Young Thug Wants To Help African Residents Trying To Escape Ukraine Amid Discrimination Accusations

Days after multiple videos emerged online purporting to depict Ukrainian authorities discriminating against African residents seeking to flee the nation as its ongoing conflict with Russia escalates, help for those residents may soon come from a surprising source: Young Thug. Thug posted to his Instagram Story offering his assistance and calling for his “rap brothers” to pitch in as well.

“lf some of my rap brothers are in, I’m willing to help Africans get out of Ukraine,” he wrote. “However I can sense they not letting us pass. Who ever holds the info for these movements please contact me ASAP I’m ready.” It didn’t take long for him to secure pledges from the likes of music impresario Kevin Liles, private jet broker Kelvin Mensah, and YSL Records rapper Strick, who all reshared his post.

Thugger is developing a penchant for putting his money where his mouth is when it comes to helping out those less fortunate than him. In 2017, he donated to Planned Parenthood against threats to defund the organization from Donald Trump, while in 2021, he and his artist Gunna paid bail for 30 Fulton County Jail inmates and hosted a dinner for their families while expressing plans to continue doing so in the future. He’s even gotten more hands-on of late, kicking off the new year by helping a stranded motorist jumpstart his car. Thugger is a man of the people.

Young Thug is a Warner Music artist. Uproxx is an independent subsidiary of Warner Music Group.

Method Man And Mary J Blige Win NAACP Image Awards For Their ‘Power Book II’ Roles

Mary J Blige and Method Man have made magic together for nearly 30 years, since their 1994 collaboration, “I’ll Be There For You/You’re All I Need To Get By” peaked at No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Last night, both were honored during the NAACP Image Awards with wins in the Outstanding Supporting Actor In A Drama Series for their roles in 50 Cent’s Starz crime drama, Power Book II: Ghost as drug matriarch Monét Tejada and shady lawyer Davis MacLean, respectively.

Mary celebrated her award with a post on Instagram thanking the NAACP Image Awards committee along with 50 Cent, Power creator Courtney A. Kemp, Starz CEO Jeffrey Hirsch, and the show’s cast, crew, and producers. Meanwhile, Method Man’s post about the win touted his new negotiating power as a two-time award winner, as he cracked in the caption: “Price just went up!!”

Both stars are flying high lately, but Mary J has been on another level thanks to her recent appearance in Dr. Dre’s Super Bowl halftime performance, which she followed up with an appearance during the NBA’s All-Star Weekend performance alongside DJ Khaled, Gunna, Lil Baby, Lil Wayne, and Migos. Meanwhile, 50 Cent even made a joking reference to Mary’s Power character after a viral moment with Michael Jordan.

Congrats to both stars for their wins as we look forward to seeing what they do next.

Labrinth & Zendaya Release “I’m Tired” Following “Euphoria” Season 2 Finale

Euphoria has come to an end for another season, but that doesn’t mean that the show’s creators are done feeding us new content quite yet. For those who loved Zendaya’s performance with Labrinth in the emotional final scene of episode four, you’ll be happy to know that “I’m Tired” has officially made its way onto DSPs.

Labrinth has played a huge hand in the show’s music so far, sharing “Yeh I F*ckin’ Did It” from the second episode of season two earlier this year, and earning the Emmy Award for Outstanding Original Music & Lyrics last season.

“Labrinth and Zendaya is the embodiment of Euphoria,” one listener wrote in the YouTube comments. “Their [voices] just speak euphoric together.” Another added, “Zendaya’s voice is something else, I can’t. Chills. And this duo, everything.”

Stream “I’m Tired” below, and look out for Euphoria actor Dominic Fike‘s “Elliot’s Song,” performed during the season two finale, arriving on streaming platforms on March 4th.

Quotable Lyrics:

Now the tide is rollin’ in
I don’t wanna win
Let it take me, let it take me
I’ll be on my way
How long can I stay?
In a place that can’t contain me

Chiiild Delivers Kid Cudi “Day N Nite” Cover

It seems Kid Cudi’s iconic “Day N Nite” single is having a bit of a resurgence of sorts, thanks to a couple of recent covers. Coldplay recently covered the record as part of their Spotify Singles records, which also included an acoustic cover of “Let Somebody Go.” The cover received enough attention that Cudder himself reacted to it on twitter, giving it his co-sign. We will have to see if that happens a second time with Chiiild’s take on the blog era record.

For the unfamiliar, the original version of “Day N Nite” dropped in 2008, however, the Crookers’ remix of the record, in 2009, truly catapulted the record, and Kid Cudi, to another stratosphere when it came to notoriety. The rest, as they say, is history.

In order to listen to Chiiild’s version of the record, you’ll have to be on Amazon Music, as it comes as part of their Black History Month rollout. Chiiild is a Montreal-born, burgeoning r’n’b artist who isn’t afraid to experiment with different sounds either. This is quite evident in the cover, which is at once subtle and overwhelming, thanks to an arrangement of instruments and Chiiild’s own subdued vocals.

We included the talented singer in our Next Generation of R&B feature last year, and we followed that up with an exclusive interview as part of our Rise & Grind series. It’s safe to say, we recommend keeping a watch on him this year, too.

Take a listen to the cover below and let us know what you think.

Kanye West Shares Photos From Studio Sesh With Beach House

Over the past eight months, Kanye West has delivered an abundance of music. He shared Donda in late August before unveiling the deluxe months later. And once 2022 began, the rapper announced that he started plotting on the release of Donda 2which partially arrived last week on his newly launched Stem Player.

However, it looks like Ye is already back in the studio, cheffing up even more music. This time, he wasn’t necessarily accompanied by a plethora of rappers. Instead, he linked up with dream-pop group Beach House. The rapper shared a slew of photos on his Instagram page this weekend from their recent studio session. John Cunningham, a collaborator on Donda 2, confirmed that Kanye West and Beach house are working together on new music in response to a tweet from Anthony Fantano.

Perhaps, the latest sessions are an indication that Kanye is planning to either release a new version of Donda 2 through his stem player or is cheffing up another new project entirely. Most recently, Rich The Kid revealed that he has a collaboration with Kanye West that he teased from his own YEEZY stem player device. Rich also joined Migos on stage at the Donda Experience in Miami last week.

Teyana Taylor Slams “CAP Ass TikTok Story” About Drug Use & Iman Shumpert

Teyana Taylor shot down an accusation that Iman Shumpert had cheated on her and that she is struggling with drug use. The baseless claim came from a TikTok account that takes “unconfirmed stories & parodies” from fans and reposts them.

Taylor has since deleted her post, but the caption had read: “The person who sent in this CAP ass TikTok story is a fool, the person who ‘re-enacted’ this CAP ass story is a fool (she better have her court coin ready) but the people who believed the CAP ass story are the biggest fools smh. Y’all allow a YT girl to pull some shit like this during Black History Month???”

The TikTok had alleged that one night, Taylor was found on a bathroom floor after having overdosed on “too much candy.”

“NOBODY AND I MEAN ABSOLUTELY NOBODY CAN MAKE PETUNIA OVERDOSE ON A DAMN THING,” Taylor wrote. “I’d kill @imanshumpert fine ass, put him in a nice suit and bury him my damn self before I EVER let him or ANYBODY to push me to do drugs or take myself out.”

Taylor went on to slam the poster for “preying on Black positive families that are thriving.”

Meagan Good Glows In A Gorgeous Pink Gown At The NAACP Image Awards

Meagan Good is headed back to the streets in style. At the end of 2021, the 40-year-old announced her separation from film producer DeVon Franklin after nearly a decade of marriage, and over the weekend, she attended the NAACP Image Awards sporting a bold new look that Twitter can’t stop thirsting over.

As Atlanta Black Star notes, Good’s gorgeous pink gown was designed by Maria Lucia Hohan and comes from her Spring/Summer 2022 collection; for accessories, she opted for a few delicate silver pieces that pair nicely with her strappy shoes.

Though her outfit caught our attention, what really got people talking was Good’s hairstyle, which looks seriously different from the short blonde bob she wore at her last public appearance for her hit Amazon Prime original series Harlem. “What a night, thank you @NAACP,” the Think Like A Man actress captioned her Instagram upload from the big event.

Comments about the stunning red carpet look have been pouring in across social media. “Meagan Good been Meagan Gooding like she ain’t Meagan Gooded before,” one user wrote. “Meagan Good know she is one of a kind fine. The sex appeal on that one,” another person added.

“I can’t get over this look,” yet another admired chimed in. “It’s so soft and pretty and feminine. Like she finna go brunch in the secret garden.”

Chaney Jones Shares Selfie With Kanye West

Since cutting ties with Julia Fox, Kanye West has seemingly/officially moved on with what many deem to be a Kim Kardashian clone, in IG model Chaney Jones. The two were spotted together early in February, even while Ye was publicly courting Julia Fox, however, now it seems the two have tightened their romantic grips on each other.

Following the Donda 2 event in Miami, the two were spotted leaving the venue together, with Kanye clearly enjoying his company, evidenced by the large grin he was wearing. Since that time, we’ve seen Chaney take to her Instagram to give us a glimpse at her time in Ye’s company, from the Donda 2 event itself to photos of the two. Despite Chaney co-signing their relationship publicly, gossip sources do say that Kanye is not serious about a relationship with her, rather, he likes her for the obvious fact that she does resemble his estranged wife, Kim Kardashian.

Nonetheless, Chaney seems to be paying this no mind. She took to Instagram earlier today to fan the flames by sharing a proper selfie with Kanye. She’s seen rocking black shades and a black tank top, while Kanye looks on from behind her, with his arm/hand seemingly wrapped around her. Chaney added a black heart emoji to the image, so we know it’s real. Behind them, there appears to be a window with a tropical view. The past few days, the IG model has been sharing swimsuit pics from Miami, Florida, so it’s likely this is the same location they took the selfie from.

Check out the new selfie as well as the recent photos of Chaney showing off her assets below.
