Lil Yachty On Hiring All Women For His Band: “I Feel Like They Rule The World”

Lil Yachty says that he wanted to showcase that “women can shred just as good as men” when deciding to go with an all-women band. He explained the decision during an interview with Grammy.com. Yachty is working with bass player Téja Veal, drummer Monica Carter, guitarist Quenequia Graves, keyboardist Kennedy Avery Smith, and vocalists Lea Grace Swinson and Romana R. Sainti.

“My life is surrounded by women — my two assistants, my mother as a manager, a lot of my friends are women,” Lil Yachty said. “Women really help me throughout my day. I just think that women are so powerful. I feel like they rule the world. They are the most important aspect to this world and they don’t get enough credit or shine, especially Black women. So that was my aura behind it. I just wanted to showcase that women can shred just as good as men.”

From there, Yachty praised the musicians for being consummate professionals. “They’re all so talented, so they all learned it very quick,” he said. “I gave [the music] to them early and gave them the stems. When it was day one, they all knew the songs. Even my new guitarist that came in later than everyone, she came in knowing the music.”

He added: “The rehearsal project for this tour was a little different because I’m reconstructing the whole album. I’m moving everything around and changing all the transitions and trying to make it trippy. So it’s a process of me figuring out how I want to do things. But they’re so talented and so smart, all I have to do is tell them what I want, and they’ll do it instantly.” Yachty is currently performing with the band on his Field Trip Tour. Deion Sanders Wants Colorado Band To Adopt HBCU Sound & Style

Deion Sanders recently met with the Colorado Buffaloes’ band director to adopt a style more akin to HBCUs. Moreover, many expressed anger and disappointment when Sanders made the call to step down as coach of a historically black university. However, it seems he wants to inject that experience into his current tenure coaching a new football team. Furthermore, Jackson State fans and players were familiar with his line of “Now give me my theme music” at the end of his pregame speech. Now, he suggested that Colorado adopt some of that same sound both on and off the field to boost morale.

“At HBCUs, it’s kind of traditional that the bands kind of coincides,” he expressed in a YouTube video from Well Off Media. “I know it’s a difference, but it don’t have to be. We like one big happy family. We’re probably gonna have a new theme song that I want you guys to get and it’s not hard. And I think you can knock it out of the park. It’ll take it to a whole new level when the band is able to execute it. That’s going to be good. Really, really good.”

Moreover, the NFL star’s new theme would reportedly replace “Here I Go” by rapper Mystikal, although it’s unclear if it will still be incorporated. While he asked for the new music to be played for the group in the video, the audio was removed from the clip. In particular, people thought his discrimination in picking quarterbacks versus defensive players was close-minded.

Lil Yachty Is Looking For An All-Women Band

Lil Yachty is one of the game’s most diverse young artists in the game. It appears as though his newest musical venture will be in association with a new band.

More specifically, the 25-year-old is looking to assemble a band of strictly women musicians.

On Tuesday (January 10), the “One Night” artist took to his social media accounts to share the news. “Yachty is putting a band together. I want an all-girls band,” he says in the post. The Georgia native says he’s looking for two-three background singers, a guitar player, a bass player, a drummer, as well as a keyboard player.

“Tryouts for my band Thursday. Shall the most talented women please pull up… Let’s Meet! See U Soon Ladies!” reads the caption.

In other recent news surrounding the “Yacht Club” rapper, he was unfortunately the victim of a significant leak. He was gearing up to release his new album, Sonic Ranch, sometime this year. After teasing its alternative and psychedelic sound for quite some time, it leaked online in its entirety in late December.

Additionally, he’s continuing to ride the success of his viral hit song, “Poland.” Of course, his latest full-length offering came in the form of 2021’s Michigan Boy Boat. The tape finds him putting on for the state’s booming hip-hop scene. It boasts features from rappers who come from all across Michigan, most notably Detroit and Flint. The project serves as a great look for some of the state’s hottest up-and-comers such as Veeze, Baby Smoove and Rmc Mike.

It will certainly be interesting to see what Yachty’s plans are with the new band. Hopefully it won’t be too long until we get to hear it.
