid picture of her time in California. Where the glamour of the music scene was overshadowed by the darker reality of substance abuse. “When we touch down, everything was laid out — coke, pills, syrup… And I’ll get up there and sing, and you’d never know, and I’m literally burnt the fuck out.” Her revelation highlights the stark contrast between the polished stage presence and the private struggle that unfolded behind the scenes.

Lil Mo

However, the singer emphasized the deceptive nature of addiction, explaining, “The only reason y’all knew I was on drugs was because I said it.” Lil Mo confronted the societal pressure to conceal vulnerabilities. She shed light on the internal conflict of compromising one’s authenticity to meet external expectations. She lamented, “That’s when it comes to the soft white underbelly where you think you have to lower who you are to meet people where they’re at. It upsets me what I allowed.”

Moreover, Lil Mo’s journey from the depths of addiction to sobriety serves as a powerful narrative of resilience and self-discovery. By bravely sharing her story, she not only unveils the hidden struggles that many face. But also challenges the stigma surrounding addiction. In doing so, she advocates for a more compassionate and understanding approach to those battling their demons. She emphasized that beneath the glamorous facade, everyone has their own battles to fight.
