YG Releases New Album ‘I GOT ISSUES’ and Video for “I Dance”

image 1

I GOT ISSUES, YG’s sixth studio album is made available by Def Jam Recordings. YG debuted the music video for his single “I Dance,” along with the release of his deeply personal new album.

Hip-hop legends including J. Cole, Post Malone, Nas, Roddy Rich, and others have features on the eagerly awaited new album. The album is offered on all digital platforms and on a unique signed CD.

I GOT ISSUES is YG’s first studio album since My Life 4Hunnid, which debuted in the top 5 of the Billboard 200 albums and at the top of the Rap Albums rankings. It generated five hit singles, including “FTP,” which was released at the height of the Black Lives Matter demonstrations and became the movement’s anthem for social justice.

You can see the new video and hear the album below.

YG & H.E.R. “Go Dumb” On Their Latest Collab Track

YG and H.E.R. made magic back in 2019 with their “Slide” collab track, and as we welcome the former’s highly anticipated I GOT ISSUES album, a new joint song from the duo has quickly emerged as a fan favourite on the tracklist.

Titled “Go Dumb,” the nearly four-and-a-half minute long bop finds the two artists trading sensual verses. “Your body is banging, you look better naked / That p*ssy smell like water, you don’t spray it with fragrance,” the West Coast rapper rhymes to the woman he’s got his eye on.

For her part, the R&B superstar sings, “You see the wrist and the ‘Rari and you know / Don’t need no rich n*gga, got it on my own / You talkin’ money, it ain’t no discussion / All these n*ggas ain’t really ’bout nothing.”

Stream “Go Dumb” on Spotify below, and check out YG’s full I GOT ISSUES album here.

Quotable Lyrics:

Your body is banging, you look better naked
That p*ssy smell like water, you don’t spray it with fragrance
Cornrows with the bamboos, that bе my favourite
Bad bitch on the d*ck, I gotta tell hеr behave it

YG Drops “I Got Issues” With J. Cole, Nas, Roddy Ricch & More

YG has been heavy on his reflective energy in recent years, and it all came together on his new album I Got Issues. Earlier this month, the Compton native blessed fans with the introspective track and visual for his single “Alone,” in which he vowed to leave the streets behind.

The track followed his previously released singles “Scared Money” featuring J. Cole & Moneybagg Yo and “Run” with Tyga, BIA and 21 Savage, which will both be featured on his highly anticipated sixth studio album. I Got Issues is YG’s first solo album since his 2020 project, My Life 4Hunnid.

Earlier this week, the 32-year old rapper opened up about his new album in an Instagram video, sharing, “The album I Got Issues is basically insight on my life, an update on my life. I feel like my people haven’t heard from me in a real way, in a long time. So I’m giving them this album…I’m here with all my issues, you know what I’m sayin’.” Stream I Got Issues, available now on Apple Music and Spotify.

YG Loses His Mind In The ‘Maniac’ Video From His Upcoming Album, ‘I Got Issues’

Even though YG’s latest single from his upcoming album I Got Issues is called “Maniac,” the accompanying video isn’t all that crazy at first glance. Then you see a guy in the back Blood walking in a “Thriller” jacket and you realize, “Oh yeah. Someone must have lost their mind.”

I kid, but YG’s new song and video are pretty typical of the material he’s put out from the new album so far. The Compton rapper subtly details the stressors that have been making his life “krazy” since even before he got famous (see what I did there?), and brashly reveals the effect getting rich and famous has had on them. He also shows off his increasingly polished wordplay skills, a facet of his artistry that has been overlooked and underrated for the past few years. Ever since he started writing his raps down, he’s had a plethora of clever turns of phrases like this one: “I put bands on heads, give you a headband, n****.”

The rollout for I Got Issues hasn’t gone quite as smoothly as YG wanted though. After dropping well-received singles like “Run” and “Toxic,” YG expressed his disappointment in Def Jam after the tracklist for the album — which features surprise features like Nas — was released prematurely.

Despite that snafu, though, anticipation for the album seems about where it should be and it looks like he’s on track for another well-performing project when I Got Issues drops on September 30. Pre-save it here.

YG Gets Explicit While Blasting Def Jam For Releasing His ‘I Got Issues’ Tracklist

Gone are the days when listeners had no idea what was going on behind the scenes with artists and their labels. Nowadays you can damn near find the ins and outs of legal disputes, leaked text messages, and borderline personal addresses. YG is the latest rapper to scold his label, Def Jam Recordings, for prematurely releasing his tracklist and, in turn, revealing his guest features without his consent.

The Compton powerhouse took to Twitter to colorfully express his frustrations. “DEF JAM BE HIRE’N PEOPLE TO F*CK UP. ALL THEY DO IS F*CK UP,” he shared Monday night, nearly a week before his expected release date on September 30th. “MY TRACK LIST FOR MY ALBUM IS NOT POSE TO BE OUT. THEY SUCK REAL BAD.”

The tracklist includes already released singles “Toxic,” “Scared Money” featuring J. Cole and Moneybagg Yo, and a new Nas collaboration, long awaited by YG on the song “No Weapon.” There are also features from a HER, Roddy Ricch, Post Malone, and others.

The good news is I Got Issues, YG’s sixth studio album, is set to hit the streets September 30th, leaving room to build just enough anticipation without losing momentum. The bad news is someone at Def Jam might be out of a job in a few days if they’re looking to appease YG.

At the risk of reading like a hip hop cliché… “it ain’t safe on the block.” Hopefully, Def Jam and YG can sort this out ahead of September 30th.

Roddy Ricch is a Warner Music artist. Uproxx is an independent subsidiary of Warner Music Group.
