Saweetie Shuts Down “Nepo Baby” Accusations

Saweetie doesn’t want to hear any more accusations about being a “nepo baby” and went on a rant about the narrative on X (formerly Twitter) on Sunday. She argued that her parents were absent a lot of her childhood and she still had to take ample risks throughout her career.

“I hate the ‘nepo baby’ narrative,” she wrote. “It spits in the face of the child who grew up barely spending time with her parents because they was too busy hustlin trying to make ends meet. Also, I think saweetie the college girl would have had her ‘wealthy family’ pay for tuition and boarding so that she could enjoy the social experience of college instead of working 4 jobs to support herself. Saying I’m privileged ignores the girl who risked her safety renting rooms off of Craigslist because she believed in herself enough to stay in an expensive city while everyone else was telling her to move home because that’s the safe and better ‘financial option.’ Can’t pay for studio time? No problem. I made car rap videos which is how I got discovered.”

Saweetie concluded: “I’m proud of all the hard work I’ve done/accomplished and will continue to share my story to inspire those who come after me.” Fans joined in agreement with her position in the replies. One user noted: “nepotism is only an issue when the person is mediocre and gets opportunities over people who deserve it more. I don’t think this applies to you tho. It’s clear you have worked hard.” Others argued the concept should be interpreted differently for people of color.

Saweetie Sounds Off On Nepotism

Check out Saweetie’s comments on the nepotism she’s experienced above. She isn’t the only celebrity dealing with the label of “nepo baby.” After the NBA Draft, last week, fans accused LeBron James’ son, Bronny, of benefiting from his parent’s success. Rick Ross Defends Bronny James From Nepotism Accusations

Rick Ross doesn’t think the criticism of LeBron James’ son, Bronny, is fair after fans suggested he’s only in the NBA because of nepotism. The veteran rapper voiced his opinion on the situation in a rant on social media, claiming that Bronny’s already a bigger star than most of the league.

“Y’all make me sick. Every two years y’all come up with a new word,” Ross began before listing several other terms including toxicity. “Now, it’s nepotism. Nepotism? 85% of all you motherf*ckers got a job by somebody you know and that ain’t even what I’m referring to. Bronny a bigger star than 95% of the motherf*ckers in the league man. This big business. Little Bronny will sell more Wingstop wings than anybody. 95% of the people that’s in the motherf*cking backup squad and all that sh*t. Y’all wanna say nepotism.”

Smith also said that he’s had enough of the criticism. “We live in a country where nepotism has taken place with white folks religiously forever,” Smith said on ESPN. “We’ve said little to nothing about it. In the NBA specifically, in a league where at least 70% of the players are Black, we’ve seen nepotism with white folks all over the place… and now this happens with LeBron James, a member of the Mount Rushmore of basketball, and all of a sudden you’ve got people running their mouths.”

Drake Comparisons Leave Latto Flattered: “The GOAT”

Last week, Latto finally dropped off her new track “Big Mama” following weeks of teasing. So far, the summer-ready single has listeners impressed. Some have even started to draw comparisons between the Atlanta-born performer and other artists, namely Drake. Fortunately, she appears to have taken this as a huge compliment. Yesterday, she took to social media to respond to one user who shared a snippet of her song, writing “Drake’s influence in the culture is UNMATCHED.”

“Drake the goat,” she replied simply, making it clear that she was nothing short of flattered. While most agree that they can hear at least a bit of Drake on the record, others are also comparing her to 21 Savage, Travis Scott, Future, and more. Regardless, she doesn’t appear to mind, and neither do her fans.

Latto Reacts To Fans Hearing Drake’s Influence On “Big Mama”

It looks like Latto might have more on the way too, as during her performance at Atlanta’s HOT 107.9 Birthday Bash earlier this month, she teased the title of her upcoming album. It’s speculated to be called Sugar Honey Iced Tea, though an official title and release date have yet to be revealed. Elsewhere during the performance, she brought out various special guests like 21 Savage, Anycia, Summer Walker, and more. Usher even joined her onstage, and she helped him sing one of his songs due to technical difficulties.

As for Drizzy, he’s yet to address the comparisons, though he was recently spotted bowling with friends using the “69 God” nickname given to him by Kendrick Lamar. What do you think of Latto’s response to fans claiming they can hear Drake’s influence on her new track, “Big Mama”? Do you agree with her or not? Are you looking forward to hearing what she has to offer on her upcoming album? Share your thoughts in the comments section down below, and keep an eye on HNHH for more updates.

When The Neighborhood Talk shared the video on Instagram, fans celebrated the two but also questioned their father. “This is no shade just in general question……. At what age do twins stop matching & get into their own individuality?” one user asked. Another added: “Let’s keep it cute when it comes to these children what their father did has nothing to do with them.” One more fan commented: “They’re such cutie pies. I’ve always loved that about them. They aged appropriately, as normal teens should. They look their age.”

Bakar & Lancey Foux Make A Hit “Everytime” On New Single: Stream

Two English artists are here to give you what might be one of your songs of the summer thanks to its breezy atmosphere and sticky melodies. Moreover, Bakar and Lancey Foux reunited on “Everytime” and continued their collaborative history, and this follows the latter’s prolific collaborations with other artists. He linked with Teezo Touchdown and Cash Cobain for the recent “Daylight,” whereas he had tapped Cash already for the single “Gotta Get U.”

Furthermore, these tracks have been a little bit softer compared to Lancey Foux’s more rambunctious material, and “Everytime” is no different. Bakar soars over a crisp and springy percussion pattern, light guitar chords, sampled vocal runs, and pretty resonant kicks towards the end. They sing of their romantic woes with the same tenderness that you could’ve heard on the “In Disguise” singer’s debut studio album, Nobody’s Home. In addition to all this, there are also some subtle melodic and percussive variations throughout the song that keep it engaging.

Bakar and Lancey Foux clearly have a lot of chemistry, and it’s a privilege to hear them continue bringing out the best in each other. If you haven’t heard “Everytime” yet, find it on your preferred streaming service or find it on YouTube below. Also down there is a set of notable lines from the track if you’re curious, as well as the comments section for you to drop your thoughts on this single. Meanwhile, as always, check back in with HNHH for more great music drops around the clock.

Tech N9ne Goes Back To Where It All Began On “The Birth”

Tech N9ne is currently gearing up to drop his new project COSM, which will be the ninth in the Missouri-born performer’s “Collabos” series. It’s been seven years since he unveiled his last installment, and it’s safe to say that fans are ready for more. Fortunately, they don’t have to wait too much longer. COSM is expected to arrive on July 12 of this year and is available for pre-order now.

In the meantime, the hitmaker has given listeners a taste of what’s to come with a few singles like “Drippy Drop,” which he dropped earlier this month. He teamed up with Skatterman and Snug Brim for the fun, summer-ready song, and is back with more yet again. This time, he’s unleashed a solo track called “The Birth,” which leans into slightly more serious and introspective themes.

On the melancholy track, Tech N9ne reflects on some of his early days. He recalls realizing he wanted to be “an elite MC,” watching his mother struggle with various health issues, ultimately being “set free” by music, and much more. It has a fittingly nostalgic sound, which lines up well with the lyrical content. What do you think of tech N9ne’s nostalgic new track? What about its accompanying music video? Will you be adding “The Birth” to your playlist or not? Are you looking forward to hearing his new album COSM when it drops next month? Share your thoughts in the comments section down below, and keep an eye on HNHH for more updates.
