Judge Mathis’ Marriage on the Rocks: Linda Mathis Moves Forward with Divorce

Screen Shot 2024 09 06 at 4.13.49 AM

Last week, Judge Mathis made headlines when he vowed to reconcile with his wife, Linda Mathis, after she filed to end their 39-year marriage. Despite his intentions, it appears that Linda is resolute in her decision to move forward with the divorce.

According to court documents obtained by In Touch, Linda Mathis, 61, has taken the next step in the dissolution of their marriage by hiring a process server to personally serve her husband with divorce papers. The process server delivered the paperwork to their $5 million home in Beverly Hills at 10:30 a.m., ensuring that Judge Mathis, 64, received the documents just one day after Linda filed for divorce on August 22.

The couple, who have been married for nearly four decades, are parting ways due to “irreconcilable differences,” as cited in Linda’s petition. She listed the official date of their separation as July 17. While their marriage has produced four adult children—Amir, Jade, Greg Jr., and Camara—the issues of custody and child support are not factors in the divorce proceedings.

In her filing, Linda has requested spousal support from Judge Mathis and asked that he be cut off from any financial support. As the legal process unfolds, it remains to be seen how the couple, who have shared a long and public relationship, will navigate the end of their marriage.

Judge Mathis, known for his long-running television show where he dispenses justice with a blend of sternness and humor, now finds himself facing a personal challenge off-screen. Whether his vow to reconcile will lead to any change in the proceedings is uncertain, but for now, Linda Mathis seems determined to move forward.

Pharrell Enlists Lil Wayne, Lil Yachty And Kyle Richh For “Can’t Hold Me Down”

Pharrell knows what he’s doing. He’s one of the most revered producers in the world, and he’s made hits for longer than some of his collaborators have been alive. Despite his longevity, Pharrell always finds new ways to push his sound. He has his signature four count, but past that, there’s little similarities between his different eras. “Can’t Hold Me Down,” the artist’s latest single, is another bold step forward. He brings Lil Wayne, Lil Yachty and Kyle Richh into the mix for a song driven by bombastic synth lines.

“Can’t Hold Me Down” has a blunt force instrumental. Once it gets going, it doesn’t stop. This means the rappers on the track have to match its energy. Kyle Richh’s husky voice is a perfect match for Pharrell’s beat, firing off one quotable after another. Lil Yachty is the wild card, given how warbly and goofy his vocals can tend to sound. That said, Boat manages to hold the middle verse down while delivering the chorus. The chorus is arguably the weakest part of the song, as it just reverts to repeating the title. Lil Wayne comes rolls through to absolutely crush the last verse, though. Weezy continues to prove that nobody can be as consistently eccentric and clever, and he gets the song across the finish line.

ASAP Rocky And J. Cole’s Murky, Alchemist-Produced ‘Ruby Rosary’ Is A Dirge For Their Enemies

J. Cole has been lying low for the past few months, but thanks to ASAP Rocky, he’s back with a vengeance. The two blog era vets team up on “Ruby Rosary,” a mournful dirge for their foes produced by The Alchemist. There’s a lot of wordplay on this record, which features a murky beat just subtle enough to give them a lot of room to work. The Alchemist had previously hinted that he might have produced for J. Cole, and while this pays off a bit of that promise, it’s still not quite The Fall-Off… which means there may be more on the way.

“Ruby Rosary” is the second song Rocky dropped after delaying his album Don’t Be Dumb. Before this, Rocky dropped “Tailor Swif” despite the record previously leaking and his promise to keep any leaked tracks off the album.

While Rocky didn’t give a reason for delaying the album, he did say it had a surprising co-sign; “I sat, and I played the album for Tim Burton, and he was f*cking with it heavy,” he told Billboard. “He was rocking his head and he’s like, ‘Wow! I didn’t know you made that kind of music!’”

Megan Thee Stallion Teams Up With BTS’ RM On The Assertive ‘Neva Play’

Megan Thee Stallion raps in Japanese with Yuki Chiba on her current hot single, “Mamushi,” but on her latest, she takes a trip to a neighboring country for another international collab. Meg teased “Neva Play,” the upcoming collaboration with BTS member RM, earlier this week, saying, “I’ve never heard him rap in this style before.” Now, we all get to hear his verse for ourselves. And, of course, the song comes with a video heavily inspired by Meg’s love for anime.

“Neva Play” is the second time Meg’s worked with the K-pop star, the first being her guest verse on the remix of BTS’ 2021 hit single, “Butter.” Meg and BTS had been teasing their reunion for the past two weeks, sharing emoji-filled posts to pique their fans’ interest in the upcoming collaboration. Although BTS has been on hiatus as a group owing to members’ mandatory military service, they’ve apparently banked more than enough material to keep their fans fed until the group’s return in 2025.

Among those projects is RM’s solo album, Right Place, Wrong Person, which dropped in May, and a travel show featuring Jung Kook and Jimin, Are You Sure?!

Meanwhile, Meg continues to promote her new album Megan, along with projects including a remix of Queen’s “We Will Rock You” for the NFL, a potential joint tape with GloRilla, and a hosting and performing gig at the MTV VMAs. She also just hard-launched her relationship with NBA player Torrey Craig. For now, though, you can check out “Neva Play” above.

Megan Thee Stallion And RM Make For An Unlikely Pair On “Neva Play”

Megan Thee Stallion loves to expand her musical palate. She may be known for a particular brand of hard hitting Houston, but she has worked with tons of artists in other genres. Megan keeps the trend going by linking up with RM for the single “Neva Play.” The rapper hyped up the joint song well before its release, claiming that RM has never “rapped in this style” before. It was unclear if this new style would blend with Megan Thee Stallion’s singular delivery. Fortunately, the concerns were for not. “Neva Play” is a catchy, nimble piece of pop-rap that features impressive flows from both artists.

The beat is ridiculously catchy, for starters. Megan Thee Stallion immediately hops on the track and lays out the chorus, before slipping into her verse. She gives RM a shout out, and skates on the back end of her verse as the drums fade in and out. RM is the variable on “Neva Play,” and he manages the rare feat of sounding different while maintaining his central appeal. BTS fans will still hear the rapper they’ve been in love with for years, but the production brings a speedier, more aggressive side out of him. Credit to Megan Thee Stallion for bringing the BTS superstar onto the track, when most rappers would have gone for a bigger English-speaking name. It helps “Neva Play” stand out for all the right reasons.
