Fat Trel & KP Skywalka “Hit The Breaks” To Start 2025

The DMV impacts the new year immediately with a buzzing collaboration by the area’s brightest rap stars, Fat Trel and KP Skywalka. In the new single, “Hit The Breaks,” stories from the streets tell of broke teens doing what it takes to make some money and how vicious it can be to survive in the DMV. KP Skywalka glamorous the street politics while Fat Trel flexes his muscles, provocating anyone to try and test pride.

The song’s attraction resides in its signature lingo. It’s ambitious, clever, and aggressive. While Fat Trel has established himself as a superstar, KP’s magnetic wordplay and demeanor deliver intrigue. Fans will surely explore his other tracks after hearing his show-stealing verses on “Hit The Breaks.” For Fat Trel, the new collaboration follows his 2024 return with Boosa’s Keeper. The album cover features a vintage photo of Trel’s childhood friend, Darrell “Boosa Da Shotta” Marshall, who was tragically killed in 2021. Trel pays tribute to his late friend throughout the project. It features IDK, Skilla Baby, EST Gee, and Millyz.

KP Skywalka released two albums in 2024. Free Car Pistol features Fat Motion, KP Gretzky, Skino, and Lil Dude. Back To Granny’s features buzzing Detroit rap star Peezy. Skywalka’s best-known tracks include “Inna Mix,” “Tyfreka,” and “Granny House.” His forthcoming album is slated for 2025.

Xzibit Was Involved In A Tour Bus Shooting With Big Pun, Here’s How It Went Down

Xzibit has the wildest Big Pun story. The legendary rap star shares an unforgettable story involving the Bronx icon from the early days. In a new interview, Bootleg Kev asks Xzibit to tell a Pun story. X tells the wildest night on tour with Pun and Terror Squad. X began by recounting a promotional tour where their two buses were traveling across the East Coast en route to Detroit or Flint. When Pun’s bus broke down, he and his family joined X’s. “I knew the day was going to get wild,” Xzibit said. “But I had no idea how far things would spiral.”

The drama began when Pun’s crew, eager to leave the bus and head to their hotel, called for a car. “This old-school guy with a Jheri curl pulls up in a limousine,” Xzibit recalled. “He steps out with an attitude, clearly unhappy with the situation. He starts shouting, ‘All you can’t get in my car!’” Things quickly escalated as Pun’s crew, the Terror Squad, swarmed the car. “It was like watching a silent movie,” Xzibit said, laughing. “The guy’s running around the car while the entire crew chases him. It was chaos, but hilarious.”

Xzibit Shares Wild Day Out With Big Pun

Later that night, the tension boiled over during their concert. On stage with Pun was Boobie the Boxer, a member of the Terror Squad, who appeared to be addressing someone in the front row. “Then someone throws something, and suddenly a fight breaks out,” Xzibit said. “The fight moves onto the stage, and in the middle of it all, someone pulls a gun out of a briefcase and fires into the air. Bow!”

Panic erupted as the audience scattered. Amid the chaos, the crew managed to escape to their bus, only to find the police waiting. “The guy with the gun tosses it into a dumpster, but there’s no trash inside, so it just clanks,” Xzibit recounted. “The cops shine their flashlights, and there it is. Next thing you know, we’re all in cuffs.” Everyone made it back to their hotel, only to discover concertgoers searching for the Terror Squad. “We had to pull off a covert operation to get everyone back on the bus,” X-to-the-Z said. “They even shot at the buses. It was insane—never a dull moment.”

SZA’s “SOS” Album Makes Her The First-Ever Woman’s Hip-Hop/R&B Album To Stay #1 On The Charts For 12 Weeks

SZA can’t be stopped. The singer’s hugely successful album, SOS, continues to reign on the Billboard 200, claiming its 12th nonconsecutive week at No. 1 on the January 11 chart. The album’s resurgence follows the release of its deluxe edition, SOS Deluxe: LANA, which added 15 new tracks on December 20. Originally launched on December 9, 2022, as a 23-track project, SOS previously spent 10 weeks dominating the chart in late 2022 and early 2023. Billboard combines all album versions for tracking, which helps sustain its remarkable run.

In the week ending January 2, SOS earned 130,000 equivalent album units in the United States, a 27% drop from the previous week, according to Luminate. Streaming activity accounted for the bulk of this total, representing 166.31 million on-demand streams. The album also retains its top spot on the Top Streaming Albums chart. With 12 weeks at No. 1, SOS has achieved the longest reign for an R&B or R&B/hip-hop album by a woman since Whitney Houston’s self-titled debut, which led for 14 weeks in 1986. The last R&B/hip-hop album to notch at least 12 weeks at No. 1 was Drake’s Views, which led for 13 nonconsecutive weeks in 2016.

Last week, the holiday releases dominated the top 10 and much of the top 100. Now, albums from major artists reclaim their spots, despite slight week-over-week declines in activity. Kendrick Lamar’s GNX, a former No. 1, climbs to No. 2 with 70,000 units, while Sabrina Carpenter’s Short n’ Sweet leaps to No. 3, earning 56,000 units. Taylor Swift’s The Tortured Poets Department slips to No. 6 with 44,000 units, while Chappell Roan’s The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess moves to No. 7 with 41,000.

Over the weekend, SZA shared she has two albums left with TDE. Her desire is to create two children’s albums with her last two. Her first film, One of Them Days, hits theaters on January 24.

Adam22 Confronts Wack100 About Being “Unapologetic” Over Recent Assault At No Jumper Studios

Adam22 and Wack 100 addressed the viral brawl that took place at the No Jumper Studios last week in the latest episode of their podcast. In a confrontation, Adam accuses Wack of being the “mastermind” behind the violent attack and sensationalizes it based on Wack’s demeanor. “I would start with the fact that there was a pretty vicious assault that took place at my facility, and you [Wack] seem weirdly unapologetic about it,” says Adam to Wack. “You don’t seem terribly concerned about it. Whereas for me, this has been a significant source of bad press as well as a potential legal risk..”

Wack 100 defended himself against Adam’s assumption, saying, “Bad press?! Bro, my mother, my grandmother, R&B’s ex-husband, we’re sorry for Wack getting his a$$-whopped. I’m the one now that got his a$$-whopped. Talking about bad press.” Wack is claiming that social media believed it was him being assaulted and stripped during the melee outside of the No Jumper Studios. It has been proven that it was not Wack being assaulted in the viral footage.

Adam22 & Wack100 Argues About Viral Brawl At No Jumper

Adam proceeds to identify Wack with “Main Character Syndrome.” “See, you making it about the fact that some people thought it was you getting beat up is important,” Adam replied. “That’s an important thing to highlight here. Who the f*ck cares that people thought you got beat up? Obviously, that’s not even true. But you’re posting about this nonstop. Making it all about yourself… It’s about that the assault took place at my facility in the first place.”

The heated exchange would continue, with Wack denying that he excessively promoted the assault footage. Prior to the podcast, Adam22 issued an official statement that banned all parties involved from the No Jumper Studios. The podcaster expressed that he does not condone any violence at his facility. With the belief he was among the banned, Wack 100 shared an Instagram post that stated he and Adam22 have a contract and he will be at No Jumper as scheduled to podcast and honor the contract’s agreements.
