Kanye West Won’t Face Charges For The Alleged Battery Of A Fan

Back in January, Los Angeles police began investigating Kanye West after he allegedly punched a male fan who approached him outside of the Soho Warehouse in downtown LA. Had he been convicted of misdemeanor battery, he would’ve faced up to six months of jail time. However, today, Rolling Stone reports Ye is no longer facing those charges.

“Regarding the incident involving Kanye West that took place January 13, 2022, after a thorough and careful review of all the evidence, our office is declining to file based on no reasonable likelihood of conviction,” Rob Wilcox, a spokesman for Los Angeles City Attorney Mike Feuer, said in a statement to the publication.

Ye has not admitted to punching the fan, however, he revealed in an interview with Hollywood Unlocked‘s Jason Lee that he was aggravated by the fan’s attitude.

“It was 3 a.m. in front of [Soho] Warehouse,” Ye said. “I’m saying, ‘You don’t know what I’m dealing with right now.’ I just finished these two songs, I came from the studio […] and this dude, he just had this real attitude, like, ‘Whatchu gonna do?’”

Ye recently made a surprise appearance at Rolling Loud Miami, despite having dropped out of the festival and being replaced by his once-protege Kid Cudi. He is also set to appear on DJ Khaled’s new album, God Did, on a remix of “Use This Gospel,” which also features Eminem.

Kanye West Hops On Fox News To Address Criticism Over His In-Store Presentation Of Yeezy Gap

For his Yeezy Gap Engineered By Balenciaga line of clothing, Kanye West has received some criticism when it comes to the in-store presentation: The items are kept in large, black bags that have been likened by some to trash bags. Now, Ye has addressed the criticism, using a Fox News interview to do so.

On Fox & Friends today (August 18), the show’s Eric Shawn spoke to West at the Gap store in Times Square and asked, “Do you understand some people have felt that putting clothes in bags is insensitive, perhaps, to homeless and other people?” West answered, “Look, man: I’m an innovator, and I’m not here to sit up and apologize about my ideas. That’s exactly what the media tries to do: Make us apologize for any idea that doesn’t fall under exactly the way they want us to think.”

He went on to note, “This is, like, not a joke. This is not a game. This is not just some celebrity collaboration. This is my life, you know? I’m fighting for a position to be able to change clothing and bring the best design to the people.”

Shawn also reported Ye told him his goal was to make clothing that’s “more egalitarian and not as pretentious,” and that people shouldn’t “clown the creators” because that will “make innovators and other designers” “less brave.” Shawn also noted that West wants to “make life easier and informal so that we can all, basically, dress in the dark.”

Kid Cudi Doesn’t Plan To Repair His Friendship With Kanye West: ‘With All Due Respect, I’m Not Drake’

Since Kanye West discovered Kid Cudi through the latter’s 2008 breakthrough mixtape, A Kid Named Cudi, the two have been frequent collaborators, though their friendship has proven tumultuous. Despite the fact that they have been able to resolve past conflicts, Cudi revealed in a tweet this past April that despite recording a track with Ye for the Pusha T album It’s Almost Dry, he chose to end their friendship.

“I am not cool w that man,” Cudi said. “He’s not my friend and I only cleared the song for Pusha cuz thats my guy. This is the last song u will hear me on w Kanye.”

Now, in an interview with Esquire ahead of the premiere of his upcoming animated series Entergalactic, Cudi revealed fans shouldn’t hold their breath for him and Ye to bury any hatchets.

“With all due respect, I’m not Drake, who’s about to take a picture with him next week and be friends again, and their beef is squashed,” Cudi said. “That’s not me. What I say, I mean. I will be done with you. It’s gonna take a motherf*cking miracle for me and that man to be friends again. I don’t see it happening. He gon’ have to become a monk.”
