Why Is Paula Abdul Suing Nigel Lythgoe?

In 2017, the #MeToo movement rocked Hollywood. Survivors banded together to shine a light on the industry’s underbelly. Following Cassie’s explosive rape and repeated physical abuse lawsuit against Diddy, people feel another reckoning is on the horizon. One of the latest entertainment professionals to come forward in the court of law is “Opposites Attract” singer, choreographer, and television host Paula Abdul.

On December 29, Abdul filed a lawsuit against Nigel Lythgoe in Los Angeles Superior Court.

Why Is Paula Abdul Suing Nigel Lythgoe?

According to documents obtained by Rolling Stone, Abdul accused Lythgoe of sexually assaulting her on multiple occasions. The pair worked together on competition shows, American Idol and So You Think You Can Dance. Abdul alleges that near the beginning of American Idol, Lythgoe assaulted her. Although she did not provide a specific timeline for the alleged attack, Lythgoe served in a producer role on American Idol off and on between 2004 and 2012 as documented on IMDB.

However, Abdul did claim in her legal paperwork that Lythgoe assaulted her again in 2014 when she served as a judge on So You Think You Can Dance. Lythgoe maintains his innocence in the matter. Read his full statement provided to TMZ below.

To say that I am shocked and saddened by the allegations made against me by Paula Abdul is a wild understatement. For more than two decades, Paula and I have interacted as dear — and entirely platonic — friends and colleagues. Yesterday, however, out of the blue, I learned of these claims in the press, and I want to be clear: not only are they false, but they are deeply offensive to me and to everything I stand for.

While Paula’s history of erratic behavior is well known, I can’t pretend to understand exactly why she would file a lawsuit that she must know is untrue. But I can promise that I will fight this appalling smear with everything I have.

Fabolous Seemingly Addresses Taina Williams’ Absent Father Accusations In New Freestyle

Back in October of last year, Fabolous shared a heartfelt post in honor of his daughter Journey’s birthday, but his stepdaughter Taina Williams wasn’t buying it. “I named you Journey because that’s really what it’s been,” he wrote. “Might not know when you going thru it, but you’ll get it at the end. I don’t believe you can have faith unless you trust the JOURNEY. You have taught me that so I look at you with understanding & love. Your life assures it will all add up… 10 • 10 • 2020. Happy Bday Journey Jackson.”

Williams took to his comments section to call him out, accusing the hitmaker of being an absent father. “This post is hilarious,” she commented alongside laughing emojis. “‘Might not know when you going thru it , but you’ll get it at the end’ Is Translation for = I haven’t taken care of my daughter in almost a year & don’t even ask about her well being because IDC & Im bitter & I’m only a father to my two beautiful sons who I can manipulate. Stop playing with the internet.”

Fabolous Unleashes “Selfish Freestyle”

Now, he’s seemingly responded to her comments in his new “Selfish Freestyle.” In the track, which he unleashed earlier this week, he appears to claim that he’s been there for Williams and her mother since she was a child. “Selfishness will make someone comment under your pic / When he took care of you and your momma since you were 6 / Who’s selfish?” he spits. Williams has yet to respond publicly to the apparent jab.

Commenters are debating in his comments section whether the apparent diss was warranted or if he crossed the line. What do you think of Fabolous seemingly throwing shade at his stepdaughter Taina Williams in his new freestyle? How do you like the track so far? What about her previously accusing him of being an absent father? Share your thoughts in the comments section down below, and keep an eye on HNHH for more updates.

USA Boxing Allows Transgender Fighters To Face Opponents Who Match Their Gender Identity

In a landmark decision, USA Boxing has announced that transgender fighters will be allowed to fight in sanctioned bouts with opponents matching their gender identity. The policy will take effect on January 1, 2024. Fighters must be over the age of 18 and have medically transitioned. Furthermore, they must be able to provide proof of quarterly hormone testing over the last four years. Violation of the policy will carry a one-year suspension for the fighter. No fights under this new policy have been announced at the time of writing. Founded in 1989, USA Boxing is the national governing board of Olympic-style boxing in the United States.

The decision of USA Boxing marks a break from the international boxing community’s consensus approach to transgender fighters. This is best summarized by WBC President Mauricio Sulaiman, whose organization has sought to establish an entirely separate set of weight divisions for transgender athletes. The ruling has seen significant backlash from anti-trans activists and a number of high-profile boxers, such as former IBF champion Ebanie Bridges. Several cisgender male boxers have also criticized the policy.

Ohio Governor Vetoes Ban On Transgender Athletes

The announcement of USA Boxing’s news policy is just the latest major transgender-related policy move. It comes days after Ohio Governor Mike DeWine vetoed a statewide ban on transgender minors competing in sporting activities that did not match their gender identity. While the Republican-controlled state legislature has enough votes for a veto override, Ohio has seen plenty of conflict within its Republican delegation. Furthermore, the bans will be challenged by federal protections passed by the Biden administration that will be enacted in 2024.

Furthermore, announcing his decision, DeWine stated that he did not believe that the bill was beneficial. DeWine said that the number of people affected by the bill would be small. However, he noted that for those children who face gender dysphoria and for their families, the consequences of this bill could not be more profound. Ultimately, I believe this is about protecting human life.” Ohio becomes one of the few holdouts in the US. More than 2020 states have enacted similar bills over the last two years.
