So far, the 2024 award session has been the talk of the town (a.k.a. social media). That communal conversation will continue this week as the highly-anticipated Grammys ceremony is set to take place. With Trevor Noah on hosting duty for the evening, viewers and attendees are guaranteed an entertaining event (sorry, Jo Koy). But while the jokes make the night pass smoothly, the Grammys is all about who walks away with the coveted gramophone trophy.
Last year’s ceremony was filled with record-setting moments thanks to Beyoncé. This year’s event could follow suit as acts like SZA and Victoria Monét lead the nomination pack. So, when can you tune into the broadcast?
What Time Do The Grammys 2024 Start?
The 2024 Grammys are scheduled to take place on Sunday, February 4. Music’s biggest names will gather for the revered ceremony at the Crypto Arena in Los Angeles, California. If you aren’t lucky enough to have secured a ticket to the event, you will just have to view it from the comfort of your couch like millions of others via CBS or log onto Paramount+.
The official award ceremony will begin broadcasting at 5 p.m. PT (8 p.m. ET). However, if you’re interested in checking out the fashion looks from the red carpet or pre-show interview, you can tune into the Recording Academy’s YouTube livestream at 3:30 p.m. ET. The scene appeared in Season 4, Episode 13 of the long-running drama about a woman seeking escape from a sexually exploitative religious cult. While the show has often dealt with heavy topics. However, this moment appeared to go beyond the pale for many viewers.

There is ZERO reason to show that type of violence happening to black women,” one fan on X wrote. Meanwhile, others called or an immediate boycott of Perry’s work. Furthermore, another line of thinking was to link Tyler Perry to Vince McMahon, who was recently accused of sexual assault.
Ruthless Scene Derails Promotion For Other Tyler Perry Projects
I wish I had never come across that clip from Tyler Perry’s show and those of you retweeting it need to be mindful of others who have been assault victims seeing that and being triggered.
However, the ripples have gone far beyond the pond as the response to the scene in Ruthless spreads. Fans also took aim at Perry for co-opting the stories of women (while explicitly showing harm to them as well). This manifested in the response to the first released images of Six Triple Eight. The Kerry Washington-led film, directed by Perry, tells the story of the 6888th Central Postal Directory Battalion, an all-Black, all-women overseas battalion during World War Two.
The Six Triple Eight is a deeply overlooked piece of military history, serving as the only predominantly all-Black Women’s Army Corps battalion during the Second World War. However, especially in the wake of the latest episode of Ruthless, many have questioned by Perry is the one directing the project. The irony of a man directing the story about an overlooked part of women’s history has not been lost on many commenters.

There’s every indication that 2024 will be a huge year for Top Dawg Entertainment. Despite Kendrick Lamar moving on from the label after releasing all of his studio albums on it, they still have a stacked roster of talent. Earlier this week during a special 10th anniversary show for Isaiah Rashad’s Cilvia Demo a document they passed out made the rounds online. The document claimed that new projects were coming out from nearly every single artist on the label. It even included projects from three brand-new artists, though their names were blacked out.
Only two of the albums they’ve confirmed are currently known about. The first is SZA’s which many fans suspect is her previously announced SOS deluxe editionLANA. Earlier this week, Schoolboy Q announced his new album Blue Lips which drops in early March. It’s his first studio album since 2019’s Crash Talk. Other big TDE artists like Doechii, Jay Rock, Ab-Soul, and more are also expected to drop new projects this year. During a ceremony earlier this week, SZA paid tribute to the label’s founders who set up the potential for all of this in the first place.
Top Dawg and Punch, who founded Top Dawg Entertainment in 2004, are the newest recipients of the Billboard Visionary Award. For the presentation they got one of the label’s defining artists, SZA, to give a speech and she didn’t disappoint. “I was just talking to Punch the other day about how much vision he had to have to see what he saw in me with no credentials,” she began.
“I really was looking insane and behaving insane and refused writers and all these things, and he believed in me. People would come to him and tell him he should change how I look, or I should be doing these kind of beats or working with these writers, and he didn’t change a single thing about me,” her speech continued. As it turns out, Sukihana got to sit down with Bobbi Althoff for an interview. Clearly, the claims of Althoff falling off came a bit too soon. In fact, these two have actually hung out together in the past. As we reported previously, they were at the club together, although it was definitely a bit awkward. Now, the two have reunited, and they are sitting down for a conversation that we’re sure is going to be interesting. In a new clip that surfaced online, Suki found out whether or not Bobbi has rhythm.
Bobbi was quick to say that she can’t dance and it is due to a lack of rhythmic timing. That is when Suki started clapping and asked if Althoff could keep time. Interestingly enough, Althoff passed the test and Suki was very impressed. Subsequently, Suki got up and taught Althoff some dance moves. Althoff did it apprehensively and it was clear that she was correct in her own assessment of her dancing. Regardless, it seemed like they were having a good time, with Suki writing, “I think suki and Bobbi together is the best of both worlds.”

Rich Paul has shut down any speculation that LeBron James will be traded at the NBA trade deadline. “LeBron won’t be traded, and we aren’t asking to be,” Paul said in response to growing speculation that LeBron might be leaving the Lakers midseason. Of course, LeBron hasn’t helped quiet the rumors. Following a loss to the Lakers earlier this week, LeBron posted an hourglass emoji to social media.
The Lakers are 25-25 and sit in 9th in the Western Conference. LeBron sat out the team’s 50th game, a surprise win over the Celtics that showcased the team’s young and emerging talent. However, the Lakers have reportedly been active in trade talks as they look to bolster the roster for the final 32 games of the season.
However, Paul’s comments about his biggest client haven’t stopped people from making their trade pitches regardless. Stephen A. Smith has caused a stir after using a segment on First Take to pitch a deadline trade between his Knicks and the Lakers to acquire LeBron James. Smith’s pitch is more based on the vibes of “LeBron at MSG” rather than how LeBron would actually make the Knicks a better team. Smith’s Knicks are currently in the East and are riding a six-game winstreak. However, they recently lost the team’s second scorer, Julius Randle, until at least after the All-Star Game.
