Coi Leray Gets Fans To “Get Loud” In New Music Video

Coi Leray’s sophomore album COI is finally here, and it’s got no shortage of energetic bangers and rap-dance crossovers. Moreover, the latest visual for one of those jams is here, bringing on soccer star Trinity Rodman for “Get Loud.” As far as the track itself, it borrows from a Jersey club-style rhythm mixed with anthemic horns and excited group vocals. Not only that, but the Boston native heats up the track with some boastful and emphatic verses that fit the melody and drum pattern quite well. Considering the wealth of music videos and singles we got as part of the album’s rollout, to see her continue to capitalize on this success is no surprise.

Furthermore, this is also far from the 26-year-old’s first crossover into the sports realm with her promotional material. For example, she worked with the WNBA for a campaign featuring her hit lead single, “Players,” further emphasizing female solidarity and teamwork. That certainly shows up in the “Get Loud” music video, where Rodman (USWNT forward) and others get invitations to a get-together via flyers. Coi Leray poses with a fancy car, of course, but also parties in the locker room as her peers dance to the track.

Coi Leray’s “Get Loud” Music Video

On that note of unity, the “Bops” hitmaker recently spoke about that when addressing Latto’s mention of her in her latest hit single. “It’s not a sensitive conversation,” Coi Leray told Ebro. “I feel like it wasn’t more about the body, it was more of mentioning my name. I’m about positivity. For real. And I wasn’t sure where it was coming from. And not only that, I feel like the problem with our community today is we be so quick to try to change things but we don’t do nothing to actually change anything.

“So if we’re going to say we’re going to stop talking about bodies, then don’t mention anything about my body,” she went on. “Just period. Don’t compare me to nothing, don’t think about nothing. We’re not smoking on anything, it’s disrespect. And where I come from I just don’t like that.” Check out the music video for “Get Loud” above and stay posted on HNHH for the latest news on Coi Leray.

Boosie Badazz Has Triumphant “First Day Back” With New Album

To everyone’s surprise, Boosie Badazz is not only back after a brief stint in jail, but he’s also back to dropping music immediately. Moreover, he just released First Day Back, a ten-track album that, in some pockets, fits the vibe of someone who just got his freedom. Of course, it’s unclear how much of this album was recorded and mixed before his incarceration, but it’s still the same old Baton Rouge MC that you know. For example, his vocal performances here are as nasal and expressive as ever, shifting between passionate singing and aggressive verses. When he got out of jail, he already celebrated plenty on IG Live, and odds are he has a lot more to celebrate now.

“He’s baaaaack!” Boosie started off his first Instagram Live after release from jail, where he ended up after being arrested on federal gun charges. “I wan’ thank God. I got chairs on my knees, I been praying so much. My family, all the prayer warriors who came to San Diego to support me. Yeah, Boosie Boo. Yeah! BET, I need three tickets. I go to BET Awards [on June 25] but I gotta go to my attorneys. That’s me! I’m back! Boosie Boo! That’s me! I’m back! I’m drivin’ the jeep. First day back. Prussia! You can get a ride now. But BET, I need three tickets. I need a haircut. Oh man, I’m outta breath already. Boosie’s baaaaaack!”

Mac Miller’s “Watching Movies With The Sound Off” 10th Anniversary Edition Is Here

On June 18, 2013, Mac Miller released his second studio album, and the one that arguably marked his first major mainstream evolution as an artist. Of course, true fans will credit earlier projects like Macadelic with that achievement, but for many, Watching Movies With The Sound Off was the Pittsburgh MC’s true next step. Moreover, those who love his music or just respect him as a one-of-a-kind artist celebrated the album’s tenth anniversary online. Now, they have another way to fully celebrate this landmark LP, with his estate and Rostrum Records releasing a special edition of Watching Movies for its tenth birthday. Still, there’s few edits and tweaks to make to an album that was already beloved on impact.

First, let’s start with what’s new on Watching Moves With The Sound Off‘s tenth anniversary edition. The original version of the tone-setting album opener, “The Star Room,” appears at the end of the album’s tracklist (including bonus songs). On it, the most notable difference is the different vocal takes and the different interpretation of the beat. In comparison to the version released in 2013, the instrumental and sample flip is much moodier and more meditative for Mac Miller’s flow to ride.

Mac Miller’s Watching Movies 10th Anniversary Edition’s OG Version Of “The Star Room”

In addition, Mac’s alternate persona Delusional Thomas doesn’t appear on the OG version of “The Star Room,” a character represented by the more high-pitched vocals. Also, the original recording features some brief words from Earl Sweatshirt, which are a subtle but welcome addition, especially considering that their collab “I’m Not Real” appears shortly after in the tracklist. Finally, the special edition’s vinyl (which you can find here) contains an exclusive track from Mac Miller titled “The Quest.” Other than that, it’s the same Watching Movies you know and love from the late legend.

Meanwhile, the artist’s posthumous catalog remains respectfully limited outside of album reissues, although Madlib recently said that Maclib is coming soon. As such, there will be much more Mac to celebrate, whether for his unearthed gems or his forever enduring catalog. On that note, you can find Watching Movies With The Sound Off‘s 10th anniversary edition on your preferred streaming service. Gunna Floats On “a Gift & a Curse” Highlight “fukumean”

a Gift & a Curse has plenty of highlights, and it’s a tracklist that people will most likely be dissecting for the next few weeks. Moreover, a lot of this is owed to the reflections on betrayal, Gunna’s place in the game, and people speaking down on him laced throughout on tracks like, for example, “turned your back.” However, that’s not to say that the YSL affiliate doesn’t bring the bangers to the table, as well. One particular standout that people latched onto (if streaming numbers indicate anything) is “fukumean.” It’s a classic Wunna-style cut that sees the artist fall into a focused and fiery pocket.

As far as the College Park MC’s performance, his flow on here plays to his strengths, and it’s one he’s proven to rock with each song. Furthermore, his easy switch-ups between measured lines and faster rhymes make each stanza more enjoyable to experience. Lyrically, his focus is more hedonistic this time around: the fame, the money, the girls, and his unrivaled status in the streets and in the game. To be fair, if Gunna didn’t go deeper on these themes on other tracks, some lines here might seem tone-deaf considering the conversation around his snitching allegations. But regardless, he gives listeners a reason to perk their ears up with catchy vocalizations and a killer beat.

Gunna Asks “fukumean” On a Gift & a Curse

On that note, the production takes advantage of a quintessential Gunna combo: flute melodies with some lightly plucked strings and piano with some added group ad-libs that give the song its title. Ultimately, the deep bass hits, shifting hi-hat patterns, and sharp snare turn this peaceful sonic pallet into a heater. It’s a good thing that, despite all the focus on the 30-year-old’s more meaningful content, he reached a balance between the personal and the effortlessly listenable on this album. You can find a Gift & a Curse on your preferred streaming service and peep some notable lines down below. Also, check back in with HNHH for the latest news and updates on Gunna.

Quotable Lyrics
I let her run through a million, I rock with her really, let’s fuck on a billion
I’ma get down to the gritty, then fuck up the city, the home of the villains
Ecstasy, wonderful feelin’
Smoke out the pound when I’m chillin’
Trappin’, I made me a killin’
Look, I got everybody wishin’

Gunna & More Bring Us Only Gifts With Bangers On Our “Fire Emoji” Playlist Update

This week had a lot of big music releases to go through, so it’s a good thing that we compiled the best of the best on our latest Fire Emoji playlist update. This Saturday (June 17), we brought you a whole album’s worth of material to dive into. Speaking of albums, there are too many highlights on Gunna’s latest, a Gift & a Curse to name, but we thought “rodeo dr,” “ca$h $hit,” and the music video-assisted “back to the moon” were particularly solid. Another great album to drop this week was Killer Mike’s powerful MICHAEL, and the track “SCIENTISTS & ENGINEERS” featuring Eryn Allen Kane, Future, and none other than André 3000 is a potent slice of its greatness. What’s more is that there might be more Mike and Dre in the future, but only time will tell.

Moving on, there’s the measured “Attention” from Doja Cat, ushering in her new album era and what fans believe is a different and exciting approach. Not only does it have critical acclaim, but it became the second-highest Spotify global streaming debut for a single by a female rapper. Next is Gucci Mane’s “Bluffin’” with Lil Baby, quite the ATL team-up where you see the city’s effortless talent run from generation to generation. Baby also appeared on “Shoe Box,” a taster from Kap G’s latest full-length, HorHey.

HNHH Fire Emoji Playlist

Of course, we have to mention the new Trippie Redd single with his girlfriend Skye Morales, “Took My Breath Away.” Compared to his previous rage-centric album, it seems like A Love Letter To You 5 will return to his moodier and more genre-fusing tendencies- but with some solid rapping, to boot. Coi Leray’s dropping an album soon, too, and “Run It Up” is one of its last teaser cuts before release. In addition, the prolific NBA YoungBoy appears on RJAE’s YOU’RE THE PROBLEM on the song “Too Gone.”

Meanwhile, DDG tapped BIA and NLE Choppa for a buttery remix of the track “I’m Geekin.” Last but certainly not least, Mike Dimes and Denzel Curry are absolutely monstrous on “ARSENAL,” a standout from the former’s new project TEXAS BOY. What was your favorite song or album to drop this week? Let us know in the comments and, as always, come back to HNHH for more great new music.

Gunna Feels Betrayed But Resilient On “turned your back”

Gunna’s latest album a Gift & a Curse is easily one of the most anticipated and immediately talked-about rap projects of the year so far in the mainstream. Not only is the College Park MC beloved for his musical output over the years, but his plea deal in the YSL RICO case after months in jail caused a large debate around his status and whether he could be labeled a “snitch.” It’s something that will unfortunately follow him around in his career for the foreseeable future. However, with this new set of tracks, he takes a big step towards reclaiming an elevated status in the game. Some of that had to do with his response to that conversation, but much of it comes thanks to the effective songwriting, layered production, and compelling narratives on tracks like “turned your back.”

First, the instrumental here is among the most dynamic and detailed that the 30-year-old has tapped in quite some time. The track opens with a muffled and brooding set of percussion that’s eventually replaced by cleaner drums led by a sharp snare and subtle hi-hats. In terms the melodies and harmonic elements of “turned your backs,” Gunna employs a lot of techniques to convey the atmosphere. Whether it’s mournful guitars, harmonized and ethereal background vocals, plucked strings, soft piano, or haunting synth pads, there’s a lot to chew on here. For those critical of his typical sound, this may be a welcome display of sonic depth.

Gunna Stuns On “turned your back”

Then there’s the “Banking On Me” rhymer’s performance, which is similarly versatile. A harmonized chorus lands on a somber melody, complemented by more tuneful flows throughout his verses. Still, he speaks on topics of betrayal, disloyalty, and disappointment with a resigned focus and almost tender vocal approach. It’s not unlike anything he’s done before, and will be right in many’s comfort zone. Still, this joins the ranks of “back to the moon” as a serious highlight on a Gift & a Curse, albeit for very different reasons. Check the album out on your preferred streaming service and peep some notable bars down below. Let us know what you think of the project down in the comments below. Jack Harlow’s “Gang Gang Gang” Disappears In New Music Video

One of the standout moments on Jack Harlow’s latest album Jackman is the track “Gang Gang Gang,” which just received a somber music video. In it, the Louisville MC addresses the situation that arises when longtime friends are found guilty or accused of horrible crimes, with the lyrics specifically focusing on sexual assault and child molestation. While many have debated whether his approach and analysis truly delves deep into that topic and does it justice, it’s still an emotive and important moment of conversation and reflection on the project. In its visual accompaniment, the cinematography and sequencing paints the narrative in a more vivid way.

The first two verses’ visuals are bookended with black-and-white clips of Jack Harlow and his friends hanging out together for the chorus. “Ride for my dawgs, lie for my dawgs, die for my dawgs,” he melodically raps. The video’s sections for the verses themselves depict the situations they narrate: Jack speaking to someone who tells him of their longtime friend’s crimes. It switches between the artist’s disbelief, speaking his raps word-for-word as in conversation, and flashback clips to their younger days.

Jack Harlow’s “Gang Gang Gang” Music Video

Overall, the Eliel Ford-directed visual contains some striking imagery. One particular shot that stands out is a car moving into an empty moonlit parking lot and stopping as Jack Harlow raps about his friend Marcus’ assault allegations. It’s dark and ominous, as is the one of Jack riding in a car with two friends who disappear in the next shot. You may have your thoughts on the track itself, but the video’s message points more firmly towards denouncing these actions rather than defending them. Many frames towards the end dedicate themselves to depicting those affected by these crimes and not the friendships left behind.

Regardless of your take on “Gang Gang Gang,” the 25-year-old is very grateful for the support and love fans gave him for Jackman. His talents, perspective, and personal sense of self will likely continue to hone themselves and grow from here, as he showed on every subsequent project so far. Furthermore, we should be expecting more great things to come from him in the future, and more potent reflections on these topics. For the latest news and updates on Jack Harlow, stick around on HNHH.

Coi Leray Proposes All-Female Rap Song For First Number One Hip-Hop Hit Of 2023

It seems like her near-beef with Latto over a misinterpreted lyric has really informed Coi Leray’s perspective. Moreover, she just took to Twitter to lament the fact that there still hasn’t been a number one rap song in 2023, and she has a plan to change that. What is it? Well, it consists of bringing together as many female rappers as possible for a ladies night of camaraderie, pure talent, and the ultimate collaborative spirit. “Ain’t been a #1 rap song at all this year,” the Boston native began her message. “Calling all the female rappers to front. Here me out. ladies night. Hip hop. Unity. #splash let’s make history with a number 1 … together .. with love. #justanidea.”

In addition, she also responded to fan questions and backlash. For example, one fan pointed out that there are simply too many out there to make a cohesive great song in time. “Someone of us can share verses,” Coi Leray suggested. “Split it up. Back and forth. Adlibs.” Another said that they don’t want unity, but rather beef. While Coi called that “distasteful and weird,” it’s unfortunately a prevailing attitude among not just fans, but plenty of artists alike right now.

Coi Leray’s Proposition For An All-Femcee Number One Song

How many times have outlets like ours reported on the latest beef between rappers or their fanbases across genders, including Coi Leray herself? Egos are big, the attention and money that beef makes is even bigger, and especially female rappers are unfortunately pitted against each other thanks to misogynistic stereotypes and an unfortunate inability to “play with the boys” as a result. The perception of there being one hot female rapper at a time is quickly vanishing, but fanbases and outlets are far too quick to make them step on each other to reach an elevated status at all.

Regardless, the 26-year-old has more music to look forward to in the future regardless of whether this single works out. Her upcoming sophomore album COI has a lot of singles under its belt already, and many are excited to see what she brings to the table. Hopefully her tweets plant the seeds for a banger to come, especially one that shows that the women in rap are leading the way right now. Denver Nuggets Win 2023 NBA Finals, Their First In Franchise History

This year’s NBA Finals, as chaotic as they surely were for many fans, brought the league a lot of standout moments and great displays of basketball. Of the entire season, though, few will stack up to a 47-year franchise reaching (and winning) their first title in history. The Denver Nuggets, composed of Nikola Jokić, Jamal Murray, and many other great players, just beat the Miami Heat in the fifth game of their series in their home of Colorado. Undeniably, it was quite the nail-biting affair as both teams fought hard in what ended up being just a five-point difference. It’s always bittersweet to see the season come to a close, but it’s also amazing to see such milestones for such hard-working teams.

Of course, the series wouldn’t have been complete without the amazing skills of The Joker. Jokić won the Bill Russell Finals Most Valuable Player trophy. It’s also the first award that was given to a Finals MVP after Russell’s passing, and as league commissioner Adam Silver said, it’s fitting that it was to a center. In addition, plenty of flowers showered upon Jamal Murray, who just two years prior was barely able to walk.

Denver Nuggets Earns Its First NBA Title In History

On the other hand, the Miami Heat proved as the 2023 Eastern Champions that they wouldn’t go down without a fight. Jimmy Butler nabbed some incredible clutch threes throughout the game and it was overall a hard-fought battle. Both teams showed each other a lot of respect throughout the series, as misleading as the final 4-1 series may seem. Considering that they were an eighth seed in the post-season, their run all the way to the Finals was truly remarkable as well. Most importantly for fans, it was an overall great display of the game, and certainly an emotive moment for the Denver Nuggets.

Now that they nabbed their first Finals trophy in franchise history, it will be interesting to see how the next season plays out. Amid rumors that LeBron James is considering retirement and other massive shifts in the association, the guesses and predictions will flood in quick. For now, though, it would be a special moment to see any team win after a fantastic game, so congratulations are due to the Denver Nuggets and the Miami Heat.
