03 Greedo Flexes New Chain & British Accent On IG, Drake Approves

If there’s one thing we know that Drake loves by now, it’s an accent. The 36-year-old most frequently gives us his best British and Jamaican impressions. However, there have been a few others over the years as well. Putting on a show is obviously one of his favourite pastimes. Nevertheless, Champagne Papi also enjoys seeing others try their hand at different ways of speaking. Just last week, it was 03 Greedo who caught the Canadian’s attention with his antics in a post shared on Instagram by Nef The Pharaoh.

“Today on Chain Chain television, we’ve got two kilos of diamonds on my neck,” the recently freed rapper declares in a pompous voice as the camera records him showing off a huge chain. “And what we’re doing right now? We’re balling on these b**ch ass ni**as,” Greedo adds with a laugh, blinding viewers with his luxury jewelry. “I’m sorry, if you’re in a relationship we’re changing that,” he suavely noted to any women watching.

Afterward, Greedo made it clear that if anyone out there is looking to be loved in a romantic way, he just may be the man for them. The hilarious clip has gotten nearly 7.5K likes, and thousands of comments from people reacting to the 35-year-old. One of them came from Drake. He wrote, “This was needed today,” leading Nef The Pharoah to pin him at the very top of the post. “I appreciate it gang 🖤,” the latter wrote back.

Drake seems to be in surprisingly positive spirits considering a handful of his previously unreleased tracks surfaced online today. Two of the seven are rumoured to be on the Toronto native’s upcoming For All The Dogs album, though nothing has been confirmed at this time. 03 Greedo, Gillie & Wallo Debate Whether There’s An Old Age Limit In Rap

On the latest episode of the Million Dollaz Worth Of Game podcast, Gillie and Wallo hosted 03 Greedo. Moreover, the Watts rapper recently released his first project after his release from prison, titled Halfway There. However, their conversation sparked debate within the hip-hop community for other reasons, brought about by Greedo chastising an unknown person for wanting to start rapping at age 42. Furthermore, Gillie explained why there is an age limit in rap when it comes to how old you can be on the mic. According to Da King, there’s a certain point where you just have to give it up in a young man’s game.

“F***ing right there’s an age limit to rap,” Gillie began his argument. “If you ain’t poppin’ by a certain age, let that s**t go. Motherf***ers be like all the time, ‘Yo Gil, your platform crazy, this the perfect time drop something now.’ Shut the f**k up, man. F**k is you talking about? Do I look like a n***a that’s holding onto yesterday, n***a? Or do I look like a n***a that’s elevating? And escalating, n***a. And glowing and growing. What the f**k is wrong with you?

Gillie Makes His Case For Ageism In Hip-Hop

“‘Let me drop another debut album at 46,’” Gillie continued as 03 Greedo and Wallo listened. “Get the f**k out of here. That is not me. That is for n***as that can only rap. F**k all that. I got bigger and better s**t that I’m gon’ climb and try to climb and get to. I’m not no n***a that’s trying to live no throwback Thursday, man. If you ain’t got no traction at all by a certain age and you still doing this s**t… loser.”

Regardless of how you might feel about that debate, it’s always something tough to navigate. Furthermore, the divide between old heads and the new generation can often feel quite hostile. 03 Greedo Announces ‘Another Purple Summer’ Tour

Freshly sprung from legal issues, 03 Greedo is looking to get back to work, announcing Another Purple Summer Tour. The set of dates is Greedo’s first tour headlining shows since 2018.

Nearly five years to the day after his last performance in 2018, the tour begins on June 16 at The Novo in Los Angeles. It then continues this summer with concerts in Oakland and San Diego. On Friday, April 21st, at 10 am PT, tickets for Another Purple Summer will go on sale (LA | OAK | SD).

The Cali rap legend has had a busy year that has included many albums, noteworthy concerts, and more. Another Purple Summer is the latest entry into the run. Greedo most recently released Halfway There, his first album of entirely new music since 2018. Halfway There, recorded at Houston’s Sugar Hill Studios in the months following his January release, benefits from Greedy’s never-ending supply of melodies and unrivaled capacity to produce fully realized songs in a matter of minutes.

03 Greedo Announces His New Album ‘Halfway There’ Featuring Ty Dolla Sign, Babyface Ray, And More

03 Greedo made his triumphant return last week with the release of the song “Bacc Like I Never Left.” It followed the rapper’s five years in prison. In February, he revealed how much music he’d worked on behind bars: “50 songs in my first 5 nights in the studio after 5 years in prison…and they all bang,” he wrote on Instagram,. “You peoples ain’t got no excuse.”

Now the video for “Bacc Like I Never Left” is out and he’s announced where that new material went: A new album called Halfway There, arriving as soon as this Friday (March 24). It has producers like Lex Luger, Harry Fraud, and Sledgren, plus features from artists such as Ty Dolla Sign, Babyface Ray, Maxo Kream, and Rich The Kid.

In January, Greedo shared an update on his situation: “For anyone confused I am in a halfway house for up to 6 months with a five minute phone call a week,” he wrote. “Where I am I just want to see my daughter and record music. I wish I could have released alot more music while I was away. So, I have this chip on my shoulder to just go record n drop at least 12 tapes before my major album and I honestly just don’t want to talk to alot of people yet.”

03 Greedo Celebrates His Freedom With “Bacc Like I Never Left”

03 Greedo, whose real name is Jason Jamal Jackson, came back strong with his song “Bacc Like I Never Left.”  The rapper, who is known for his willingness to experiment with different styles and his introspective lyrics, was sentenced to 20 years in prison on drug and possession charges in 2018. The rapper didn’t let that affect his career and still released music while incarcerated. He was able to cement his position on the hip-hop scene despite being in jail.

His 2019 album “Still Summer in the Projects” was met with widespread critical acclaim. 03 Greedo was released on January 12, 2023, and “Bacc Like I Never Left.” is a celebration of this. The rapper raps about his triumphant return over a spirited beat produced by “Gucci Gang” producer Bighead. He also raps about women, money, and jewelry on the track.

03 Greedo Is Back

Greedo opens the song by saying that he’s back like he never left, a clear reference to the fact that he’s now out of jail. ”Now I’m back like I never left. [?] I step /I got stripes like a f***ing ref, my hood I’ma rep./ Throwing racks, running up a check, still ain’t had no sex” boasts the rapper. The rapper’s boasts don’t end there. In the song’s first verse, he says, “Hopping out the Aston, highest fashion, diamonds flashing. / I’ma need a model who bе posting all my captions.” 

He also makes it a point to brag about his gangster exploits in the song’s second verse. “Now I’m back, pulled up with the MAC. / Drummers get you clapped. /In the back of a fucking Lac and this bitch all black. / Don’t get smacked, we don’t get attacked, we ain’t getting jacked.” The first person to report on Greedo’s release was Jeff Weiss on January 8. He tweeted, “Out of respect for Greedo’s right to break the news however he wants to break it, I can’t officially confirm anything. 03 Greedo Asks Media To Stop Calling Him An L.A. Rapper

When it comes to hip-hop media and news coverage, people try their best to remedy mistakes and avoid them. However, especially when it comes to how to represent other artists, slip-ups happen and should be treated with respect and proper care. Moreover, 03 Greedo took to his Instagram story to ask media outlets to stop referring to him as an L.A. rapper.

Of course, that’s technically the case, but the 35-year-old specifically reps the neighborhood of Watts. Furthermore, Greedo still made his love for the greater Los Angeles county clear.

“To all the media people’s,” his post began. “Yes. love California and the county of Los Angeles. And will bring my area to the top of the game this year. BUT I Am Not From LA!! (The city) NO!! I am From Watts. So La Rapper is not how y’all finna introduce me cuz.”

To be fair, such a mistake is one that even this writer made in previous reports. Still, it’s heartening to see Greedo speak his truth and clarify things as he gears up for a big year. While the conditions behind his release are murky, he still recently confirmed that he’s out of jail. However, things are easier said than done.

Los Angeles rapper 03 Greedo was released from a Texas prison last week after serving five of a twenty-year sentence. The rapper was sentenced in 2018 after taking a plea deal for gun and drug charges. On Sunday, Greedo took to Instagram where he shared with his fans an update since his release, saying that he’s still not completely out just yet.

“Yes, I am free from prison but I am still not completely out,” he wrote. “For anyone confused I am in a halfway house for up to 6 months with a five-minute phone call a week. Where I am I just want to see my daughter and record music. I wish I could have released alot more music while I was away.”

He went on to say that he’s going to record and drop 12 mixtapes before he drops a major album. “So, I have this chip on my shoulder to just go record n drop at least 12 tapes before my major album and I honestly just don’t want to talk to alot of people yet. I got a lot I want to clear in my head first. So, if I’m not recording with you or laying with you.”

He ended, saying: “I’m not inna rush to talk after damn near 5 years. Just being honest! Salute to the GeeHive and all my supporters, I love you. Thank u for keeping me alive while I was incarcerated. Yours Truly, Cheeto.”

Greedo was arrested in Texas in 2018 after being caught by authorities found four pounds of meth and two stolen pistols in his car. He was arrested and possibly faced 300 years for first-degree possession of a controlled substance and third-degree unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon. However, Greedo was only sentenced to 20 years and was released after 5.
