SOURCE SPORTS: Kyrie Irving Chooses to Opt-in for $37 Million Player Option With the Brooklyn Nets

Kyrie Nets

Despite rumors circulating about Kyrie possibly going to the Lakers, on Monday, it was announced that he would be returning for the Nets’ 2022-2023 season after opting in for his $37 million player option.

NBA insider Shams Charania made the announcement on Twitter.

“Brooklyn Nets star Kyrie Irving is opting into his $37 million player option for the 2022-23 season, @TheAthletic@Stadium has learned. Irving is bypassing on multiple opt-in and trade scenarios to fulfill his four-year commitment to the Nets and Kevin Durant,” Shams tweeted.

“Normal people keep the world going, but those who dare to be different lead us into tomorrow,” Irving said, per Charania. “I’ve made my decision to opt-in. See you in the fall.”

This comes after the Nets did not want to sign Kyrie to a long-term contract due to him missing over half of the 2021-2022 season over his unwillingness to get vaccinated and “unpredictable injury history.” The Nets front office apparently was going to offer the 7-time all-star a 5-year, $250 million contract.

Just last week Charania stated that Kyrie was most likely going to opt in for his player option, and explore a trade after.

Kendrick Lamar Explains To Crowd At Glastonbury Why He Wrote “Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers”

kendrick lamar glastonbury

Kendrick Lamar headlined Glastonbury this weekend. He made headlines for his powerful statement regarding women’s rights in wake of the SCOTUS deciding to overturn Roe V. Wade. His performance has since been praised by many publications and critics.

Kendrick also dropped his critically acclaimed 5th studio album Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers earlier this year. While the album received rave reviews from critics, the public perception of the album was mixed due to the themes surrounding mental health, the LBGTQ+ community, trauma, and sexual abuse.

While on stage during his Glastonbury performance, Kendrick shared with the crowd why he wrote the album, citing “everybody is going through something.”

“So many faces, y’all blessed me to be upon this stage. And you know we blessed to make sure we give y’all some sh*t you feel, and that’s the real reason why I wrote Mr. Morale, because everybody’s going through something. No matter what you’re going through, imperfection is beautiful.”

“I wear this crown. They judged Christ,” he added. “They judge you, they judge Christ… I wear this as a representation so you’ll never forget one of the greatest prophets that ever walked the earth.”

Drake Sells Hidden Hills “YOLO” Estate For 12 Million

Drake Sheds a Tear as Kanye West Performed "Runaway"

Drake’s YOLO estate has been on the market for a minute. 2 of the 3 homes sold back in March, leaving the main compound up for grabs.

But it looks like Drizzy was finally able to sell the last home to an unidentified buyer for $12 million, way under the nearly $15 million asking price. The main compound consists of 12,500 square feet, and includes six fireplaces, a wine cellar, and a 25-seat theater in addition to a recording studio.

After buying the property over a decade ago, Drake transformed the tudor-style home into a party house, equipped with basketball courts, tennis courts, swimming pools, a movie theatre, an 80-foot waterslide, and a grotto and full bar, with a 2,000 square foot master bedroom hidden behind a bookshelf.

The trio of houses went on sale back in March and attracted the attention of Caitlyn Kenner, Britney Spears, and others, but Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford purchased 2 of the 3 homes for $11 million just a month later.

In the same month that Drake put the estate up for sale, he purchased a 20,000-square-foot property in Beverly Crest. However, neither home is as grandiose as the 50,000-square-foot Toronto mansion nicknamed “The Embassy.”

Megan Thee Stallion Shares How Hot Cheetos Played Role in Roc Nation Deal

Megan Thee Stallion

In 2019, hot girl summer got even hotter, apparently thanks to Flaming Hot Cheetos, which played a role in the deal between superstar artist Megan Thee Stallion and Roc Nation Records.

While the record deal became official in September of 2019, Megan announced a new detail about the deal earlier this week, sharing that it was result of the typical industry variables that go into record deals as well as an unusual one: Flaming Hot Cheetos.

Megan shared the (literally) spicy details when she was speaking on the “If You’re Not First, You’re Last” panel at Cannes Film Festival in France earlier this week.

Megan noted that she thought she was just coming to meet with Roc Nation execs and get a standard tour. However, she got two surprises during her visit: Jay-Z and Jot Cheetos, saying: “I’m like, ‘I didn’t know JAY-Z was coming to my meeting! But he comes in the room and he has like six platters of Hot Cheetos and he’s like, ‘I heard you like Hot Cheetos!’ And I was sold.”

For those that may have forgotten the 2022 Super Bowl, Megan actually lent her talents for a Flamin’ Hot Cheetos and Doritos commercial during the iconic game.

Additionally, Megan will also be the subject of an upcoming Roc Nation documentary produced in  collaboration with Time Studios and directed by  Nneka Onuorahd, the director of “Lizzo’s Watch Out for the Big Grrrrls,” the competition series that is soon to debut soon on Prime Video.

According to Variety, the documentary project will “cover personal as well as career milestones, saying it will “touch on how Megan overcame various personal hurdles to thrive in her professional career.”

No release date or platform has been set for the documentary, but it will likely include Hot Cheetos
