Roddy Ricch Updates His Fans On Where He’s Been On Soulful Lead Single “Survivor’s Remorse”

“2024 is PERSONAL not business 🕴🏽”. Those were the words of Compton, California multi-hyphenate Roddy Ricch via his Instagram just over 24 hours ago. After a strong run in the latter half of the 2010’s, especially with Please Excuse Me For Being Antisocial, it seemed that he was going to be one of the new faces of pop/trap rap. Unfortunately, the quality took a dip on the subsequent releases LIVE LIFE FAST and Feed Tha Streets III. Based on his brand-new single Survivor’s Remorse, it is clear that Roddy Ricch has heard the narrative that he has fallen off.

Imagine if I had a dollar for every time you say I fell off, I’d be a billionaire“, he raps on the first bar of his second verse. In addition to addressing the doubters, he gives some evidence as to why he has been laying back. “Roddy really anti, they took it pеrsonal, what the f*** was I supposed to do? / I been goin’ through child support / A good daddy, I vouch for it“. It was recently reported that Roddy’s ex-partner, Alexandra Kiser, did not feel that the rapper was there enough for their now three-year-old son.

Listen To “Survivor’s Remorse” By Roddy Ricch

“He has been arrested on a gun charge, domestic violence and regularly indulges in promethazine use, all of which are concerns for myself and our son”. Unfortunately, Roddy is still going to hear the noise from unforgiving fans about the lack of production. However, fans are seeming to love “Survivor’s Remorse” so far and they should. Production wise, it is gorgeous, with elegant piano melodies that give us flashbacks to “War Baby”. Also, Roddy turns a crisp vocal performance, and you can tell he has dealt with a lot mentally. With The Navy Album on the way, fans should be thrilled for what Ricch has coming.

What are your thoughts on “Survivor’s Remorse” by Roddy Ricch? Do you think he ever fell off, why or why not? Is this one of the best tracks he has ever put out? Quotable Lyrics:

I was blinded by survivor’s remorse, I was supposed to build, yeah
Still solid, still here
Still home, I done stepped on base
Pride myself off the progress of off bein’ off codeine, I promise, it’s so hard to shake
Roddy, you wealthy, Roddy, you golden, Roddy, you built for this
Roddy be tired of everybody opinion, behind the closed doors, you could feel this s***

Grafh & Method Man Share Hustler Stories On “Fight For Love”

Screenshot 2024 05 31 at 8.44.54 AM

The Queens emcee Grafh and Wu-Tang icon Method Man trade verses on how their hustles fuel their successes on “Fight For Love.” The new track distributed through MNRK, is a compelling blend of thought-provoking lyrics and dynamic beats, is available on all major streaming platforms.

Grafh discusses how he turns “opps into opportunities” and outworks his competition in the streets. Throughout the song, he raps about being faithful in fighting for what he wants with love on the 38 Spesh produced track. Spesh is also the producer for Grafh’s upcoming album, God’s Timing.

Method Man provides a classic verse about getting it from the bottom and being a veteran in the concrete jungle. He raps, “Musically, you’re lying. To say I’m lying is lunacy. Truthfully, no schooling these rappers; they dying, truancy. Welcome to the jungle, no need to Google me. I’m bomb, give me my space Tom, you’re losing me. Too much Uncle Tom-ing and Tomfoolery…”

When asked about the song, Grafh stated, “‘Fight For Love’ is just pure classic hip hop. The music gave me a futuristic Wu-Tang vibe. Method Man came on the track and completely slaughtered it. This is one of my favorite songs on the upcoming project,”

Their collaboration promises to be one of the most talked-about releases of the year, showcasing their unmatched talent and profound lyrical prowess.

Grafh can be seen currently on Joyner Lucas’s “Not Now, I’m Busy” tour.

Today in Hip Hop History: Boogie Down Productions Released Their Second LP ‘By All Means Necessary’ 36 Years Ago

tumblr 1c7fd5e517a04cc1d524431a6c53dd1a 68033a0e 1280

On this day in 1988, Boogie Down Productions dropped one of the best and most influential albums of all time. It was widely seen as one of, if not the first, politically conscious efforts in Hip Hop.

KRS-One was initially popular for fueling the Juice Crew vs. BDP beef on wax and expanding intellectual Hip Hop music through 1987, with the release of Criminal Minded. However, when BDP’s DJ Scott La Rock was shot and killed in the South Bronx, it profoundly affected the Brooklyn native, which resulted in a drastic rethinking of his on-record persona. The “Blastmaster” began to talk about many of the issues plaguing the black community, like police brutality, government corruption, and institutionalized racism. Later on, he gave birth to his “Stop the Violence” Campaign. By All Means Necessary was one of the first albums the group made after Scott La Rock’s death that would have a lasting effect on generations to come.

As “The Teacher,” on perhaps one of the most influential tracks from the LP, “Stop the Violence,” he spits,

“I look, but it doesn’t coincide with my books/Social Studies will not speak upon hard hitting crooks/It’s just the Presidents, and all the money they spent/All the things they invent, and how their house is so immaculate/They create missiles, my family’s eating gristle/Then they get upset when the press blows the whistle”

As a plea to end violence in Hip Hop, which still hasn’t been heeded, KRS-One took on the role of the spearhead of Hip Hop’s Stop The Violence Movement, choosing the single “Self Destruction” as the lead single.

With classic tracks like “Nervous,” nearly every track on the album had a distinct narrative, and even the album cover art and the theme were Malcolm X (By Any Means Necessary) inspired. On the track “Jimmy,” the rapper became the first rapper to speak on the AIDS/HIV epidemic that plagued Black and Brown communities in America. In the song “Illegal Business,” Kris gives the masses a startling perception of the drug trade and how it corrupts the police and the government.

Salute to KRS and the Boogie Down Productions crew for giving us this epic piece of Hip Hop history!

“It’s not about a salary, it’s all about reality..”

Lenny Kravitz Reveals Nine-Year Celibacy Journey

Screen Shot 2024 05 31 at 8.02.52 AM

Rock icon Lenny Kravitz opened up about his deeply personal journey of celibacy and his hopes for finding the right woman. The 59-year-old musician revealed that he has not been in a serious relationship for the past nine years, a decision he attributes to a spiritual commitment.

In a candid interview with The Guardian, Kravitz revealed, “Yes. It’s a spiritual thing,” he affirmed when asked about his celibacy. The singer, known for his hits like “Fly Away” and “American Woman,” has always embraced a lifestyle that blends his creative passions with a sense of deeper spiritual purpose. This choice to abstain from intimate relationships until finding the right partner is a testament to that ethos.

Kravitz’s commitment to celibacy is not driven by a lack of interest in relationships. In fact, he expressed a genuine desire to be in a relationship, although he acknowledged potential challenges. “I have become very set in my ways, in the way I live,” he admitted. This self-awareness highlights the rocker’s understanding of how his independent lifestyle and personal habits might impact future relationships.

Despite these potential obstacles, Kravitz remains hopeful about meeting someone who aligns with his values and lifestyle. His openness about this journey offers a rare glimpse into the personal life of a man often seen as a rock ‘n’ roll heartthrob, showing a sensitive side to his personality.
