Flo Rida Is Suing Celsius For Over $30,000 For Breach Of Contract And More

Flo Rida is always thriving. Since the release of his hit “Low,” which he wrote in less than an hour, he’s been unstoppable. His success has brought him many opportunities, including a partnership with the energy drink brand Celsius. However, it looks like that went south.

According to Vibe, the rapper’s team is suing Celsius for breach of contract, unpaid royalties, exclusion from stock options, and more. They’re seeking over $30,000 in damages because of a breach in 2014 and 2016 when they had endorsement agreements. His team claims the company didn’t honor the guaranteed royalties and stock options.

“Even Celsius’ top management publicly recognized that the partnership between Flo Rida and Celsius accelerated the introduction of the Celsius brand to millions around the world and allowed Celsius to finally succeed at new levels,” the lawsuit reads.

About collaboration, Flo Rida said in a 2017 interview with Uproxx, “I’m always looking to be innovative. Looking for that new person that is as passionate as I am about the music. First and foremost, hats off to all the artists that I’ve worked with going back to my first album, from Lil Wayne to T-Pain and all the DJs like DJ Montay who did the “Low” record. Working with Will.i.am, working with Timbaland, Birdman, the list goes on.”

YSL Case: Juror Reportedly Skipped Court For Dominican Republic Trip

As if this case couldn’t take another twist, a juror in the YSL trial involving Young Thug has come under fire. Jury selection has been an arduous process, as a reported 600 potential jurors have been questioned. Atlanta Journal-Constitution reporter Jozsef Papp has kept the public updated on the selection, and on Twitter, he shared an eyebrow-raising update about Juror #64.

According to Papp, much of today’s hearing in the YSL case focused on potential jurors hardships. Some were pardoned due to work or personal reasons, but others were pushed forward in the selection process.

The second panel of 200 jurors was looked into, including a Paralympics athlete training for 2024. That person was reportedly excused from duty. Further, an APS teacher was denied, reported Papp, after stating she suffered from neck and back problems.

However, the more startling report was about Juror #64, who didn’t show up to the hearing at all.

“We are getting update on juror #64, who did report the first day last week but didn’t report yesterday,” Papp tweeted. “After deputies went to her address, she wasn’t there. Her grandmother told deputies she wasn’t there.”

“Deputies were able to get in contact with her,” he continued. “And she told them she was in the Dominican Republic and won’t return until tomorrow night.”

“Judge Glanville said she wants her taken to jail or to his courtroom, if court is still in session, upon her return to Atlanta.”

Meanwhile, as the jurors were questioned, reports state the judge advised them that the YSL case could take six to nine months. Additionally, eight of Young Thug’s co-defendants, including Gunna, have already taken plea deals.

Andrew Lincoln & Danai Gurira’s “Walking Dead” Spinoff Premiering In 2024

Since AMC’s “Walking Dead” premiered in 2010, the popular drama has spawned several successful seasons and spinoffs. Fans of the show have been anticipating a new series in particular, starring Andrew Lincoln as Rick Grimes and Danai Gurira, who acts as Michonne in the franchise.

But after the spinoff was expected to debut this year, Deadline reports that the new show has been pushed back to 2024.

AMC is currently gearing up for the release of “The Walking Dead: Dead City,” which will premiere on the network this June. “The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon” will come shortly after.

The prequel series “Fear The Walking Dead” will also end after its eighth season, with the first part dropping in May and the remaining six episodes premiering in late 2023.

“It’s a truly exciting year for the Walking Dead universe as we conclude an epic journey on “Fear the Walking Dead,” which became one of the most successful shows in the history of cable television,” AMC Studios president Dan McDermott reportedly shared about the upcoming content.

“And now we are set to bring forth the next iteration of the franchise – two new and anticipated series featuring the beloved characters of Maggie, Negan and Daryl,” he added. “Along with that we begin production on the next chapter in Rick and Michonne’s unforgettable love story, which we look forward to sharing next year.”

After developing a cult following on the AMC series, Gurira has continued to see her star rise, acting in The Black Panther, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, and multiple Avengers films. Lincoln has also kept a busy resume, recently starring in the Netflix anthology series “Guillermo del Toro’s Cabinet of Curiosities.”

But it looks like both are making time in their schedules to return to the apocalyptic franchise, with their spinoff starting production this year.

Lil Yachty Is Looking For An All-Women Band

Lil Yachty is one of the game’s most diverse young artists in the game. It appears as though his newest musical venture will be in association with a new band.

More specifically, the 25-year-old is looking to assemble a band of strictly women musicians.

On Tuesday (January 10), the “One Night” artist took to his social media accounts to share the news. “Yachty is putting a band together. I want an all-girls band,” he says in the post. The Georgia native says he’s looking for two-three background singers, a guitar player, a bass player, a drummer, as well as a keyboard player.

“Tryouts for my band Thursday. Shall the most talented women please pull up… Let’s Meet! See U Soon Ladies!” reads the caption.

In other recent news surrounding the “Yacht Club” rapper, he was unfortunately the victim of a significant leak. He was gearing up to release his new album, Sonic Ranch, sometime this year. After teasing its alternative and psychedelic sound for quite some time, it leaked online in its entirety in late December.

Additionally, he’s continuing to ride the success of his viral hit song, “Poland.” Of course, his latest full-length offering came in the form of 2021’s Michigan Boy Boat. The tape finds him putting on for the state’s booming hip-hop scene. It boasts features from rappers who come from all across Michigan, most notably Detroit and Flint. The project serves as a great look for some of the state’s hottest up-and-comers such as Veeze, Baby Smoove and Rmc Mike.

It will certainly be interesting to see what Yachty’s plans are with the new band. Hopefully it won’t be too long until we get to hear it.

Jai Paul’s Coachella Performance Will Be His First Live Show Ever

This year’s Coachella lineup is nothing short of historic. Bad Bunny is the first Latin act to headline the festival; Blackpink is the first girl group and K-pop act to headline. On top of all that, it’s Frank Ocean’s first show in a while and his Coachella performance has been long-awaited.

What’s more, Jai Paul is performing his first live show ever. The 34-year-old songwriter and producer is known for his enigmatic nature. Fellow Coachella performer Kaytranda expressed enthusiasm on Twitter: “forget about me performing, i’m going to see Jai Paul.”

Paul returned in 2019 with his first material since his debut album leak in 2013. “I wanted to use this opportunity to share a little information about what happened regarding my music in April 2013,” he wrote at the time. “As you may know, some of my unfinished demos were put up for sale illegally via Bandcamp. The leak consisted of a fairly random collection of tracks I had made over quite a long period of time (from roughly 2007 to 2013), in various stages of completion. Some are short skits and beats from my MySpace page back in the day before I signed a record deal. A large proportion of this music was to be completed and released officially in some format.”

He’ll be performing Sunday, April 16 and 23, the same days as Ocean.

Tory Lanez Song, “The Color Violet” Enters Billboard Hot 100

Tory Lanez is one of the most controversial artists in the world right now. On December 23, he was found guilty for shooting Megan Thee Stallion in the foot in 2020.

However, it seems as though the “Say It” artist is still receiving plenty of streams from behind bars.

On Billboard‘s Hot 100 chart dated for the week of January 14, 2023, one of the Canadian artist’s singles, “The Color Violet,” makes a new appearance at #87. Furthermore, Lanez himself appears on the Billboard Global 200 chart for artists, at #122 there.

The 30-year-old dropped “The Color Violet” in 2021, as the fourth track off of his sixth studio album, Alone At Prom. The project features distinct ’80s-inspired production.

Of course, this news comes just a few weeks after Lanez’s guilty verdict in the Megan Thee Stallion trial. The jury is responsible for declaring him guilty of all three charges against him. This includes carrying a loaded and unregistered firearm in a vehicle, assault with a semiautomatic handgun and discharging a firearm with gross negligence.

However, new reports indicate that the Chixtape rapper has fired his attorney. He’s hiring Suge Knight’s former lawyer, David Kenner, as his replacement.

“Kenner is a longtime criminal defense attorney whose clients include former Death Row Records CEO Suge Knight. Anyone with actual experience in criminal law (not all lawyers) will tell you he’s joining the case a bit late: Before trial would have been better,” says legal reporter Meghann Cuniff in a tweet.

Earlier today, TMZ began circulating photos of the “Savage” rapper’s injured foot from the shooting. The set of photos also includes x-rays of her injury, as well as images of a bloody suitcase in the backseat of the vehicle where the incident occurred.

The sentencing was originally set to take place soon, on January 27. However, the hiring of his new attorney may cause a delay now. The Toronto native faces up to 22 years in years in prison.

What are your thoughts on “The Color Violet” cracking the Billboard Hot 100? Comment below. Finally, make sure to stay tuned to HNHH for all of the latest updates and stories in music and pop culture.
