Kanye West Claims He Is Being Blackballed By Major Concert Venues For Obvious Reasons

After several delays, it looks like Kanye West is finally dropping his Ty Dolla Sign collaboration album, Vultures this Friday (February 8) — maybe. But either way, it appears that Ye is having trouble booking venues. In a clip shared to social media, Ye expressed frustration after having supposedly been blackballed by the live music industry.

“We just sold out the United Center in seven minutes and I just wanted to express to everybody out there to see if anybody can help with this,” Ye said in his Instagram Story. “It’s the only arena I had access to in the past year. And when I call, people say there’s no availables for me and you know why that is. If there’s anybody out there that can help with this, please do.”

As for “you know why that is,” Ye is likely referring to his various antisemitism controversies (or his various non-antisemitism controversies).

In following Stories, Ye shared that he reached out to rapper Freddie Gibbs for help. Shortly after, Gibbs informed Ye that several venues across the world are supposedly interested in booking him.

Gibbs shared a spreadsheet of venues that supposedly expressed interest in booking him. Venues in Atlanta, Chicago, Los Angeles, and New York City are evidently wanting to add him to their lineup. Internationally, it looks like venues in Cairo, Dubai, and London may book him soon as well. It appears that if Ye is to tour soon, the tour will kick off this June, and go until 2025.

You can see details of Ye’s and Gibbs’ chat above.

Will Ludacris And Lil Jon Perform With Usher At The Super Bowl Halftime Show?

Usher is just a few days away from performing the Super Bowl Halftime Show at Las Vegas’ Allegiant Stadium. Given he has had several hits throughout the years, and a ton of collaborators, it has raised the question if he’ll be bringing any surprise guests — or just tackling the show solo.

Will Ludacris And Lil Jon Perform With Usher At The Super Bowl Halftime Show?

Earlier this morning, a teaser for Usher’s performance dropped, and it takes an interesting premise. Ludacris, Lil Jon, and Taraji P. Henson are working on finding Usher, as apparently, he is missing. Considering he is set to have his new album, Coming Home, drop on Friday, maybe that is when they’ll be able to find him.

Yet, it also possibly teases Usher performing “Yeah” at the Super Bowl, with hopefully his original collaborators (Ludacris and Lil Jon) joining him on stage. Considering they appeared in the Apple Music video, and Apple sponsors the Halftime Show, the three playing the hit together feels like a safe bet.

As for some other potential collaborators that could join Usher, anyone from his new album could be fair game, including maybe even Jung Kook from BTS.

Other key options include “My Boo” with Alicia Keys, “Best Thing” with Jay-Z, and “Somebody To Love” with Justin Bieber — although the last one is a reach, as it’s Bieber’s track. Never say never.

G Herbo Offers Advice To Artists, Advises Stepping Out Of Comfort Zone

In the fast-paced and competitive world of the music industry, artists often find themselves at a crossroads between staying within their comfort zones and venturing into uncharted territories. Chicago-born rapper G Herbo, known for his gritty lyrics and authentic storytelling, recently shared valuable advice for aspiring artists looking to make the most of Grammy weekend and beyond. When asked about his insights on networking and navigating the complexities of the music industry during Grammy weekend, G Herbo emphasized the significance of stepping out of one’s comfort zone.

During The Labels Brunch Grammy week event hosted Uproxx and Velcro Records, G Herbo stopped by HotNewHipHop on the carpet. He asserted, “I learned that taking yourself out of your comfort zone is the best thing you can do as an artist. You just gotta say f*** it in a way and just do it.” For emerging artists eager to leave their mark, the allure of staying within the confines of familiarity can be strong. However, G Herbo’s advice underscores the importance of embracing discomfort as a catalyst for growth and success. The Grammy weekend, with its congregation of industry professionals, presents a prime opportunity for artists to forge connections, build relationships, and showcase their talent on a grand stage.

Austin Rivers Explains Why Bronny James Shouldn’t Play With LeBron, Stephen Jackson Responds By Calling Rivers A “Scrub”

Stephen Jackson took offense to Austin Rivers’ rationale behind why LeBron and Bronny shouldn’t play on the same team if Bronny makes the move to the NBA. “Difference is you trash, Bronny not. You can’t compare to him scrub. And your daddy not LeBron. Shut up,” Jackson wrote in the comments on an Instagram post reporting Rivers’ comments on ESPN. It’s a bizarre reaction given that Rivers had been arguing that Bronny doesn’t need the added obstacle of playing in his father’s shadow. “I don’t want to see Bronny play with [LeBron]… Him getting drafted & playing with his dad, I don’t want that negativity to come his way. He doesn’t deserve it… [He needs to] play somewhere where he can niche out his own identity,” Rivers told NBA Today.

Furthermore, despite Jackson’s passionate defense, Bronny has not exactly been living up to expectations at the college level. While his sidelining due to a congenital heart issue must be acknowledged, Bronny has struggled to elevate his game. Bronny is currently averaging 5.9/2.9/2.6 off the bench for a floundering USC squad. His draft projection has gone from late first-round to being omitted from many mock drafts entirely. As much as Jackson may like Bronny, there is not a lot going on game nights to back up the defense.

Where Will Bronny James End Up?

It;s widely expected that if Bronny James doesn’t become a Laker this summer, LeBron will decline his player option year and follow his son to a new team. Prior to Bronny’s struggles at USC, one potentially floated destination was being drafted by Atlanta. One person who seemed excited by this was Hawks star Trae Young. Last summer, in response to an NBA Central post hypothesizing a LeBron-Bronny partnership on the Hawks, Young tweeted “Talk soon” in response. This immediately set off the rumor mill that the Hawks might push for a LeBron trade.

However, for the time being, LeBron is seeing out the year in LA. “LeBron won’t be traded, and we aren’t asking to be,” Rich Paul said in response to growing speculation that LeBron might be leaving the Lakers midseason. Of course, LeBron hasn’t helped quiet the rumors. Following a Lakers loss last week, LeBron posted an hourglass emoji to social media.

Megan Thee Stallion Gets Hennessy Message Following Viral Straw Video

Hennessy suggested Megan Thee Stallion use their own metal straw to drink their product after she went viral, earlier this week, for using plastic straw to sip straight from the bottle. Megan had been celebrating the success of her new single, “Hiss.”

“If we go number one, bitch, I might put the straw back in the fifth of Hennessy, bitch. I might have to go back,” she told fans last week. When that came true, she made good on her word and hopped on a live stream to celebrate.

I feel like I’ve never been able to be outside doing my own thing during the summer, since like 2019. So this is gonna be the first time that I drop an album on time for the summer. I do wanna give the Hotties the Megan Thee Stallion experience.” Check out Hennessy’s post for Megan below.

Hennessy Responds To Megan Thee Stallion

As for “Hiss,” the song has been making countless headlines for sparking a feud with Nicki Minaj. In the lyrics, Megan makes a dig at the rapper’s husband, Kenneth Petty, for being a registered sex offender. Nicki fired back with a diss track of her own titled, “Big Foot.” Be on the lookout for further updates on Megan Thee Stallion as well as Nicki Minaj on HotNewHipHop.

Logic Emotionally Confronts His Father For Massive $850K Home Request

More money, more problems is a very resonant statement when you really analyze it. No matter where you are on the socioeconomic scale, different issues will come with it. With Logic being in the top percentile of earners, he has to deal with providing for others and making correct big business decisions. This is something that the Maryland MC has spoken about quite frequently. He has been a pretty open book about his rough upbringing in a crowded household. Logic’s father, Sir Robert Bryson Hall, has especially been a sensitive topic. Their relationship has been rocky, to say the least.

Logic has talked about his father asking him to fork over massive amounts of money in interviews with numerous publications. He even brought his dad onstage during a tour performance to officially sign him to Bobby Boy Records, to financially take care of him. Which is why this latest sit-down with his caretaker is not too surprising.

Logic Gets Real With His Father

The veteran lyricist got quite passionate with his dad about the time he once asked his son to give him $850,000 for a house. His dad is/was in a band and wanted a place where they could record music together. Logic told his father that he did not want to do it because he did not want to see him waste it. But all these issues Logic had extended beyond his dad. Because of how many siblings he has, he has been fed up with seeing them waste the funds he has handed out to them. Hence why his father never received crazy amounts. But, Logic still has a lot of love for his pops, making that clear throughout the clip above. It sounds like Logic never really got to have this sort of conversation with him before. Hopefully, things can smooth themselves out, and their relationship can be stronger than it has been.

What are your thoughts on Logic talking to his father about their problems on the internet face to face? Was this a smart thing to do, why or why not? Did you know Logic had issues with his family like this? Do you think this is something that will come up in his next album, Ultra 85? We would like to hear what you have to say about all of this. With that in mind, be sure to leave all of your hottest takes in the comments section below. Additionally, always keep it locked in with HNHH for all of the latest news surrounding Logic. Finally, stay with us for everything else going on around the music world.

Child Rebel Soldier: A Promising Supergroup That Never Materialized

Arguably one of hip hop’s greatest supergroup moments was Child Rebel Soldier, consisting of Kanye West, Lupe Fiasco, and Pharrell Williams. Unfortunately, the trio’s run was short-lived, releasing only two songs and a remix as a group in its three-year duration. Though each carried on to achieve great success following their dissolution, the idea of Child Rebel Soldier still was exciting for fans. Before joining together, each of them had previously worked with one another on various tracks. Kanye featured on Pharrell’s “Number One,” The Neptunes produced Lupe’s “I Gotcha,” and Kanye and Lupe teamed up on “Touch The Sky.” While we did not get much music from them together, the group marked a promising union between three of hip-hop’s most creative and eccentric minds that helped shape the genre. Today, we are looking into a brief history of the promising supergroup that was Child Rebel Soldier.

Formation Of A Hip Hop Supergroup

Child Rebel Soldier first emerged in 2007 with “Us Placers,” their first song as a group. The Lupe Fiasco-produced track was included on Kanye West’s Can’t Tell Me Nothing mixtape that preceded Graduation. Originally intended for a Thom Yorke-inspired mixtape, Lupe sent the beat to Kanye and The Streets, who never responded. Pharrell eventually hopped on the track and Child Rebel Soldier was born. Lupe told BBC News in 2008 that forming the group “was Pharrell’s idea one day in the studio ‘cause we’re all similar. Same likes and same dislikes, same goals and aspirations. So on that level, we wanted to create some music.” Pharrell also came up with the name Child Rebel Soldier.

A Short-Lived Run

Following “Us Placers,” Child Rebel Soldier toyed with the possibility of an album. Lupe Fiasco and Pharrell opened for Kanye West on his 2008 Glow in the Dark Tour. That same year, Pharrell’s band, N.E.R.D. recruited Child Rebel Soldier and Pusha T for the remix of “Everybody Nose.” Rumblings of a potential album continued into 2010. Lupe Fiasco told DJ Green Lantern that Pharrell hit him up about finishing the CRS project, with 4 songs completed.

That same year, CRS’s last song, “Don’t Stop” arrived as part of Kanye West’s “GOOD Friday” series in promotion of My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy. Upon its release, Lupe Fiasco spoke to MTV News about how the song was an older recording and an experiment in pinpointing their group sound: “That song is like a song that we did in the midst of being CRS. When we were actually going to put out an album and just really wanted to test records and see if we should do more records like that, or should do more records like ‘Us Placers.’ We were just trying to figure out what we should do and that was one of the experiments that was bananas.”

Despite positive reception and support for their music, Lupe told MTV that it is the fans are responsible for the materialization of a Child Rebel Soldier album. “If people want it, then we’ll do it. But if the demand is not there, it’ll just be as we get to it,” he said. Lupe also elaborated that he, Kanye, and Pharrell were prioritizing their solo works. “It’s going to take a lot of time to come off our schedules,” he explained. Unfortunately, the Child Rebel Soldier album never came to fruition.

An Open Ending To Child Rebel Soldier

After years and no updates on Child Rebel Soldier, Lupe Fiasco officially declared that “The CRS group is canceled.” “Done. Not happening. Stop Asking,” he said in a 2013 tweet. He later specified in a 2020 tweet that he thinks that Kanye and Pharrell have moved on from the group. He proposed a new idea. “I think a new trio of young MCs/producers should pick up where we left off and do it. CRS re-casted. I’d support that,” he said.

For many years, there had been no developments in the Child Rebel Soldier saga until Lupe Fiasco placed the group album as “TBD” in a 2022 update of all his upcoming releases. Sounding too good to be true, a fan tweeted Lupe for some old CRS music in 2023. Lupe replied with a screenshot of a text conversation between him and Tyler, The Creator, sharing some “rough demo sketches [he] did for CRS.” “Tyler has them,” Lupe said in the latest update about the group’s future. Overall, Child Rebel Soldier was a promising supergroup that never fully materialized but gave fans glimpses of their full potential over the years.

Kyrie Irving Seemingly Blames Eric Adams For Nets Exit Amid Return To Brooklyn

Kyrie Irving took shots at New York Mayor Eric Adams amid his first game back in Brooklyn. “Thank Eric Adams for that,” Irving told a fan after the asked why Irving “didn’t play like this for the Nets”. Irving’s comment is a direct shot at New York’s strict vaccine mandate during the first years of the COVID-19 pandemic. Irving was essentially suspended by the Nets as he was unable to train with the team or play home games due to his unvaccinated status. The rules were later amended almost in service of allowing Irving to play. However, Irving’s Nets tenure would suffer through many more speed bumps before his trade to Dallas.

Furthermore, Irving addressed his return to Brooklyn at the post-game press conference. “I just think it was time to get my own peace of mind and go somewhere where I was able to thrive, and be in a situation where I didn’t have to worry about kind of behind-the-back talk or the media talk or not knowing how to handle real-life circumstances that has nothing to do with the game of basketball. It has everything to do with how you handle someone as a person. While I was here, I learned a lot of lessons. I’ve made my peace again, like I said, and I just want to move forward,” Irving said. He scored 36 in the Mavs’ 119-107 win.

Rabbis Feud With Kyrie Irving Over Alleged Sign Removal

However, Irving has not been wholly able to stay out of trouble in Dallas. Earlier this season, Irving found himself the target of the ire of a group of rabbis. In January, a group of Utah Jazz-supporting rabbis has claimed they were asked to put away signs reading “I’m a Jew and I’m proud” during a game against the Mavericks. Furthermore, they claim that the request was due to complaints from Kyrie Irving. Rabbi Avremi Zippel and three of his colleagues sat at the Delta Center with their signs with the intent of attracting Irving’s attention due to his anti-Semitic comments in 2022. According to Zippel, Irving acknowledged the signs in the first quarter. The Mavs veteran reportedly told Zippel and his friends, “Nice, I’m a Jew, too. Don’t gotta bring something like that to the game.”

Soon after the interaction, Zippel claims security approached his group and told them to remove the signs. The official cited a rule about holding signs in courtside seats. However, Zippel also claims that another staffer later informed him that the removal was due to Irving filing a complaint with security. While Zippel said he had previously checked the rules about signs, the team issued a statement after the game. “No matter where someone is in the arena, if a sign becomes distracting or sparks an interaction with a player, we will ask them to remove it. There was a group sitting courtside whose signs sparked an interaction with a player that created a distraction and interfered with play of game,” the Jazz said. Irving’s representation denied that Irving complained to security. Furthermore the Jazz disputed the account of what they called a “part-time employee”.
