YNW Melly’s Friend Testifies That Rapper Switched Clothing Before Going To Fredo Bang’s House

YNW Melly is back in court today (July 10). The latest prosecution witness to take the stand is the Florida native’s friend, Treveon Glass. As Yahoo News reports, Glass was in the same recording studio as Jamell Demons and the two men he’s been accused of killing (YNW Juvy and YNW SakChaser) on the night of their deaths. While on the stand he recalled watching the trio get into a Jeep and drive away together. Hours later, word of Melly’s associates’ deaths began circulating. This is when Glass says he saw the 23-year-old at fellow rapper Fredo Bang’s house.

The outfit the “Murder on My Mind” rapper wore when leaving the studio was different than the one he had on at Bang’s, the witness told the court this afternoon. Elsewhere in his testimony, Glass confirmed Melly’s identity in a video that shows him entering the driver’s seat of the vehicle where Juvy and SakChaser tragically lost their lives. When his friends left the studio, Treveon says he and a group went to Demons’ home in Miramar. Here he fell asleep around the same time that prosecutors claim the embattled rapper killed his friends.

To this day, the gun used to shoot Juvy and SakChaser hasn’t been recovered. Melly’s defense lawyers maintain that he wasn’t in the vehicle when the killings took place. However, phone data shows that at least his mobile device was. The jury was recently prohibited from seeing the Jeep first-hand before making their decision, which is likely weighing heavy on their minds as the young recording artist is eligible for the death penalty.

At the same time as YNW Melly’s friend was testifying against him, fans at home have been placing online bets on his double murder trial’s verdict. At least one online website is offering several promotions in connection with the accused killer’s case including a sign-up bonus of up to $1,000. Read all about that at the link below, and check back later for more hip-hop/pop culture news updates.

YNW Melly Verdict: Betting Website Accepts Wagers As Rapper Continues To Gain Streamers

It was reported last week that YNW Melly’s double murder trial will likely go on for at least another month. The 23-year-old has been behind bars on accusations of killing his two friends – YNW Juvy and YNW SakChaser – in 2018. Nevertheless, he’s consistently maintained his innocence. Melly’s trial so far has been filled with ups and downs. At this time, it’s hard to say whether the embattled artist will walk away a free man, or face the death penalty for his alleged crimes.

As Vibe reports, the internet continues to speculate about what the Florida native’s fate will be. Of course, some people are bypassing taste completely with their discourse. For instance, @betonline_ag is offering a $100 Freeplay to one lucky winner who comments under a recent Instagram post with their opinion on whether Melly is guilty or not. “Bet on @ynwmelly’s trial at the link in @BetOnline_ag’s bio and get a sign-up bonus of up to $1,000,” the company further urged viewers.

As expected, the comment section has filled with reactions, some of them insisting that Melly is responsible for his friend’s deaths and others siding with the “Murder on my Mind” hitmaker. “No way y’all got odds for bro freedom 😂😂😂😂,” one person responded to the post on Sunday (July 9). “He literally made a song admitting it 😂,” another pointed out.

Speaking of his music, as Bryson “Boom” Paul reports, Melly’s streaming numbers have consistently increased since his trial began in June. This week there was a 1.2% growth, marking 143,445 new monthly listeners. While still impressive, it’s actually the accused killer’s lowest increase as of late.

YNW Melly’s Spotify Monthly Listeners Keep Increasing Amid Trial

Since it’s one of the most high-profile crime stories in hip-hop right now, it’s natural for the YNW Melly case to bring him some significant attention. Previously, we reported some remarkable increases in streams amid the Florida MC’s trial for double murder. Within just a week of his court proceedings beginning, his Spotify monthly listeners went up by almost 800K, whether those are all new listeners or old ones revisiting him. Moreover, it’s hard to divide what percentage of these listeners are listening to him more than once, if they listened to him last month, and so on. What we do know is that Melly has a lot of eyes and ears on him right now as his case develops.

Furthermore, the most recent reports on his Spotify listener base reflect similar numbers that are unlikely to decrease anytime soon. The 24-year-old’s monthly listeners saw another increase of 5.4% from last week to this one. Once at 11,296,243, now YNW Melly has 11,906,390 accounts tuning in every month. That means that more than 600,000 people presumably joined in on his discography.

Still, when it comes to the trial itself, we have a bit of a break right now when it comes to its developments and discoveries. The court is currently adjourned in the YNW Melly case, returning to session on Monday, July 10 after about a week of pause. Regardless of this gap, there are still plenty of moments, big or small, to analyze surrounding the “Mixed Personalities” artist’s fate. For example, one of the most curious recent happenings in court was the reference to various rappers, pictures of whom were presented by prosecutors as evidence for unclear reasons.

Meanwhile, another recent development occurred when a detective spoke on whether the shooting Melly’s accused of was a drive-by. Apparently, the rapper tried to stage one, and the detective fought back against that attempt. However, investigators did not find his DNA in the vehicle he allegedly shot his victims in. As such, it remains a murky aspect of the trial. For more news and the latest updates on YNW Melly, log back into HNHH.

Fredo Bang Declares “Free Melly” In New Song

The YNW Melly double murder trial has been one of the biggest hip-hop stories of the year so far. In addition to all the regular case developments, the court mentioned plenty of rappers in their proceedings so far, whether for their involvement or in reference. One that is allegedly involved in the murders Melly stands accused of committing is Fredo Bang. Prosecutors argued that the Baton Rogue rapper picked the Florida MC up after he allegedly fatally shot YNW Juvy and YNW SakChaser. Now, he came through with a track in support of Melly, aptly titled “Free Melly” as many fans online are clamoring.

However, at first glance, the lyrics here don’t reference or talk about YNW Melly’s case at length; he most notably denied giving information in the case. Rather, the 27-year-old got into his storytelling and narrative bag, providing a lot of detailed descriptions of his rough street life and taking down his opposition. Sure, there is one sole mention of Melly, talking about how they’ve been close for a long time and his refusal to talk to the police or court. Other than that, “Free Melly” is a portrait of Fredo Bang’s day-to-day, or instead some of his darkest and most contentious moments. There are some sharp lines here that are meant to hit you in your core rather than make you evaluate the wordplay, and he switches from more easy-going flows to rapid-fire bars.

Meanwhile, the production her is reminiscent of something that NBA YoungBoy would ride with pride (after all, they’re both from Louisiana). Breezy guitars and piano mesh with a mid-tempo trap beat to create a surprisingly bright sonic pallet for the MC to float over. We’ll see how the rest of the trial progresses, and whether or not this song turns into an anthem for it. If you haven’t heard it yet, find “Free Melly” on your preferred streaming service and peep standout bars below. As always, stick around on HNHH for the latest news and updates on Fredo Bang and YNW Melly.

YNW Bortlen’s Trial To Begin In October

YNW Melly has been in trial for some time now, accused of murdering his two friends, YNW SakChaser and YNW Juvy, in 2018. Melly’s defense claims the two young men were killed in a drive-by shooting, which investigators are arguing is impossible. Now, it’s been revealed that the only other surviving person in the vehicle on the night of the murders aside from Melly, YNW Bortlen, will also be on trial beginning in October. His trial starts October 2, 2023 at Broward County Courthouse, according to Bryson “Boom” Paul.

Today, Bortlen also appeared in court in Florida. His defense attorney motioned for the artist to work while he awaits the upcoming trial. Assistant State Attorney Kristine Bradley was opposed to the motion. She argued that Bortlen had previously violated his bond agreement. In January of 2021, Bortlen was found to have violated his pre-trial release conditions, as shown by his ankle monitor. Allegedly, the ankle monitor tracked him going to strip clubs and personal residences, when he was only supposed to travel for work.

YNW Bortlen Appeared In Court

A Broward County Courthouse spokesperson later confirmed that Bortlen’s pre-trial release had been revoked, and a judge reportedly called for him to be arrested. In January of this year, it was also reported that Bortlen provided information to the police regarding the night of the murders. Audio was released of Bortlen speaking with an unidentified person about the shootings. Though Bortlen didn’t share specific details in the audio, listeners speculate that he could have been speaking to a detective. Whether he was or not, Bortlen’s trial will be instrumental in the case.

Recently, hundreds of photos were submitted as evidence in Melly’s trial. Kristine Bradley submitted the photos, which featured various famous rappers. Artists like Drake, French Montana, Kevin Gates, and more have been previously mentioned throughout Melly’s trial. The photos included Kanye West, Lil Uzi Vert, Kodak Black, Young Thug, and more.

YNW Melly Case: Detective States That Shooting Wasn’t A Drive-By

The latest update in the YNW Melly double murder trial points to him staging a drive-by shooting to cover up the deaths of YNW Juvy and YNW SakChaser, of which he’s accused. Moreover, a forensic study of the crime scene and a testimony from detective Sgt. Christopher Williams on Wednesday (June 28) supported that claim. Furthermore, these suggested that the bullets that fatally struck both men came from inside the vehicle they rode in, not from outside. As such, now the Florida rapper’s side of the story saw a challenge from the prosecution, and it’s unclear whether there will be further investigation. Regardless, the court heard from the detective on the witness stand, and he gave his assessment.

“The shooting happened from somebody inside the car,” Williams stated while describing the crime scene. In addition, he believes that “the angles” at which the bullets struck Juvy and SakChaser “did not change,” and that he probably overlooked these details because he initially tested the scene for a drive-by. Also, he explained that a bullet stuck Juvy in the head at close range from his left in “the middle of his cheek” while looking ahead. “Part of the wound had an abrasion ring on it,” the sergeant stated as he brought up the “tattoo of the stippling” as proof against YNW Melly.

YNW Melly Accused Of Staging Drive-By Shooting

Previously, Judge John Murphy saw footage of the “223’s” MC sitting behind the victims in the Jeep Cherokee. What’s more is that the jury heard from medical examiners that determined that both men suffered fatal gunshot wounds to the head after their autopsy. Prosecutors also showed text messages from YNW Melly asking for a gun from his mother two months before the alleged murder. With all this in mind, the 24-year-old’s case is unraveling ominously for him, although he scored some small victories.

For example, the court ruled another forensics report invalid due to the prosecution failing to report its discovery. As such, any evidence or conclusions gathered from that will not be allowed to be used in court. As the case develops, the public gives their thoughts on whether he did it, and what the outcome of the case will be. With that in mind, stay posted on HNHH for the latest news and updates on YNW Melly.

The ninth day of the YNW Melly double-murder trial brought forth significant developments as the defense continued the cross-examination of undercover detective Danny Polo. Drake & Kevin Gates Are Latest Rappers To Be Name-Dropped In YNW Melly Double Murder Trial

Today (June 27), marks Jamell Demons’ ninth day in court amid his double murder trial. At this time, it remains unclear which way the death-qualified jury will lean in the nail-biting case. It could result in the rapper receiving a fatal sentence with a minimum 8-4 vote thanks to new state laws. Demons – better known as YNW Melly – seems calm, confident, and even playful amid proceedings which have been live-streamed by Law & Crime throughout the month.

Much of the focus remains on the 23-year-old and his alleged victims, YNW Juvy and YNW SakChaser. Nevertheless, it wouldn’t be a true hip-hop trial if other artists weren’t also brought into the conversation. Boosie Badazz is the only public figure to set foot in Melly’s courtroom so far (though he was arrested on federal charges of his own shortly after). This week, we’ve been hearing several names referenced during the testimony of undercover Detective Danny Polo. On Monday, he suggested that Juelz Santana is a member of the Bloods while also noting that he’s unsure if French Montana is gang-affiliated or not.

YNW Melly’s Double Murder Trial Continues to Reference Hip-Hop

The next day, Polo answered questions from YNW Melly’s attorney, David A. Howard, regarding two other famous lyricists. The first was Drake, who the gang expert confirmed has made references to violence throughout his songs. Elsewhere the lawyer brought up Kevin Gates’ “4:30 AM,” on which he raps, “No regrets for the shit I did.” As per journalist Bryson “Boom” Paul, Howard replayed a video the prosecution presented of his client reciting the same lyrics.

Being dragged into yet another trial likely isn’t how Drake wants to spend his summer. Thankfully, the Canadian has other major projects underway to keep his mind occupied from the drama, such as his It’s All A Blur tour and his recently announced For All The Dogs album. See what Drizzy has said about the latter so far at the link below, and check back later for more hip-hop/pop culture news updates.
