Megan Thee Stallion Says ‘Certain Things’ She’s ‘Never Said Out Loud Before’ On Her New Album

At some point in the not-so-distant future, Megan Thee Stallion is set to release a new album (which appears to be called Traumazine). Ahead of then, Meg has gone ahead and pulled back the curtain on the upcoming project a little bit via Twitter.

Last night, Megan started responding to fan tweets, with one fan asking, “You said the album was a lot of self-reflection. What inspired you to take this route for the album?” She replied, “I wrote this album for myself… I wanted to start writing in a journal but I said f*ck it I’ll put it in a song.”

Somebody else asked how long the tracklist is and Meg noted it’ll have 18 tracks. Another user wondered, “Was it hard for you to write songs for this project.” Meg answered, “Yes very [pleading face emoji] saying certain things you’ve never said out loud before is hard.”

A user asked if any songs on the album are going to be longer than two minutes and Meg said, “Now y’all know ima 3 verse type of girl so yes lol.”

Shortly after that, Megan decided she had spilled enough tea, tweeting, “Ok wait actually let’s not talk abt this tonight lol.”

Taylor Swift Says She Never Heard Of 3LW Before “Shake It Off” Lawsuit

Taylor Swift fired back at claims that she stole lyrics from 3LW to create her hit single, “Shake It Off.” According to USA Today, the pop star responded to the copyright lawsuit filed by Nathan Butler and Sean Hall, the songwriters behind 3LW’s 2000 record, “Playas Gon’ Play,” who claimed Swift stole lyrics from the record for her hit single.

In her new response to the lawsuit, which she filed on Monday, Swift said the lyrics to the song “were written entirely by me.” She also claimed that she never heard of 3LW prior to 2017, when she was initially sued. “Until learning about Plaintiffs’ claim in 2017, I had never heard the song ‘Playas Gon’ Play’ and had never heard of that song or the group 3LW,” she said. Additionally, she said she wasn’t allowed to watch MTV’s Total Request Live until she was 13 years old. 3LW’s “Playas Gon’ Play” dropped three years earlier, when Swift was 10.

“I do not recall listening to any specific radio stations during that time, but when I listened to radio it was generally country music. I did not watch the MTV show ‘TRL,’ and I did not go to clubs during this time,” Swift said. “The lyrics to ‘Shake It Off’ also draw from commonly used phrases and comments heard throughout my life. Prior to writing ‘Shake It Off’ I had heard the phrases ‘players gonna play’ and ‘haters gonna hate’ uttered countless times.”

Taylor added that the song’s inspiration came from the “unrelenting public scrutiny of my personal life, ‘clickbait’ reporting, public manipulation, and other forms of negative personal criticism.”

“With ‘Shake It Off,’ I wanted to provide a comedic, empowering approach to helping people feel better about negative criticism through music, dance, and the personal independence enabling one to just shake off the negative criticism,” she added.

Butler and Hall claimed that one part of Swift’s “Shake It Off” (“Cause the players gonna play, play, play, play, play/And the haters gonna hate, hate, hate, hate, hate”) infringed on 3LW’s “Playas Gon’ Play” (“The playas gon’ play/Them haters gonna hate” & “Playas, they gonna play/And haters, they gonna hate”).

The case against Taylor Swift has gone in and out of court. A first lawsuit was filed in 2017 before a judge dismissed it the following year because the claims were “too.” Eventually, it was re-introduced to court, and Swift was denied her request to dismiss the suit since the judge felt there were “enough objective similarities.”

Beyoncé Sent Madonna A Thankful Note After Their ‘Break My Soul’ Remix

So far, Beyoncé has offered plenty of ways to enjoy “Break My Soul,” whether it’s via the original version, one of the four remixes from the EP, or the Madonna-featuring “Queens Remix” of the song. After the latter version came out, Madonna got a nice gift from Beyoncé.

Yesterday, Madonna took to her Instagram Story to show off a note from Beyoncé, accompanied by some flowers. The message reads, “Thank you, Queen. I’m so grateful for you. You have opened so many doors for so many women. You are masterpiece genius. Thank you for allowing me to sing in your song and thank you for naming the remix!!!! Love always and forever, B.”

Madonna wrote on the post, “thank you!! from one [queen] to another [queen]. I love the Re-Mix! @beyonce.” She also shared another photo showing off the massive bouquet of white flowers.

As for the part of Beyoncé’s message about “allowing me to sing in your song” despite this being a remix of her own song, that’s a nod to the remix sampling Madonna’s “Vogue.”

The “Queens Remix,” true to its name, shouts out a number of prominent female musicians past and present, some of whom offered reactions to the nods.

Beyoncé’s “Break My Soul” Takes Hot 100 Top Spot

Beyoncé's "Break My Soul" Takes Hot 100 Top Spot

This Beyoncé run may be her best yet. With Renaissance already sitting on top of the Billboard 200, Beyoncé now has taken control of the Billboard Hot 100 with “Break My Soul.” Pulling off a trifecta, Beyoncé also holds the top spot on the Artist 100 chart.

Beyoncé’s reign at the top of the Artist 100 is a first since the start of the chart in 2014. The Renaissance album is the seventh No. 1 for Beyoncé and bowed with 332,000 equivalent album units.

“Break My Soul” jumps from No. 6 to No. 1, giving Beyoncé her eighth No. 1 single. All 16 tracks of the Renaissance album are placed in the Hot 100.

Beyoncé is the fifth woman to lead the Artist 100, Hot 100, and Billboard 200 charts at the same time. The other four are Taylor Swift, Adele, Ariana Grande, and Camilla Cabello.
