SZA & Doja Cat’s “Kill Bill (Remix)”: Review

SZA has recruited Doja Cat for a remix of her song “Kill Bill.” The original song comes from SZA’s latest album SOS which was a big release for the Top Dawg Entertainment songstress. After months of anticipation, teases, mixed messages, and more, it was released on December 9, 2022. SZA promoted the album with a tour and has been taking to stages from coast to coast.

“Kill Bill” was one of the biggest songs on the album, with the name generating buzz before people even heard the song. The title was inspired by Quentin Tarantino’s famed franchise of the same name. Fans have seen SZA and Doja Cat work together before for their Grammy-winning hit “Kiss It Better,” but this song differs from that one in essentially every way.

Original “Kill Bill” Music Video Pays Homage Films

SZA and Doja Cat dropped the “Kill Bill” remix on April 14. Before this, the original song was a single from the album with an accompanying music video. It was directed by Christian Breslauer. Naturally, the visual paid homage to Tarantino’s films. SZA can be seen in a red leather suit much akin to the yellow one the character named The Bride (Uma Thurman) wore in the film. The singer also rides a red motorcycle, and again, The Bride’s was yellow in the film.

Additionally, the opening moments of the video reference one of the most popular scenes in the film. There’s even an animated portion in the clip, much like the anime in the film. These are just touches of how SZA’s team made sure to lean into Tarantino’s classic.

Doja Cat Beasts Out Bars

On the remix version of SZA’s “Kill Bill,” Doja Cat provides a rapped verse. Doja recently explained wanting to focus on rap and has been hinting at a full rap album. There have also been talks of her wanting to work with Jay Versace and 9th Wonder, which the rap world knows as high-level producers. Doja doubled down on this rap-focused career path in a series of recent tweets. Amid these tweets,  there was a retweet from Jay, validating her rap skills.

In the remix, Doja’s rap verse opens the song. Her bars tell a more detailed version of the events from SZA’s original version. Although she often incorporates singing into her music, this time, she held down rapping alone. The verse has a narrative feeling and gives the song a two-part storyline. Doja’s part is the aftermath of what SZA was speaking about. Listeners know SZA’s chorus opens with “I might kill my ex,” and by the time the song ends, she has switched to “I just killed my ex.” Unfortunately, there is no change in the production for Doja’s rapped verse. After hers ends, the song is like SZA’s original solo version.

The “Kill Bill” Remix Is A Treat For Fans

There is also a creative visualizer for SZA and Doja Cat’s “Kill Bill” remix. The visual plays on a loop, with some users believing it was the Spotify Canvas Art for the remix. However, this is not the case. The visualizer features an animated character that represents Doja Cat. She is wearing a red leather suit and carrying a mace. As she walks down a path, red windows with silhouettes are behind her. Characters referencing the Crazy 88 from Kill Bill attack her as she walks, and animated Doja fights them off with her weapon. The entire look of the visualizer resembles an old-school side-scrolling video game.

Ja Morant Listed As Game-Time Decision For Game 2

Ja Morant is trending in the right direction to rejoin his team for Game 2. The Memphis star exited Game 1 of the series with the Los Angeles Lakers for a hand injury. Morant’s absence was abundantly clear as the Lakers rolled to a 128-112 victory. Now, the Grizzlies are hoping that their star guard will be available when the teams meet in Game 2 on Wednesday. However, the team doesn’t want to make a ruling on Morant until the last possible moment.

According to NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski, the Grizzlies still believe Morant will be available. “I do not sense a great deal of optimism around this Grizzlies team that Ja Morant will be ready to play in Game 2 [vs. Lakers] but they’ve not ruled him out, they’re going to take it up until tomorrow,” Woj commented during his appearance on NBA on ESPN. The Grizzlies will need all the help they can get. As the Lakers continue to improve game by game.

Ja Morant Will Need To Lead Grizzlies Over Lakers

The Western Conference has so many storylines involving the matchups. However, the biggest may be the new guard against the old. The Lakers and Warriors are underdogs to the Grizzlies and Kings. The clashing of generations has made for incredible action. But the Lakers are not ready to be put in the retirement home. The Grizzlies not having Morant will even give the Lakers more confidence as they look to avoid being sent home in the first round.

Ja Morant’s presence alone is a big factor for the Grizzlies. In the video above, you can see that Morant is all smiles as the team takes the floor. However, you can also see that Morant’s hand is being heavily wrapped. Although it would be impossible for Morant to play with his hand that protected. However, something tells me the Grizzlies star will do whatever it takes to be on the floor Wednesday night. Do you think Morant will be available for the pivotal Game 2 matchup? Jonah Hill Movies: His Funniest Roles

Looking for some hilarious Jonah Hill movies that will make you laugh out loud? Since he graced the silver screen in Judd Apatow’s The 40-Year-Old Virgin, audiences have been enthralled by his acting prowess. Initially, he made waves with his comedic performances in pictures such as Superbad and Knocked Up. However, it was only a matter of time before the star transitioned into more significant roles.

Hill has earned distinguished acknowledgments from both the Golden Globes and Academy Awards. He is frequently paired with acclaimed actors like Leonardo DiCaprio, Brad Pitt, Jennifer Lawrence, and Meryl Streep. Interestingly enough, in 2020, Hill even made history by taking the title of the most cuss words in a film—even reigning over Samuel L. Jackson. Read through some of his funniest roles to date.

7. War Dogs (2016)

War Dogs was one of Todd Phillips’ most significant works, opening Colin Farrell to become the beloved Penguin in Batman. Previously, Variety reported that Hill was initially considered for this part and could have been remarkable. Considering Phillips is pushing musical boundaries with his upcoming Joker: Folie á Deux, why not continue this innovative route and bring Hill back as a different version of Penguin? After all, he proved in War Dogs that he could expertly take up the role of an ethically challenged but ambitious and funny criminal when playing Efraim Diveroli.

6. Don’t Worry, He Won’t Get Far on Foot (2018)

Jonah Hill gives an exceptionally dynamic performance as Donnie in Gus Van Sant’s 2018 film, Don’t Worry, He Won’t Get Far on Foot. A member of Alcoholics Anonymous (AA), Donnie works with John Callahan, a quadriplegic cartoonist, to progress toward sobriety following a devastating drunk driving accident. Hill genuinely shines in every scene.

5. Forgetting Sarah Marshall (2008)

Forgetting Sarah Marshall is filled with subtle Easter eggs for eagle-eyed fans to discover, but the standout character has to be Hill’s portrayal of an avid fan of Aldous Snow (Russell Brand). He stars alongside Paul Rudd and other comedy legends in their roles at the Hawaii hotel that makes up the majority of the movie. However, Jason Segel, who plays Peter Bretter, and his journey through relationships with Sarah and Rachel Jansen (Mila Kunis) make the film stand out. Hill’s waiter/musician still manages to win each scene purely by sheer cringe factor.

4. This Is The End (2013)

Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg are two of the most resourceful comedians. They collaborated to bring us the comical disaster film This Is The End. Consequently, gathering an impressive lineup of stars such as Jonah Hill, Danny McBride, Craig Robinson, and of course Rogen himself, not to mention cameos from Rihanna, Michael Cera, and more, they provided audiences with a hilarious survival tale set in the Hollywood Hills. Hill’s over-the-top characterization of a possessed “saint” develop into a wild finale between him and the rest of the cast within this silly yet compelling context.

For these two comedy giants, This Is The End was always meant to be a movie where actors played exaggerated versions of themselves in extraordinary situations. Furthermore, It was nothing short of cinematic brilliance, a hit with viewers and critics alike.

 3. Cyrus (2010)

John C. Reilly and Marisa Tomei star in the 2010 Duplass brothers’ British dramedy Cyrus. Despite initial chemistry, their forming relationship takes an interesting turn when John meets Molly’s older son, Cyrus. Desperate for attention, Cyrus embarks on a psychological battle with his mother’s determined suitor. Hill is a force to be reckoned with, succeeding both comedically and dramatically by presenting the complexities of human emotion and the contrast of air-brushed ideals. Considered among the best Jonah Hill movies as a leading actor, the film received a warm reception upon its Sundance Film Festival premiere.

2. The Wolf of Wall Street (2013)

The Wolf of Wall Street, running close to three hours, caused a sensation, with many deeming it unrestrained. Nevertheless, it was thrilling, presenting a definitively contemptuous picture of avarice. Donnie Azoff, portrayed by Hill, fuels much of the immorality rather than Jordan Belfort (played by Leonardo DiCaprio). Azoff introduces Belfort to drugs, takes off his clothes at a bash, and alerts the FBI about their criminal activities because of his flippant style of living. Hill depicted this role skillfully – being adequately loathsome and vain yet still comedic and catchy. Hill’s performance particularly stood out.

1. Superbad (2007)

Jonah Hill and Michael Cera rose to fame with their portrayals in the 2007 coming-of-age comedy Superbad. Following two high school seniors, Seth and Evan, they set out on a mission to find liquor for a party and ultimately lose their virginity. Christopher Mintz-Plasse joined the two friends as Fogell, or McLovin, adding some of the movie’s best punchlines.

Critics and audiences alike have given Superbad rave reviews. The Los Angeles Times admired the iconic duo Laurel and Hardy-esque chemistry between Hill and Cera. Showcasing a balanced blend of humor and poignancy, Superbad still stands out as one of the best Jonah Hill movies.

Latto Denies Coachella Crowd Photoshop Allegations

Latto gave what’s been labelled as undoubtedly one of the most exciting performances at Coachella weekend one on Sunday (April 16). Still, that hasn’t stopped haters from trying to find any possible flaws. On Monday, the reality star celebrated her major W with a photo dump shared on Twitter. It consists of selfies, snapshots of her outfit, and finally, an enormous crowd watching on as she stood in front of them. Not long after her post went up, Latto was hit with zoomed in screenshots of the bottom right image. Upon inspection, some are accusing her of photoshopping it to make the audience at her show look bigger.

“That crowd tho! Wow. Goals 🙏,” one person wrote along with receipts that show them same face in the crowd twice. This hate train isn’t as massive as others Latto has conquered as of late. However, it’s likely exhausting for her to take on such constant criticism nonetheless. Thankfully, the 24-year-old is an undeniably resiliant spirit, and often addresses the gossip circulating about her online with a tough attitude. After seeing the negative response to her “LATTOCHELLA” post, she took thinks over to Instagram to speak her mind with a Story.

Latto Shares Photos from Coachella

“Never photoshopped a crowd lmao, I expanded it so it would fit in my Instagram swipe without getting cut off,” the Atlanta-based artist wrote earlier this afternoon. “It was clearly f*cked up so I didn’t end up using it and just posted the wrong version by accident on Twitter babes 🥰. Next,” Latto’s message ended. Since she’s spoken out, it seems as though many are taking the “Lottery” hitmaker’s side in the spat, calling the behaviour of those accusing her of editing “weird.”

“This is just weird in general… Everyone knows how packed Coachella is,” one IG user wrote in @theneighborhoodtalk’s comments. “I saw videos from a fan in the crowd from her set. Idk how she can do it, y’all be hating on these female rappers like crazy! They can’t make a mistake, gotta be perfect etc. I’d be tired if I was her.” Read more about what went down during Latto’s performance here, and check back later for more pop culture news updates.

Colin Cowherd’s Hot Take On James Harden

Colin Cowherd is making waves with his latest comments on Sixers star James Harden. On Tuesday’s episode of Herd w/Colin Cowherd, the radio host went at Harden’s struggles in the opening round series with the Brooklyn Nets. Cowherd went as far as to say that Harden has become a glorified role player for Philadelphia. The definition of a role player is hard to describe as a former league MVP. However, Harden’s performance in Game 2 of the Sixers-Nets series does leave a lot to be desired.

Harden finished the game with just 8 points in nearly 40 minutes of a play. It doesn’t help that Harden was also second in turnovers on the team, with five. However, Cowherd believes there is a lot that has gone into the dropping in performance by Harden. One of those things is how Harden has treated his body during his playing career. Cowherd credits Tom Brady and LeBron James for how they take care of their bodies during the season. Now, Cowherd doesn’t believe that what Harden does off the court is wrong. But he does see it as a factor in how Harden has performed as he has aged.

Colin Cowherd Doesn’t Have Faith In Harden

Harden’s playoff performances have gotten worse as time has gone on. His points-per-game average has become drastically worse in just four years. In order for the Sixers to contend for the NBA Finals, they will need to see glimpses of the old Harden. In the current series with the Nets, the Sixers have gone to Tyrese Maxey as their second scoring option. Maxey finished game two as the leading scorer for the Sixers. The former Kentucky star dropped 33 points in the presence of his college coach John Calipari.

To win the NBA Finals, a team must see great performances from everyone who sees the court. However, Harden has yet to deliver a great performance in the first two games of the opening round. Does Colin Cowherd have a point about Harden’s current role in Philadelphia? Can the Sixers win the championship without more of an impact from Harden? Let us know your thoughts in the comment section. For the latest NBA news, keep it locked in here with HNHH.
