Tyga And YG Aim For ‘Platinum’ In Their Rubber-Burning New Video

Back in March, during Tyga’s rollicking Rolling Loud set, his fellow Compton rapper YG popped out for a surprise performance of their 2019 collaboration “Go Loko,” after which they announced they’ve got a new joint album in the works. True to their word, they followed up last week with the Blxst-featuring single “West Coast Weekend.” While that song channeled laid-back some picnic vibes typical of LA hip-hop, their new single, “Platinum,” goes the other way, tapping into the street-stomping gangbanging culture which is equally as emblematic of life on West Coast.

The video for the new song is fittingly sun-drenched — which is impressive, considering what the weather has been like out here lately — and proud of that heritage. Lowriders cruise by, a huge crowd gathers to admire dancers doing the Blood walk, and the duo stomps the streets outside the Oracle Arena in the Bay Area. All the while, they insist they’re going to go platinum, which both have plenty of experience doing.

The full-length album — which has yet to be titled — is likely due sometime later this year, but for now, Tyga and YG have the West Coast party scene sewn up for the summer. You can watch the video for “Platinum” above.

Tyga and YG have joined forces once again for their latest hit, “Westcoast Weekend,” featuring Grammy-nominated artist Blxst.

Paying homage to the classic California sound, the song samples Tupac’s iconic track “All About You” and serves as the perfect summer anthem, celebrating the vibrant West Coast culture and lifestyle. Coinciding with the release, yesterday marked the posthumous unveiling of Tupac’s star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, with a ceremony hosted by radio personality Big Boy and attended by YG and others.

The highly anticipated collaboration showcases the trio’s dynamic energy through its infectious hook, dynamic production, and undeniable charisma. Tyga and YG’s spirited lyrics, complemented by Blxst’s soulful vocals, seamlessly blend R&B and hip-hop styles, resulting in a timeless yet refreshing sound.

“Westcoast Weekend” marks the first collaboration between these three hitmakers and holds particular significance as it coincides with the 50th anniversary of hip-hop. The melodic track is expected to resonate with fans worldwide, capturing the essence of the iconic West Coast style through its nostalgic roots and innovative flow.

Tyga And YG’s Lively ‘West Coast Weekend’ With Blxst Gets The Party Started

Blxst and Tyga are rapidly becoming one of my favorite combos in music. Their previous collab, “Chosen” with Ty Dolla Sign, has been a staple of my warm-weather playlists for the past two years and now, they’ve joined forces once again, just in time to contribute to this year’s picnic soundtracks. Joining them this time around is Tyga’s fellow Compton rapper YG for the throwback park jam “West Coast Weekend” (yes, I am officially claiming Tyga as a Comptonite now. It’s been long enough.)

The track samples a familiar funk staple — everybody with an uncle over fifty knows Cameo’s 1986 neck-breaker “Candy” — while Blxst croons a hook ready-made for summertime house parties. Tyga and YG have both stepped up their respective rap games a lot in the past couple of years, but here, the vibes do the heavy lifting — which just makes their efforts all the more admirable. YG’s verse especially is packed with clever wordplay and interesting use of quirky pockets in the beat that makes me even more curious about the duo’s upcoming joint album, which they announced at Rolling Loud earlier this year. Blxst also sounds great here, stoking anticipation for his own album which is presumably dropping soon.

YG and Saweetie have kept the rumor mill churning about a potential romance between the two. On Tuesday (May 30), the two were spotted in Cabo, coupled up, enjoying a baecation.

The Shade Room spotted the two in a pool, cuddling up and kissing. YG had a fitted-on hugging Saweetie from behind in one photo. Another catches him kissing the “Tap In” star on her neck.

Previously, the two were spotted at Coachella and caught eyes, sparking rumors about their status. Before that, YG hosted a birthday party, which Saweetie also attended.

Saweetie And YG Seem To Confirm Their Relationship In Romantic New Photos

Saweetie is having a big year. She hopped on a remix of Baby Tate’s viral “Hey, Mickey!” and she was brought out during Latto’s Coachella performance. Now, it looks like her love life has a lot going on as well.

The “My Type” performer has been rumored to be dating fellow rapper YG after the two were allegedly at Coachella together. They also both collaborated with Tyga on “Money Mouf” and Mozzy on “In My Face.” However, photographic evidence has surfaced Tuesday, May 30 of the pair getting close in Cabo.

Though fans are excited for romance in Saweetie’s life, they would also like new material from her, especially considering she’s been putting off her debut album for quite some time. In March, she talked about why it’s been taking a while. “I feel like a debut album is not something you just put out,” she said. “It’s not something you play with. I’m a Cancer, so I like to overthink sometimes, but I think you have to be really careful with that, and I take my art really serious.

“I’ve been through a lot of interesting experiences,” she added. “So, I wanna put that all into my album in the most artistic and organic way.”

YG And Saweetie Confirm Their Romance In New Pictures

YG and Saweetie, both hailing from California, have been connected to each other for a while. However, the pair have managed to keep their relationship under wraps. The speculation surrounding their romantic involvement began when Saweetie attended YG’s birthday party in March. At the time, no official confirmation was made. According to The Jasmine Brand, they were seen getting cozy together during their time at Coachella. Given their previous collaborations with artists like Tyga on “Money Mouf” and Mozzy on “In My Face,” it’s not entirely surprising to see them develop a romantic connection.

However, what is somewhat surprising are the rumors that YG provides Saweetie with a monthly “blank check.” Apparently, she is allowed to spend it as she pleases. AllHipHop alleges that YG possesses a black card with an extremely high credit limit. The outlet adds that Saweetie is not in the relationship for financial gain. She already has her own considerable wealth. While the truth of those rumors remain unclear, YG and Saweetie’s romance has now been officially confirmed.

YG And Saweetie’s Mexico Getaway

YG and Saweetie have confirmed their relationship and made it public by traveling to Mexico together. The rappers are displaying plenty of affection in Cabo, leaving no doubt about the romantic nature of their connection. On Sunday, they couldn’t keep their hands off each other, engaging in intimate embraces and passionate kissing at the poolside of their resort. Saweetie flaunted her figure in a vibrant pink bikini, and YG appears to be very content with his new partner, which is completely understandable.

The recent vacation during the holiday weekend provides confirmation to the ongoing speculations about YG and Saweetie’s relationship, which have been circulating for several months. If you haven’t been keeping up, the rumors initially sparked when they were spotted together at Coachella last month. However, their rendezvous at the music festival wasn’t just a one-time occurrence, and their trip to Cabo further solidifies the fact that they are indeed involved in a new romance.
