Alabama Mayor Dies By Suicide After Cross-Dressing Photos

Smiths Station, Alabama Mayor F.L. “Bubba” Copeland died by suicide on Friday after a conservative blog, 1819 News, published photos of him wearing women’s clothing as a “hobby.” In alternate social media accounts, Copeland used the name Brittini Blaire Summerlin and referred to himself as a “Transitioning Transgender Curvy Girl.” In doing so, he used both Reddit and a private Instagram page.

Police performed a welfare check on Copeland, Friday, during which the Mayor, who also serves as a pastor at First Baptist Church, stepped out of his car and shot himself. The church addressed his death in a statement on Saturday. “Thank you all for your prayers and expressions of sympathy and support. First and foremost, we ask that you keep Pastor Bubba Copeland’s family in your prayers today, and in the days ahead,” the statement reads. “We greatly appreciate your messages, comments, and encouragement. Please continue to pray for us as we move forward in sharing God’s love too all people.”

Copeland addressed the scandal during a sermon earlier in the week. He labeled the story an “internet attack” and explained he had taken pictures with his wife “in the privacy of our home,” and he apologized for “any embarrassment” he caused by his “private and personal life.” In a statement provided to 1819 News in response to the website’s story. Copeland said: “What I do in private life has nothing to do with what I do in my holy life. Does this have any effect on me being mayor, that I sometimes put on a dress or sometimes put on makeup? Does that have anything to do whatsoever with me being mayor or being a pastor?”

The 1819 News post was published by Craig Monger, who defended his reporting in response to initial backlash on Twitter. “‘Digging up someone’s personal life’ is reporting on what someone posts publicly on social media? Interesting take. The Alabama Baptist reported on the church’s live stream. I actually spoke to the mayor,” he wrote in response to a critic. He has not posted since Copeland’s suicide.

Pressa Won’t Go Back To “Minimum Wage” On Hard-Hitting New Single: Stream

Toronto rapper Pressa is making sure that you won’t forget about his place in the game as we near the end of 2023. Moreover, he just came through with a new song and music video, “Minimum Wage,” and it chronicles his desire to never work for that again. Of course, this MC of Filipino and Jamaican heritage goes through the usual suspects: getting his money up in his career, being good with the ladies, but still remembering the harsh realities he came up in. Much like previous material, such as his May single “Unfollow Me,” this new track displays his penchant for effortless flows and a dangerously infections vocal tone.

Furthermore, “Minimum Wage” is quite the dramatic and picture-painting cut, whether that’s instrumentally or lyrically. With deep piano chords, atmospheric synth pads, a catchy little whistle melody, and busy percussion, the beat is dynamic enough to engage, but not stacked enough to distract. Pressa’s lyrics aren’t always introspective or deep, but the “Blame Me” artist still comes through with vivid descriptions. “You don’t know how it feel to be locked in the cage and run out of numbers to dial,” he raps at one point. Either way you slice it, the 27-year-old definitely knows how to put a lot of weight behind his material.

Meanwhile, we’re sure that Pressa will continue to excel and impress, such as through potent guest verses on projects like Top5’s Pedro Activated and Tony Yayo’s The Loyal from this year. All we can hope for is that 2024 is an even bigger year for him. If you haven’t heard “Minimum Wage” yet, find it on your preferred streaming service and check out the music video above. Glokknine Stabbed In Prison Over Snitching Rumors, 1090 Jake Alleges

During a recent interview with VladTV, 1090 Jake spoke on Glokknine. The rapper is currently serving seven years behind bars for gun charges, identity theft, and more. According to the internet personality, he hasn’t been faring so well in prison. 1090 Jake alleges that Glokknine was stabbed by another inmate recently, which he says he learned from the Orlando native’s girlfriend.

He went on to explain why he believes the rapper was stabbed, claiming that Ola Runt was behind it. He had Tweeted something with rat emojis, suggesting that Glokknine snitched on somebody. “Damn Glokk9 you went out bad [rat emojis],” the Tweet reads. The rumor got out of hand, leading to some tension among the inmates. 1090 Jake looked into his paperwork, noting that his plea deal included a section stating that if the rapper cooperated with authorities, he could be shown more leniency.

1090 Jake Speaks On Glokknine’s Alleged Prison Stabbing

Though Glokknine did sign the agreement, 1090 Jake says that prosecutors admitted he didn’t cooperate at any point. He adds that they later came out with an amended plea agreement with that section removed. “She believes that this is where the allegations came from,” he says of Glokknine’s girlfriend. “Apparently he got moved on inside of the federal prison because someone sent in that first plea without sending in the amended [plea].”

These aren’t the only false snitching allegations 1090 Jake has spoken on as of late, however. During the interview, he also shut down rumors that Ralo snitched. According to him, Ralo allegedly tried to pay others to take the fall for fake crimes. This was in an attempt to reduce his own sentence, however, it didn’t work out. What do you think of 1090 Jake’s claim that Glokknine was allegedly stabbed in prison because Ola Runt called him a snitch? Macklemore Delivered A Stern Speech At The Pro-Palestine Rally Held In Washington, DC

Macklemore became popular in the early 2010s thanks to his feeling-good and light-hearted breakout single “Thrift Shop.” Since then, the rapper’s discography has broadened to address several social issues, such as substance abuse. In the years since, he’s kept his artistry intertwined with political discourse, tackling issues like the election of former President Donald Trump, marriage equality, the opioid crisis, and police brutality.

On Saturday, November 4, Macklemore showed his support for the growing Free Palestine movement, delivering a speech at the pro-Palestine rally in Washington, D.C. You can read what he said below.

First and foremost, this is absolutely beautiful to observe today. I didn’t expect to be on a microphone. There are thousands of people here more qualified to speak on the issue of a free Palestine than myself. But I will say this. They told me to be quiet. They told me to do my research, to go back, that it’s too complex to say something, right? To be silent in this moment. In the last three weeks, I’ve gone back, and I’ve done some research … I’m teachable. I don’t know enough. But I know enough that this is a genocide.

Macklemore isn’t the only musician to speak up about the ongoing conflict between the Israeli military and Hamas forces. In a petition directed at President Joe Biden, Cat Powers, Clairo, Kaytranda, Kehlani, Jennifer Lopez, Majid Jordan, Snoh Aalegra, Vic Mensa, Victoria Monét, and more urged the president to demand an immediate cease-fire.

Some artists covered here are Warner Music artists. Uproxx is an independent subsidiary of Warner Music Group.
