Meek Mill wants his name cleared. Hitting X, he offered $100,000 to an investigative team to find evidence linking him to Diddy’s legal troubles. The message came in response to frequent accusations and jokes flying across social media.

“I wanna hire an investigative team 100k cash to find out every specific detail involving meek mill name to ‘Diddy’ case,” Meek wrote. “I also want them to look at who is powering the media involving ‘meek’ anything to do with buddy!

“‘Something not right,’” he finished.

And then he was joked into oblivion.

Man Convicted in Murder of PnB Rock Sentenced to 31 Years to Life in Prison

A Los Angeles County judge sentenced Freddie Lee Trone, 42, to 31 years to life in prison for his role in the murder of rapper PnB Rock, according to CBS News. Last month, a jury found Trone guilty of murder, conspiracy to commit robbery, and two counts of second-degree robbery.

Prosecutors argued that Trone directed his 17-year-old son to shoot and kill PnB Rock, whose real name was Rakim Allen, while the rapper was dining with his fiancée at Roscoe’s House of Chicken & Waffles in South Los Angeles in 2022. Trone’s son entered the restaurant, demanded Allen’s jewelry, and fatally shot him.

Despite video evidence showing Trone in the parking lot shortly before the shooting, he denied involvement, claiming he was there to conduct business for his nearby beauty shop. However, the jury ultimately convicted him of the charges.

“I want to extend my deepest condolences to the family, friends, and fans of Rakim Allen,” District Attorney George Gascón said. “His life was cut short by an act of violence that no family should have to endure.”

Trone’s son, now 19, has also been charged but remains in custody as the court evaluates his competency to stand trial.

A co-defendant, Tremont Jones, was convicted of two counts of robbery and conspiracy to commit robbery in connection with the same incident. However, Jones was not charged with murder and was sentenced to 12 years in prison.

Future’s ‘Mixtape Pluto’ Set for 120-135K First Week

Future Releases Highly Anticipated 'MIXTAPE PLUTO,'

Future is making a play for No. 1 on the Billboard charts with his new drop, Mixtape Pluto. According to Hits Daily Double, the release will pull in between 120-135,000 album-equivalent units.

Diamond-certified, three-time GRAMMY® Award-winning hip-hop star Future continues his unstoppable streak with the release of MIXTAPE PLUTO on Sept. 20. The 17-track project, a nod to Future’s raw essence, also arrives alongside the official music video for “TOO FAST,” directed by Kid Art. Set against the backdrop of Harlem, NYC, the visual reflects the highs and lows of Future’s whirlwind lifestyle.

MIXTAPE PLUTO was executive produced by 808 Mafia’s Southside, with Wheezy serving as co-executive producer. Paying tribute to the legendary Dungeon Family and the late Rico Wade, the album cover showcases infrared purple lighting beaming from the Dungeon Family house in Atlanta, where Future’s musical journey began in Wade’s mother’s basement. The mixtape, notably without guest features, showcases Future’s unfiltered artistry and lyrical prowess.

In addition to the digital release, exclusive merchandise and physical versions of MIXTAPE PLUTO are available on freebandz.com. Fans can purchase limited-edition t-shirts, CDs, and two vinyl variants—black and green—featuring 11 key tracks from the album.

This project follows the massive success of Future’s earlier collaborations with Metro Boomin, WE DON’T TRUST YOU and WE STILL DON’T TRUST YOU, both of which topped the charts. These albums cemented Future’s dominance in 2024, with the single “Like That” featuring Kendrick Lamar spending three weeks at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100.

MIXTAPE PLUTO represents Future’s return to his roots, offering fans a pure distillation of his sound and influence. Stripped down and unapologetically authentic, the mixtape is a powerful statement from one of hip-hop’s most inventive and influential figures, solidifying his legacy as he closes out an iconic year.

Grammy Award-winning producer and So So Def Recordings founder Jermaine Dupri unveiled a new internship opportunity for Emory University students during his keynote address at the inaugural Ideas Festival on September 20. The internship, set for spring 2025, will offer two undergraduates the chance to work directly with Dupri and his record label, gaining real-world experience while earning academic credit.

“I’ve always been a person that gives younger individuals and people who want to be in this business a chance,” says Jermaine Dupri. “I’m looking for superstars that are not on the stage and I hope that I can find them in this So So Def/Emory intern partnership.”

“Experiential learning opportunities outside the classroom are critical for Emory students to extend their knowledge,” says Branden Grimmett, vice provost for career and professional development and associate dean in Emory College of Arts and Sciences, who is working with Bridgette Gunnels, associate dean and director of Oxford College’s Center for Pathways and Purpose, to develop and administer the internship. “I am thrilled Jermaine Dupri is partnering with Emory to provide a unique and transformative learning experience for our students to explore the music industry.”

Eligible students from Emory College, Oxford College, Goizueta Business School, and the School of Nursing can apply later this fall. Dupri will collaborate with faculty mentors throughout the program.

“We are committed to creating meaningful connections between innovators, creators, and students,” says Carter. “This internship is a perfect example of the kind of knowledge sharing that bridges the gap between ideas and application, giving students a unique opportunity to engage with experts in a hands-on, impactful way.”

Hosted by Emory’s Center for Public Scholarship and Engagement at Oxford College, the Ideas Festival connected students with innovative thought leaders, musicians, and scholars, including Dupri, who discussed Atlanta’s influence on global hip-hop culture. The festival, which ran through September 22, featured over 40 speakers and various events, celebrating the intersections of art, science, and entrepreneurship.

DJ Paul, Kordhell And Krayzie Bone Get Ominous On New Anthem “KNIGHTS”

DJ Paul and Kordhell have an entire album in the works. These two may seem like unlikely collaborators in theory, but both have an affinity for the ominous. Paul with his Three 6 Mafia production, and Kordhell with his atmospheric albums. Together they are going to drop a project with lots of musical character, and the lead single, “KNIGHTS,” bears this out. The duo create an absolutely menacing vibe on the song, which is furthered by the involvement of the legendary Krayzie Bone.

The manipulation of voices is notable from the song’s opening moments. DJ Paul’s vocals are overlaid in such a way that they embellish the overall creepiness. The Kordhell influence is strong in this regard. We also get to hear instruments come in and out of the mix. There are strings that burst in during the chorus, which only furthers the feeling that we’re listening to something out of a Dirty South haunted house. The Bone-Thugs-N-Harmony rapper blends so seamlessly into the mix that you might even bypass his verse without even realizing it. DJ Paul and Kordhell are creating something unique here, and we can’t wait to see how it translates to a full project.
