Key Glock Says He’s Been ‘Maintaining’ Since Young Dolph’s Death

Later this month will mark five months since the music world was met with the unfortunate news of Young Dolph’s death. He was shot and killed in his hometown of Memphis while shopping at a bakery. An autopsy that was late conducted revealed that Dolph was shot a shocking 22 times. Three people were arrested in connection with his murder, so it appears that justice will be served for his death. Key Glock was one of many people that were affected by Dolph’s and it’s due to their close relationship. They are cousins by marriage and they collaborated musically on several occasions like 2019’s Dum And Dummer and 2021’s Dum And Dummer 2.

Key Glock recently sat down for an interview, his first since Dolph’s death, with Complex’s Speedy Mormon and it’s here that he opened up about his well-being. “I’m maintaining,” Glock says afterMormon asked how he’s been doing since Dolph’s death. “Like, I’m not getting better, I’m not getting worse. I’m just here right now.” He continued, “I can’t shake it, man. I ain’t even gonna lie. I can’t even shake it. It is what it is.”

Mormon then asked Key Glock to share the moment he learned about Dolph’s death. Glock said he was at home resting when someone shouted his name to inform him of the news. “You know how you can hear how somebody call your name, like the tone of they voice, like you know something wrong you just don’t know what it is?” he said. “That’s what it was.”

Gucci Mane, Young Dolph, And Key Glock Try To Keep Their Hands Clean On The Apathetic ‘Blood All On It’

Gucci Mane, Young Dolph, and Key Glock all had productive years in 2021. Gucci dropped his Ice Daddy, So Icy Boyz, and So Icy Christmas projects. Young Dolph and Key Glock reunited for Dum And Dummer 2 and Dolph dropped Paper Route Illuminati with his Paper Route crew. Glock also gave the world Yellow Tape 2 to close out 2021. This year was set to be a busy year for the trio, but that’s unfortunately and sadly not the case for Dolph as he was tragically shot and killed last November. Thankfully for those who are fans of Dolph, we’ve received a new posthumous verse from him thanks to a track with Gucci Mane and Key Glock.

The trio unites for “Blood All On It,” and it’s quite the heinous track as it finds the rappers doing their best to keep their hands clean after their evildoings. The track even arrives with a music video that sees appearances from Gucci, Key Glock, and Dolph. While Gucci and Dolph rap together on a tarmac near planes and luxury cars, Dolph finds himself inside an aircraft accompanied by quite the collection of hundred-dollar bills.

The song extends an active year that both Gucci Mane and Key Glock have had. Gucci kicked things off by connecting with Lil Durk for “Rumors.” He followed that up with “Publicity Stunt,” a record he used to respond to some disses from NBA Youngboy. Key Glock, on the other hand, is a week removed from releasing the deluxe version of Yellow Tape 2.

Gucci Mane is a Warner Music artist. Uproxx is an independent subsidiary of Warner Music Group.

Young Dolph’s Murder Suspect Was Reportedly Attacked In Jail

Less than a week after Young Dolph’s autopsy results showed that the Memphis rapper was shot 22 times with a Draco AK-47 assault-style machine pistol, one of his murder suspects has been attacked in jail. According to a TMZ report, alleged shooter Justin “Straight Drop” Johnson was on the phone in the visitation room of Tennessee’s Shelby County Jail when a fellow inmate walked past him and punched him in the head.

Johnson and Cornelius Smith are both in custody as the alleged shooters in the case who drove past the Makeda’s Cookies shop that Young Dolph was at and opened fire from their Mercedes Benz. Another suspect, Shundale Barnett, was mistakenly released from police custody and is still at large. While there are also two other “persons of interest” in the case, Johnson claims he’s innocent and has been behind bars for the November 17th murder since his arrest in January.

The lawyer for Justin Johnson got in touch with TMZ to outline the incident, and the report says that no motive is known. Considering what Johnson is in jail for to begin with, it’s an easy guess that he is not a well-liked figure in the jail. Photos linking Johnson to Dolph surfaced shortly before his arrest in January and Johnson apparently shot a music video in the past at the house where the murder getaway card was found. The latter seems like very circumstantial evidence, but for now Johnson remains at Shelby County Jail.

Young Dolph’s Autopsy Results Show That He Was Shot 22 Times

As the rap world continues to reel after the tragic shooting of Memphis rapper Young Dolph this past November, an autopsy report was just released and indicated that Dolph was shot 22 times.

According to the autopsy report obtained by Fox 13 Memphis report, Young Dolph was shot in the “forehead, temple, face, right back, center back, left-back, right arm, left arm, left chest, left abdomen, right chin, right neck, right wrist, and right shoulder.” The report from the West Tennessee Regional Forensic Center indicated that the deadly wounds were, “to the head, neck, and torso.”

These details just add to the grim and senseless incident that took Young Dolph’s life in his hometown. On November 17, the rapper walked into a favorite local haunt, Makeda’s Cookies. Shortly after making his purchase, a Mercedes with alleged shooters Justin Johnson and Cornelius “Straight Dropp” Smith pulled up and unloaded on the rapper using a Draco AK-47 assault-style machine pistol.

Both Smith and Johnson are in custody, while a warrant for Shundale Barnett is out for his involvement in the murder. Two other men, Devin Burns and Joshua Taylor are considered persons of interest in the case.

Meanwhile, Young Dolph’s label, Paper Route Empire, release the Long Live Dolph tribute album in January, featuring appearances from Key Glock, Big Moochie Grape, Kenny Muney, Snupe Bandz, and others. A memorial in front of the Makeda’s was taken down last week when the business shuttered and the building went back up for lease.
