Ye Admits to Being Wrong on Good Morning America: ‘Sway Had the Answers’

Ye Admits to Being Wrong on Good Morning America: 'Sway Had the Answers'

Kanye West is continuing his media rounds during his fight with apparel giants adidas and Gap. Appearing on Good Morning America, Ye was questioned about his business dealings by journalist Linsey Davis, who brought up the near 10-year-old clip in which radio legend Sway questioned his desire to seek corporate partners instead of going direct to consumer.

“Why don’t you empower yourself and don’t need them and do it yourself,” Sway asked. Kanye famously replied, “You ain’t got the answers, Sway.”

Davis brought up that moment in conversation with Ye, “Was he right?”

Kanye replied, “You know what, I will go ahead and say Sway had the answer. I know people are going to be like ‘no!’”

Elsewhere in the club, Kanye spoke about working on his co-parenting relationship with Kim Kardashian, his DONDA Academy, and eventually running for president again. Speaking on his past run, Ye said, “That time wasn’t in God’s time.”

Kanye West ‘Absolutely’ Plans To Run For President Again After His Failed 2020 Campaign

Back in 2020, Kanye West ran for president. That did not go well — he suspects the ill-fated run may have cost him his marriage to Kim Kardashian — and shortly after announcing his candidacy, he reckoned he might try again in 2024 instead. Now, Ye has revisited that topic in a new Good Morning America interview this morning (September 22). (The full conversation is set to air later today on ABC News Live and Nightline.)

During the conversation, he said he “absolutely” plans to take another stab at running for president, although he didn’t specify when that will happen. As for why his previous campaign didn’t work out how he had hoped, West said, “That time wasn’t in God’s time.”

Speaking of religion, Ye also called himself a “radical” for wanting to promote “the idea of family, the idea of God, the idea of protecting your children’s innocence for as long as possible.” He continued:

“When you remove the love and fear of God, you open up the love and fear of everything else. And it’s easier to have sheep when people don’t have God. It’s easier to control the people if people are not controlled by God. Because then they can be controlled by how many likes they have or whatever’s happening on their TikTok or how much money or the perception that people have. But we only have one audience here and that audience is God. And He’s watching us at all times. He’s got my back.”

Kanye West Plans To Discontinue Corporate Partnerships With Adidas and Gap: ‘It’s Time for Me To Go It Alone’

The next phase of Kanye West’s career may not include adidas or Gap. Speaking with Bloomberg, YE revealed he will look forward to creating without the assistance of corporate giants.

“It’s time for me to go it alone,” Ye said. “It’s fine. I made the companies money. The companies made me money. We created ideas that will change apparel forever. Like the round jacket, the Foam Runner, the slides that have changed the shoe industry. Now it’s time for Ye to make the new industry. No more companies standing in between me and the audience.”

Expanding on the conversation more, YE stated his corporate partners will be his “new baby mamas” as the rest of their partnerships will have to be a “co-parent” situation.

Ye is currently in a battle with Adidas. All through Labor Day Weekend, Ye dropped images of the brand’s executives on Instagram, most notably attacking Senior Vice President/General Manager Daniel Cherry III over his releasing product and his choice of headwear.

Hitting Instagram, Ye revealed Adidas attempted to sever ties with him and offered a one billion dollar payout, which he denied.

“The fact [adidas] felt they could color my shoes and name them without my approval is really wild,” Ye wrote. “I really care about building something that changes the world and something I can leave to my kids. They tried to buy me out for 1 billion dollars. My royalties next year are 500 million dollars alone.”

Ye would also reveal that his legal team advised him not to post anything on Gap, another one of his partners, for ten days.
