Why Does Nicki Minaj Have Beef With Travis Scott, And How Is Sabrina Carpenter Involved?

While promoting her new album, Short N’ Sweet, pop star Sabrina Carpenter tweeted, “This one is for Nicki,” prompting “Barbie World” rapper Nicki Minaj to acknowledge the “Espresso” singer during a livestream. Fans quickly deduced that Carpenter was out for revenge on Nicki’s behalf, involving herself in a long-running rivalry between the Queens rapper and Travis Scott. Here’s a refresher on why Nicki Minaj has beef with Travis Scott, and just how Carpenter fits in.

You may remember that Minaj pitched quite a fit in 2018 after Scott’s album Astroworld returned to the No. 1 spot in its second week, relegating Minaj’s new album Queen to a No. 2 debut after Nicki campaigned heavily for the top spot. Her main grievance was that many of Astroworld‘s second-week sales came from merch bundles the Houston rapper pitched on his website, which Nicki felt was unfair, as fans were really buying the merch, not the album, but Travis got the sales anyway.

“I put my blood sweat & tears in writing a dope album only for Travis Scott to have Kylie Jenner post a tour pass telling people to come see her and Stormi,” she wrote on Twitter, before restating her case on Queen Radio. She argued that Billboard should change its counting rules — and it did, eventually — but she was unhappy at the possibility that her project might be seen as a relative failure based on the bar of going No. 1 in its first week (which, technically, she set herself, but we’ll leave that alone for a moment).

Which brings us to today, and Sabrina Carpenter. Clearly, Carpenter counts herself one of Minaj’s loyal Barbz (hopefully, not the toxic kind that bullied journalists and other artists on her behalf). With Short N’ Sweet released on the same day as the re-release to streaming of Scott’s breakout mixtape Days Before Rodeo, it looks like Sabrina sees this as a chance to get justice for Ms. Minaj, if her album can top the Billboard 200 over Scott’s — especially as Scott appears to be up to his old shenanigans. Frankly, everybody here seems way too obsessed with the numbers game, especially as they’re probably not even all competing for the same limited group of fans. Maybe they’d all be better served joining adult sports leagues, so they can get their winning fix somewhere more productive. What I’m saying here is: Bring back Rock N’ Jock. For the culture.

Thanks To FLO’s Sultry New Single ‘Bending My Rules’ You Will ‘Access All Areas’ Of Their Addictive Sound

The UK’s hottest and fastest rising girl group, FLO, wants their music to touch all corners of the globe. This winter the trio (comprised of Jorja Douglas, Stella Quaresma, and Renée Downer) will accomplish just that when their debut studio album, Access All Areas, hit streaming services.

For now, the harmonious ladies are treating supporters to another silky smooth single slated to appear on Access All Areas. “Bending My Rules,” produced by Darhyl ‘DJ’ Camper Jr. is yet another example of why the group has taken off in the ways that they have. Between Jorja, Stella, and Renée’s flawless three part vocal blends and the penetrative lyrics co-authored by DIXON, “Bending My Rules” is the purest essence of R&B. Contrary to the song’s title, FLO hasn’t deviated from or cut any corner when it comes to rounding out this infectious record.

As the group sings, “But I’m nervous / I don’t do this / With just anyone, but you’re bendin’ my rules / Cause I’m nervous, I’m so nеrvous / I don’t want nobody, nobody like I want you,” you can’t help but take on their raw sensibilities.

Ice Spice Drops A Workout Video After Being Accused Of Using Ozempic For Her Weight Loss: ‘We Beatin’ Them Allegations’

Ice Spice has long shown that she’s proud of her body, as her figure is commonly referenced in her songs (“Phat Butt,” for example) and flaunted in her videos. Now she’s showing off what it takes to take care of her body by unveiling a new workout video.

In the 18-second clip (find it here), Ice is in a gym, rocking a tight bodysuit and a crop-top hoodie as she stretches, lifts weights, uses various pieces of workout equipment, does planks, and runs. She captioned the post, “we beatin them allegations bae [laughing emoji][heart emoji][100 emoji].”

Presumably, “them allegations” refers to recent accusations she has faced, of using Ozempic to help her lose weight. She addressed that previously: During an X Spaces broadcast on August 19, Ice said, “I wish y’all never learned the word ‘Ozempic.’ That’s one thing I wish. Oh my god, like, what even is Ozempic? What the f*ck is that? Like, genuinely, what is that, bro? Like, you lazy [expletive] never heard of a gym? It’s called the gym, it’s called eating healthy, it’s called being on tour. Like, what the hell? Maybe if I was sitting home all day, it would be easier to stay big.”

LL Cool J And Eminem’s ‘Murdergram Deux’ Reminds Rap Rookies That The Veterans Can Still Lyrically Kill Beats

LL Cool J is still hard as hell. The “Proclivities” rapper might have shelved his joint album with 50 Cent, but LL Cool J’s forthcoming solo album, The Force, will knock out a space for itself on streaming platforms next month.

Today (August 30), LL Cool J shared another taste of his first album in a decade. On his latest single, “Murdergram Deux,” LL Cool J linked up with Eminem to remind rap rookies that the veterans can still lyrically kill beats.

Between their verses, LL Cool J and Eminem pulled out ever sharp-witted trick in the hip-hop book. From swift cadence flips to multi-layered metaphors, “Murdergram Deux,” is a rap masterclass.

“What? A supa-dupa switch / I can’t understand a single word you’re saying / I think you have syrup brain, ’bout to finish you like polyurethane / All that molly probably sure to drain your spinal fluid from your vertebrae / This the Murdergram and I brought my murder game / My sh*t fire, that is why you log on it like Duraflame,” rapped Eminem.

LL Cool J follows that stanza with a fiery take of his own, rapping: “Murdergrams, turn over your ambulance, thirty bullets in advance / Candlelight and crying fans, we go in and buy a land / Slide up behind you, testing my rifle / Give blessings to my disciples, professional I’m a sniper / Like eight miles away, me and Marshall doing murders.”

The two emcees weren’t the only certified rap veteran to craft the record. Behind the scenes Q-Tip served as its co-producer and recording engineer to transport vintage hip-hop instrumental styles to present day.

The Force is out 9/6. Find more information here.

Chris Brown Finally Meets Superfan Who Named Him In Wedding Vows

Over the summer, Chris Brown made his way across North America on his “11:11” tour with Muni Long and Ayra Starr. Aside from wowing fans with electric performances, the hitmaker also gave them the opportunity to enhance their concert experience with a meet and greet. One dedicated fan, Brooke Adrian, was sure to include this in her ticket package and later shared a lengthy post about the unforgettable moment.

In her post, which featured a photo of her alongside the R&B icon, he admitted that she’s been a fan of Breezy since middle school. Brooke even claims that she named him in her wedding vows, a testament to how much of a fan she really is.

My delulu came trutru. If you know anything about me, this has been my life dream,” she wrote. “Meeting my NUMBER ONE artist/celebrity, checked off my bucket list. Ive been a fan and supporter since middle school. Chris Brown was the absolute nicest and most humble person to meet and actually have a real conversation with. We talked about his show and he actually asked lil ole me for critiques. Me and my sister custom made the roses.”

This is far from the first time Brown was a part of a fan’s wedding celebration, however. Earlier this month, a supporter named Brittany also brought her wedding book to a meet and greet, which he signed. According to her, she sent him an invite to the wedding, but he was simply too heartbroken to attend. What do you think of a superfan finally getting to meet Chris Brown after mentioning him in her wedding vows? What about her lengthy Instagram post about it? LL COOL J & Eminem Have A Rap Battle On “Murdergram Deux”

After just over 11 years of waiting, LL COOL J fans will soon be able to enjoy a new album. Next Friday, September 6, the man who continues to defy Father Time will be dropping off The FORCE, his 14th studio LP. The acronym “FORCE” stands for Frequencies of Real Creative Energy, and it’s something that LL COOL J has continued to bring up during its rollout. “When you listen to this album, you’re not just hearing music, you’re experiencing a whole new vibe, a whole new level of artistic passion“, he said in statement. That “passion” is certainly on full display on this new LL COOL J single “Murdergram Deux”.

If that title sound familiar, it’s because there was an unfinished version of the song that got leaked online. It was originally titled just “Murdergram”, but after people spoiled it, LL went back to the drawing board. That is most likely why it’s now called “Murdergram Deux”, with the latter word meaning “two” in French. This track was hyped up big time, thanks Eminem’s inclusion. Both legends can really rap their a** off and their command of flow, as well as their lyrical abilities are front and center here. It feels like they were trying to outdo one another and if so, it’s intense. As with all of the tracks on The FORCE, this was one was handled by Q-Tip, but Em also has credits. Both murder the beat and are also doing the same to the competition with this one. Be sure to stream it with the link below.

“Murdergram Deux” – LL COOL J & Eminem

Quotable Lyrics:

Do you remember first time you heard the legend in leather?
The career ender with the road-killer stuck to his fender
I’m on another bender, drunk off the power that make a coward surrender as I devour contenders
Talkin’ foul of whoever, your head is ’bout to get severed
Then I bounce it with pleasure, I’m pouring out Amaretto
Homies, I won’t forgеt ’em, so tap the bottle and pour it

Latto Becomes The First Female “Trapper Of The Year” At Atlanta’s Trap Music Museum

Like many Atlanta and Southern legends before her, Latto just received a high honor from T.I at the Trap Music Museum in Atlanta. Moreover, she received the award for Trapper Of The Year, which is a fitting title for one of her best 12-month treks of her career so far. Thanks to a new album, Sugar Honey Iced Tea, plus a whole lot of hot storylines, the Atlanta femcee is in a great position in 2024. She seemed very excited by the whole occasion as the museum revealed an exhibit of her with a big Georgia peach LED light.

Overall, it’s a pretty wholesome moment to witness, and an innocuous but nonetheless important accolade to receive. It contributes to some of Latto’s other happenings in the city, such as a sit-down interview with fellow Atlanta trapper 2 Chainz and his son Halo. The latter hilariously asked her about her Ice Spice, which prompted quite the diplomatic answer. “Oh my God, here we go. Let me tell you something, Halo. I don’t got a problem with nobody ’cause beef is a different thing, you feel me? That’s a whole different type of conversation. I ain’t got no beef with nobody, I don’t got a problem with nobody for real. *laughs* I ain’t got no problem with nobody for real, for real, it ain’t like that.”

Latto Receives “Trapper Of The Year” Award

However, this new prize comes at the expense of other aspects of Latto’s life, such as her relationship with her father. “Awww my dad steals from me & tell everyone I’m in the Illuminati,” she shared on social media alongside some laughing emojis, prompting concern from her fanbase. Not many more details have emerged around these claims since, so we’re still in the dark. In any case, it goes to show the complicated nature of celebrity culture.

Meanwhile, Sugar Honey Iced Tea was by no means a commercial juggernaut, but it performed much better than what many albums this year could’ve asked for. As such, Latto’s also dealing with a lot of negative narratives around her success. Hopefully these diminish as we focus on celebrating her accomplishments and feats, which moments like these should inspire and promote above all. We’ll see who the next Trapper Of The Year is to dominate the game.

BeatKing’s Daughter Jayla Delivers Heartwarming Speech At His Memorial Service: Watch

Earlier this month, BeatKing’s manager took to social media to confirm that the beloved Houston artist passed away at the age of 39. Reportedly, his death was the result of a pulmonary embolism, which he suffered while hosting a takeover on Urban One/Radio One. Despite being rushed to the hospital after fainting, he died with his two daughters at his side.

Yesterday, BeatKing’s emotional celebration of life was hosted at Houston’s Bayou City Event Center. His eldest daughter Jayla delivered a heartfelt speech about the loss. In it, she made it clear that her father would want her to stay strong amid the circumstances.

“When I talk about my dad, a lot of people expect me to start crying but he was way too goofy, too annoying to just cry over,” she began with a laugh. “He would not want to to cry over him. So, I always make sure I keep a smile on my face at all times because I know that’s what he would want me to do.” She continued, joking that her father’s death would be hitting his favorite restaurant the hardest.

“I know all of us here are very devastated with his passing,” she explained. “But I just know personally nobody could be more upset than Whataburger. Without him, Whataburger will be going bankrupt, probably. The cheeseburger-eating, chocolate shake-drinking person has unfortunately passed and is in a better place now. And he’s with all of us spiritually.” Fans in The Neighborhood Talk‘s comments section are praising Jayla for approaching the situation with a sense of humor, and sharing words of support for the teen and her family as they navigate this difficult time.
