Charlamagne Tha God Doesn’t Believe That ASAP Rocky Dissed Drake On J Cole Collab

We can all agree that 2024’s great rap war has made us all read a little too deeply into lyrics sometimes. We just got a key example of that thanks to ASAP Rocky and J Cole’s new collab “Ruby Rosary.” Thanks to some possibly slick lyrical references from the Harlem creative and the complex role that the Dreamville boss has played in hip-hop’s ecosystem for the past year or so, many fans think that this is a not-so-subtle diss at Drake. But Charlamagne Tha God and the rest of The Breakfast Club think that this is a bit of a reach.

J. Cole better not be dissing nobody,” Charlamagne Tha God began when the crew proposed that there might be a shot on the new song. “Oh, okay, okay, okay.” “How is that a Drake diss?” he asked when one of TBC‘s cohosts recited the lyrics that many fans are bringing up. “Oh… I mean, it sounds like he’s dissing a whole top five if he says ‘F your top five.’ I don’t know either, I think y’all just be making up stuff. *laughs* Here’s the thing. When I say it’s ‘this generation,’ I’m not just talking about y’all. It’s just the whole cycle of people. Like, the way people’s minds work is just weird. He said, ‘F your top five.’ So your top five must be Drake, Drake, Drake, Drake, and Drake.”

The Breakfast Club Speaks On ASAP Rocky, J Cole & Potential Drake Disses

But do you know what’s really funny about Charlamagne’s dismissal? There is someone whose top five is all Drake, and if you don’t know what we’re talking about, just look up “DJ Akademiks Drake Top Five” on YouTube for a laugh. Along with some other references like bars about “push ups,” A$AP Rocky fans aren’t all too misguided in drawing these connections. But the real likely scenarios are that this was all unintentional and that, even if they are references, they don’t amount to enough of a sting for this to really be an inflammatory moment. If anything, according to OVO fans, J. Cole is the one who should really be answering questions here.

Also, we already know that A$AP Rocky and Drake have beef, so them throwing possible subliminals at each other is practically worthless. The only people getting value from it are true haters of either lyricist. But we can’t pretend that all the speculation and discussion isn’t at least entertaining. After all, that reality is what allowed the biggest rap battle in at least two decades to materialize.

G Herbo Has Some Fun On “Big Swerv” Mixtape

G Herbo has focused on more pressing topics in his music over the last couple of years at times. Because of that, he’s been getting more personal on his records. However, according to HipHopDX, the Chicago drill specialist wanted to do something different this time around. “Not everybody has been in the streets. And not everybody had to experience violence to the levels that I’ve experienced violence. I was always vulnerable and talked about it through my music,” Herbo said about previous efforts. “So I want to talk about having fun, I want to talk about traveling the world, and living life, and fashion, and stuff that everybody loves, that everybody can relate to”. The latter quote from G Herbo is about his newest mixtape, Big Swerv.

You can certainly those looser vibes on songs like “Ten” with Sexyy Red, “Influence”, and “Trim”, for example. The production is still intimidating and dark, so not all of what’s made Herbo over the years is missing entirely. Big Swerv was announced in early August and only had one single released ahead of time. That was “Shoot” with rising MC Skilla Baby. Speaking of features, him and Red are just two. 21 Savage, BabyDrill, fellow Illinois native Chief Keef, and Rob49 are here too. Let us know what you think of G Herbo’s 14-song effort Big Swerv with the links below.

Quando Rondo Reacts To Rich Homie Quan’s Music Topping Charts After His Death

As the hip-hop world continues to mourn the tragically sudden death of Rich Homie Quan, many are also reflecting on his legacy as an artist. It should come as no surprise that there are probably millions of rap fans listening to him right now, reflecting on his many hits and idiosyncrasies as a performer and lyricist. But some folks think that the love for the Atlanta MC is coming off as hollow or as “fake love.” For example, Quando Rondo recently reacted via Instagram to RHQ’s music topping a chart, although it’s a bit unclear what chart it specifically is. While Quando thinks that this love is coming only because he passed away, he spoke on how he’s a longtime admirer of his.

Furthermore, Quando Rondo’s words don’t suggest in the slightest that Rich Homie Quan doesn’t deserve this support. Rather, he thinks it’s just coming off as fake, although most fans in the comments section of the post below aren’t taking it that far. They just think that people are being nostalgic for his older material. Nevertheless, Ralo is another artist who expressed similar feelings about these reactions.

Elsewhere, Rich Homie Quan’s father Corey Lamar shared a statement on his son’s passing. “Unbearable pain,” he wrote in an Instagram Story post . “Lord please please please help me to understand this. To lose my son… my 1st born, my best friend. Lord let this be a dream…. Yall pray for me and my family. I feel like I’m crushed into a million pieces.” Along with Lamar, many other loved ones, collaborators, and industry admirers have poured out their well-wishes, reflections, and parting messages in the face of this tragedy.

I wish you guys some type of prosperity,” Offset recently expressed when asked at a Billboard event if he has any words for RHQ’s family. “Some type of overcoming of it. Shout out to Rich Homie, man. That’s a day one artist right there. We all came up together in the same lab, in the same kitchen, you know what I mean? Trying to make it happen, man. That’s a tragic thing to hip-hop, man. Shout out to Rich Homie Quan, man. RIP to you and bless your family.”

Tesehki Knocks Diamond The Body’s Tooth Out At “Baddies” Reunion

Tesehki is certainly no stranger to throwing hands, and it looks like that’s exactly what happened at the Baddies Caribbean reunion last night. Today, the personality took to social media to announce that she got into a physical altercation with Diamond The Body. While it remains unclear exactly what led up to the altercation, Diamond has been taunting Tesehki on social media for weeks. Recently, she even urged Tesehki to fight for her sister’s son, Chrisean Jr.

Clearly, Tesehki didn’t appreciate this at all, and ultimately decided to address it at the reunion. In photos shared on Diamond’s Instagram Story earlier today, she’s seen with a bloody lip and a missing tooth. “I lost guys REAL BAD !! Sorry,” she wrote. “She really broke my face yall my lip is tore open and my tooth missin pray for me.”

Tesehki Reveals She Got Into Physical Altercation With Diamond The Body

While this is obviously very concerning, Diamond appears to be approaching the situation with a sense of humor. Today, she shared various clips and photos of her injuries from the hospital. “Now I’m looking like her sister,” she wrote alongside a laughing emoji. She also assured fans that she’s doing okay now, and only has to worry about replacing her missing tooth. “I’m good guys I promise,” she explained. “I just left the hospital got a couple stitches nothings broke but I do need a new tooth.”

Diamond even plans to perform tonight in Virginia despite her injuries. Fans hope that she has a speedy recovery, and sorts out her issues with Tesehki sooner rather than later. Travis Scott’s Label Accuses Billboard & Luminate Of Sabotaging Sabrina Carpenter Race

The conspiracy theory that Sabrina Carpenter robbed Travis Scott of a No. 1 Billboard album chart debut just got even more contentious. Moreover, for those unaware, these artists had one of the closest sales races in recent memory, with Sabrina’s Short N’ Sweet beating our Travis’ re-released DAYS BEFORE RODEO by just about 1,000 units as of September 3’s final results. But a new Vulture article claims that the publication reportedly received a very interesting alleged letter sent from Scott’s label Cactus Jack to Billboard and Luminate, which is the company that tracks Billboard‘s weekly chart data. In it, Cactus Jack accused them of a “unreliable and incomplete” data tracking process that legitimately cost their artist a chart-topping debut.

However, the Cactus Jack brand claimed that they are “not reaching out as management for an upset artist” but rather as representatives of Travis Scott’s label and store. This is all a bit complicated and alleged, but we’ll try to sum up the gist of it under the unconfirmed assumption that this is what the supposed letter contains. Basically, Cactus Jack learned that “about 1,000 units” of DBR that came out as new digital deluxe editions on August 29 (the last tracking day) at 11:20 EST would not be reported this week, but rather in the next tracking week due to a delay. The label reportedly didn’t take issue with this since they were in the lead as of Saturday, August 31 by about 11,000 copies. But Carpenter took the lead by Sunday through independent retail sales.

Travis Scott & Sabrina Carpenter Sales Battle Is Still Under Scrutiny

Furthermore, the letter from Travis Scott’s label accuses Luminate and Billboard of weighting Sabrina’s indie record sales more heavily than regular album sales. According to them, this contrasted the decision to stop that particular weighting practice at the start of 2024 to ensure more accuracy. “It clearly bumped Sabrina’s final number of units just above Travis by almost the exact amount of units we erroneously ‘lost’ that would have counted toward week 1,” the letter reportedly reads. These units “comprised 1,291 actual units verified to have timestamps between 11:45–11:59pm” according to the letter. Cactus Jack claims that they tried to speak to Luminate about this before September 3.

Another alleged element is that this same situation happened to Travis Scott’s UTOPIA last year, but that they were able to count it that time around. As such, there’s a bit of a contentious discrepancy here according to the letter. Finally, the most scandalous claim from this letter is the accusation that the Luminate employee that Cactus Jack and Single tried to resolve this unit issue with is a former employee of Sabrina Carpenter’s label, Island Records. They think that this employee had a biased reason for Carpenter to get the No. 1 spot, and thus ignored or erroneously downplayed these numbers. The letter ends by asking Luminate “to give one final consideration” to this debacle. “We are confident that our numbers are correct in accordance with our processes and methodology,” a Luminate spokesperson reportedly expressed regarding this letter.

The Notorious B.I.G.’s Estate Preps For 30th Anniversary Reissue Of “Ready To Die” With “For The Respect” EP

There’s no doubt that The Notorious B.I.G. made one of the most lauded and beloved hip-hop albums of all time with Ready to Die. It’s a pure masterclass in East Coast hip-hop, flows, and production choices. Even though it was released back in 1994, it still sounds quite timeless, which is just another reason why its regarded as a true classic. You could poo-poo this fact, but the album has also been quite successful during the streaming era. It’s got well over a few billion streams overall with iconic tracks such as “Gimme the Loot”, “Juicy”, “Warning”, “Big Poppa”, all over 100 million plays. Over the years, Ready to Die has received a handful of remasters both in 2005 and 2015, respectively. Interestingly, though, his debut project has never received a unique anniversary edition. Life After Death received one for its 25th back in 2022, but now it’s Ready to Die‘s time.

Back in July, multiple reports, including one from Yahoo!, revealed that a special 30th anniversary copy would be released on the 13th of September, the drop date for the original back in ’94. It will be a “limited-edition 2-LP reissue” and “will feature a reimagined cover art featuring a photo of Biggie Smalls, the late Brooklyn rapper’s G subway stop and the Brooklyn Bridge”. There will be a black vinyl available on Rhino which is Biggie’s website. Additionally, “Barnes & Noble will also have a color vinyl edition for sale on the same day”. But before that happens, his estate has released an EP called Ready To Die: For The Respect, which features six tracks from the original.

50 Cent Reveals Why He Cried At Eminem’s Daughter’s Wedding

It goes without saying that weddings can be incredibly moving for those in attendance, and according to 50 Cent, he’s no exception. During a recent interview with Haute Living, the mogul recalled attending Eminem’s daughter Hailie Jade’s wedding earlier this year. He revealed that the ceremony made him emotional, and even says he wishes he had a daughter of his own.

I wish I had a daughter. I do, I wish I had a daughter,” Fif told the outlet, “I wish I had that [father-daughter] relationship. For female children, their dad is the first man they fall in love with. I told Em, ‘You said it was OK to cry, because I’m crying,’ I couldn’t believe it went that fast.” The celebrated Hailie’s special day in Battle Creek, Michigan in May, and Em was seen dancing with her in a tuxedo and some shades.

Snoop Dogg Has A Plan To Launch The ‘Hood Olympics’: ‘There’s A Lot Of Homies From The Hood That Could Run A 10.2’

Perhaps more so than Raygun and Turkish shooter Yusuf Dikec, the biggest star of the 2024 Olympics was probably Snoop Dogg. He was all over the place and did a bit of everything during the games. Now, it looks like he wants to get some games of his own going.

Speaking with Entertainment Tonight recently at the premiere of 1992, Snoop said:

“One thing I wanna do is have the Hood Olympics. There’s a lot of homies from the hood that could run a 10.2, that could high jump, throw the javelin, backflip, swim good, jump over gates and hurdle, you know what I’m saying?

I just wanna make it available for the athletes from the hood that didn’t make it, that probably have certain ramifications, but they still were athletic and they still were good. So, I want to bring that component in and, hopefully, we’ll be able to make it make sense.”

Snoop certainly made out well at the non-hood Olympics: Last month, he re-shared a post that said, “Snoop Dogg, a top rapper, gets over 40 m rubles [about $447,000] daily for his presence at the Paris Olympic Games. Snoop also lives and parties in Paris for free, all to bring more attention to the Olympics. Almost every top broadcast features Snoop. He attends all major Olympic events. For 17 Olympic days, he’ll earn nearly $9 million.”

The Weeknd Reveals Exciting Details About His Upcoming Album “Hurry Up Tomorrow”

A new interview with Billboard Brazil has shed light on The Weeknd’s upcoming show in São Paulo, his love of his Brazilian fanbase, mental health, and much more. But one of the most exciting parts of the conversation was the details that he spread around the piece about his next album, Hurry Up Tomorrow. This will not only close out Abel’s 2020s trilogy as the follow-up to After Hours and Dawn FM, but it will also apparently retire The Weeknd moniker as a creative project with one last hurrah. With all this excitement around this next full-length in mind, it’s no wonder that every little breadcrumb is leaving fans starving for more.

Furthermore, the first big detail to note is that The Weeknd’s Hurry Up Tomorrow has a “central song,” according to Billboard. He apparently nicknamed it “Frankenstein” for how its sonic fusions didn’t take away from the essence of the record (although that might refer to HUT as a whole). The Canadian superstar reportedly composed it during his last São Paulo concert visit last October. Since then, he’s not only dropped a few collaborations, but his teases towards another Playboi Carti link-up and more have really energized fans’ excitement.

However, the most important revelation about Hurry Up Tomorrow was about the mind-state that The Weeknd created it in. “There is always pressure to surpass my last project,” he expressed. “Growth is important. Sometimes it may not be what people want to hear from me at the moment, but, when the body of work is complete, I hope they can appreciate what I have been trying to achieve. I have been working on this discography for a long time. It was all planned.”

Meanwhile, The Weeknd also spoke on his remarks about facing “the abyss” shortly after announcing this year’s Brazil visit. “It can mean many things,” he shared. “For me, it is something very specific,” he says in the interview, in a mysterious mood. “I faced it long enough. Most of the time, I overcame it. But I work on it every day. I hope that [my music] helps others face and overcome the abyss, too.” From what this all indicates, Hurry Up Tomorrow will be a deeply cathartic, vividly creative, and bittersweet experience. We’ll take ten copies, please.
