Sauce Walka is one of the more underrated talents from Texas. He has proven that he can deliver his music in different ways. The 33-year-old veteran is not a one-note kind of guy and he proves that on his newest single. Currently, it is only available on YouTube, so if you want to listen to it, check out the link below. Sauce is throwing things back to the 90s with “Im Him.” It is a three-minute track that flexes his ability to spit with ease. You could say he is rapping like the rent is due on this one. Walka had the song produced by Daringer, who works on the Griselda label.
It may be a bit of an unexpected collaboration, but it works to perfection. Daringer brings a smooth, boom-bap flavor to the table, and Walka feasts on it. Excitingly, this is a teaser to the Houston native’s upcoming project for 2024. When it drops, it will follow up his lone 2023 LP, DAT BOY DEN. It will be tied into the albums named after him.
There is no release date yet, but we have confirmation from Walka on the title and that it is on the way. It will be called New Sauce City 2 and he includes it in the description box under the music video. “New Sauce City 2.” Coming Soon!” Fans are undoubtedly excited. One says, “Sauce and Daringer need to do a whole album together.” Another adds, “This s*** right here magic. Daringer went tf off and you already knew what Walka was finna do gotdamn hip-hop we still up in this mf.”
What are your thoughts on this brand-new song, “Im Him,” by Sauce Walka? Do you think he will deliver his new project, New Sauce City 2, soon? Will this be his best single of the year, why or why not? Where will this forthcoming project rank in his discography? Her life may have been cut short that fateful day in 2001, but Aaliyah’s legacy lives on. Each year, fans commemorate milestones in the R&B singer’s life, and today marks what would have been her 45th birthday. The music industry may have shifted since the days Aaliyah’s tunes were topping the charts, but her impact continues to ripple throughout the music industry. We often find ourselves reflecting on her reign in entertainment and the profound legacy birthed through her departure. Today, we fondly remember Aaliyah through her art and the images etched in our memories of her life and career.
In the late summer of 2001, the world stood still as news broke of Aaliyah’s tragic passing. A plane crash in the Bahamas claimed not just a rising star but an artist who had already imprinted her soulful essence in music and culture. This marked a new beginning of a legacy that refuses to dim, even as years turn into decades. Further, Aaliyah’s sudden absence was felt in the inspiration she seeded in countless artists following in her footsteps. From the fluidity of her dance moves to the haunting sweetness of her voice, she had crafted a style so distinct that it became a guiding light for emerging talents.
Born in the heart of Brooklyn in 1979, Aaliyah would journey to the global stage only after her family moved and settled in Detroit. She was exposed to the entertainment industry early on, landing her first big break at only ten years old. It was then that a young Aaliyah would give a glimpse of her talents while performing on Star Search—although she didn’t take home the grand prize. Still, her drive to become a star was unwavering, and in 1994, the world received her debut, Age Ain’t Nothing But A Number.
The 1994 release of Age Ain’t Nothing but a Number marked a seismic shift in R&B. Barely into her teens, Aaliyah’s voice resonated with a surprising depth, weaving through the album’s sophisticated and creative production. The sound fused R&B grooves and forward-thinking musical innovation, announcing the arrival of a new era in the genre.
This period also saw the unfolding of the singer’s much-discussed association with disgraced R&B heavyweight R. Kelly. This controversial chapter was instrumental in shaping her journey towards becoming a self-reliant and empowered artist. Aaliyah soon began to define her own space in music, as her maturing sound reflected a new vision as a young woman with a shifting perspective.
As Aaliyah transitioned into the mid-’90s, her artistic voyage took a decisive turn. One in a Million‘s arrival in 1996 was pivotal in her career. The now-classic album was pouring over with Timbaland and Missy Elliott productions, showing Aaliyah’s evolution into a bold new direction. The collaborators’ approach resounded with a generation hungry for something that defied the norm.
As she was shaking up the music scene, Aaliyah was also emerging as a movie star. A role in Romeo Must Die had fans anticipating her next blockbuster, which would arrive in Queen of the Damned. Sadly, this would be a posthumous release, as Aaliyah passed away a year before the film went to theaters.
This walk down memory lane is more than a superficial look at Aaliyah’s biography. It’s a reminder of an era that saw a young woman take a chance with burgeoning producers who also challenged the status quo. Since the singer’s death, those who knew her share fond memories of happier times as young hopefuls with stars in their eyes. Take a look at a few moments in Baby Girl’s life and career below, a celebrate a star who’s light was dimmed far too soon.
Drake’s parents, Sandi and Dennis Graham, met up in Canada for the first time in 15 years after the 6 God’s father was granted access into the country.
Diddy’s business empire continues to crumble in the wake of a slew of sexual assault lawsuits against him at the end of the year. Rolling Stone reports that, after settling his lawsuit against beverage licensing company Diageo, the music mogul will no longer have any ties to the Ciroc vodka or DeLeón tequila brands, relinquishing his 50-percent stake in each.
Diddy sued his former partners in May of last year, claiming racisim at Diageo had stunted the growth of his brands, going so far as asking him to take a backseat in marketing to downplay their reputation as Black brands (Diageo owns 35 percent of Hennessey, by the way). In September, the lawsuit was moved to New York district court and was cleared to become public.
However, in November, Diddy’s ex-girlfriend Cassie Ventura filed a lawsuit of her own against him, alleging that he’d beat her, raped her, and coerced her into sexual encounters with other men. Although he and Cassie settled within 24 hours, by then, the damage had been done, and the floodgates opened for three more accusers to come forward over the next month.
This gave DeLeón the leverage to attempt to block the mogul’s request for an injunction granting him a $15 million marketing budget for DeLeón. Today, both parties issued a joint statement revealing the terms of the settlement, although any financial details are being kept out of the press. “Sean Combs and Diageo have now agreed to resolve all disputes between them,” it reads. “Mr. Combs has withdrawn all of his allegations about Diageo and will voluntarily dismiss his lawsuits against Diageo with prejudice. Diageo and Mr. Combs have no ongoing business relationship, either with respect to Cîroc vodka or DeLeón tequila, which Diageo now solely owns.”
It’s been two years since the release of Joey Badass’ last album, 2000 (which was, funnily enough, released in 2022), and it looks like the Brooklyn rapper is back to a regular production schedule. While nearly five years passed between 2000 and its predecessor, All-Amerikkkan Badass, he’s already announced the follow-up to 2000, United States of Amerikkka, will come out sometime this year.
It may do so sooner than you think, as Joey announced the release of the album’s first single, “Passports & Suitcases,” today on his social channels along with a preview of song. In a video posted to Instagram Reels, Joey traipses through an airport (on the moving sidewalk, no less), with a snippet of the song’s chorus, sung by KayCyy, at the very beginning. You can check out both below.
Joey recent increased focus on his music coincides with the end of his most recent screen role. A little over a week after bidding farewell to his Power character Unique (RIP), Joey was featured on “Fallout,” the latest single from Lyrical Lemonade’s upcoming compilation album featuring Gus Dapperton and Lil Yachty.
The feature may have been the first result of the “fire sale” he called last April, when he vowed to “knock out any and all features.” Since then, he’s laid relatively low, but ironically, with “Passports & Suitcases” coming out this week, it’s clear that his vacation is over.
“Passports & Suitcases” is out January 19. You can pre-save it here.
Last year, former Outkast rapper Andre 3000surprised rap fans with his new album. The project was called New Blue Sun and before he released it he warned fans that there were “no bars.” He wasn’t kidding about that as the album is a series of long ambient jazz compositions. Andre is present on the record, though he mostly plays the flute and just as he promised doesn’t deliver any bars. The album was met with a mixed response from fans and critics alike.
Many online gave Andre 300 credit for taking such a bold artistic swing. That included some other rappers who took similar interest in potentially expanding their sound into instrumental territory. But many also criticized the album and Andre’s decision to make it. Many fans felt entitled to hear him rapping after waiting so long for new material. Others who are more familiar with ambient and jazz music criticized the project for being a relatively shallow indulgence into those sounds. Regardless of the criticism, fans who enjoyed the album will have an entirely new way to experience it soon.
“New Blue Sun: An IMAX Live Experience. Cinematic Album Listening Event & Live-Stream Q&A. 01/23/24 Ticket info in bio,” the caption of an Instagram post announcing the new screenings reads. It doesn’t reveal precisely what the new visual elements introduced to the album will be. But it does announce that the listening event will be accompanied by a Q&A with Andre himself.
Since releasing his new album Andre has been doing quite a bit of press and interviews. In those clips, he’s told a number of charming stories, including one where he discusses getting his former Outkast partner Big Boi into deep sea fishing. He also revealed that he had been secretly contributing to other artists music which caused fans to search out places he may have contributed. What do you think of Andre 3000’s new album being released through IMAX? Let us know in the comment section below.
Charlamagne Tha God responded to NBA YoungBoy’s diss track aimed at him during Tuesday’s episode of The Breakfast Club. In doing so, Charlamagne says he has no interest in pulling up on the rapper and joked that his brain isn’t fully developed.
“I ain’t going to no place called Grave Digger Mountain,” Charlamagne said. “[What] the hell I’m doing on Grave Digger Mountain if it ain’t Halloween?” He added: “The young brother said he’s not big on fatherhood. We all should be big on fatherhood. But he’s 24 years old, so his prefrontal cortex hasn’t even fully developed yet. He’ll start thinking rationally once he turns 25, maybe.”
Charlamagne Tha God Speaks At iHeartRadio Podcast Awards
NBA YoungBoy invited Charlamagne to travel to Grave Digger Mountain in a diss track aimed at the podcast host titled, “Act a Donkey.” He dropped the song in response to Charlamagne criticizing his recent comments on not being “big” on fatherhood, which he made on The Bootleg Kev Podcast. “He has 11 kids, but he’s not really big on fatherhood,” Charlamagne said. “I didn’t know I had to say this, but my brothers, that is wack. What bothers me about statements like this is that NBA YoungBoy talks that gangsta talk in his records. Not only does he talk that gangsta talk, he talks that big-money talk. In the words of Jay-Z, ‘A man that don’t take care of his family can’t be rich.’”
Charlamagne Tha God Responds To NBA YoungBoy
YoungBoy is currently under house arrest at his so-called Grave Diggler Mountain while awaiting trial in a federal gun case. It’s set to kick off on July 15. Be on the lookout for further updates on Charlamagne Tha God on HotNewHipHop.
Kim Kardashian is like any other parent, she loves showing off her children. This time she took to social media to share some clips of a recent birthday party with fans. The party was for her and Kanye West’s youngest daughter Chicago. She turned six earlier this week and celebrated in style with a Bratz-themed birthday party. Videos Kim shared show off the various pieces of Bratz apparel that decorate the party and Chicago herself blowing out her birthday candles.
In the comments of the videos, fans showed out love for Chicago. “That child is gorgeous,” one of the top comments on the post reads. That was the sentiment of many of the comments throughout the post. “Them really some beautiful kids,” and “Chi is such a gorgeous little girl” two other comments agree. Others crack jokes about how often the Kardashians put together elaborate parties and events. “I know their event planners make SO MUCH off of them every year!!” another top comment on the post reads. Check out the full videos Kim shared below.
Over the weekend, one of the stranger news stories involving Kim Kardashian emerged. Her shapewear brand SKIMS has had an incredibly successful few years and now has an enormous value of over $4 billion. But the company is now facing a lawsuit from one online user accusing them of using spyware to track her internet habits after she visited the site. She accuses the company of using a so called “trap and trace” to try and profit off of the online activity of their customers.
Last month, Kim Kardashian found herself in trouble with one particular group once again. The Swifties have had issues with Kim K since the very beginning of the feud with Taylor Swift that she inherited from Kanye West. The fury of fans came once again when Taylor claimed in an interview that Kim never apologized for leaking an altered version of a phone call between her and Kanye West. What do you think of Chicago West’s Bratz-themed birthday party? Let us know in the comment section below.
